Rupt Mega, not exactly your daily SR Setter, nor mega, but still checks LO/Lefties Thundy-T.
He can't switch into LO Focus Blast, but can take any hit once & OHKO back with Fire Blast:
252+ SpA Life Orb Thundurus-T Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Camerupt: 194-229 (56.3 - 66.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Sheer Force Mega Camerupt Fire Blast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Thundurus-T: 337-397 (112.7 - 132.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Nothing else to say, it's just Rupt Mega.

It kind of bothers me how liberally people are using the term 'hard check' in this thread. As far as definition is concerned, I dont even think 'hard check' as a term exists. In this very week, there are 2 very distinct cases where the use of the term 'hard check' doesnt seem justified. Jirachi and Sylveon take very similar percentages from Thund-T, both with semi-reliable recovery, yet the former is proposed as a 'hard check', where the latter was listed as a counter, even though both can switch into Thund-T and win 100% of the time. In the same vein, comparing Raikou and Quagsire, in a context where both can switch into any move except Focus Blast, yet the former was listed as a check, whereas the latter as 'hard check'. Ultimately what perplexes me is what fundamentally put a 'hard check' into a different classification as the rest?

At the current state, the vibe I'm getting is either people are not confident enough to call their mon a counter; or just to make their checks stand out amongst the others. I propose that we should at the minimum actually define what it really constitutes, so that people can classify their proposals for what they are really worth.
It just depends who is posting.

If it's a user that likes to bold important buzzwords, they are more likely to use the term hard check, etc.

As long as the op can filter through the arbitrary nonsense, let people do what they want.

Calm Nature
- Volt Switch

Specially Defensive Mega Ampharos is an excellent check to AoA Mega Blastoise. Thanks to solid typing and special bulk of 380 / 345, Mega Ampharos can switch into everything on this set bar Ice Beam, which has a chance to 2HKO after SR, then do extremely heavy damage with Volt Switch. Ampharos can just Rest off all damage afterwards.

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Leaf Storm / Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power Ice / Hidden Power Fire / Rock Slide

Tangrowth can switch in on any of Blastoise's moves (Ice Beam does have a chance to 2HKO if rocks are up, but the damage rolls must be in Blastoise's favor,), then OHKO it with Leaf Storm. Giga Drain can help Tangrowth heal off damage, however, the healing from Regenerator is usually enough to keep it healthy, its lower speed makes using the move somewhat risky, and the decrease in damage is noticeable.

Offensive:
0 SpA Tangrowth Leaf Storm vs. 24 HP / 0 SpD Mega Blastoise: 270-320 (88.5 - 104.9%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
0 SpA Tangrowth Giga Drain vs. 24 HP / 0 SpD Mega Blastoise: 156-186 (51.1 - 60.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

0 Atk Tangrowth Rock Slide vs. 24 HP / 0 Def Mega Blastoise: 46-55 (15 - 18%) -- possible 6HKO

Defensive:

252+ SpA Mega Blastoise Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tangrowth: 73-87 (18 - 21.5%) -- possible 5HKO

Chansey is very solid counter to Blastoise-Mega as it is blessed with great special bulk + HP and with access to Evolite, it can easily deal with Blastoise-Mega. None of Mega-Blastoise's's moves do big damage to Chansey, while Chansey can just damage it with Seismic Toss, making Chansey a solid counter.

Reserving Manectric as a check

This definitely goes without saying. As with other electric types, timid M-Manectric can OHKO with Thunderbolt this particular spread after stealth rocks. This thing could switch in (scald does 74 max), but it would fear a burn from scald. Without SR, it will 2HKO regardless of the spread (with a small chance to OHKO). However, generally this thing likes to be healthy to check other things like Talon and Thundurus, so that could be a problem. Additionally, you'll have to confirm that Blastoise's spread is 24 HP 232 Speed and not 252 HP 0 Speed or something along those lines. So definitely not as solid as AV Raikou, but works if you have rocks.

EDIT: I forgot that Hydro Pump was a thing. M-Manectric is still a check, but definitely not a switch in

Calcs
252 SpA Mega Manectric Thunderbolt vs. 24 HP / 0 SpD Mega Blastoise: 270-318 (88.5 - 104.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Naive Nature

Mega Sceptile can't switch in on Ice Beam, as that OHKOs a million times over due to Sceptile's typing and mediocre defenses. However, as long as it either switches in on Hydro Pump or any of Blastoise's other coverage moves (Dark Pulse or Aura Sphere) or gets a free switch in, it easily outspeeds, even if not Mega evolved, and OHKOs in return with Leaf Storm thanks to its high Special Attack stat, making it a solid check.

252+ SpA Mega Blastoise Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Sceptile: 504-596 (179.3 - 212%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful / Calm Nature
- Waterfall / Scald
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Roar / Toxic / Dragon Tail

Defensive Gyarados is perhaps one of the most overlooked defensive threats there is. Water/Flying allows Gyarados to reliably switch into stuff like Keldeo, Heatran, Metagross, Azumarill, Charizard etc and wear them down with residual damage.

The strongest move Blastoise has against Gyarados would be Dark Pulse, which is a 4HKO at best. In return, Gyarados can easily Rest up and deal chip damage via Scald or Toxic. Dragon Tail and Roar are also good options in the last slot to deal with other set up sweepers, but if lacking Scald or Toxic, Gyarados would need 6 hits to KO Blastoise in return, which leaves it rather susceptible to hax.

252+ SpA Mega Launcher Mega Blastoise Dark Pulse vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Gyarados: 107-126 (27.2 - 32%) -- 49% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Toxicroak can't switch into Ice Beam since it 2HKOes while Gunk Shot also 2HKOes M-Blastoise, so I'd put it as a check instead.

Milotic @ Leftovers

Bold Nature
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic / Dragon Tail
- Mirror Coat / Haze

Even being defensive, Milotic may come on any Blastoise-mega's move without taking important damages. Its support moves allow Milotic to destabilize the opposing team, by burning with scald or forcing a switch with dragon tail. Recover totally prevents Blastoise from killing Milotic which makes it a strong counter.
Moreover Milotic is an interesting switch-in against an eventual scald of Blastoise or other since it will benefit of Marvel Scale. Toxic and Haze will be used according to what you need in your team and Dragon Tail/Mirror coat are moves that can annoy the opponent.

252+ SpA Mega Launcher Mega Blastoise Dark Pulse vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Milotic: 121-143 (30.7 - 36.3%)
252+ SpA Mega Launcher Mega Blastoise Aura Sphere vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Milotic: 121-143 (30.7 - 36.3%)

Toxicroak can take anything except Ice Beam, heal up with Drain Punch and then KO Blastoise with Gunk Shot afterwards.
