Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Weezing is a hard check / soft counter. Weezing is immune to Earthquake, resists Wood Hammer, and can tank some Shadow Claws. Black Sludge puts a timer on Trevenant should it try for Trick. Flamethrower 2HKOes after Stealth Rock damage. I put Toxic Spikes as a slash because Pain Split is more relevant against Trevenant, though Toxic Spikes are nice if Trevenant is locked into Earthquake or Wood Hammer and counteracts Natural Cure rather well. You could also go for a burn with Will-O-Wisp to cripple an expected switch-in or Trevenant, though Natural Cure makes this a rather situational strategy.
0 SpA Weezing Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Trevenant: 134-158 (43 - 50.8%) -- 94.9% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Shadow Claw vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Weezing: 106-126 (31.7 - 37.7%) -- 91.3% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery

Here are three Pokemon that can effectively check CB Trevenant in my opinion.
Scrafty @ Lum Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
Intimidate DD Scrafty can function as an offensive check to CB Trevenant imo. It has enough bulk to stomach any of Trevenant's attacks at least once with Intimidate's attack drop taken into account. From there, Scrafty can proceed to simply outspeed and OHKO Trevenant with Knock Off after Stealth Rock/Wood Hammer recoil. However, because Scrafty still takes a lot from CB Wood Hammer, it might not be able to switch in repeatedly, making it nothing more than a check in my eyes.
-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Scrafty: 169-201 (62.3 - 74.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Scrafty: 95-112 (35 - 41.3%) -- 99.9% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Shadow Claw vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Scrafty: 50-59 (18.4 - 21.7%) -- possible 6HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Scrafty Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Trevenant: 308-366 (99 - 117.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
Rotom-Fan is an effective hard check/soft counter to Trevenant. Because of its Electric/Flying typing and solid physical bulk, it possesses a resistance to Trevenant's Wood Hammer, an immunity to Earthquake, and has enough bulk to take multiple Shadow Claws. In return, Rotom-Fan can outspeed Trevenant (the Speed EVs in the set above ensure that Rotom-Fan will outspeed the Trevenant set listed), and either 2HKO Trevenant with Air Slash, Pain Split Trevenant to regain some HP lost from Stealth Rock+Trevenant's attack while still dealing some damage, or Will-O-Wisp to *temporarily* cripple Trevenant and make it easier for Rotom-S to handle (temporarily because of Natural Cure), depending on what the situation demands. Overall, Rotom-Fan stops Trevenant pretty nicely in my opinion, although Trick is a bit annoying.
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Shadow Claw vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-S: 115-136 (38.2 - 45.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Wood Hammer vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-S: 98-116 (32.5 - 38.5%) -- 4.3% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band burned Trevenant Shadow Claw vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-S: 57-68 (18.9 - 22.5%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band burned Trevenant Wood Hammer vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-S: 49-58 (16.2 - 19.2%) -- possible 8HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Rotom-S Air Slash vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Trevenant: 200-236 (64.3 - 75.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
EDIT: thought of this a few minutes after posting.
Durant @ Choice Band
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- X-Scissor
- Iron Head
- Superpower
- Thunder Fang
CB Durant is another solid offensive check to Trevenant. It possesses a 4x resistance to Trevenant's Wood Hammer thanks to its Bug/Steel typing, has enough physical bulk to switch into both Shadow Claw and Earthquake once, and doesn't care about Trick at all because it's holding the same item as Trevenant, essentially making switching into Trick a waste of a turn for Trevenant. In return, Durant can outspeed Trevenant and easily OHKO it with either X-Scissor or Iron Head. Just like Scrafty though, Durant's lack of recovery and the amount of damage it takes from Shadow Claw and Earthquake means it might have issues switching into Trevenant more than once.
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Shadow Claw vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Durant: 153-180 (59.5 - 70%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Durant: 144-170 (56 - 66.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Durant: 64-76 (24.9 - 29.5%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Hustle Durant X-Scissor vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Trevenant: 325-384 (104.5 - 123.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Choice Band Hustle Durant Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Trevenant: 325-384 (104.5 - 123.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Hawkeye (Fletchinder)
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 152 HP / 252 Atk / 76 Def / 28 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roost
I believe the best way to check CB Trevenant is offensive pressure and Fletchinder offers this always winning Trev 1x1. Fletch is still immune to EQ and has 4x resist to Wood Harmmer only fearing Shadow Claw on the switch while in the other side Fletch can OHKO with Acrobatics.
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Wood Hammer vs. 152 HP / 76 Def Fletchinder: 102-120 (33.6 - 39.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Shadow Claw vs. 152 HP / 76 Def Fletchinder: 240-283 (79.2 - 93.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Fletchinder Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Trevenant: 338-398 (108.6 - 127.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO[/calcs]
Provided Stealth Rock is not up, Braviary can comfortably switch in and take one Wood Hammer and OHKO with Brave Bird. Some other vantage points Braviary has is an immunity to both Shadow Claw and Earthquake. Having its Leftovers tricked would be troublesome, sadly. Another issue is that Braviary would have to hope for a switch out in order to get an opportunity to Roost, since that would potentially turn Wood Hammer into an OHKO. With Stealth Rock up on Braviary's side, Wood Hammer turns into a 2HKO forcing the Braviary user in to a riskier situation.
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Braviary: 182-214 (45 - 52.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Braviary: 182-214 (45 - 52.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Braviary Brave Bird vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Trevenant: 386-456 (124.1 - 146.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Exploud is immune to Shadow Claw and can take an Earthquake in a pinch, naturally outspeeds Trevenant, and OHKOes back with Scrappy Boomburst (or a Fire type move, but Boomburst doesn't miss). However, Wood Hammer is an OHKO, and Trick is annoying to switch into.
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Exploud: 415-489 (118.9 - 140.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Exploud: 231-272 (66.1 - 77.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Exploud Boomburst vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Trevenant: 348-411 (111.8 - 132.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Shiftry is a check
Shiftry @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Defog
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Leaf Storm
Shiftry makes for a pretty good offensive check to Choice Band Trevenant. It can take any one of Trevenant's attacks (although Wood Hammer does quite a number) and easily OHKO with a Dark-type STAB move. Shiftry also doesn't care about getting its Life Orb Tricked away. Unfortunately, this guy can only switch in safely once due to the threat of Wood Hammer. I chose to use the Defog set, since it's the most viable Shiftry set in RU imo; however, you could also use the Swords Dance set, which is more effective seeing as it runs a Jolly nature instead of a Hasty one.
252 Atk Life Orb Shiftry Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Trevenant: 354-421 (113.8 - 135.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Shiftry: 242-285 (75.3 - 88.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Shiftry: 134-158 (41.7 - 49.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Trevenant Shadow Claw vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Shiftry: 141-166 (43.9 - 51.7%) -- 10.9% chance to 2HKO
Aaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy lmao
Pretty self explanatory, Trevenant can switch in Wood Hammer & EQ & Trick, and OHKO back with Shadow Claw since it's faster.
It's the dumbest check ever, but hey, a check is a check:
252 Atk Choice Band Trevenant Shadow Claw vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Trevenant: 420-494 (122.1 - 144.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Glalie is a decent check to Trevenant, it can switch on Trick blocking Trev on the move, and on EQ and Shadow Claw avoiding the OHKO even with rocks up (unless high roll), and it OHKO with Return :)
Soft check as it laughs at every move bar Earthquake (which isn't even a guaranteed OHKO at full health after SR damage, and never OHKOes at full health without hazards) and revenge kills with Flare Blitz. Unfortunately, this leads to Emboar's untimely death. Oh well!
Escavalier @ Assault Vest
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 248 HP / 176 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Megahorn
- Iron Head
- Pursuit
- Knock Off
Escavalier is a check. Overcoat allows Escavalier to switch in on Vivillon without fear of sleep. Iron Head is an OHKO after rocks damage and has a small chance to OHKO without rocks damage. Unless Vivillon has taken prior damage, Escavalier can't reliably switch into Hurricane since the chance to OHKO Vivillon from full health is low and unboosted Hurricane is a 3HKO. There's also the confusion chance from Hurricane to watch out for.
252+ Atk Escavalier Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Vivillon: 256-303 (85 - 100.6%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Escavalier Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Vivillon: 256-303 (85 - 100.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Sky Plate Vivillon Hurricane vs. 174 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Escavalier: 108-127 (33.3 - 39.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
+1 252 SpA Sky Plate Vivillon Hurricane vs. 174 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Escavalier: 160-190 (49.3 - 58.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 248 HP / 28 Atk / 232 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Roar / Megahorn / Protect
Role: Soft Counter
Rhyperior takes little from Hurricane, even boosted ones. Rock Blast breaks through Substitute and always OHKOes (assuming it doesn't miss, of course). Stealth Rock is also a deterrent to the eagle eyed butterfly. The one thing preventing it from being a hard counter is Sleep Powder, and Rhyperior cannot really afford to run Safety Goggles because it is fairly easy to wear down and, as a result, really needs its Leftovers.
252 SpA Sky Plate Vivillon Hurricane vs. 248 HP / 232 SpD Rhyperior: 97-114 (22.4 - 26.3%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
28+ Atk Rhyperior Rock Blast (2 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Vivillon: 560-672 (186 - 223.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Steelix @ Steelixite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Curse
- Heavy slam
100% counter though the set itself snt great standard could do it as well I guess
Ferroseed @ Eviolite
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Protect
Check. Ferroseed is immune to Sleep Powder, is only 2HKOed at +1 by Hurricane, and KOes +1 Vivillon after Stealth Rock with Gyro Ball. However, it has to switch in as Vivillon is setting up, or it will not be able to do enough damage sufficiently quickly.
Slowking @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 Spe
Modest Nature
- Psyshock
- Scald
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Tail
With his rejoin to the tier, AV Slowking is one of the best counter to this. Hurricane will do a really low damage (23.2 - 31.2%) and Vivillion will need to get always 2 or 3 sleep turns in order to be problematic. With Psyshock Slowking doesn't really care about his spdef boosts, and it can phaze Vivillion out with Dragon Tail :)
This is a slightly different AV eelektross variant than the usual one, this checks flying types far more consistently instead of just pivoting through them. Anyways, eelektross take hurricanes like a champ (need to be at +3 to have a chance of 2hko-ing from full hp) and can easily OHKO back with thunderbolt even at +2 if it used substitute. Gotta watch out for sleep powder + potential unlucky turns but overall this can easily counter vivillon.
+2 252 SpA Sky Plate Vivillon Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Eelektross: 135-159 (36 - 42.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Eelektross Thunderbolt vs. +2 0 HP / 4 SpD Vivillon: 240-284 (79.7 - 94.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Magneton @ Eviolite
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Flash Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
Eviolite allows Magneton to take Vivillon's hits with ease. Since it has access to Volt Switch, you can go for that and then you can switch into something with priority like Fletchinder
+2 252 SpA Vivillon Hurricane vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Magneton: 62-73 (25.7 - 30.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
Infiltrator + Brave Bird = Ded Vivillon, aside from you know a sleep powder, best way for it to be dealt with is to have Vivillon Sleep powder something else, switch to Golbat, more than likely they will Sub up, and then next turn, Tank the Hurricane, and then KO with Brave bird.

This is going to be my first contribution to this forum so sorry if things are a bit confusing.
Beating Vivillion requires 1 or 2 of few things
Can you beat it if it has a sub up?
Can you handle sleep powder on the switch in?
Can you take +1 Hurricane
Can you outspeed it at +1
I couldn't really find anything that did all 4 because well that's basically impossible only using RU and below mons.
So I chose Probopass
It is a 100% counter to this thing it may as well just swap out. It's obviously not as good M Steelix but hey why not.
I could run a sleep talk set/lum berry but that's kinda needless
Probopass @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy nature
- Stealth Rock
- Volt Switch
- Rock Blast
- Thunder Wave/ Toxic
The worst that it can do is sleep powder on the switch. Then it forced out.
+6 252 SpA Sky Plate Vivillon Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Probopass: 90-106 (27.7 - 32.7%) -- 99.9% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
Rock Blast kills even if it's behind a sub (unless you only get 2 hits in which case it will live)
0 Atk Probopass Rock Blast (2 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Vivillon: 240-288 (79.7 - 95.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
The other moves also cripple it either making it's speed no existent or removing half its health when it switches back in. Or you can use toxic if your team has enough options.
Tangrowth is a counter. There aren't many things that can switch into Choice Band Granbull safely without knowing which attack he's going for. Luckily, offensive Tangrowth is naturally bulky enough to tank any of its hits, outspeeds, and OHKOes with Sludge Bomb. Thanks to Regenerator, it can often do this two or more times, depending on which attack Granbull uses. Sleep Powder is also great for expected switch-ins.

Well, again with Golbat, simple reason, it works well. Golbat can come in free on a predicted EQ and Practically for Free on a CC, anything else would require a 3HKO with max rolls. From here you can then either Defog to remove any hazards for free, Toxic an on coming attacker for pressure, or Roost up the health you just lost from coming in.

Weezing is immune to EQ and resists Granbull's STAB move and strongest coverage option (Play Rough and Close Combat respectively) Weezing can proceed to KO Granbull with Sludge Bomb, set a layer of Toxic Spikes, or pressure a switch-in with Will-O-Wisp. Weezing becomes a bigger counter if it chooses to run Pain Split, but losing out on Flamethrower can be kinda bad with Mega Steelix, Escavalier, and Durant around.
