PUPL Teams / Set Dump

Arbok @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Switcheroo
- Gunk Shot
- Ice Fang
- Earthquake
Going through this week i was 0-2 and we desperately needed a victory to have any chance to make playoff so i finally built a team i put some thought into. Klang is a very underrated threat in PU so i built some kind of Ground overload team to be able to sweep with it. The first idea was to use the amazing Choice Scarf Ice Fang Arbok since i kinda knew shiny hunter Raiza would have brought a Gabite or a Torterra and i managed to get a kill turn one somehow and to trick Poliwrath a Choice Scarf Later.

FREE PUSSY RIOT (Arbok) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Switcheroo
- Gunk Shot
- Ice Fang
- Earthquake

Another cool set i used is the Poliwrath set. I always liked using Defensive Poliwrath without Rest+Sleep Talk so i settled on a hybrid set with Circle Throw, Scald, and Protect. I would generally reserve the last slot to Toxic but in the end i used Ice Beam because of my weakness to Torterra. Coolstuff.

Poliwrath @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 192 Def / 64 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Circle Throw
- Protect
- Toxic / Ice Beam

EV Spread lets me outspeed most Golem and Torterra trying to outrun Golem most of the time. Protect is an amazing move and 49 can confirm.

Week 4
vs scorpdestroyer
Swalot @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sticky Hold
EVs: 248 HP / 200 SpA / 60 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam

Furfrou @ Leftovers
Ability: Fur Coat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Thunder Wave
- U-turn
- Return
- Sucker Punch

Duosion @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Signal Beam
- Recover

Piloswine @ Eviolite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Icicle Spear
- Ice Shard

Pelipper @ Leftovers
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Air Slash
- Scald

Sawsbuck @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Seed Bomb
- Double-Edge
- Jump Kick
- Baton Pass
Ok so this match wasn't really relevant for the week so we brought some fun teams (we had 2 FU Pokemon each i guess) that made for an interesting game. The star of the show was clearly Swalot, able to beat a Poliwrath 1v1 before being revenged by Trapinch of all things and Furfrou getting off a suicide Thunder Wave lol. This team also has perfect record in room tournaments and brought me to about #5 on the ladder as Duosion is amazingly consistent and Piloswine + Pelipper is just amazing with Swalot and Fufrou in the back. Seed Bomb is used over Horn Leech since the latter has a 6% chance not to OHKO full health Carracosta and I'm not about that.

Week 5
vs Montsegur
Ruby '81 (Raichu) @ Life Orb
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast

Leisureforce (Simipour) @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Knock Off
- Grass Knot
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam

Fryerstarter (Stunfisk) @ Leftovers
Ability: Static
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Protect
- Discharge
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock

Grace (Roselia) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 112 Def / 136 SpD / 12 Spe
Calm Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Spikes
- Synthesis

Tetra (Machoke) @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Def / 20 SpD / 60 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dynamic Punch
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Heavy Slam

Homemade Mummy (Misdreavus) @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe
Timid Nature
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Foul Play
- Pain Split
Play on smogtours if you don't want to forget to save replays. Anyway i am lucky with speed ties and this team is weak to Ice and physical Aurorus which itself loses to the two most popular Pokemon in the tier. Also Roselia is good.

The HO Team that Ary used against Robert Alfons
Kadabra @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD / 30 Spe
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Encore
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

Regice @ Life Orb
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Rock Polish
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast

Pawniard @ Eviolite
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch

Simipour @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Knock Off
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot

Gabite @ Eviolite
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 248 HP / 56 Atk / 104 Def / 100 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Toxic

Arbok @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Tail
- Gunk Shot
- Sucker Punch
- Coil
I built this pretty quickly thinking of the balanced teams that Robert Alfons used were pretty weak to Simipour (what arent lol) so basically i started with that and added Regice and Arbok who also like weakened Poliwrath and such. Team requires big balls to play but it is quite effective all around.

I am 0-2 when using Clefairy, shit mon. Raiza add the good ones to sample teams. I also built some other teams i think but ill post later if anything

This is the team I used vs Cherub Agent in week 1. It was built by 49 and me and I figured people would bring rain week 1 since its a new tier for most of them who played it(I predicted correctly :]) so spdef Twave Clef, Specs Electrode and Quilladin should have a good matchup vs most rain teams. The team was build around Acid Armor Duosion and Spikes Quilladin to wear down Dark-types, I got the idea for this strategy from the standard Reuniclus Sand builds in gen 5 which use Spikes from Ferrothorn or Skarmory to wear down Tyranitars and Scizors. 49 helped me patch up weaknesses to the team by suggesting spdef CM Clefairy to form a Magic Guard CM spam core and the legendary Choice Scarf Relicanth which turned out to be extremely helpful by surprise killing Cherubs Electabuzz. Specs Electrode fucks with offense and then theres bulky Taunt Krokorok which I optimized the spread for after playing with it for a while and it acts as a perfect glue mon on this team as it provides Stealth Rock and a Dark/Electric immunity.

Unfortunately Electrode and Clefairy moved up quickly due to frequent use in PU and its not looking like they're going to drop again anytime soon. This means I'll be saying goodbye to this team, it was good in this meta as long as it lasted.

None of you care about DPP NU anyway but I'll dump some sets. After being pretty standard in NUPL I wanted to shake it up a bit in PUPL.

Nidoqueen @ Leftovers
Ability: Poison Point
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Earthquake
- Counter

Would usually be Ice Beam or some other attack over Counter, but this set can lure Tauros and Medicham (Yes it can live some, most iirc, Psycho Cuts/Zen Headbutts)

Charizard @ Salac Berry
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 92 HP / 220 Atk / 196 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Substitute
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake

Charizard is usually just max speed max attack. I found that outrunning Scarf Medicham after the +1 is the most it probably needs. 92 HP gets it to an even number (innovamania seems to like odd HP on BellyZard... not sure why) and allowed its sub to survive some specific attack I can't remember after Memento/Screens etc.

Diglett @ Custap Berry
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- Reversal
- Shadow Claw

My entire team from week 3 was innovative, but I'm highlighting just one set here. I'll probably end up RMTing it eventually. Diglett is generally considered useless in DPP NU. The only common mon that Diglett could feasibly trap is Skuntak, but Skuntank has Sucker Punch. You could go Focus Sash, but rocks are usually assumed, as spinners are not that great and Haunter/Drifblim are common partners of Skuntank anyway. Instead, I went Sub Custap, letting the Earthquake at the end go before Sucker Punch and deal like 80-90% iirc, more than enough to remove Skuntank by force after just a touch of chip prior, which is not hard as Skuntank is often a sort of glue mon that takes a hit coming in on Slowking, etc.

Week 4 was pretty standard TR, though I guess maybe the Haunter lead was somewhat innovative? It exists, just not common.
Week 5 Custap Machoke lead was too innovative and not a set I recommend

I didn't really innovate much during PUPL but I used some stuff that might be worth sharing:

Gabite @ Choice Band
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Dual Chop
- Stone Edge/Toxic/Iron Tail/Facade/general filler

CB Gabite is my shit yo. Dragon + Ground coverage basically means nothing really wants to come in on this thing because it hits pretty much everything relevant in the meta with its STABs alone, and the high BP of its moves more than compensates for its base 90 Attack stat. I'm more keen on using this over other Dragon types that can run CB, such as Zweilous and Fraxure (I guess?), because base 82 speed is just so tight right now as u can outspeed and destroy base 80s such as Grumpig and Arbok even when u run an Adamant nature (the moment people start running Timid Grumpig is the moment I stop playing this shitty fucking game). Another nice bonus is that this thing absorbs Volt Switches which is cool cuz fuck free momentum (guess the fact that Zeb likes to run HP Ice nowadays kinda sucks though). It can't take any neutral hits but otherwise this thing is pretty cool and definitely worth trying out.

Torterra @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake
- Rock Polish

Simply a hybrid of previously existing Torterra sets. Having a Stealth Rock setter that outspeeds and beats the shit out of Poliwrath (bar LO RD) is really cool tbh, and being able to go for the late-game sweep with RP is nice too. Make sure you have something for opposing Grass-types and you can put in some work, passing Stone Edge up isn't even that big of a deal because you hit most things hard enough with your STABs anyway.

Arbok @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Coil
- Gunk Shot
- Aqua Tail
- Sucker Punch

20:56 Fagtron !usage arbok, items
20:56 TIBot Black Sludge 85.149% | Leftovers 7.993% | Life Orb 2.482% | Other 4.375%

I really never cared too much for Black Sludge on Arbok, I feel like its item slot is very flexible and people are doing themselves a disservice by not tweaking their Arbok sets to fit their teams optimally. Shuca Arbok is a favourite of mine because Arbok can reliably beat Piloswine like this (don't try to set up on Pilo though, force a switch into it as you Coil, then tank an EQ as you 2HKO with Aqua Tail), which makes it a lot easier for shit like RP Torterra and Zebstrika to clean opposing teams. It also has a much better shot at beating Torterra like this, so that's cool too. In the final week I used this thing with Safety Goggles because its funny and it means it can switch into Tangela without fear of getting put to sleep (and Jumpluff to an extent, although Acrobatics sadly hurts :<). I don't really recommend that for most teams, though. Just be more creative with Arbok, people!

Banned deucer.
I think my team is out (idk), but here are some stuff that I was planning to use and trc wanted me to post so yeh:

Wartortle @ Eviolite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Toxic
- Mirror Coat

Didn't get a chance to use this cause got annoyed with how my games ended the last two weeks (-_-), but this thing is pretty decent. It can stand up to certain SR users like Piloswine and fat Turtle very well and can get a surprise kill on Poliwrath and Probopass with Mirror Coat, which is pretty nice too. Not much to say, but I think Mirror Coat is quite nice on this because it makes it so that Wartortle can do something other than spin and spam Scald. It's super tanky, passive, and very hard to OHKO from what I've found, so a move like Mirror Coat is superb on it. Not that you should do this when you still need it to spin, but in particular, it can easily tank SE Volt Switches pretty easily: 252 SpA Life Orb Zebstrika Volt Switch vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Wartortle: 174-205 (54.2 - 63.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Zweilous @ Eviolite
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Toxic
- Crunch
- Superpower

Another NFE tank. I'm not sure if SpD Zwei is much of a thing here, but I've never seen anyone use double status on this, so I thought I'd elaborate on how this set worked. Basically, it's meant to lure in and cripple a lot of the stuff that would normally switch in on it to help its teammates set up/sweep. Toxic bones Tangela, offensive Poli, etc, whereas Thunder lets Zweilous cripple a lot of annoying threats such as Simipour and Jumpluff that think they can tank an uninvested attack. Superpower is also quite good on this from what I found because Probopass usually stays in because it doesn't fear Zwei more often than not, and destroying Probopass is awesome for stuff like Jumpluff and Clefairy. Crunch is for reliable STAB and all that junk and makes this thing a Solid Duosion check, while dealing respectable damage to the Electrics it's meant to check, those being Raichu and Zebstrika. This thing is major Clefairy bait though, which is annoying.

Dedenne @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pickup
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Nuzzle
- Play Rough
- Wild Charge
- U-turn

And now for the Magnemite special™. Magnemite loves this set. Like A LOT. Ass Vest Dedenne is a lord set in RU, as this set single handedly saved RU at the time by countering the all-powerful Noivern. Noivern itself fled to the lands of BL2, fearing this Dedenne's power. There isn't much more to say other than the fact that trc got destroyed by it when I brought my lizard squad (hottest joke team) in a test match.

I didn't find the motivation to innovate much during weeks 1 and 2, which I kind of regret. My playing really only picked up very late on so I couldn't do most of these justice, but some of them paid off in testing so I'll just post them here:

Week 3
vs Montsegur
Simipour @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Substitute

Leavanny @ Focus Sash
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Electroweb
- Sticky Web
- Leaf Storm
- Knock Off

Ninetales @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Nasty Plot
- Energy Ball
- Will-O-Wisp

Golem @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Sucker Punch

Mr. Mime @ Life Orb
Ability: Soundproof
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dazzling Gleam
- Taunt
- Psyshock
- Healing Wish

Klang @ Eviolite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 60 HP / 252 Atk / 196 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Gear Grind
- Wild Charge
- Shift Gear
- Return

I've always thought Sticky Web was a very strong playstyle even if not a lot of people do, so I decided to bring it on a week when we needed a win. Unfortunately, I played like complete shit so I ended up losing anyway. There were a few big reasons why I felt webs would work well: everybody was spamming Zebstrika as their fast mon and zeb is easily outsped in webs, and at the same time webs had enough room to overwhelm bulky cores. The whole team was meant to have a ton of offensive pressure so that I didn't have to resort to Pawniard / Purugly to pressure Defoggers; Ninetales is the only thing that gives space to Pelipper. Also, there was no need for a ghost because lol who uses spinners anyway? A few "underrated" stuff I used in this team:

Taunt + Healing Wish Mr. Mime: most people were turning to paralysis support from Grumpig and Clefairy to check Psychic-types. Life Orb Mr. Mime is a god because it hits real hard and provides Healing Wish support, and Taunt just means Mr. Mime gets past both of these bulky paralyzing stuff. It didn't work in the game vs Mont but it did well in testing vs GrimoireGod.

Offensive Shift Gear + 3 Attacks Klang: I was inspired after I nearly got destroyed by Detect Marowak's CB Klang, so I thought why not. It just happened to fit nicely on my team as well. It provides a very nice switch in to Jumpluff after Sleep Clause (or you could run Sleep Talk > Wild Charge but I felt Wild Charge was quite important) and also sets up on Clefairy and Roselia, and choiced Stout / Dodrio. EVs here could be optimized but at +2 they outspeed Scarf Mime under webs and Zebstrika out of it. It hits deceptively hard, and would've won me the game if it weren't so blind.

Week 4:
vs galbia

Unfortunately, I deleted the team but I just brought mostly semi-serious stuff anyway since our match no longer mattered.

Trapinch @ Eviolite
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Toxic
- Quick Attack

I paired this with Autotomize Vanilluxe, but this could probably work with other Ice-types like Regice. Basically, this traps stuff like Clefairy and does enough to Grumpig (around 60% iirc) to ensure that Flash Cannon from Vanilluxe KOs. Trapinch can also take any one hit from full from offensive mons like Ninetales and Zebstrika and KO them.

Week 5
vs Magnemite (August)

Linoone @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Pickup
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Def / 40 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Extreme Speed
- Return
- Seed Bomb

Misdreavus @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 124 Def / 136 Spe
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Memento
- Foul Play
- Taunt

Altaria @ Choice Specs
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Pulse
- Roost

Garbodor @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 248 HP / 160 Def / 100 Spe
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Haze
- Gunk Shot
- Pain Split

Poliwrath @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Rain Dance
- Hydro Pump
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam

Krokorok @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake

Another team with some sets that are frankly kind of stupid but they actually kind of worked. I was confident that Magnemite wouldn't bring Misdreavus or Signal Beam Musharna, because he never does that, so I figured that Linoone would be a good choice. This team was meant to be anti-meta and have good stops to common threats like Samurott, Lilligant, Sneasel, Musharna, and Tauros. I went with a Linoone set that does well vs bulky stuff like Musharna and Garbodor, the former of which I thought he would bring for sure. I wanted to try out Altaria as well. It's really underrated and there's absolutely nothing that wants to switch into Dragon Pulse in the frail metagame, much less a Specs Draco. It also checks Lilligant and checks rain dance sweepers too. Scarf Intimidate Krokorok is a really bad set but I wanted a scarfer, a pursuit trapper, a Musharna check, and SR all in one slot, so lol. It caught him completely off guard because it outsped and KOed an Exeggutor under webs 8) I'll go a bit more in depth with stuff that can apply to the ORAS meta:

Return Linoone: +6 252+ Atk Linoone Return vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Musharna: 390-459 (90 - 106%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO is the main reason I used this, but also that I was fine with giving up Shadow Claw because Mag doesn't really like Missy. 100 Speed means that Linoone's Return targets are mostly slower than it and it gives you less work to do when wearing stuff down. Return on Linoone didn't end up doing anything but yeah, it's a valid option especially when ghosts are less common nowadays.

Memento Misdreavus: It's a decent option to finish off Misdreavus's job. Not much to say here, if you've got a spare slot and a setup sweeper, Memento is something to consider.

Not much to explain, everything softens up everything else for tauros. Missy is there because i'm not sure if there's ever a reason not to use it in xy pu, Kadabra is there so i dont lose to anything at +2. Fun team, gotta thank Kush and 49 for the help and the idea of using sd licki to improve my weather match up.

Serperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Piloswine @ Eviolite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 164 Atk / 128 SpA / 216 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Freeze-Dry

Lickilicky @ Leftovers
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 248 HP / 72 Atk / 164 SpD / 24 Spe
Careful Nature
- Protect
- Swords Dance
- Body Slam
- Power Whip

Misdreavus @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 32 Def / 120 SpD / 108 Spe
Calm Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Taunt
- Foul Play

Kadabra @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Encore
- Psychic
- Signal Beam
- Thunder Wave

Tauros (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Rock Climb
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake
- Zen Headbutt

I didn't exactly do well, but I have 3 sets that I didn't really get to show off that I wanted to share.

Offensive Stealth Rock Monferno (Week 3 vs C0mp):

Monferno @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Focus Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast

The logic behind this set was that I needed rocks in order to wear down pokemon so cm aurorus can put in work, something to lure in poliwrath, and something to come in on piloswine doubles trying to switch in to aurorus. Focus Blast>Close Combat because Close Combat is only a 3hko on Poliwrath, while Focus Blast is a 2hko 95% of the time. This set also always ohkos Pelipper and Swanna with HP Electric all the time, something sets without Life Orb can't do, which means that it can set up rocks on defoggers which is terrific. The main drawbacks of this set is that it's setup fodder for Clefairy, but there's a ton of pokeomn that are setup fodder for Clefairy so that's not really a big downside. Not a top tier set by any means but it's a solid set.

CB Arbok(week 4 vs anty):

Arbok @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Seed Bomb
- Switcheroo
- Gunk Shot
- Earthquake

This set got crit by a +I don't remember what Gogoat after missing a Gunk Shot which really sucked but oh well lol. Thanks to Mael for giving me the idea to run this. The idea of this was to take advantage of the huge amount of Clefairys. Seed Bomb is used over Aqua Tail because it hits Carracosta much harder than Aqua Tail and Earthquake, and hits most of the targets of Aqua Tail. I was debating running Pursuit or Sucker Punch, but I just added a Pawniard instead. I don't exactly have much to say about this but it's a sweet set.

Electrode(week 5 vs TONE114):

Electrode @ Choice Specs
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 56 HP / 252 SpA / 200 Spe
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice] / HP Grass
- Signal Beam

Speed evs outspeed Zebstrika, there isn't any other notable benchmark that modest hits afaik. I'm pretty sure this has gotten a little hype in nu, but I wanted to see how well it does in pu. Now I know what you are thinking, "why would I ever use this over Zebstrika?" The answer is its ability to run modest due to it being much faster than Zebstrika. No Overheat is pretty dumb but I really like the significantly higher damage output that Electrode gives. Moves are pretty self explanatory, though if you ever use it, I highly recommend running HP Grass, I ran hp ice and highly regret not running grass due to Piloswine totally cockblocking this set. This set puts in a ton of work vs offensive teams and solid work vs fatter archetypes. The only other thing I can say is don't knock it before you try it, because I know you're thinking similar to what mael told when we were testing, "here's my advice, use a better pokemon."

Wish I had done better in this but it was still a great experience thanks for letting me have this experience marowaks.

Not sure how much innovation I had as opposed to just sets that already existed but don't see any use and I find underrated.

Leavanny @ Focus Sash
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sticky Web
- Knock Off
- X-Scissor
- Electroweb
Scorp and I both thought webs are criminally underrated but this is a cool set I came up with before finding out it's apparently a thing in RU. Normally they can just lead Swanna and prevent webs but electroweb is pretty godly. Also helps if they lead with something like Rapidash which outspeeds your entire team without webs, as you can slow it down before webbing to handle it easier.

Ninetales @ Passho Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power [Ground]
People have been hating on Tales since Galbia told everybody Simisear is way better, but it cant hold a Passho and set up Nasty Plot as well as tales can, while still having nice bulk. Used this twice because godly.

Simipour @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid / Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Grass Knot
- Focus Blast / Surf
- Ice Beam
This is actually the best scarfer outside of maybe mime and buck, fits really nicely on a lot of offensive teams that can handle wrath, has good power especially with torrent boosted hydros, can sometimes catch people off guard. Used it twice, it won me the game once and would've won the game had I not been too chicken to hit 3 hydros vs dundies / choked. idr what modest doesnt beat but it's probably still a good option.

Articuno @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Agility
- Hurricane
- Ice Beam
- Roost / HP Fighting
Cuno is really really good outside of when they have hazards up and even when people do use it it's always sub/roost. Agility is still a really nice sweeper that has solid bulk and yeah it's fun

Ultimate counterteam to Anty's Golduck and overall nice scarfer, won't beat floatzel and zebstrika or anything that's set up apart from adamant fraxure at +1 (bad set) but it's more for just patching up this thing's speed and hitting stuff hard. Was better when sun was broken but still really cool.

Floatzel @ Mystic Water
Ability: Water Veil
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Aqua Jet
Normally this is taunt or baton pass, but aqua jet is just nice for picking things off like weakened zebras and stuff, it's not too weak and makes floatzel even more obnoxious.

This is broken if rocks aren't up and is stupidly annoying for bulky teams reliant on tangela, offensive teams reliant on zebra+ursaring+slower scarfer like mime for speed control, and bulky teams that you spam u-turn against

Supposed to be modest tales on webs since timid is really for scarf mime only, other than that a lot of my teams got EVs changed around for some reason, I caught all the big stuff but not like salac activation stuff I guess

RIP this meta, i still have fun innovations though but im not dumping teams (sorry if its hard to read)

Week One: This was build for a NP raichu sweep but the game did not go how anyone planned it lol:

Knock Off (offensive) Tangela
Basically this lures roselia and puts it in range of +2 HP ice from rose (assuming not bad 252/252+ set)
+2 252 SpA Life Orb Raichu Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 128+ SpD Roselia: 250-296 (82.2 - 97.3%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
It worked out great as he had a vigoroth which because of knock off, this would break (even w/o the apower boosts)

Stoutland @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Return
- Facade
- Pursuit / Toxic
- Superpower
This is nice for luring faster mons which can also stop raichu. It actually OHKOs raichu, and has a chance to OHKO zebby with rocks and a better chance for floatzel. It is quite weak and a lot of the time it isnt worth using, but its an alright suprise. Adamant nature can be used, but i used jolly as i was regice weak.

I also used a Swanna EV'd to outspeed Stoutland, then rest in Spatk then rest in bulk as nobody uses anything in between (well now cuno has gotten more popular but that reks it either way

Week 2: Not going to post long sets since there wasnt much, but the main ones where:

Leaf Storm offensive roselia - it is so strong, like OHKOs piloswine. IMO every offensive rose should run that
Mystic Water Floatzel + Taunt - other have used it since then as it is a really nice lure and though it can be weak at times, its still a huge threat to offense
Scarf Rapidash - this set can be really mediocre at times or quite nice. Annoyingly c0mp had a defensive wrath which meant all this was useful for was momentum

Week 3: I used a sort of hyper/heavy offensive team based around a rocker, memento pluff, two set up sweepers, kadabra, and a wallbreaker. And what better wallbreaker than dragonair?

Dragonair @ Life Orb
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 8 SpA / 248 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Fire Blast
- Outrage
- Iron Tail
It is quite fun NGL as it breaks most of fraxures checks; 2HKOs piloswine, tangela, clefairy, etc and weakens a lot of walls and can get some chip damage on faster mons with espeed. Although all it did was weaken torterra, that would be enough for fraxure to sweep as otherwise his team was pretty weak to it (annoyingly i forgot EVs which would have made the game down to a 50/50)

Week 4: I used a team based around gogoat (underrated af) which had one cool set:

Simipour @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Nasty Plot
This is played like a regular wallbreaking simipour which instead of using coverage to hit one/two specific mons, i used nasty plot. This would not only break any passive team which had been getting more popular, but it also really eases prediction. For example if the opp has a poliwrath and a roselia then instead of it being a 50/50 to predict, you nasty plot then KO whatever comes in.

Final: I did a lot of 'research' for this game (made a ppad w/ all his teams and noted how he builds) so i saw some consistent weaknesses. Fortunately i didnt build just around this as a barbaracle which would fuck all his other teams, would have been lured by scarf floatzel (idk if it outspeeds modest scarf floatzel w/ jolly). Here i used one of my favourite sets in PU i have been wanting to share:

Monferno @ Life Orb
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Mach Punch
- Close Combat
- Fire Punch
Adamant LO Iron Fist SD Monferno. This hits really hard after a boost, and with stealth rock it can OHKO most faster mons (simipour/zebby/etc). The main problems to this are defensive pelipper (only bulky mon to properly fuck it), jumpluff, mime, and kadabra (faster mons that resist mach punch, though kaddy can get OHKOd w/o sash lol). It is a bit frail, but you can force out a lot like roselia/stoutland/etc, and in the game i wanted to set up on vullaby or auroras, and since grumpig took a focus blast it would have swept, but I never got to ;(.
Metang is also really good

Anyway although my record wasnt great for a 26k god, all the games i played were close and i really enjoyed this. Lets hope next year I wont confuse whoever hosts when they ask for managers! s/o to the team as well, you guys were cool

I'll post a few sets now that I just finished my last game. I actually didn't innovate at all until my finals game vs Anty but it managed to help me out a lot.

Kinglernumbers (Floatzel) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Water Veil
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Baton Pass

Scarfed Floatzel is actually pretty good and in a way it's better than scarfed Simipour. With Modest, it reaches the same Speed as Simipour but it actually hits harder and has access to Baton Pass, which is really helpful. I managed to surprise Anty with it by outspeeding and KOing his Zebstrika which ended up being pretty crucial. edit: RawMelon actually introduced me to this so shoutout :o

Kiyo (Aurorus) @ Never-Melt Ice
Ability: Refrigerate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Freeze-Dry
- Earth Power
- Flash Cannon

This set really isn't too innovative, but Aurorus actually took on a lot of Anty's teams in past weeks and I ended up adding it to my team as a sorta last second thing. Since I know he wouldn't be expecting scarfed Floatzel, I figured I would bluff scarfed Aurorus by running Never-Melt Ice but I ended up only using one move with this thing so it didn't really matter in the end.

PUPL was really fun and I can't wait until next year.

i better not go for something as low as 5k again next year zzz

XY PU:

Monferno @ Life Orb | Iron Fist
4 Atk / 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe | Rash
Fire Blast | Mach Punch | Grass Knot | Hidden Power Electric

http://spo.ink/monferno
252+ SpA Life Orb Monferno Vacuum Wave vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Jirachi: 66-79 (19.3 - 23.1%)
4 Atk Life Orb Iron Fist Monferno Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Jirachi: 55-66 (16.1 - 19.3%)

So uh... why are you Mach Punch? Does it just not get Vacuum Wave in XY or something?

ill be honest man i threw together the team in like 5 minutes figured that mach punch had a higher chance of OHKOing eviolite sneasel, Vaccuum wave probably works better but that was the set I used so that was the set I dumped

I didn't really innovate anything (used the legendary SD lansat armaldo) but I did use a couple of new things that hadn't been seen before; Teddeh built the finals team so if he wants to post it he can :)
