[SET]
name: Tank
move 1: Recover
move 2: Drain Punch
move 3: Aqua Jet
move 4: Gunk Shot / Knock Off / Roar
item: Leftovers
ability: Unaware
nature: Adamant
evs: 200 HP / 220 Atk / 88 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

- Recover is reliable recovery for more longevity.
- Drain Punch is STAB for more recovery, hitting most Pokemon that do not resist it
- Aqua Jet is priority STAB to hit faster Pokemon like Stratagem and Syclant
- Gunk Shot hits Fairy-types on the switch like Clefable
- Knock Off can be used to hit Lati@s and Necturna switch-ins
- Roar can be used to phaze setup sweepers like Revenankh and Manaphy and racks up hazard damage.
- Earthquake is an option to hit Mollux and Plasmanta switch-ins.
- Taunt can be used to stallbreak Pokemon like opposing Arghonaut as well as to check Calm Mind Naviathan.

Set Details
========
- 200 HP hits a Leftovers number, 88 Special Defense avoids a 2HKO from uninvested Clefable's Moonblast, and the rest goes into Attack to 2HKO Clefable and have a chance to 2HKO Pyroak with Gunk Shot after rocks
- Leftovers for passive recovery
- Unaware is Arghonaut's only ability and can help stop setup sweepers like Manaphy and Revenankh
- If using Earthquake, then an EV spread of 200 HP / 200 Atk / 88 SpD / 20 Spe is an option to outspeed uninvested Heatran and Mollux and OHKO or heavily damage them.
- 180 Speed EVs can be used to outspeed and Taunt Calm Mind Naviathan.
- If using Arghonaut on more defensive teams, then 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD with a Careful nature can be used, and it can be used if not running Gunk Shot.

Usage Tips
========

- Switch-in on anything that cannot do much damage; Syclant, Volkraken, Colossoil, and Revenankh are good switch-ins for Arghonaut
- If using Roar, use it to phaze out any setup sweeper
- Know when to use Drain Punch or Recover as your recovery, such as if you're facing a Chansey, using Drain Punch grants a lot of health recovered
- Try to find an opportunity to surprise the opponent when using a coverage move, such as when your opponent switches in a check expecting it to wall Arghonaut

Team Options
========

- This set fits on teams that need an answer to powerful special attackers like Syclant and Volkraken as well as setup sweepers like Revenankh
- Flying checks like Zapdos, Rotom-W, and Cyclohm, in return Arghonaut checks Ground-types
- Grass checks like Heatran and Skarmory aid Arghonaut and appreciate it dealing with Ground-types for Heatran and Fire-types for Skarmory
- Fairy checks like Mega Scizor, Mega Venusaur, Skarmory, Heatran, Mollux, Plasmanta, Pyroak, and Ferrothorn, Arghonaut checks Fire- and Ground-types for them.
- Pursuit trappers like Colossoil and Bisharp remove Psychic-types; Colossoil can also remove Electric-types.
- Clerics like Chansey, and Clefable heal Arghonaut of status and pass Wishes to it; both also handle Cyclohm well.

[SET]
name: Bulk Up
move 1: Bulk Up
move 2: Drain Punch
move 3: Aqua Jet / Gunk Shot
move 4: Gunk Shot / Earthquake
item: Leftovers
ability: Unaware
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

- Bulk Up increases Arghonaut's physical bulk and firepower, helping it against physical attackers and enabling it to break through bulky Pokemon with enough boosts
- Drain Punch is STAB for recovery, hitting most of the unresisted meta like Chansey and Colossoil
- Aqua Jet is STAB for priority to hit weakened Landorus-T and frail Pokemon like Stratagem and Syclant
- Gunk Shot hits Fairy-types trying to switch into Arghonaut like Clefable
- Earthquake can be used to hit Mollux and Plasmanta which resist Arghonaut's other moves, OHKOing both
- Knock Off is an option for neutral coverage, for hitting Lati@s and Necturna switch-ins, and for the ability to remove items

Set Details
========
- Max Attack with an Adamant nature because Arghonaut needs all the power it can get, while max HP increases its bulk to better tank hits.
- Leftovers for the recovery
- Unaware is Arghonaut's only ability and can help stop setup sweepers

Usage Tips
========

- This set is meant to be used to sweep late-game once all checks and counters are removed
- Don't get greedy with Bulk Up; know when you have enough boosts or if you need to recover with Drain Punch, such as when your opponent's Pokemon can KO Arghonaut in its current state.
- Most of the time, you want to spam Drain Punch when boosted to recover HP
- Use Aqua Jet to handle any faster threats like Stratagem and Syclant
- Only use Earthquake when taking out Electric-type or Mollux or Plasmanta switch-ins is necessary.

Team Options
========

- This set is meant to be built around and used as a wincon on balance
- Clerics like Chansey and Clefable cure Arghonaut of status and recover its HP with Wish, allowing it to have a second chance of sweeping.
- Users of U-turn and Volt Switch can allow Arghonaut to safely get in; Landorus-T, Colossoil, Mega Scizor, and Rotom-W are some examples. Mega Scizor also removes Fairy-types, Colossoil takes care of Electric-types and can Pursuit trap Psychic-types, Rotom-W can deal with Flying-types
- Cyclohm can deal with Flying-types, can cure Arghonaut of status with Heal Bell, and appreciates Arghonaut's ability to check Ground-types
- Wallbreakers like Mega Gardevoir and Kyurem-B can punch holes in the opponent's team to make way for Arghonaut to sweep, and can especially help take down Haze Tomohawk
- Mega Crucibelle is a notable wallbreaker as it can handle Fairy-types, Talonflame, and Mollux, and can heavily dent Plasmanta or KO it after a Coil boost.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

- Assault Vest is an option due to Arghonaut's natural bulk, Drain Punch, and a usable Attack.
- Stone Edge hits base Gyarados, Zapdos, and Tornadus-T
- Yawn to force switches
- A set with Substitute and Bulk Up with 216 HP / 112 Def / 180 Spe can be used to allow Arghonaut to set up on Calm Mind Naviathan and protect Arghonaut from Scald burns

Checks & Counters
===================

**Burns**: Burning Arghonaut shuts it down through residual damage and attack drops; Rotom-W is a common carrier of Will-O-Wisp and can use Volt Switch to gain momentum, while Pyroak can burn it with Lava Plume. Arghonaut also loses the ability to check Kitsunoh, Mega Charizard X, Heatran and Mollux if they carry Will-O-Wisp or if a Lava Plume burns. Volcanion not only can burn Arghonaut with Steam Eruption or Scald, but it can also switch into a Water STAB due to Water Absorb.
**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Pokemon like Tomohawk, Mega Venusaur, Amoonguss, Tangrowth, Skarmory, and Cyclohm can wall Arghonaut and retaliate with their STAB attacks. Tomohawk can also Haze its boosts away, Mega Venusaur can threaten a Giga Drain, and Skarmory and Cyclohm can phaze it with Whirlwind. Slowbro in both base and Mega form can set up on Arghonaut, burn it with Scald, dent it with Psyshock, or flat out wall it due to taking next to nothing from its attacks.
**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types like Clefable, Sylveon, Kerfluffle, Mega Altaria, and Mega Gardevoir can switch in and threaten any Arghonaut lacking Gunk Shot with their STAB attacks.
**Powerful Attackers**: Talonflame, Plasmanta, Dragalge, Mega Metagross, Mega Gallade, Mega Charizard Y, Necturna, Staraptor, and Thundurus can easily OHKO or 2HKO Arghonaut.
**Toxic**: Toxic forces Arghonaut on a timer, which can allow Pokemon that it normally handles like Landorus-T and Chansey to wear it down on the switch.

My thoughts on the sets so far:

Talked with a few QC people, and the consensus I've gathered so far is that Bulk Up should be the second set, Tank first. A simple EV spread of max Attack/HP is just enough to fully counter Analytic Modest Choice Specs Volkraken after Stealth Rock damage (after the initial switch-in, it does less since argho is slower so it can recover off the damage), plus it's still a full Syclant counter, so I'm kinda thinking the current spread listed under Specially Defensive would suffice as an alternate spread. However, the spread I've been using recently is 200 HP / 220 Atk / 88 SpD with Adamant; the HP hits a multiple of 16 + 1 to improve the efficiency of both Leftovers and Recover, the extra SpD helps against weaker Special Attacks such as defensive Clefable's Moonblast and Volkraken if it has, say Spikes support as opposed to SR. Rest of the investment goes into Attack alongside Adamant which is quite important as a tank, which lets it 2HKO even the bulkiest of Pyroak after SR damage instead of being threatened by Pyroak's Grass-type moves/wisp, gives it a much better shot at pressuring Clefable 1v1 with Gunk Shot (especially if Clefable is Unaware), and even without Gunk Shot, the EV spread lets it never be 2HKOed by Clefable's Moonblast, so it can actually hard counter bulky CM variants and phaze them out with Roar. The extra attack gives ajet a little more revenge killing potential, its Knock Off hits Nect harder... I'm just gonna put calcs for comparison here wait a sec

calcs
220+ Atk Arghonaut Gunk Shot vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Pyroak: 174-206 (39.2 - 46.5%) -- 91.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Arghonaut Gunk Shot vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Pyroak: 132-156 (29.7 - 35.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
220+ Atk Arghonaut Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 220-260 (55.8 - 65.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Arghonaut Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 164-194 (41.6 - 49.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
220+ Atk Arghonaut Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 160 Def Clefable: 266-314 (67.5 - 79.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Arghonaut Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 160 Def Clefable: 200-236 (50.7 - 59.8%) -- 85.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (stalled out)
220+ Atk Arghonaut Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Sylveon: 354-418 (89.8 - 106%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock <- straight up OHKOing offensive sylveon after rocks yes pls, does a bunch to bulkier variants as well
--
0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 200 HP / 88 SpD Arghonaut: 180-212 (44.8 - 52.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

set could be something like

name: Tank
move 1: Recover
move 2: Drain Punch
move 3: Aqua Jet
move 4: Gunk Shot / Knock Off / Roar
item: Leftovers
ability: Unaware
nature: Adamant
evs: 200 HP / 220 Atk / 88 SpD

with EQ in move details, perhaps some alternate spreads in set details as well to outpace uninvested mollux+tran / some other mons around the uninvested base 75 speed tier. In Checks and Counters, Choice Specs Gothitelle can opt to just attack it as well since Psychic / Psyshock both do a ton.

I'm gonna give cbrevan a tag to comment on this since we've had some discussions on this mon recently + I'm probably just rambling at this point.

So Naviathan is finally usable in CAP, thoughts on adding a stallbreaker set?

I also came up with an alternate spread of 216 HP / 112 Def / 180 Spe with Impish or Adamant for a Substitute variation on the Bulk Up set, the 180 Spe to outspeed CM Naviathan, the 216 HP for 101 HP Substitutes, and the rest into Defense to prevent Revenankh from breaking Arghonaut's Substitutes.

Waiting for cbrevan to comment before I implement sparktrain's suggestions.

Sparky's suggestions look solid. Not sold about that alternative spread you mentioned since there is no mention of Substitute in the Bulk Up set right now. Also, I'm not sure about the effectiveness of a Substitute Bulk Up set when the Bulk Up set is already strapped for moves as is. For now, you can mention the set and spread in Other Options and if QC decides its worth mentioning as a set we'll ket you know.

Any opinions on a spread of 64 HP / 192 Atk / 252 SpD Careful? It allows Arghonaut to avoid the OHKO from physically based mixed Hoopa-U's Psychic after rocks, allowing Arghonaut to attack with Drain Punch/Gunk Shot/Waterfall then follow with an Aqua Jet for the KO.

Add it as an alternate spread option in Set Details imo. Certainly a useable option considering Hoopa-U's current popularity as a wallbreaker. Also, add Manaphy to the list of setup mons that Arghonaut can handle in the overview (with a bit of SpD investment Arghonaut avoids the 2HKO from Psychic/Energy Ball, and Unaware of course ignores TG boosts).

What does everyone think of running Gunk Shot on the BU set? It can help deal with teams reliant on Fairies to check Arghonaut similar to what the tank set does, punishing Clefable for switching in thinking it can force Arghonaut out, paving the way for a sweep.

i'm not a QC, but gunk shot should be on the BU set, but not in front of Earthquake. Also, Bulk Up Arghonaut without Aqua jet is certainly viable, so you can put a slash in there as well. Also, AV Arghonaut seems a bit iffy. Arghonaut is usually there to stop zard x, that set just gets weakened easily.

MQJinx

Overview
- Mention the BU + Recover illegality which kinda sucks for it, which would otherwise likely be one of its better sets.

Tank Moves
- Elaborate on the moves a bit, like with Aqua Jet mention how it helps take down faster mons like Stratagem and Syclant.

Tank Set Details
- "200 HP hits a Leftovers number, 88 Special Defense avoids a 2HKO from uninvested Clefable's Moonblast, and the rest goes into Attack to 2HKO Clefable and have a chance to 2HKO Pyroak with Gunk Shot after rocks."
- Add Unaware mention

Bulk Up Moves
- Gunk Shot is too good for it to not have the front slash imo; it's what give the set a fighting chance against Unaware Clefable, so I'd move Gunk Shot to the front and put EQ second. Mollux/manta are a bit easier to wear down due to SR weakness and lack of recovery respectively.

Bulk Up Set Details
- Add Unaware mention

Bulk Up Team Options
- Cyclohm can provide Heal Bell support and check flyings, in return Arghonaut can check grounds and uses stuff like colo as setup bait
- When you mention wallbreakers, mention that they can blow past Haze Tomohawk, which is a huge nuisance to Arghonaut

Other Options
- Ice Punch can be removed imo. Knock Off hits Necturna hard enough on the switch-in (and Arghonaut shouldn't be staying in on Necturna anyway) and Ice Punch isn't enough to actually muscle past Tomo anyway (which also forces Arghonaut out).
- Mention base Gyarados instead of Pyroak in the Stone Edge description (Gunk Shot already hits Pyroak).

Checks and Counters
- Remove the Toxic bit in the Slowbro section since Toxic isn't mentioned anywhere else.

Do these and it's QC 1/3
