Snivy QC 4/4 GP 2/2

Quick note before GP, the HP Fire spread should be 76 HP / 240 SpA / 176 Spe. Also, HP Fire can be removed from OO since it's listed/mentioned on both sets. Sorry I didn't make an actual post sooner Tricking, and thank you Rowan for taking initiative on this.

Snivy is the only Pokemon in the tier which has access to Contrary, which grants it a Special Attack boost when using Leaf Storm. This characteristic makes Snivy the best offensive Grass-type. Along with its Snivy's decent 17 speed and Contrary allows it to be one of the best Sticky Web counters in the tier. The decent 17 speed refers to Snivy, not Contrary. Despite of this, it has access to a very limited Special movepool. I don't see how Snivy's movepool is connected to the previous sentence. Perhaps use "however" instead. It has a decent bulk if used with Eviolite, which sometimes somewhat makes up for its bad defensive typing. It Snivy also has access to Glare which helps Snivy it wallbreak and paralyze faster threats which resists to Leaf Storm.

Moves

Leaf Storm is the a powerful STAB move. Snivy gets a +2 SpA boost thanks to its ability Contrary when this move is used. Oddly choppy last two sentences. I'm sure you could find a good way to combine them, such as "Leaf Storm is a powerful STAB move that also provides Snivy a +2 SpA boost due to Contrary." Glare is a good option to get inflict paralysis when you think a counter is about being to be switched in. Knock Off removes the foe's item. It might help Snivy wallbreak by removing Berry Juice from Sturdy users: this can contribute to a late-game sweep by Snivy or a teammate. Sounds like these last two sentences can be combined as well, into something like "Knock Off removes the foe's item which can help Snivy wallbreak by removing Berry Juice from Sturdy Users." Not sure if you really need to mention the late game sweep thing, but that's your choice. Synthesis allows it to recover HP provides reliable recovery. Hidden Power Ground hits Fire-types which Snivy couldn't can't deal with otherwise, whilst Hidden Power Ice allows it to hit Grass- and Flying-types and it is the best Hidden Power that Snivy can use when paired with Diglett. The Diglett comment is kind of hard to understand, especially for those who are looking to learn the tier. Hidden Power Flying helps deal with Grass-types as well, and hits super effectively some Grass-type resistors resists such as Croagunk and Larvesta. Hidden Power Fire helps deal with other Grass-types and Steel-types.

Set Details

Its ability, Contrary, allows Snivy to reverse stat changes get its stats boosted when they are lowered. In particular, when Snivy uses Leaf Storm, instead of having its Special Attack halved, it gets a +2 boost. Then, 240 Special Attack EVs are given Snivy for powerful attacks and 240 SpA EVs optimize Snivy's SpA stat and 252 Speed EVs along with a Timid Nature are given used to reach 17 Speed. Eviolite gives Snivy a decent bulk. If using Hidden Power Fire, use the following EVs spread: 76 HP / 236 SpA / 176 Spe. Could you maybe explain why that EV spread is useful?

Usage Tips
========
Snivy can deal big amounts of damage thanks to Leaf Storm and the boost it gets from Contrary. Knock Off and the Hidden Power is the best way to weaken a counter or a strong check to Grass-type moves, when it is about being switched in on switch in. Glare can provide is nice as well when you are looking for speed control. Because of Eviolite, Snivy can pivot well into Ground- or Water-types, such as Drilbur and Staryu. It also works also as a switch-in to Defog, as Defog increases Snivy's evasion because of Contrary.

Team Options
========
Diglett is one of the best teammates because if you predict the switch correctly, you can trap and revenge-kill almost all non-Hidden Power Ground Snivy's counters if it is lacking Hidden Power Ground. Gothita can help against Ferroseed and Foongus, but needs a switch-in to Fire- and Grass-type moves, such as Ponyta and Houndour. I'm not quite sure what you mean by this sentence. I'm getting that you say Gothita is a good partner because of Ferroseed and Foongus, but it can't switch into Fire- or Grass-type moves so it would appreciate Ponyta and Houndour support. I would think Snivy could provide a Grass-type switch in, but overall, this last sentence is a little confusing in what it recommends. If you are recommending a Fire-type switch-in to accompany Snivy, perhaps take another sentence to mention that. Hazards setters are useful to Snivy because hazards can heavily weaken the opponent's team they contribute to weaken a lot the opponent's team. Then Archen and Chinchou are also good options because you need to check Flying-types such as Fletchling and Archen; on this note side even Ponyta could be useful due to a potential burn pretty nice because it might burn them.

Leaf Storm is the powerful STAB move. Snivy gets a +2 SpA boost thanks to its ability Contrary when this move is used. See the above comments about combining the last two sentences. Glare paralyzes the target and is useful to catch if needed against faster mons or solid checks such as Ponyta and Larvesta on the switch in switching in. Knock Off can be used to remove items in order to and can weaken bulky Pokemon such as Vullaby and Pumpkaboo by removing their Eviolite. Substitute and Berry Juice provides to give Snivy an with useful recovery. Substitute blocks status moves such as Thunder Wave, which would prevent Snivy from sweeping in late-game. This move It can also ease predictions, as you can use it to avoid some annoying 50/50 situations such as Sucker Punch scenarios or double switches. Hidden Power Ground hits Fire-types which Snivy couldn't cannot deal with otherwise, whilst Hidden Power Ice allows it to hit Grass- and Flying-types. Hidden Power Flying helps deal with Grass-types as well, and hits super effectively some Grass-type resistors resists such as Croagunk and Larvesta. Leaf Storm deals a lot of damage and provides to a Contrary boost, Substitute can be used against Pokemon with Thunder Wave or other status moves and at the same time also can be used to recover Snivy's HP. You can also use it also when you predict a switch in order to to ease predictions and use Knock Off or Glare afterwards safely. Snivy is able to pivot if switched into bulky Water-types, such as Chinchou, Slowpoke, and Tirtouga. Anyways, w Without Eviolite, however, it can't switch into many other things, so it's better to use it as a kind of revenge-killer.

Team Options
========
You should add switch-ins to Fire-types, such as Ponyta and Staryu, and to Flying-types, such as Tirtouga, Chinchou, and Archen. Gothita or Diglett are able to trap and KO its most common counters depending on Snivy's coverage, as Diglett can trap and revenge-kill almost all Snivy's counters if Snivy lacks is lacking Hidden Power Ground, whereas Gothita can help against Ferroseed and Foongus. Entry hazards setters can be very helpful because Snivy takes advantage from the appreciates having entry hazards set up, especially against its counters.

Other Options
==========
Snivy can be run with a Choice Scarf set, but it loses out on coverage it's detrimental for its coverage, as Snivy can rarely sweep with the only help of Leaf Storm. Taunt helps against status moves, but it is outclassed by Substitute. You can use a set with Reflect and Light Screen in order to ease a teammate's sweep. Then, Hidden Power Fire can be a nice option, as it allows Snivy to deal with Steel- and Fire-types at the same time ((How does Hidden Power Fire help Snivy deal with Fire-types?)), whilst Hidden Power Rock can help Snivy hit Larvesta super effectively without losing coverage on important targets such as Ponyta; in. In order to use these moves, however, though Snivy loses 1 point in Speed, due to IVs, which is crucial to outspeed 16 Speed Pokemon, and tie with Archen, Mienfoo, and Drilbur. Lastly, Aromatherapy can help heal teammates, it and can be an useful niche against bulky teams.

Checks & Counters
=============
**Grass resists**: LC is full of Grass-types resists, especially Larvesta and Foongus. Of course, Snivy can't deal with them at the same time with only one type of Hidden Power.

**Ponyta and Larvesta**: t They make Snivy switch out and take they resist pretty well every attack well except for a boosted Hidden Power Rock. What about Hidden Power Flying?

**Flying-types**: Pokemon such as Vullaby are good checks if Snivy is not running Hidden Power Ice, and Pokemon such as Fletchling, Doduo, and Taillow are strong revenge-killers.

**Grass-types** Pokemon such as Ferroseed, Foongus, Pumpkaboo, and Cottonee are able resist every attack except for a boosted Hidden Power Fire or Flying.

**Steel-types**: they They resist every one of Snivy's attacks if it isn't running Hidden Power Ground. Bronzor is probably the best counter thanks to its longevity with Recycle and the access to Levitate.

**Poison-types**: Pokemon such as Stunky and Croagunk are good counters if it Snivy isn't running Hidden Power Ground.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Gastly and Abra can easily revenge-kill it, even if they can't switch into a boosted attack.

I used to be top 50 or so in LC, back in BW OU ^.^ Fun stuff, back then. It was good to read this!

=============
**Grass-type resists**: LC is full of Grass-types resists, especially Larvesta and Foongus. Of course, Snivy can't deal with them at the same time with only one type of Hidden Power.

**Ponyta and Larvesta**: they Ponyta and Larvesta make Snivy switch out, [ac] and they take they resist pretty well every attack well except for a boosted Hidden Power Rock. What about Hidden Power Flying?

**Flying-types**: Pokemon [What sort of Pokemon? Flying-types in general? Bulkier Pokemon] such as Vullaby are good checks if Snivy is not running Hidden Power Ice, and Pokemon [Again, replace Pokemon with something more specific. Attackers? Flying-types?] such as Fletchling, Doduo, and Taillow are strong revenge- [remove hyphen] killers.

**Grass-types** Pokemon Grass-types such as Ferroseed, Foongus, Pumpkaboo, and Cottonee are able resist every attack except for a boosted Hidden Power Fire or Flying.

**Steel-types**: they Steel-types resist every one of Snivy's attacks if it isn't running Hidden Power Ground. Bronzor is probably the best counter thanks to its longevity with Recycle and the access to Levitate.

**Poison-types**: Pokemon Poison-types such as Stunky and Croagunk are good counters if it Snivy isn't running Hidden Power Ground.

**Faster Pokemon**: Fast Pokemon such as Gastly and Abra can easily revenge-[remove hyphen] kill it Snivy, even if they can't switch into a boosted attack.

[OVERVIEW]

Snivy is the only Pokemon in the tier that has access to Contrary, which grants it a Special Attack boost when using Leaf Storm. This characteristic makes Snivy the best offensive Grass-type, although its special movepool is otherwise very limited. Furthermore, Snivy's decent 17 Speed and Contrary allow it to be one of the best Sticky Web counters in the tier. However, it has access to a very limited Special movepool. It has a decent bulk if running used with Eviolite, which somewhat makes up for its bad defensive typing. Snivy also has access to Glare, which helps it wallbreak and paralyze faster threats that resist Leaf Storm.

[SET COMMENTS]

Moves
==========
Leaf Storm is a powerful STAB move that gives Snivy a +2 Special Attack boost thanks to its ability Contrary. Glare is a good option to inflict paralysis when you think a counter is about to be switched in. Knock Off removes the foe's item and might help Snivy wallbreak by removing Berry Juice from Sturdy users; this can contribute to a late-game sweep. Synthesis provides reliable recovery. Hidden Power Ground hits Fire-types, which Snivy can't deal with otherwise, while Hidden Power Ice allows it to hit Grass- and Flying-types and it is the best Hidden Power that Snivy can use when paired with Diglett. The Diglett comment is kind of hard to understand, especially for those who are looking to learn the tier. (I think this was a comment lol) Hidden Power Flying helps deal with Grass-types as well and hits some Pokemon that resist Grass, such as Croagunk and Larvesta. Hidden Power Fire helps deal with other Grass- and Steel-types.

Set Details
==========
Its ability, Contrary, (RC) allows Snivy to reverse stat changes. In particular, when Snivy uses Leaf Storm, instead of halving its Special Attack halved, it gets a +2 boost. 240 Special Attack EVs optimize Snivy's Special Attack stat, (AC) and 252 Speed EVs along with a Timid nature are used to reach 17 Speed. Eviolite gives Snivy decent bulk. If using Hidden Power Fire, use the following EV spread: 76 HP / 236 SpA / 176 Spe.

Usage Tips
=========
Snivy can deal big amounts of damage thanks to Leaf Storm and the boost it gets from Contrary. Knock Off and the chosen Hidden Power is are the best ways to weaken a counter or a strong check to Grass-type moves on the switch in. Glare can provide speed control. Because of Eviolite, Snivy can pivot into Ground- or Water-types, such as Drilbur and Staryu, easily. Snivy also works as a switch-in to Defog, as Defog increases Snivy's evasion because of Contrary.

Team Options
============
Diglett is one of the best teammates for Snivy because if you predict the switch correctly, you can trap and revenge kill almost all of non-Hidden Power Ground Snivy's counters. Gothita can help against Ferroseed and Foongus, but it needs a switch-in to Fire- and Grass-type moves, (Gothita needs a switch-in to Fire- and Grass-type moves? is that right?) such as Ponyta and or Houndour. Entry hazard setters are useful to Snivy because entry hazards can heavily weaken the opponent's team. Archen and Chinchou are also good options for partners because they can check Flying-types such as Fletchling and Archen; on this note, Ponyta could be useful due to its ability to potentially burn foes a potential burn.

Moves
========
Leaf Storm gives Snivy a +2 Special Attack boost thanks to Contrary when used. Glare paralyzes the target and is useful to catch faster Pokemon or solid checks such as Ponyta and Larvesta on the switch in. Knock Off can be used to remove items and can weaken bulky Pokemon such as Vullaby and Pumpkaboo by removing their Eviolite. Berry Juice provides Snivy with useful recovery. (not a move) Substitute blocks status moves such as Thunder Wave, which would prevent Snivy from sweeping late-game. It can also ease predictions, as you can use it to avoid some annoying 50/50 situations such as Sucker Punch scenarios or double switches. Hidden Power Ground hits Fire-types, which Snivy cannot deal with otherwise, while Hidden Power Ice allows it to hit Grass- and Flying-types. Hidden Power Flying helps deal with Grass-types and hits some Grass-resistant foes Grass-type resists such as Croagunk and Larvesta super effectively. Hidden Power Fire can be used to get rid of Steel- and Grass-types, but it forces you to use run 16 Speed on Snivy.

Leaf Storm deals a lot of damage and provides a Contrary boost, and Substitute can be used against Pokemon with Thunder Wave or other status moves and also can be used to recover Snivy's HP thanks to Berry Juice. You can also use it to ease predictions and use Knock Off or Glare afterwards. Snivy is able to pivot if switched into bulky Water-types, such as Chinchou, Slowpoke, and Tirtouga. Without Eviolite, however, it can't switch into many things, so it's better to use it as a revenge killer.

Team Options
==========
You should add Snivy appreciates switch-ins to Fire-types, such as Ponyta and Staryu, and to Flying-types, such as Tirtouga, Chinchou, and Archen. Gothita or Diglett are is able to trap and KO Snivy's most common counters depending on Snivy's coverage, as Diglett can trap and revenge KO almost all of Snivy's counters if Snivy lacks Hidden Power Ground, whereas Gothita can help against Ferroseed and Foongus. Entry hazards setters can be very helpful because Snivy appreciates the residual damage on the opposing team having entry hazards set up.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
============
Snivy can be run with a Choice Scarf, but it loses out on coverage, and as Snivy can rarely sweep with only Leaf Storm. Taunt helps against status moves, but it is outclassed by Substitute. You can use a set with Reflect and Light Screen in order to ease a teammate's sweep. Hidden Power Fire can be a nice option, as it allows Snivy to deal with Steel- and Grass-types at the same time, while whilst Hidden Power Rock can help Snivy hit Larvesta super effectively without losing coverage on important targets such as Ponyta. In order to use these moves, however, Snivy loses 1 point in Speed due to IVs; unfortunately, the extra point in Speed, (RC) which is crucial to outspeed 16 Speed Pokemon and tie with Archen, Mienfoo, and Drilbur. Lastly, Aromatherapy can help heal teammates and can be useful against bulky teams.
