Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Got 1200 and pretty much too lazy to ladder anymore cause I'm flooded rn. I found Chople Regirock to be incredibly useful at stopping Sawk, Chicken, Magmortar, and opposing Primeape from outright 6-0ing me by getting off clutch TWaves and baiting fighting type attacks pretty safely. Ditto was pretty useful in the lategame less-so for countersweeping but rather for revenge killing and forcing mons like Rotom out against itself. Cryo was OK to mainly patch my grass weakness but I never really spun with it at all. I also found BandApe to be fun but less than practical as I ended up clicking U-Turn more than I did CC, and it was pretty weak at that. Samurott and Lilligant were really what carried the team as my 2 A-Ranks though. Samu tended to sweep almost every match with its great matchup against the standard meta anyways and its clutch Megahorn coverage to ward off bulky Psychics like CM Mushy and Mala. Lilligant on the other hand was my only *partial* way of stopping Gurdurr and Garbodor as a cool bait with Sleep Powder + Dream Eater or just dropping a hard Petal Dance on them to open way for shit like Ape. Idk it was fun but not really a efficient team tb

A little description on the team, i've wanted to try out specstrode for a while now so i decided to go all out and just build electric spam since if i can get rid of trodes checks it can clean up. So first up was obviously trode, modest specs outspeeds everything relevant except swellow which can't do much to me if it's boomburst, hp grass for rhydon and signal beam for malamar + it's next best coverage is hyper beam anyway. Evire is there as it can break lanturn and rhydon which give electric spam trouble, motor drive is also nice for stopping vs and getting the speed. Next came fantom since i didn't want 3 ground weaks and because it can also wear down both lanturn and rhydon with wisp + ebelt hp grass, great mon in general i was shocked when i saw it wasn't in the A ranks. Added super-geist as it served as a ground resist dealing with rhydon, tort and lanturn to an extent while being able to deter sawk from clicking cc. Yama came next since magmortar just came in on geist and got a free kill otherwise, gives me an ice resist too and acts as a general special wall. Finally we got wigglytuff the god, i was originally gonna put pilo here but metaphysical showed me the light. Serves as a rocker, knock off deterrent, rhydon lure, klinklang lure and defog booster all in one!!!! In all serious though i've no idea if this will be any good, chances are i'll replace it with pilo lol
S/O to silver and meta for ghosting me through the teambuilding
I hate/love this team. Lapras+Basculin tear shit up while Kanga&Garb&Kec are good for switching into shit I don't want the former two to take. This team sucks tbh. If I get crit/haxed more than twice I'm pretty much fucked and can't come back unless its a shit player. General idea is stack hazards, abuse priority. Spinblock with Maggy. I probably could've made a better choice for my ghost type, but she has somewhat valuable utility and I thought I needed a scarfer, but maybe I don't with all the priority I have.
I really, really enjoy having both Lapras and Basculin. 3 Ice Attacks (with prio)+1 water w/ Icicle Plate and then 3 water attacks (with prio)+1 ice w/ Wave Incense actually does work. Even if shit resists it, it still muscles through. Sharing common checks isn't too bad. Jynx can give this team hell if I have the wrong mon slept.
All in all it feels very meh to play. I'd be interested in feed back on how I can improve it. Teams not super thought out or anything, just sticks to the idea of hazard+prio abuse.
It's your boy Will Smith, and I'm here to play some Dank Horse. My favorite horse is TABLE HORSE. Edit: 1580 ELO. Mirror Coat Horse.
Edit: Ladder was not kind to me today. Lost around 100 points, actually. So I'll end the Dark Horse Run. The highest I got (sadly no screeny), 1586. Will post sets again soon.
Edit: Maybe I'll try to ladder until idk.
Stronkest Horse.
117 Attack Horse. Does more damage than Scyther Horse or Bullshit Horse. (In perspective, Lugg has 117, Scythe has 110, Tauros has 100.) 50% Recovery horse. High defense horse. Ice horse. Sturdy Horse. Rapid Spin Horse. Table Horse.

Hey guys, first post on the forums in awhile. I am submitting our lord and savior as my dark horse, RATICATE!!!
My Fresh Proof of Belair is here because i dont know how to post images to the forums so i just uploaded it with lightshot: http://prntscr.com/8pnmh2
Alt was registered the day of my post.
LET THE RODENT OVERLORD REIGN AND BECOME THE SUPREME DARK RODENT HORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In all seriousness though while this thing is eclipsed almost entirely by the likes of Ursaring, Zangoose, and Swellow, this thing deserves a D rank. It has pretty good speed, a niche in the form of sucker punch, and great sweeping potential with guts facade, also possessing the ability to create momentum with access to u-turn.
total: 32.78071%
Edit: NV, can i change quilladin for sth else or it's prohibited? The team was made around sliggoo, but i put quil in bold cause its C rank.
Hey, just gunna go ahead and submit that i got C-rank, Been laddering hard and got past 1200 :3
Raticate=The Best Dark Horse
Proof of Rank (still dont know how to upload photos/screenshots to forums, so once again i uploaded via lightshot): http://prntscr.com/8pxm8w

With the month nearing its end, I would like these three who made it into A rank to PM me your teams with a mini description of the team and how it plays so I can upload them to the Archive (hooray for this being revived!)
Ok so with the October stats out, November Dark Horse can start. Post your teams, the total usage of the team as well as the individual usage of each, and fresh alts.
I am so glad this project is back up to speed after the disastrous result of the ladder reset a couple months ago. I am glad to see all these Dark Horses being used effectively (apparently Shaneghoul is the MVP of DH).
P.S. Water Drone and Swagcaliber I need you to PM still with your teams and a small description (think mini-RMT) as well as the import so I can add your teams to the archive as a badge of honor for making it to A rank.
I don't think I'm going to get any higher than this, and I'm moving house next week, so I'll just post my sets and thoughts on the team now. The aim for the team is to setup an Ursaring sweep, either with a Swords Dance or without. Not many Pokémon outspeed Quick Feet Ursaring in this tier, apart from things like Tauros, Archeops, and Scarf users, and Façade inflicts huge damage on most other offensive Pokémon.
CB Lickilicky acts as a wallbreaker that helps remove specific obstacles for Ursaring such as physical walls; while the surprise factor is part of the reason as to why it works so well, it still has the damage output and coverage to do work against teams that know what it does. With 252 Speed EVs and an Adamant nature it outspeeds defensive Mesprit, Lanturn, Weezing etc, all forms of Rhydon and Carracosta, and uninvested Malamar, which is important for getting off a move before they can react with a Burn or something else. Jolly allows Lickilicky to outspeed neutral natured Golurk, Torterra, and Aurorus, but it wants the power of Adamant more than anything else. Here are some calcs to show off Lickilicky's power.
252+ Atk Choice Band Lickilicky Explosion vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Mesprit: 354-417 (97.2 - 114.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Lickilicky Explosion vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Weezing: 319-376 (95.7 - 112.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Lickilicky Explosion vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Musharna: 402-474 (92.8 - 109.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Lickilicky Explosion vs. +1 252 HP / 0 Def Malamar: 373-439 (99.2 - 116.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Lickilicky Explosion vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Eviolite Piloswine: 402-474 (99.5 - 117.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Lickilicky Power Whip vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Rhydon: 368-436 (88.8 - 105.3%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Lickilicky Power Whip vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Solid Rock Carracosta: 288-339 (81.8 - 96.3%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Lickilicky Power Whip vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 520-612 (131.9 - 155.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Lickilicky Power Whip vs. 40 HP / 252 Def Lanturn: 354-418 (88.2 - 104.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Lickilicky Double-Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tauros: 253-298 (86.9 - 102.4%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
Meanwhile Knock Off punishes Ghosts for trying to switch into Explosion. Double-Edge is a safer option that lets Lickilicky turn most of Explosion's 1HKOs into 2HKOs without killing itself, and even uninvested Lickilicky has the bulk to take a powerful hit and revenge kill an offensive Pokémon early game with Double-Edge. Taking a hit from Tauros and OHKOing it is actually really important to this team as only Rotom outspeeds and it can't OHKO without a lot of prior damage (Tauros is surprisingly bulky).
The rest of the team helps Lickilicky and Ursaring pull off this little trick. Pyroar deals with the most popular Ghost, Mismagius, take Wisps aimed at the other Normal types and provides good pressure against Offense in general before Ursaring sets up. It also acts as a secondary check to Quagsire with HP Grass and can Wisp opponents to provide setup opportunities. Claydol addresses the team's major Fighting weakness and provides Spin support to keep Ursaring healthy enough for a prolonged sweep. Keeping hazards off the field also helps Lickilicky reliably kill something as it is very hard to OHKO without a super-effective move. Crustle provides reliable entry hazard support to ensure that Ursaring and Lickilicky can secure their kills and can also kill opponents in its own right with Shell Smash and Rock Blast if desired. Rotom further addresses the team's Fighting weakness, provides a good response to Archeops, Swellow, and other faster threats, and spin-blocks for the team to help ensure hazards stay up. Trick is also handy for dismantling defensive teams, but most of the time Lickilicky blows up the biggest threat.
I'm going to make using Grass types as Dark Horses a personal trend at this point. I wanted Cryogonal to be the Dark Horse since this meta is so unkind to it, but either way I can still put it on the squad.
