[OVERVIEW]

Access to Spikes and Toxic Spikes gives Roselia a niche as a bulky entry hazard setter on stall or heavily defensive balance teams. Thanks to its typing, Roselia is immune to poison and absorbs Toxic Spikes, and it can switch into most Water- and Grass-types and hit them super effectively. Roselia is a particularly good counter to Tangrowth, though Amoonguss surpasses it in this role. The combination of Natural Cure and a resistance to Water-type attacks makes Roselia one of the top switch-ins to Scald, only second to the likes of Jellicent, Cradily, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon, which are immune to Water-type attacks.

Unfortunately, even with Eviolite, Roselia's terrible base 45 Defense makes it susceptible to physical attackers. Common Fire- and Psychic-types such as Emboar, Delphox, and Medicham can OHKO Roselia, and Calm Mind users such as Sigilyph and Meloetta are especially dangerous because they can switch into Roselia and set up on it. Roselia depends on Eviolite for its bulk, so Knock Off and Trick users such as Gurdurr, Rotom-C, and Escavalier severely threaten it. Because Defoggers like Flygon and Togetic are very common, keeping entry hazards on the field can be difficult. Toxic Spikes is particularly difficult for Roselia to keep on the field because it has trouble getting past grounded Poison-types such as Drapion and Amoonguss, though it can 3HKO Qwilfish with Giga Drain. Roselia faces strong competition as a Spiker from Qwilfish, which is the better option on most teams because it can take Knock Off better and use its fast Taunt to prevent foes from setting up. Other than Spikes-stacking, Roselia is outclassed as a bulky Grass / Poison type by Amoonguss, which is less crippled by Knock Off, has superior bulk, and has access to Spore and Regenerator.

Moves
========

Spikes is what sets Roselia apart from Amoonguss. Synthesis prevents Roselia from being worn down, allowing it to absorb status more easily and set up Spikes multiple times if needed. Giga Drain hits many common Stealth Rock setters super effectively, such as Seismitoad and Rhyperior, as well as Water- and Ground-types in general. Sludge Bomb lets Roselia damage common Grass- and Fairy-types, such as Tangrowth, Rotom-C, Aromatisse, and Virizion. Hidden Power Fire is an option to hit Durant and Escavalier on the switch. While Durant is OHKOed by Hidden Power Fire, Escavalier is either 2HKOed or 3HKOed, depending on its set.

If your team already has an answer to bulky Water-types or opposing Grass-types, you can opt to swap Giga Drain or Sludge Bomb for one of Roselia's other support moves. Toxic Spikes is particularly good against offensive teams and provides more passive damage throughout the match than Spikes does. Sleep Powder helps Roselia set up more entry hazards, cripple foes, and ensure that it can KO Jellicent, which would otherwise be able to recover the damage taken from Giga Drain. Aromatherapy is another solid option if you're having difficulty fitting cleric support on your team.

Set Details
========

248 HP EVs improve Roselia's overall bulk, while the Defense investment guarantees that Adamant Samurott's Megahorn will at best 3HKO Roselia even after Stealth Rock damage. The remaining 88 EVs go into Special Defense to improve Roselia's already solid bulk, making it a good switch-in to all common Grass- and Water-types except Clawitzer. Eviolite is the only item Roselia should ever hold because it drastically improves Roselia's bulk. A Calm nature further enhances Roselia's special bulk, giving it more opportunities to switch in.

Usage Tips
========

Roselia can switch into many common defensive Pokemon, such as Amoonguss, Aromatisse, and Alomomola, lay down Spikes or Toxic Spikes, and apply pressure with Giga Drain and Sludge Bomb. Roselia also does well against common Stealth Rock setters, such as Seismitoad and Rhyperior, which are both 4x weak to Giga Drain, although Roselia can only 2HKO Rhyperior's tank set. If the opponent does not have a grounded Poison-type, it is generally best to start with a layer of Toxic Spikes. Against offensive teams, a single layer of Toxic Spikes is plenty, while two layers are often preferred against defensive teams to wear down walls with access to recovery, such as Alomomola and Jellicent.

Team Options
========

Strong Dark-types make for good partners for Roselia, as they can take on Psychic-types. Spiritomb provides Pursuit support, hits through Substitute thanks to Infiltrator, spinblocks, and can Taunt setup sweepers. Drapion hits hard with Knock Off, lays down Toxic Spikes, and can use Whirlwind to phaze setup sweepers and rack up entry hazard damage. Houndoom is an option on more balanced teams, as it helps against opposing Fire-types, provides Pursuit support, and can KO Escavalier.

Strong Ground-types help against Poison-, Fire-, and to a lesser extent Steel-types, which either threaten Roselia or resist its attacks. Rhyperior and Mega Steelix offer powerful Earthquakes and can phaze foes and set up Stealth Rock. Piloswine is a good partner for Roselia because it can set up Stealth Rock, check most Fire-types in RU, take on opposing Ice-types, and deter Flygon from switching in to remove entry hazards.

Bulky Water-types such as Alomomola and Jellicent can help check Ice- and Fire-types, though Jellicent has terrible matchups against Houndoom and Sneasel and Alomomola offers next to no offensive presence. Alomomola pairs particularly well with Roselia if it is running Aromatherapy, as Toxic is a common way of wearing down Alomomola. Seismitoad pairs well too thanks to Stealth Rock, but they must both be careful of Mega Glalie's Freeze-Dry.

Knock Off is very common in RU, so having a switch-in to the move, such as Aromatisse, Hitmontop, or Granbull, helps. Mega Steelix is an option as well, though it has trouble against the Fighting-type Knock Off users such as Scrafty and Hitmonlee.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Roselia's EV spread can be changed to 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD or 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD; full Defense investment allows Roselia to take less damage from Rhyperior and Mega Steelix, while more investment in Special Defense helps it against Rotom-C and Choice Specs Tangrowth, but neither of these spreads helps much against common wallbreakers such as Exploud and Emboar. Synthesis can be dropped in favor of Toxic Spikes, but you should keep in mind that this severely cuts down on Roselia's longevity, so Wish support is highly recommended for this build. Rest can be used as an alternative to Synthesis because Natural Cure removes sleep upon switching out, but switching Roselia out is predictable and gives the opponent a free turn. Leech Seed drains the health of predicted switches, but the active recovery of Synthesis is generally preferred. Stun Spore is another option to cripple predicted switch-ins. Leaf Storm can be used in conjunction with a more offensive EV spread to net surprise KOs on bulky Water-types.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-type Pokemon such as Delphox, Mega Camerupt, and Emboar can switch into any of Roselia's moves bar Sleep Powder and OHKO it. Unboosted Houndoom and Fletchinder also have a chance to OHKO Roselia from full health and can use it as setup bait.

**Psychic-types**: Nearly all Psychic-types, such as Meloetta, Sigilyph, and Medicham, can either OHKO or 2HKO Roselia or set up Calm Mind on it. Tank Bronzong and support Uxie are exceptions because they deal little damage and are primarily used to set up Stealth Rock.

**Knock Off and Trick**: Losing Eviolite drastically cuts Roselia's bulk. Knock Off users are extremely common in RU and include Scrafty, Eelektross, and Drapion. Rotom-C is the only common user of Trick in RU.

**Physical Attackers**: Despite Eviolite and Defense investment, Roselia is easily OHKOed by powerful physical attackers, particularly those with a type advantage such as Escavalier, Durant, Sneasel, and Mega Glalie. Tyrantrum and Reckless Hitmonlee can OHKO or 2HKO Roselia even without a super effective hit.

**Entry Hazard Removal**: The two most common Defoggers in RU, Flygon and Togetic, take no damage from both Spikes and Toxic Spikes and can remove them easily. While Togetic hates taking repeated Sludge Bombs and deals little damage to Roselia, mixed defensive Flygon takes little damage from Roselia's attacks and can U-turn out or pick off a weakened Roselia. Grounded Poison-types also absorb Roselia's Toxic Spikes merely by switching in, and barring Qwilfish, they take little damage from Sludge Bomb and Giga Drain.

Okay, thanks. I used the one that was linked in Spirit's post.
I ran into an issue trying to figure out what the optimal EV set was. The original analysis calls for HP 252 / 120 Def / 136 SpD, but the meta has changed a bit. Clawitzer runs Ice Beam standard so Dark Pulse missing a 2HKO isn't as big of a deal when it has ice coverage and +2 Virizion's Stone Edge is only a OHKO if rocks are up and it's running Life Orb, which is less common than it was. Meanwhile, it's a solid answer to Specs Tangrowth, Rotom-C, and comes in easily on bulky water and grass types. So maybe full SpD investment is the better option? I'll go with whichever set people think is the optimal one.

EDIT: I figured out a spread that I think should be good, but it can always be changed if need be.

eh, I don't 100% agree that synth is mandatory, and have found that certain builds can justify 2 atks + dual spikes, though they are certainly rare. id also kind of want to see a slash or very strong consideration of hp fire > sludge as a means of keeping steels, mostly ant but esca to some extent, honest, given that running rose means that your complementary bulky water is probably something like jelli / momo (or, more importantly, not qwil), making it more likely that itll be really dangerous to feed free turns to them. beyond that, seconding everything spirit brings up

I made the suggested updates.

I went with the set Spirit posted, added HP Fire as a slash, added Toxic Spikes, Aromatherapy, and Sleep Powder mentions in the moves section as alternatives to Roselia's attacks. I also added 2 atks + dual spikes in the Other Options section.

mention that its niche is mostly on stall teams, or heavily defensive ones, otherwise other mons (qwilfish for instance) might be better.

okie dokes

while i like how there is some reasonable specifics overall, you weirdly seem to skimp on details in the overview. that said, i'd want a little more "meat" here, if that's all the same. for instance, when mentioning its water resist, you can mention that (in conjunction w/natural cure) it is one of the better scald absorbers in the tier, mention that it is the second best tangrowth switch-in in the tier (after amoonguss, which is far less bothered by knock off / spikes), etc. mentioning pertinent fire- or psychic-types (delphox, houndoom, mesprit, etc.) also helps here. mentioning that hazard removal isn't particularly helpful, but it would make sense to mention that hazard removal has become easier with the introduction of stuff like flygon, and the fact that rose yields free turns to basically every poison sans qwilfish makes keeping tspikes down rather hard for it. elabbing a bit on why qwilfish is more useful on most playstyles (fast taunt prevents it from being set-up bait, less item-reliant, etc.) would also help here.

just as a nit-pick, i wouldn't refer to rhyperior or seismitoad as 'leads', since they aren't played in a fashion that necessitates them leading (in contrast to something like, say, kricketune or sash archeops, which is built to start the game off).

"...making it one of the few good defensive switch-ins for Will-o-Wisp"

and scald

i would also mention m-'lix is rather good for absorbing knock off from most sources (scrafty being the most notable counterexample).

otherwise, this looks fairly solid. few minor things here and there, but nothing gp can't handle haha

[OVERVIEW]

Access to Spikes and Toxic Spikes gives Roselia a cool niche as a bulky hazard setter on defensive defense oriented teams. Thanks to its Poison typing, Roselia is immune to Toxic and absorbs Toxic Spikes. Between Due to Roselia's Grass and Poison typing, it can switch into most Water- and Grass-types in the tier and hit them super effectively. Roselia is particularly good as a counter to Tangrowth. It quadruple has a 4x resists to Leaf Storm and easily recovers the damage from Tangrowth's other moves, though Amoonguss outclasses Roselia here as Roselia is cripple by Knock Off Roselia is surpassed in this role by Amoonguss who is less crippled by Knock Off. Natural Cure gives Roselia a role as one of the few status absorbers in RU. The combination of Natural Cure and Water-type resistance makes Roselia one of the top switch-ins to Scald, only second second to Pokemon immune to Water-type attacks such as Jellicent, Cradily, and Seismitoad. I like the paragraph, though I'm not sure I like how much you focus on different mons. It makes sense, of course, to mention if a mon is outclassed, and what by, but I felt you might have focused too much on that. It could be trimmed down a bit, I feel.

Unfortunately, even after Eviolite, Roselia does not take physical attacks well due to its base 45 defense Roselia's base 45 Defense makes it weak to physical attackers even with Eviolite. Common Fire- and Psychic-types such as Emboar, Delphox, and Medicham can OHKO Roselia. Calm Mind users such as Sigilyph and Meloetta are especially dangerous since they can switch in and set up. Roselia depends on Eviolite for bulk, so Knock Off and Trick will cripple it need to be avoided. Because Defoggers like Flygon and Togetic are very common, keeping hazards on the field down can be difficult. Toxic Spikes are particularly difficult for Roselia to keep on the field as they are absorbed by down since its attacks are resisted by common grounded Poison-types such as Drapion and Amoonguss, though Qwilfish is 3HKOed. I get that you're saying that Roselia can beat certain Toxic Spike absorbers under the correct circumstances, but I find it hard to believe it can win against Poison Jab or Explosion Qwifish, and the fact is that the Toxic Spikes will be absorbed anyways. Roselia faces strong competition in its role from Qwilfish, who is the better option on most teams playstyles because it can take Knock Off better and can prevent the opponent from setting up thanks to its fast Taunt. Roselia works best on stall teams, though it can also work effectively on heavily defensive balance teams. I'm not sure you need this last sentence, as you did point out the Roselia/Qwilfish choice already, and the last sentence just feels a little pasted on.

Spikes is what sets Roselia apart from Amoonguss, who otherwise overshadows it. Synthesis prevents Roselia from being worn down, allowing it to set up multiple times if needed. This is especially helpful if it is used when used as a status absorber. Giga Drain hits many of the common Stealth Rock setters users in the tier super effectively, such as Seismitoad, and Rhyperior(AC) as well as Water- and Ground-types in general, super effectively. Sludge Bomb lets Roselia hurt damage common Grass- and Fairy-types such as Tangrowth, Rotom-C, Aromatisse, and Virizion. Hidden Power Fire is an option to hit Durant or Escavalier on the switch. While Durant is OHKOed(DC) and Escavalier is either 2HKOed or 3HKOed, depending on the set.

If your team already has an answer to bulky Water-types or opposing Grass-types, you can opt to switch out either Giga Drain or Sludge Bomb in favor of one of Roselia's other fantastic support moves. Toxic Spikes is particularly good against offensive teams and is capable of inflicting more passive damage throughout the match. Sleep Powder helps Roselia set up more hazards, cripple the opponent, and ensures KOs against Jellicent who would otherwise be able to recover the damage taken from Giga Drain. Aromatherapy is another solid option if you're having difficulty fitting cleric support on your team.

248 HP improves Roselia's overall bulk and gives it a Stealth Rock number. 172 Defense guarantees Roselia avoids being 2HKOed by Adamant Samurott's Megahorn even after Stealth Rock damage. The remaining 88 EVs go points goes into Special Defense to improve Roselia's already solid bulk, which makes making it a good switch-in for to all common Grass- and Water-types except with the exception of Clawitzer. Eviolite is the only item Roselia should ever use as it maximizes Roselia's bulk have since it is key to Roselia's bulk. A Calm nature further enhances Roselia's special bulk to maximize which is important for switch in opportunities.

Usage Tips
========

Roselia can switch into many common defensive Pokemon such as Amoonguss, Aromatisse, or Alomomola, lay down Spikes or Toxic Spikes, and apply pressure with Giga Drain or Sludge Bomb. It also does well against common Stealth Rock users such as Seismitoad and Rhyperior, who are both 4x weak to Grass-type attacks, though Roselia can only 2HKO Rhyperior's tank set is only a 2HKO. If the opponent is not running a grounded Poison-type, it is generally best to start with a layer of set Toxic Spikes first. Against offensive teams, a single layer is effective, but plenty. Two two layers are often preferred against defensive teams to wear down walls with access to recovery like Alomomola and Jellicent. Thanks to Natural Cure, Roselia can usually also has a good opportunity to switch in on status moves, making it one of the few good defensive switch-ins to for Will-o-Wisp and Scald.

Team Options
========

Strong Dark-types make for good partners for Roselia to take on the Psychic-types in the tier for Roselia. Spiritomb provides Pursuit trapping, hits through Substitute thanks to Infiltrator, spinblocks, and can Taunt set-up sweepers. I kind of agree with this, except Spiritomb's usual set has 117 Spe and is the slowest Taunter EVER >.< Usually lets the opponent get up a single boost, which is pretty annoying on everyone except maybe Gurrdurr. Drapion hits hard with Knock Off, can phaze out set-up sweepers, and to rack up hazard damage, as well as lay down Toxic Spikes. Houndoom is an option on more balanced teams as it helps against opposing Fire-types, traps with Pursuit, and deals with KOes Escavalier.

Strong Ground-types help against Poison-, Fire-, and to a lesser extent Steel-types that either threaten or resist Roselia's coverage moves. Rhyperior and Mega Steelix offer powerful STAB Earthquakes, phazing e, and set up Stealth Rock. Piloswine is a fun good partner since(AC) besides Stealth Rock, it is one of the few checks for checks all of the Fire-types in RU, it takes on opposing Ice-types, and it deters Flygon from switching in to remove hazards. I'd be wary of saying "all", as Band Emboar 2HKOes with Superpower, and Houndoom does hefty amounts as well.

Bulky Water-types like Alomomola and Jellicent can help check Ice- and Fire-types, though Jellicent has a terrible match up with against both Houndoom and Sneasel while Alomomola offers next to no offensive presence other than Toxic and Scald damage. I don't really consider Toxic and Scald Burnfishing to be offensive presence. If you really want to, mention Scald and the rare Knock Off (which I think breaks Meloetta's sub, actually?) but that's about it. Alomomola pairs particularly well if Roselia is running Aromatherapy, since Toxic is a common way of wearing down Alomomola. Seismitoad pairs well too thanks to Stealth Rock, but be careful of Mega Glalie's Freeze Dry.

Knock Off is very common in RU, so having a solid switch-in like Aromatisse, Hitmontop, or Granbull helps. Mega Steelix is an solid option as well, though it has trouble against some of the Fighting-type Knock Off users like Scrafty and Hitmonlee.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Roselia's EV spread can be reconfigured for changed to 252 HP and 252 Defense or 252 HP and 252 Special Defense, with the other 4 EVs in the other defense. Full investment in Defense defense invsetment allows Roselia to take less damage from Rhyperior and Mega Steelix, while more investment in Special Defense helps it take less damage from Rotom-C and Specs Tangrowth. Neither of these sets help much against common wallbreakers like Exploud and Emboar. Synthesis can be dropped in favor of Toxic Spikes, but keep in mind this will severely cut down on Roselia's survivability. Wish support is highly recommended if Synthesis is dropped for this build. Rest can be used as an alternative to Synthesis since Natural Cure clears away removes sleep upon switching out. Leech Seed is an option for to catch a predicted switch, but the active recovery more reliable recovery of Synthesis is generally preferred. Stun Spore is another option for predicted switch-ins. Leaf Storm can be used to get some surprise KOs on some of the bulky Water-types in the tier. 500 cool points go to whomever KOes a weakened Alomomola with Leaf Storm Roselia. Listen, I know I'm deleting this, but if I manage to get you a replay where I KO a weakened Alomomola with Leaf Storm Roselia, can I still collect the cool points? This build benefits from a more offensive EV distribution. Honestly, I like the idea, but Roselia as an Alomomola lure doesn't really seem functional, as Alomomola is a Roselia switch in never, and mons like Amoonguss and Tangrowth hit harder and more effectively anyways

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Fire-type Pokemon such as Delphox, Mega Camerupt, and Emboar can switch in on any of Roselia's moves bar Sleep Powder and OHKO Roselia from full health. They take Sludge Bomb well? Unboosted Houndoom and Fletchinder also have a chance to OHKO Roselia from full health or they and can also set up with Nasty Plot or Swords Dance respectively.

**Psychic-types**: All Psychic-types other than Bronzong and support Uxie can either OHKO(DC) or 2HKO Roselia, or set up Calm Mind against it.

**Knock Off and Trick**: Without Eviolite, Roselia's bulk is drastically cut ability to take a hit is cut down drastically.

**Physical Attackers**: Despite Eviolite and Defense investment, Roselia is easily OHKOed by powerful physical attackers, particularly those with a type advantage like Escavalier, Durant, Sneasel, and Mega Glalie. Tyrantrum and Reckless Hitmonlee can OHKO or 2HKO Roselia with their powerful STABs and high Attack even without having a type advantage.

**Hazard Removal**: The whole point of running Spikes and Toxic Spikes is to wear down the opposing Pokemon hurt the opponent throughout the match. The two most common Defoggers are Flygon and Togetic, who take no damage from these hazards. While Togetic hates taking repeated Sludge Bombs and does next to no damage to Roselia, mixed defensive Flygon takes little damage and can U-turn out or pick off a weakened Roselia. [OVERVIEW]

Access to Spikes and Toxic Spikes gives Roselia a cool niche as a bulky entry hazard setter on defensive defense oriented teams. Thanks to its Poison typing, Roselia is immune to poison Toxic (is there a particular reason you say Toxic?) and absorbs Toxic Spikes, (period to comma) and Between Roselia's Grass and Poison typing, it can switch into most Water- and Grass-types in the tier (superfluous) and hit them super effectively. Roselia is a particularly good as a counter to Tangrowth, though Amoonguss is less cripped by Knock Off and thus surpasses it in this role. It quadruple resists Leaf Storm and easily recovers the damage from Tangrowth's other moves, though Roselia is surpassed in this role by Amoonguss who is less crippled by Knock Off. (to be honest, this level of focus isn't necessary in the overview, especially as countering Tangrowth isn't Roselia's whole niche and Amoonguss does it better. note that "which" or "that" should be used rather than "who" to refer to Pokemon.) Natural Cure gives Roselia a role as one of the few status absorbers in RU. The combination of Natural Cure and a resistance to Water-type resistance makes Roselia one of the top switch-ins to Scald, only second to Pokemon the likes of Jellicent, Cradily, and Seismitoad, which are immune to Water-type attacks such as Jellicent, Cradily, and Seismitoad.

Unfortunately, Roselia's base 45 Defense makes it susceptible weak (a good rule of thumb is to not use "weak" for anything other than types (i.e. "Roselia is weak to Ice-type moves") because it can be confusing) to physical attackers even with Eviolite. Common Fire- and Psychic-types such as Emboar, Delphox, and Medicham can OHKO Roselia, (comma to period) and Calm Mind users such as Sigilyph and Meloetta are especially dangerous since because they can switch in and set up. Roselia depends on Eviolite for its bulk, so Knock Off and Trick users such as (insert examples here) severely threaten it. need to be avoided. (a statement like this belongs in usage tips; the overview is for stating Roselia's weak points, while the analysis should provide solutions for them) Because Flygon and Togetic are very common, keeping hazards down can be difficult. Toxic Spikes are is particularly difficult for Roselia to keep down (try to rephrase this to avoid repetition) since because its attacks are resisted by common grounded Poison-types, (comma) such as Drapion and Amoonguss, though it can 3HKO Qwilfish is 3HKOed with (what?). Piloswine is a good partner for Roselia, because it can set up Stealth Rock, checks every Fire-type in RU, can take fun partner since besides Stealth Rock, it is one of the few checks for all of the Fire-types in RU, it takes on opposing Ice-types, and it deters Flygon from switching in to remove hazards.

Bulky Water-types like Alomomola and Jellicent can help check Ice- and Fire-types, though Jellicent has a terrible matchups against Sneasel and Houndoom, and match up with both Houndoom and Sneasel while Alomomola offers next to no offensive presence other than Toxic and Scald damage. Alomomola pairs particularly well with Roselia if Roselia it is running Aromatherapy, since as Toxic is a common way of wearing down Alomomola. Seismitoad pairs well with Roselia too thanks to Stealth Rock, but they must both be careful of Mega Glalie's Freeze-Dry (dash).

Knock Off is very common in RU, so having a solid (repetition) switch-in to the move, such as like Aromatisse, Hitmontop, or Granbull, (comma) helps maintain Roselia's bulk. Mega Steelix is a solid option as well, though it has trouble against some of the Fighting-type Knock Off users like such as Scrafty and Hitmonlee.

Roselia's EV spread can be reconfigured to 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD or 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD. (correct these spreads if I'm wrong) for 252 HP and 252 Defense or 252 HP and 252 Special Defense. Full investment in Defense allows Roselia to take less damage from Rhyperior and Mega Steelix, while more investment in Special Defense helps it against take less damage from Rotom-C and Choice Specs Tangrowth, (period to comma) but neither of these sets helps Neither of these sets help much against common wallbreakers such as like Exploud and Emboar. Synthesis can be dropped in favor of Toxic Spikes, but keep in mind that this will severely cuts down on Roselia's longevity, so Wish support is highly recommended for this build survivability. ("X's survivability" refers to the ability of other things to survive X, while "X's longevity" refers to the ability of X to survive other things) Wish support is highly recommended for this build. Rest can be used as an alternative to Synthesis since because Natural Cure clears away eliminates sleep upon switching out, but Synthesis is more reliable. (or something else that explains why Rest is not used over Synthesis on the set) Leech Seed is an option drains the health of predicted switch-ins for a predicted switch, but the active recovery of Synthesis is generally preferred. Stun Spore is another option to cripple for predicted switch-ins. Leaf Storm in conjunction with a more offensive EV spread can be used to get some net surprise KOs on weakened some of the bulky Water-types. (period) in the tier. 500 cool points go to whomever KOes a weakened Alomomola with Leaf Storm Roselia. (500 nerd points to you for the proper usage of "whomever," but this sentence is too colloquial for an analysis.) This build benefits from a more offensive EV distribution.

Checks and Counters

**Fire-types**: Fire-type Pokemon such as Delphox, Mega Camerupt, and Emboar can switch into on any of Roselia's moves bar Sleep Powder and OHKO it Roselia from full health. (redundant with "OHKO".) Unboosted Houndoom and Fletchinder also have a chance to OHKO Roselia from full health and can use it as setup bait. or they can set up with Nasty Plot or Swords Dance respectively.

**Psychic-types**: All Psychic-types other than Bronzong and support Uxie, including (x, y, and z major Psychic-types), can OHKO or 2HKO Roselia or set up with either OHKO, 2HKO, or set up Calm Mind. (even if they can't do major damage to it, elaborate more here if Bronzong and support Uxie threaten Roselia in other ways.)

**Knock Off and Trick**: Without Eviolite, Roselia's ability to take hits a hit is cut down drastically. Common Knock Off users include a, b, and c, while Trick users to be careful of are x, y, and z. (obviously you can rephrase this, but the point is to include a few examples)

**Physical Attackers**: Despite Eviolite and Defense investment, Roselia is easily OHKOed by powerful physical attackers, particularly those with a type advantage such as like Escavalier, Durant, Sneasel, and Mega Glalie. Tyrantrum and Reckless Hitmonlee can OHKO or 2HKO Roselia even without having a type advantage.

**Entry Hazard Removal**: The whole point of running Spikes and Toxic Spikes is to hurt the opponent throughout the match. The two most common Defoggers in RU are Flygon and Togetic, which who take no damage from both Spikes and Toxic Spikes and can remove them easily. these hazards. While Togetic hates repeated Sludge Bombs and does deals little next to no damage to Roselia, mixed defensive Flygon takes little damage from its attacks and can U-turn out or pick off a weakened Roselia. Grounded Poison-types also absorb Roselia's Toxic Spikes merely by switching in, and barring Qwilfish, they and, barring Qwilfish, take little damage from Sludge Bomb and Giga Drain.

Unfortunately, (AC) even with Eviolite, Roselia's terrible (or w/e) base 45 Defense makes it susceptible to physical attackers. Common Fire- and Psychic-types such as Emboar, Delphox, and Medicham can OHKO Roselia, (AC) and Calm Mind users such as Sigilyph and Meloetta are especially dangerous because they can switch into Roselia and set up on it. Roselia depends on Eviolite for its bulk, so Knock Off and Trick users such as Gurdurr, Rotom-C, and Escavalier severely threaten it. Because Defoggers like Flygon and Togetic are very common, keeping entry hazards on the field can be difficult. Toxic Spikes is particularly difficult for Roselia to keep on the field because they are absorbed by it has trouble getting past (liked your previous approach better, dunno why you changed it) grounded Poison-types (RC; or keep the comma and put "common" back in) such as Drapion and Amoonguss, though it can 3HKO Qwilfish with Giga Drain. Roselia faces strong competition as a Spiker from Qwilfish, which is the better option on most teams because it can take Knock Off better and use its fast Taunt to prevent foes from setting up. Other than Spikes-stacking, Roselia is outclassed as a bulky Grass / Poison type from by Amoonguss, which is less crippled by Knock Off, has superior bulk, and has access to Spore and Regenerator.

Moves
========

If your team already has an answer to bulky Water-types or opposing Grass-types, you can opt to swap Giga Drain or Sludge Bomb, respectively, for one of Roselia's other support moves.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

Strong Dark-types make for good partners for Roselia, as they can take on Psychic-types. Spiritomb provides Pursuit support, hits through Substitute thanks to Infiltrator, spinblocks, and can Taunt setup sweepers. Drapion hits hard with Knock Off, lays down Toxic Spikes, and can use Whirlwind to phaze out setup sweepers and rack up entry hazard damage.

Rhyperior and Mega Steelix offer powerful Earthquakes (RC) and can phaze foes and set up Stealth Rock. Piloswine is a good partner for Roselia because it can set up Stealth Rock, check most Fire-types in RU, and can take on opposing Ice-types, and deter Flygon from switching in to remove entry hazards.

Bulky Water-types like such as Alomomola and Jellicent can help check Ice- and Fire-types, though Jellicent has terrible matchups against Houndoom and Sneasel (RC) and Alomomola offers next to no offensive presence.

Roselia's EV spread can be changed to 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD or 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD; (SC) full Defense investment allows Roselia to take less damage from Rhyperior and Mega Steelix, while more investment in Special Defense helps it against Rotom-C and Choice Specs Tangrowth, but neither of these sets help spreads helps much against common wallbreakers such as Exploud and Emboar.

**Psychic-types**: Nearly all Psychic-types, such as Meloetta, Sigilyph, and Medicham, can either OHKO or 2HKO Roselia (RC) or set up Calm Mind on it. Tank Bronzong and support Uxie are exceptions because they deal little damage and are primarily used to set up Stealth Rock.

**Knock Off and Trick**: Without Losing Eviolite (RC) drastically cuts Roselia's bulk is drastically cut.

Tyrantrum and Reckless Hitmonlee can OHKO or 2HKO Roselia even without a type advantage super effective hit.
