Lapras @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 208 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 44 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Freeze-Dry
- Toxic

Lapras is a pretty solid counter to Offensive Defog Swanna. Thanks to Water Absorb, it is immune to Scald, and can take a Hurricane somewhat well and Freeze-Dry easily nets the KO.

252 SpA Life Orb Swanna Hurricane vs. 208 HP / 0 SpD Lapras: 187-220 (41.2 - 48.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Lapras Freeze-Dry vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Swanna: 544-648 (186.9 - 222.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Standard Politoed is easily capable of coming in on Scalds from Swanna and ohko it with HP Electric however you must be cautious switching in as w/rocks up its a guaranteed 2HKO with hurricane.

Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch

Zebstrika outspeeds and kills Swanna twice over with Volt Switch or three times over with Thunderbolt. Zebstrika doesn't like coming in on attacks from Swanna though as Scald is a clean 2hko, but Zebstrika can take a Hurricane decently if need be.

252 SpA Life Orb Zebstrika Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Swanna: 624-738 (214.4 - 253.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Reserving Stunfisk as a check!

HARD CHECK!!!!

Stunfisk @ Leftovers
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 SpA
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Discharge
- Toxic

Kinda standard Stunfisk that doesn't even need investing on Defense to get easily onto Klang and beat it... (Physically Defensive Stunfisk can even be considered a Counter, since +6 0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Stunfisk: 144-170 (34.2 - 40.3%) -- approx. 42.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery which is basically hideous)

Defensive Calcs
0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Stunfisk: 50-60 (11.8 - 14.2%) -- possibly the worst move ever
+1 0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Stunfisk: 76-90 (18 - 21.3%) -- possible 6HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
+2 0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Stunfisk: 102-120 (24.2 - 28.5%) -- approx. 0% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
+3 0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Stunfisk: 126-150 (29.9 - 35.6%) -- approx. 0% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
+4 0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Stunfisk: 152-180 (36.1 - 42.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
+5 0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Stunfisk: 178-210 (42.2 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
+6 0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Stunfisk: 204-240 (48.4 - 57%) -- approx. 96.9% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Offensive Calcs
0 SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 100 SpD Eviolite Klang: 114-134 (35.1 - 41.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. -1 252 HP / 100 SpD Eviolite Klang: 168-198 (51.8 - 61.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Heck... Klang needs to be REALLY lucky to set up onto +6 without getting a Special Defense drop, getting some Para turns thanks to Static if it decides to attack and with Sleep Talk getting the right moves on the right time (that even discounting Gear Grind imperfect accuracy)...

However if Stunfisk doesn't get the Special Defense Drop in a few turns, it is probable that Klang can still setup onto +6 and eventually 2HKO Stunfisk (While OHKO everything else of course xD) and that's why it's just a check...

See ya guys!

Encore stops CroLang from being any sort of threat allowing poli to either.

A. Kill it off with Scald+Burn damage whilst locked into Gear Grind.

Or

B. Lock it into Rest/Sleep Talk/Shift Gear and go into a team member that can OHKO/2HKO it.

Machoke @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 160 HP / 252 Atk / 24 Def / 28 SpD / 44 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dynamic Punch
- Knock Off
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Machoke switches into Gear Grind with ease and 2HKOes Klang with Dynamic Punch. Other Machoke variants such as Guts RestTalk, AoA, etc also work, this particular set just takes Klang the best.

252+ Atk Machoke Dynamic Punch vs. 252 HP / 156+ Def Eviolite Klang: 164-194 (50.6 - 59.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 160 HP / 24 Def Eviolite Machoke: 80-96 (23.4 - 28.1%) -- approx. 84.9% chance to 4HKO
+1 0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 160 HP / 24 Def Eviolite Machoke: 116-140 (34 - 41%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Ability: Frisk
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Synthesis
- Leech Seed
- Foul Play

Switches in and clicks Will-o-Wisp then leech seed. Klang has to be at +5 to 2hko while at +3 it's 3hko'd by Foul Play and Leech Seed damage, meaning it dies during its rest. A very easy check to fit in for defensive teams as Gourgeist-XL is already one of the go-to mons for them.

Stunfisk as Counter

PANCAKE @ Leftovers
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Discharge
- Earth Power
- Toxic

0 SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Monferno: 186-218 (69.1 - 81%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Iron Fist Monferno Mach Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Stunfisk: 51-60 (12 - 14.2%) -- possibly the worst move ever
252+ Atk Monferno Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Stunfisk: 124-147 (29.3 - 34.8%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Stunfisk Earth Power vs. -1 0 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Monferno: 276-326 (102.6 - 121.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Stunfisk has great special bulk to tank Monferno's hits, and can 2HKO it with Earth Power in return. Also Static discourages Monferno from using its moves due to the paralysis chance. Close Combat and Flare Blitz are also quite risky to use as the former lowers Monferno's Special Defense and allows Stunfisk to KO Monferno, and the latter wears Monferno down more easily.

Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Thunder Wave / Stored Power

Defensive Clefairy switches into all moves Monferno carries and can cripple it with Thunder Wave and proceed to set up Calm Mind's. Even Life Orb variants, which are the hardest to wall, fail to 2HKO Clefairy most of the time so it's a pretty reliable counter as long as you keep it healthy.

252+ Atk Monferno Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Clefairy: 112-133 (32.5 - 38.6%) -- 99.1% chance to 3HKO

Floatzel can't switch into Monferno given its low Defense, but Floatzel can at least take a Mach Punch (or outspeed the Mach Punch with its own CB boosted Aqua Jet). Floatzel also OHKOes Monferno without entry hazards, if given a free switch into Monferno:

252+ Atk Iron Fist Monferno Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Floatzel: 99-117 (31.8 - 37.6%) -- 87.8% chance to 3HKO

As much as I love this monkey, Duosion promptly shits on most its sets barring Life Orb+Nasty Plot.

Duosion can take all of Monferno's moves with ease and even begin to set up on it and go for the sweep assuming they have no Dark mons. Stealth rock damage from switching is also a non-issue.

252 Atk Monferno Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Duosion: 102-120 (30.5 - 35.9%) -- 39.9% chance to 3HKO

Worst case scenario Monferno pivots out with U-turn and you can later heal up with Recover.

Toxic Lickilicky as a soft counter/hard check

Lickilicky @ Leftovers
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Body Slam
- Toxic

I slap this thing on about half my teams because Vigoroth is broken amazing, and Lickilicky walls more than half the meta no matter what 4th move it runs.

Lickilicky is immune to Taunt because of Oblivious, so it can proceed to just Toxic it and attempt to stall it out with Wish + Tect. Vigoroth can overwhelm a low health Lickilicky if it gets enough boosts, but if you pair it with a normal resist you'll be just fine. Bonus Points if you pair it with a Ghost Type like SubCM Drifblim and you get to troll both Vigoroth sets ;-)

Calcs:
0 Atk Vigoroth Return vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Lickilicky: 96-114 (22.6 - 26.8%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 0 Atk Vigoroth Return vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Lickilicky: 144-169 (33.9 - 39.8%) -- 28.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 0 Atk Vigoroth Return vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Lickilicky: 190-225 (44.8 - 53%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

taunt stops hazards but it makes vigoroth absolutely not that much of a pain to beat. it is the substitute set that is broken

Vigoroth can't touch Misdreavus at all, and with 56 Speed and a Timid nature, Misdreavus can outspeed Vigoroth and prevent it from doing anything, burn it with Will-O-Wisp, and slowly wear it down with Foul Play.

56 Timid Misdreavus isn't too great a check as most Taunt vig will creep more, though i guess you can try to pp stall by switching.

Anyway here is a Vigoroth check I run on bulkier teams:

Monferno @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Encore
- Fire Punch
- U-turn
Encore heavily screws vigoroth over, and cc does a lot of damage. This set can take a couple unboosted hits from Vigoroth, though it doesnt like body slam norswitching in. I use this over the defensive slack off sets as they have little use outside of beating Vigoroth, and this set can pressure stuff like roselia.
