Arena
Fairy-type Gym Arena
The ASB TournamentFairy-type Gym Arena

Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fansFairy-type Pokemon, the ASBFairy-type Gym Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are ALMOST no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle. However, the Fairy spectators are impatient and want to see a match. If a trainer hesitates excessively during the battle (read: goes over DQ), they will swarm and attack.

Summary:
- Standard rules
- If you go over DQ (however slightly), the fairies will brutally murder you [Note: if you post in LOA, or give a not-shitty reason AHEAD OF TIME, I won't DQ you]

The challenger unsurprisingly leads with Kitsunoh, you know given it was built specifically to be a lead. Meanwhile the Leader goes with the strange and somewhat eclectic choice of Destiny Knot Wigglytuff. Perhaps wanting to further infuriate a spectating IAR and fuel the Fairy powered hax machine. Not the worst strategy when you can infatuate 2/3 of the challenger's team but then again perhaps use of Wigglytuff at all is questionable given how little it wants to face anything on the other side. Variety is said to be the spice of life however and that 120 HP is mighty nice for a gym that usually starts with so many 90s. Of course Texas immediately takes advantage of this with repeated Super Fangs, even if the second one is a strange choice given potential damage from STAB alone. Meanwhile Wigglytuff, who might I add has a Japanese name that is consistently making me think of puke, struggles to deal major damage without a boosting item and is not helped one bit by Cute Charm consistently refusing to proc. Texas opens up an early lead, but I can personally attest to how little that can actually mean here.

Unless I misread it Frisk should negate the rank boost saving Emma 1.5 damage

Switching to Metagross @ Metagrossite

Want to know two surefire ways to whittle down your own advantage? Step 1: initiate a switch phase that is sure to result in a negative match up for yourself. Step 2: forget to Mega Evolve. Texas pulled off both of these things masterfully. Of course I suppose the forgetting to Mega Evolve didn't hurt as much as it could, just some minor differences on HP totals and the Rocks put up by both sides definitely appear to be more useful for the challenger but now a sluggish Metagross has to order first in this aforementioned bad match up.

And with an A+ example of how to order second Elevator Music wrenches back the HP advantage and makes Wigglytuff and Togekiss smile by removing the massively dangerous ROcky. Metagross had a lot more fun when Steel resisted Ghost and Dark.

Remember what I said about those rocks being more important for the challenger? They were the key ingredient here in removing Wigglytuff before she could really be much of a factor in this match at all. Also Pukurin must be the most unappealing Wigglytuff ever because that's 0/6 on Cute Charm.

Its pretty much a given that if you have to order first against Bariyaado then Elevator Music is going to use his gigantic bag of tricks to abuse your substitutions in the worst way. It's also pretty much a given that any challenger is going to do his best to remove whatever item Mr. Mime is holding (even on the off chance it isn't an Odd Incense). Both of these things happened this round. Bariyaado managed to engineer it so he lost his item, stole Kitsunoh's then lost that too. But then unfortunately for Texas the dreaded Encore came and now Kit is destined to ENKO itself. Don't worry Texas I defintely feel your pain on that front. However it cost Mr. Mime about 1/3 of his life to do it and he still has to find a way to avoid two more incoming Knock Offs before Kitsunoh goes for the permanent nap.

Having successfully completed the set up last round this was an easy one for EM and a frustrating round for Texas. The leader managed to avoid one forced Knock Off but Texas was able to further spread that HP advantage before Kitsunoh unfortunately went down. Elevator Music was even able to ensure some future damage on Snorlax, but 130 HP is still an awful lot to bring down.
