ASB HIGHLIGHT MATCH
HLM #11 | WEEK OF 27/10/2015

Welcome, one and all, to the greatest semestral spectacle of ASB talent: the ASB Highlight Match! Highlight matches pit two of the top ASB players against each other for all to see! These matches will test the skills of the players chosen, and will give us a chance to see who comes out on top! Best of all, YOU are the one who gets to choose the participants! That's right, you will be voting on who gets to play who in these matches. It's a fun time for both the players and the spectators. You don't want to miss this battle, folks!

Match #11: 27/10/2015

Rules:

BATTLE NAME: Doubles can be fair, dammit :(

Format: 4vs4
Style: Doubles
Chills/Recovery: 5 chills / 2 recoveries
Disqualification: 3 Day DQ / 4 Day Ref DQ
Substitution Rules: 3 + KO Substitutions
Switch Rules: OK
Item Rules: On
Ability Rules: All
Arena: ASB Tournament Arena
Mega Evolutions: 1 per team

SPECIAL RULE 1: Each pokemon will act twice per round instead of the regular three.
SPECIAL RULE 2: Instead of using the 0.75 BAP multiplier, the entire damage dealt by a spread move is multiplied by 0.67. So the formula is: ((BAP [Ignore standard spread modifier] *Screens + stuff - stuff)*Weakness/Resistance+Stat Stage Differences+Type-Specific-Item)*0.67 = Damage
SPECIAL RULE 3: We will limit this HLM only to players who never were in one of those.

it isn't plagiarism since I am copying it from myself :)

Rules are simple and intend to showcase the current metagame now that Gen VI came and settled.

Prizes consist of normal battle counters (that's 2 CC per trainer and 1 EC, 2 MC, 1 AC and any gained KO Counters per participating Pokemon). The winner receives 5 UC to spend as well and, of course, will be recorded as a Highlight Match winner!

Reffing

Anyone that wishes to ref this battle may PM me stating their qualifications to ref. I will choose one ref and one subref to avoid problems if the original ref has a conflict. Referees recieve the heightened rewards for gym battles, to represent the stricter DQ time and exceptional work needed to display.

NEW RULE: Referees will now gain 1.5× Normal Pay from matches to reflect the higher standard of the matches.

Team Leethoof

Aerodactyl [Tulowitzki] (Male)
Nature
: Jolly (+ Speed, -Sp.Atk)

Tulowitzki is an arrogant showoff like nobody else. He's just as happy to win an important match as he is to look good losing one, and could care less about the outcome as long as people understand he was the MVP. Sure, he appreciates his teammates, but only if they admit that he was the star of the show. Which, of course, he is.

Type:

: Steel STAB; immune to Sandstorm damage, immune to Poison/Toxic status, but can be corroded specifically by Acid and Acid Spray, making them susceptible to Poison-type attacks and Poison/Toxic Status.
: Psychic STAB; can lift and throw opponents with Psychic regardless of Special Attack Rank. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

Abilities:
Levitate: (Passive) This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading the Ground moves Bulldoze, Earthquake, Fissure, and Magnitude. Earth Power will have three (3) less Base Attack Power. Dig and Dive can strike a Levitating Pokemon if their user is over Size Class 4, has Levitate, is 3.5m or larger, or is a Flying-type. Otherwise Dig and Dive will miss. Ground moves can still hit.
Heatproof: (Passive) This Pokemon's mirror-like alloyed skin protects it from Fire-type attacks, reducing the type effectiveness of Fire-typed attacks to the next level of resistance (2x weak becomes neutral, neutral becomes resistance, etc.) The damage inflicted by burns is also cut in half.
Heavy Metal: (Passive) The Pokemon's body structure is immensely dense, doubling its actual weight.

Houndoom (Giovanna) (F)
Nature

Giovanna is a smug, harsh judge, and frankly, quite a bitch. Always playing hard-to-get, Giovanna's friends are few and far between, but turns her sass into loyalty to any who get close to her. Stasis has managed to make friends with Giovanna, mostly because the latter pities her.

Team Gerard

Katherine (Gardevoir) ♀
Nature: Bold (+1 Def, -1 Atk)
Type: Psychic / Fairy
Psychic STAB; Can lift and throw opponents with Psychic regardless of Special Attack Rank. Psychic-Type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.
Fairy STAB; -1 EN on non-Fairy Typed Nature, Sound, and Scent moves (Stacks with second STAB where applicable). (Nature Power, Natural Gift; Sound Moves; Aromatherapy, Odor Sleuth, Sweet Scent)

Abilities: Synchronize / Trace / Telepathy (H) / Pixilate (M)

Synchronize: (Passive) Pokemon with this ability mentally link their condition to an opposing Pokemon and pass on any status inflicted on them to their foe. Due to their body structure, Poison-Types cannot be poisoned, Fire-Types cannot be burned & Electric-Types cannot be paralyzed in this manner.
Trace: (Trigger) When entering into battle, this Pokemon can copy an ability on one of its opponents for 6 EN. This effect only triggers if the ability to be copied is specified when the Pokemon is sent out. The ability remains on the Pokemon for six (6) actions. Wonder Guard cannot be Traced.
Telepathy: (Passive) This Pokemon has a mental link with its allies in multiple battles, which allows it to avoid taking damage from allied attacks that damage each foe or the entire field like Blizzard and Earthquake. They are still affected by an opponents spread damage attacks.
Pixilate: (Toggle) By default, this Pokemon's Normal-type moves are Fairy-type moves, and have an additional two (2) BAP boost. When toggled, this Pokemon's Normal-type attacks have their BAP increased by two (2). If a Pokemon has been skill-swapped multiple abilities that change Normal-type attacks, the attacks become dual-typed, but the BAP boosts of the abilities do not stack.

Type: Fire / Poison

Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic status. Absorb Toxic Spikes on switch-in unless Flying-Typed or using the ability Levitate. -- Accuracy when using Toxic, Poison Gas, or Poison Powder, hitting even during Dig, Fly, etc. Ignore Fog's accuracy reduction. Store Command.
Fire STAB; immune to burn status. Brighten Command.

Abilities: Dry Skin / Illuminate (H)

Dry Skin: (Passive) This Pokemon has spongy, yet sensitive skin, causing it to burn in bright sunlight for damage but absorb water and heal damaged tissues in rain. This effect results in dealing two (2) damage/action to this Pokemon in sunlight and recovering two (2) HP/action in rain. In addition, the dry skin is very vulnerable to flames and the Base Attack Power of incoming Fire attacks is increased by two (2). The Pokemon absorbs the damage of water attacks and recovers 25% of HP the damage that would have been inflicted.
Illuminate: (Toggle) No default effect. When toggled, this Pokemon emits a continuous light that brightens the environment and makes it easier for all Pokemon to see. While this ability is active, any darkened or twilight state in the battle is negated and all moves used by any Pokemon (friend or foe, or itself) have their accuracy increased by 10% (flat). Boosts from multiple Illuminates do not stack.

This is a bit tricky, so let's try to make the best of it, Fantine! Katherine! Go!

Rare Candy & Gardevoirite.

i brought the worst pocket pick in the entire world

[Rare Candy] [Houndoomite]

Ivetta: Hurricane (Gardevoir) -> Hurricane (Gardevoir)
If Houndoom is targeted with a damaging fighting-type attack, then use Rage Powder. Highest priority.
If you are targeted with Taunt, then use Protect.
If Gardevoir is under the effects of a P/E move, then use Sleep Powder (Kitsunoh). lowest priority
Giovanna (MEGAEVOLVE): Fire Blast (Kitsunoh) -> Flamethrower (Kitsunoh)
If Kitsunoh is under the effects of a P/E move, then target Gardevoir with Dark Pulse.
If Kitsunoh is under the effects of a D/E move, then target Gardevoir with Dark Pulse.
If Kitsunoh has Flash Fire, then use Dark Pulse (Kitsunoh)

I was to be allowed to Trace BEFORE orders were issued. I'll Trace Flash Fire, if it changes your actions in any way you're free to reorder.

The match starts off with Vivillon and Houndoom facing Kitsunoh and Gardevoir. Vivillon is kind of an odd choice, but Leethoof is an experienced trainer who hopefully knows what he's doing. Houndoom starts off by emitting a piercing violet light, enveloping itself in a cocoon of aura energy. Dust is sent flying away and a whirlwind is whipped up, causing a small dust storm. Soon, the Houndoom bursts forth from the aura, in a newer, stronger form. Gerard just stands there and gapes, unaware that-oh for God's sake-GERARD. THIS IS WHY YOU LOST TO ME IN THAT GYM BATTLE. Scared of this beast, Gerard commands Fantine, his Kitsunoh, to strike the Houndoom and prevent it from acting. As Kitsunoh does just that, the Vivillon, Ivetta, emits a pale white glow that envelops both itself and Houndoom. Kitsunoh's attack seems just a tad bit weaker than it normally would be. Vivillon creates a powerful gale and directs it at Gardevoir, hitting it for a good deal of damage. Gardevoir retaliates with a wind attack of her own, which is a good deal weaker, but hits both of her opponents. Vivillon is relatively unfazed, but Houndoom seems to be even further hindered, seeming to be a tad sluggish in the cold.

Kitsunoh then sends a barrage of rocks at the opposing duo, dealing a good deal of damage. Vivillon creates another gale, hoping to blow the rocks toward Gardevoir. That didn't happen, unfortunately for Ivetta, but the wind seems to have done enough damage on its own. Gardevoir lets out a piercing scream, which Giovanna found irritating. She reared back and prepared to launch a blast of fire at Katherine, but at the last second recognized that the Gardevoir glowed with a faint fiery aura. Remembering that she had encountered this same property before on other opponents, and remembering that her fire had no effect on these opponents, Giovanna instead redirected her fiery stream toward Fantine, hitting for a lot of damage.

So far, Leethoof and Gerard seem to be neck and neck, as despite Gerard getting 4 actions off as opposed to Leethoof's 3 and the fact that Gerard used moves that hit both opponents, Leethoof's attacks deal a good amount of damage.
