V1 hosted by Hogg, project proposal approved by Hikari and Sam.
Changes in mechanics approved by King UU, now taken over by yours truly.

PROLOGUE

Long ago, a man's fantasy became a reality in a form never seen before: Kitchen Coliseum, a giant arena where chefs can cook up new original Pokemon teams and see them tested. The motivation for spending his fortune to create Kitchen Coliseum was to encounter new original teams which could be called true artistic creations.

To realize his dream, he secretly started choosing the top chefs of various styles of battling, and he named his men the Iron Chefs. With great support from the community, he ultimately decided to become part of the pool of Iron Chefs himself. These Iron Chefs possess invincible culinary skills, and they are:

Kitchen Coliseum is the arena where Iron Chefs await the challenges of master chefs from around the world. Challengers must build around the theme ingredient of the round. Using all their senses, skill and creativity, they are to prepare artistic teams never tasted before.

Every battle, reputations are on the line in Kitchen Coliseum, where master chefs pit their artistic creations against each other. What inspiration does this round's challenger bring? And how will the Iron Chef fight back?

The heat will be on!

. . . . . . .

INTRODUCTION

Hello, everyone! Chairman and fellow Iron Chef Euphonos here, and welcome to the second installment of Iron Chef Smogon in the Underused Subforum! This project allows the contestants to showcase their creative team building skills and to put their masterful creations to the test against some of the UU's top battlers and team builders. Each round I'll pick a theme to build around, and contestants will do their best to come up with an original, effective team around that theme.

The mechanics of the project will be shown below. There are significant changes that are colored in blue, so take time to read everything.
. . . . . . .

MECHANICS

There are four phases every episode: the first phase being Team Building which will last for three days, the second being Challenging Iron Chefs which will last for two days; the second phase being Judging and Voting, which will last for (less than) two days; the third phase being the Declaration of Victors that will devote a tiny portion of the current round in preparation for the next round.

PHASE 1: TEAM BUILDING
  • At the beginning of each round, a secret ingredient will be revealed. Contestants have until a certain time (posted in the secret ingredients post) to build around this secret ingredient, which may be a core, a team concept, or a theme. The team must be submitted to the Chairman through the Smogon Forums PM.
    • The Chairman will notify through the reply whether the team has been approved or there are missing elements that need adding.
    • Any article submitted elsewhere other than the Smogon Forums PM will not be accepted.
  • Teams should be submitted in a standardized format. It should include the importable of your team followed by a brief description of how the team works.
    • This is not an RMT, so don't feel like you need to devote several lines of description for each Pokemon, but it is your responsibility to ensure that judges understand how your team functions.
    • The Chairman is strictly enforcing the rule of having a brief description of the team in order to make the judging procedure a lot easier. As such, here are the guide questions for a meaningful description of your team (contestants may not opt to follow them):
      1. What comes to your mind when the secret ingredient is revealed?
      2. What is your thought process upon building your team?
      3. Were there any prevalent issues upon building your team?
    • As such, any incomplete element in submitting teams will not be accepted.
  • Within this period, no Iron Chef battle should be taking place.
  • Once the team has been submitted, participants are not allowed to withdraw.

PHASE 2: CHALLENGING THE IRON CHEFS
  • Only the participants who have their teams approved are eligible to face any of the Iron Chefs available.
    • The Iron Chefs are NOT required to use the theme ingredient. Instead, they will push your team to its breaking point.
    • The biggest challenge of the aspiring chefs is that Iron Chefs also know the secret ingredient.
  • Battles must be played using the team that was sent to the Chairman. Any discrepancies between teams may result in disqualification.
    • As such, slashing any moves and other specifications are not allowed.
  • All win/loss posts in the thread must be provided with replays to make the judging process more meaningful.
  • Contestants may issue a challenge to more than one Iron Chefs, but they may do so only once.
PHASE 3: JUDGING AND VOTING
  • Once all battles are completed, the Chairman will reveal all of the teams, along with their battle replays.
  • Regardless of the outcome of the Iron Chef match(es), all teams sent to the Chairman are subject to evaluations and criticisms from Iron Chefs themselves, and to voting from co-participants and third parties.
    • If contestants have sent the dish to the Chairman but didn't manage to issue a challenge on any of the Iron Chefs, their dish will not be presented.
    • Conversely, if contestants completed battles with the Iron Chefs but didn't manage to send the dish (note: with brief descriptions required; guide questions found above) to the Chairman, their dish will not be presented.
    • Only the Iron Chefs will use the system from the previous installment in evaluating contestants' dishes. The system is based on three separate categories in Creativity, Use of Theme, and Effectiveness.
      • CREATIVITY (0-5 POINTS): Is your finished dish a delight never before tasted by our judges, or is it the same standard fare? Your goal is not to merely reheat an existing team, but to break boundaries and challenge standards. A team that was copied from an RMT or tournament with a few minor changes should score poorly here, while a team full of new ideas could bring home as many as five points.
      • USE OF INGREDIENT (0-5 POINTS): How well does your team use this round's theme? Is it merely tacked on to satisfy the tournament's requirements, or is it a fundamental part of how the team works? A team that barely uses the round's theme could end up with nothing here, while a team that not only uses the theme but redefines might win it all.
      • EFFECTIVENESS (0-10 POINTS): And now we're down to the real meat of the dish. How good is the team? This category is worth twice as much as the other two, because in the end, it doesn't matter how original your dish is - if it doesn't taste good, then people won't eat it. A team that will struggle to succeed in the current metagame, even against mediocre teams, might receive a zero here. On the other hand, show the judges how great your team is, and you could take home a full ten points.
    • Final scores will be determined using the conformity method, giving each dish a final score between 0 and 20.
      • The conformity method is a method wherein Iron Chefs agree or disagree with the initial rates until a certain point is given.
      • The Chairman will post the score at the end of the round, including consolidated comments from all Iron Chefs.
    • To spare from the hassles of judging during the previous installment, the voting system is now implemented.
      • People can vote for their most favorite team in terms of the three aforementioned categories: Creativity, Use of Theme, and Effectiveness. They can also vote for one team in more than one category.
      • As such, participants are also allowed to vote, but they are not allowed to vote for their own team.
  • At the end of this phase, the Chairman will then post the results, with bonuses and deductions taken into account. These bonuses and deductions are as follows:
    • WINNING AN IRON CHEF MATCH: 2 points will be awarded from the total score.
    • LOSING AN IRON CHEF MATCH: 1 point will be deducted from the total score.
  • The voting template will be given once Phase 1 is over.

PHASE 4: DECLARATION OF VICTORS
  • At the end of the round, all winners, along with their dishes, will be entered into our fabled Hall of Fame. These hallowed halls will show the best of the best, and be preserved for future rounds.
    • Aside from awarding the OVERALL WINNER of each round, there will three special awards that will be placed in the Hall of Fame as well. They are as follows:
      • THE MOST AWE-INSPIRING DISH: This award is given to the participant with the most number of votes in the Creativity category. People who have voted for that participant have witnessed how he/she made use of unorthodox selections that made significant work to the team.
      • THE MOST ESSENTIAL DISH: This award is given to the participant with the most number of votes in the Use of Ingredient category. People who have voted for that participant have seen how he/she strongly incorporated secret ingredients to the strength of the rest of the team.
      • THE BEST-TASTING DISH: This award is given to the participant with the most number of votes in the Effectiveness category. People who have voted for that participant have seen how he/she plays it to his/her strengths, and how he/she overcomes any disadvantages in match-ups.
  • Any participant who won as Overall Winners of the Iron Chef challenge at least twice will be given the opportunity to supplant one of our existing Iron Chefs, and take on the mantle themselves!

The secret ingredient for this episode is...

#MARCHMEMORIES: HEART OF THE UNDERDOG!

Don't mind "Dignity of the Retarded", it's a worse translation for the "Heart of the Underdog", really.

Have you ever noticed Iron Chef Euphonos using Pokemon from the Never-Used tier and below?

This is one secret ingredient suggested by Iron Chef Euphonos with quite a convoluted mechanic before. However, to make it more simpler this episode of Iron Chef, participants are required to feature exactly two Pokemon from the Never-Used tier (NU) and below. While (with all due respect) some pure NU/PU teams work very well against UU teams, the restriction is solely for the purpose of maintaining the standards of a solid UU team while unlocking the potentials of these said Pokemon.

Will the underdogs be able to triumph over its foes? Or will our Iron Chefs stomp these underdogs down? Who will you root for in this episode of Iron Chef?

Who will incorporate the hidden gems well against the Iron Chefs?
BrandonBeast || Lord Esche || King Troller || Umlaug || camo pumpkin || ChilliTacos || Jetstertsyko || Where'dTheseDucksComeFrom || Nightingales

Participants have until
SATURDAY, MARCH 5, 9 AM EST
to complete your dishes to be sent to the Chairman via PM.

Allez, cuisine!

HALL OF FAME
Section 1: The Overall Winners

Episode 1: The Legendary Bird Trio [won by Manipulative]

All teams must contain either Articuno, Zapdos, or Moltres.

Chef Manipulative wanted to build a team featuring Zapdos, so he put in Mega Abomasnow as one of its integral teammates for its capability of running a priority move in Ice Shard and its capability of taking Water attacks better than Zapdos. From the formation of the Zapdos + Mega Abomasnow core, he decided to turn this one into a Balanced team, through his addition of Blissey and Quagsire. Finally, he added Salamence and Cobalion to the party as they bring offensive presence that would bring pressure to bulky builds and removing Entry Hazards whenever possible. His team managed to defeat four Iron Chefs in the episode, bringing him the upper hand to become the Overall Champion. Furthermore, this team is also awarded the Best-Tasting Dish from the Underused community for such a feat.

Zapdos @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Discharge
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Roost

Abomasnow-Mega (M) @ Abomasite
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 196 HP / 252 Atk / 60 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Ice Shard
- Seed Bomb
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake

Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Seismic Toss
- Heal Bell
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock

Quagsire (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Curse
- Recover

Salamence (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 29 HP / 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Draco Meteor
- Roost
- Defog

Cobalion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge

CREATIVITY: 3 / 5
It doesn't look quite groundbreaking to one of the Iron Chef's eyes to become one of the most creative teams, as most of the sets in the team, along with the Blissey + Quagsire core, are getting more popular nowadays. That Iron Chef did salute, however, to the unconventional use of some sets such as Discharge Zapdos, Curse Quagsire and Stone Edge Cobalion to deal with majority of the threats most of the time.

USE OF THEME: 3.5 / 5
The Iron Chefs find the Zapdos in this team acting like an offensive supporting cast to most of the Pokemon in the team through dealing heavy damage and (hopefully) providing paralyses against key threats, which is a good take on how that Pokemon should be used.

EFFECTIVENESS: 8 / 10
This is no doubt one of the exemplars to a Balanced team as everything in the team synergizes very well both offensively and defensively. What holds it back from making this team a considerably high grade in this criterion is the lack of a prompt switch-in to wall breakers such as Mixed Infernape (as Iron Chef R0ady exploited in the match), and Adamant Lucario and Feraligatr who are able to get past Quagsire even without the boosts. Through smart plays and a hint of gut feelings, this team can reach to greater heights.

SCORE: 14.5 / 20
BONUS: +7
(won against 4 Iron Chefs, only to lose to Iron Chef R0ady)
TOTAL SCORE: 21.5

  • vs. Iron Chef Euphonos - WIN
  • vs. Iron Chef R0ady - LOSS
  • vs. Iron Chef LilOu - WIN
  • vs. Iron Chef DaSpoofy - WIN
  • vs. Iron Chef Hogg - WIN

Episode 2: Spider-Pig [won by Do A Bibarel]

The core containing Mamoswine and Galvantula is required to enter the challenge.
Chef Do A Bibarel's team was built for his interest on Servine. As Servine is initially slow to pull off a sweep, it became a mandate for him to run Sticky Web without caring about being shrugged off by Magic Bounce thanks to Servine's Contrary boosting its Speed upon entry. Next, Chandelure, Mamoswine, and Empoleon were added to the team to exert pressure against most Pokemon to deal with Entry Hazards through Ghost typing to block Rapid Spin, Ice STAB's to deal with most Flying-types with Defog (and opposing Empoleon with Earthquake), and Defiant to counteract Defog users, respectively. Finally, Porygon2 was selected as a cherry on top to check majority of the metagame. While Chef Do A Bibarel was one of the chefs during the episode to win against one Iron Chef, he won over the Iron Chef's evaluations for its reminiscence to the team Iron Chefs R0ady and Euphonos built ages ago. Furthermore, it was one of the co-recipients of the Most Awe-Inspiring Dish by the Underused community.

Galvantula @ Life Orb
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sticky Web
- Thunder
- Bug Buzz
- Energy Ball

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Steel Wing
- Earthquake
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall

OG STUNNA (Servine) @ Eviolite
Ability: Contrary
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Giga Drain
- Glare

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpD
Calm Nature
- Recover
- Tri Attack
- Foul Play
- Thunder Wave

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Knock Off

Chandelure @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flash Fire
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Memento
- Trick

CREATIVITY: 4 / 5
Your unconventional options in Defiant Empoleon, Foul Play Porygon2, and Contrary Servine warrant a considerably high score here. What holds it back to garner a perfect score in this criterion, however, is the skepticism found in Memento Chandelure as no "consistent" win condition (a set-up sweeper, ideally) is present in this team. Nevertheless, this team deserved to become one of the most awe-inspiring dishes ever created this round.

USE OF THEME: 5 / 5
There is a very strong incorporation of the core to the overall flavor of the team, and it is actually very reminiscent to the team Iron Chefs R0ady and Euphonos built ages ago. What stood out among the rest of the dishes presented this round is the presence of Servine waiting for its chance to wreak havoc to the opposition using Contrary-boosted Leaf Storms.

EFFECTIVENESS: 8 / 10
Skepticism for the Memento Chandelure aside, this team is one of the most effective teams this round. It has all the tools it need for the success of this team. However, what holds back to garner higher score than expected is the lack of initial Speed before setting up Sticky Web or pulling off Glare and Thunder Wave to the opposition; with fast offensive teams exerting pressure to slow ones most of the time, it will become a struggle for you to pull it off (though it's very possible). Otherwise, this team is very solid to warrant a considerably high score in this criterion.

SCORE: 17 / 20
BONUS: +2
(won vs. Iron Chef Euphonos)
TOTAL SCORE: 19

  • vs. Iron Chef Euphonos - WIN

Episode 3: Sonic with a Chance of Ice Balls [won by BrandonBeast]

The core containing Mega Glalie and Yanmega is required to enter the challenge.

Glalie @ Glalitite
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Explosion
- Double-Edge
- Freeze-Dry
- Super Fang

Yanmega @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Giga Drain
- U-turn

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Hydro Pump
- Acid Spray
- Ice Beam

Krookodile @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge

Whimsicott @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Energy Ball
- Encore
- U-turn

Metagross @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake

CREATIVITY: 4.5 / 5
This team actually is one of Nightingales's serious contenders in this criterion as most components of the team are very uncommon, such as Mega Glalie with Super Fang, Choice Specs Yanmega (with U-turn!), Offensive Tentacruel, Choice Scarf Krookodile, and Shuca Berry Metagross. No wonder with those unconventional sets, Iron Chef R0ady considered it to be the favorite team among the rest of the team.

USE OF INGREDIENT: 4 / 5
While there is the presence of Mega Glalie and Yanmega in the team, the supporting cast isn't strong enough for the core to shine; the lack of strong sweepers (besides Choice Scarf Krookodile) holds it back from garnering a perfect score from this criterion.

EFFECTIVENESS: 7 / 10
This is another team with great potential as the sets utilized, while uncommon, will definitely rock the opposing team quite nicely. There are some weaknesses worth addressing, however: first being Fire Spam as one of the most pressing issues to deal with in this team--once Tentacruel gets defeated (even from a very strong Fire attack due to poor physical bulk), any Fire attack would roast this team alive; the second being the lack of potent Fighting-types (or, say, Fighting attacks) to deal with Snorlax and Porygon2, the Pokemon that would give your team a hard time dealing against as it could tank a lot of hits and deal some damage back at your team. Consider putting a Fighting-type somewhere (probably Lucario) to clean house once the opposing team is weakened; Krookodile isn't enough as there are some switch-ins to both of its STABs. Otherwise, this team could be soaring to greater heights when executed very well. Well done!

SCORE: 15.5 / 20
BONUS: +1
(won vs. Iron Chef Hogg, lost vs. Iron Chef Euphonos)
TOTAL SCORE: 16.5

  • vs. Iron Chef Euphonos - LOSS
  • vs. Iron Chef Hogg - WIN

Episode 4: Chandelier in a Snowstorm [won by Kreme]

The core containing Mega Abomasnow and Chandelure is required to enter the challenge.

Abomasnow @ Abomasite
Ability: Soundproof
EVs: 8 HP / 68 Atk / 252 SpA / 180 Spe
Rash Nature
- Growth
- Ice Shard
- Blizzard
- Giga Drain

Chandelure @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Trick
- Memento

Slurpuff @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Play Rough
- Drain Punch
- Return
- Belly Drum

Cobalion @ Chople Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge
- Iron Head
- Close Combat

Krookodile @ Tanga Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

Salamence @ Dragon Fang
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast

CREATIVITY: 4 / 5
While the team at first glance is all the more standard, you used some unusually effective options--including Growth on Mega Abomasnow, Chople Berry Cobalion, Tanga Berry Krookodile (never seen this before!) and bluffing Special Salamence with Dragon Fang. They warrant a decently high score in this criterion for showing its creative touches while at the same time effective.

USE OF INGREDIENT: 5 / 5
This is one best exemplar to the most essential dish, and the community deserved your team because of how you incorporate Mega Abomasnow's and Chandelure's wall breaking abilities coupled with set-up sweeping from Slurpuff and Cobalion, which is very reminiscent of one of LilOu's most successful teams ever made.

EFFECTIVENESS: 8 / 10
This is one of the favorite teams ever submitted in this episode of Iron Chef. You have all the tools designed for an offensive team, and those little creative touches you make changes a lot of perspective. This is one team very well done; solid at its finest, worth a tournament shot. Congratulations!

SCORE: 17 / 20

Timid Nature
- Earth Power
- Draco Meteor
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast

The Meta is Gross (Metagross) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Explosion
- Bullet Punch

Coba Berry y/y (Cobalion) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head

Hail Hydra! (Hydreigon) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- U-turn
- Outrage
- Superpower
- Crunch

Zap Dos Dongers (Zapdos) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Toxic
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Scald

CREATIVITY: 3.5 / 5
The only underrated set this team utilized is Choice Scarf Hydreigon with its physical movepool. Assault Vest Metagross with Explosion, Seismitoad with Toxic, and Specially Defensive Zapdos with Hidden Power Grass aside, the rest of the sets are much of a trend in this metagame. (At least it has the most creative touch among everything!)

USE OF INGREDIENT: 3.5 / 5
Among all the possible win conditions you have there, you chose Cobalion to clean house after the damage dealt by Kyurem and Metagross has been done--that alone is a very decent choice on your part.

EFFECTIVENESS: 7 / 10
During Team Preview, it's quite hard to deduce who among the three Pokemon (Seismitoad, Cobalion, and Metagross) in your team will up Stealth Rock, which is a great tactic to deceive any possible Magic Bouncers from doing short work of bouncing those hazards in the field. Next, Zapdos is the only Pokemon in the team that absorbs Fighting attacks that half of your team is weak against (and Seismitoad can't take at most two powerful Fighting attacks); as such, shifting Zapdos's role from a Specially Defensive one to Physically Defensive Pokemon with Air Cutter or Toxic over Hidden Power Grass make it a fine choice to deal with such Fighting-types. Finally, there's some skepticism on Physical Scarf Hydreigon--while creative, yes, it doesn't manage to fulfill what should be fulfilled; a Special Attacking Scarf set is much better overall. Otherwise, this team is quite solid enough to become a huge success. Well done!

SCORE: 14 / 20
BONUS: +2
(won vs. Iron Chefs Hogg and NV; lost vs. Iron Chefs Euphonos and R0ady)
TOTAL SCORE: 16

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Acrobatics
- Knock Off
- Superpower
- U-turn

Swampert-Mega @ Swampertite
Ability: Damp
EVs: 136 HP / 192 Atk / 4 SpD / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rain Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Power-Up Punch

CREATIVITY: 3.5 / 5
You've made use of Shuckle (along with Defiant Tornadus to lure Defoggers), Mega Swampert with Power-Up Punch, and Shuca Berry Empoleon with Agility, all of which warrant another fairly decent score in this criterion.

USE OF INGREDIENT: 4.5 / 5
The team concept is very cool in a way that the core is there to punch holes in the opposition, along with the underrated Shuckle + Defiant Tornadus side core to make the secret ingredient shine brighter. That is why Chairman and fellow Iron Chef Euphonos selected this team as the Most Essential Dish for such feat.

EFFECTIVENESS: 8 / 10
As reflected in the score in the Use of Ingredient criterion, the offensive presence is very huge that would intimidate the whole opposition. One key flaw upon further examination of the team is the surprising lack of Dark resistances--as such, Mega Sharpedo could deem very threatening if not handled properly. Despite your loss to Iron Chef R0ady, the team is very solid and very effective in what it does.

SCORE: 16 / 20
BONUS: +1
(won vs. Iron Chef Euphonos, lost vs. Iron Chef R0ady)
TOTAL SCORE: 17

  • vs. Iron Chef Euphonos - WIN
  • vs. Iron Chef R0ady - LOSS

Episode 7: Cheap Shots [won by Nightingales]

All teams must have at least two Pokemon with at least one move having a Priority of greater than or equal to 1, boosted by their respective abilities or not.

Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 228 Def / 4 SpA / 24 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Calm Mind
- Scald

Crobat @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Cross Poison
- Defog
- Brave Bird
- U-turn

Infernape @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Grass Knot
- Vacuum Wave

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder Wave
- Tri Attack
- Recover
- Magic Coat

Virizion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Leaf Blade
- Stone Edge

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 176 Def / 68 SpA / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Roost
- Defog
- Heat Wave

CREATIVITY: 3 / 5
Scarf Crobat, Magic Coat Porygon2, and the more underrated Virizion warrants this team a decent score in this criterion. (Side note: I just found out that your team has two Defoggers there's no Shedinja or any Pokemon other than those Flying Pokemon to benefit from clearing hazards away.)

USE OF INGREDIENT: 4 / 5
That moment when people thought they're on a verge of a sweep until Scarf Crobat ended it--that's a cheap shot in spirit. While you minimally used the requirements for the secret ingredient, you made use of Magic Coat Porygon2 to bounce any status move aimed at your team, and Vacuum Wave Infernape to take care of some threats (though it's not enough with only Vacuum Wave being your priority attack).

EFFECTIVENESS: 7.5 / 10
Does your team literally have anything to deal with defensive Calm Mind Reuniclus with Psyshock and Focus Blast? That one would be a huge nuisance to the team, especially that your team doesn't have any Psychic resistances; Scarf Crobat could be replaced with Mandibuzz to remedy that situation. Nonetheless, the team is very solid that people shouldn't underestimate.

SCORE: 14.5 / 20
BONUS: +2
(won vs. Iron Chef NV)
TOTAL SCORE: 16.5

  • vs. Iron Chef NV - WIN

Episode 8: Under the Sea [won by Kreme]

All teams must contain at least two of the following required Pokemon: Gyarados, Feraligatr, Crawdaunt, and/or Sharpedo.

Cyndequil. first built this team which became a huge sensation on the ladder. By the time the secret ingredient was revealed, it happened that the team fulfilled the requirement, and Chef Kreme used the team in hopes of being successful against the Iron Chefs. The insurmountable amount of Water-types makes this dish a lot hotter than expected. With Grass-type Pokemon being a nuisance to the whole team, he incorporated Rindo Berry Swampert along with Mirror Coat to take it down. With Ice Beam Crawdaunt and Special Attacking Feraligatr, defensive threats like Chesnaught will think twice before switching in outright. With Explosion in Cloyster's repertoire, it takes out any Bulky Water standing in the way in hopes of outlasting his team. Chairman and fellow Iron Chef Euphonos has selected this team to become the recipient of the Most Essential Dish award for incorporating a squad full of Water-types and at the same time using all of the required Pokemon which work altogether, while the community nominated this team to become the recipient of the Best-Tasting Dish despite the loss against two Iron Chefs.

Cloyster @ Focus Sash
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Icicle Spear
- Hydro Pump
- Explosion
- Shell Smash

Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Focus Blast
- Agility

Gyarados @ Power Herb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Bounce
- Earthquake

Swampert @ Rindo Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Mirror Coat
- Stealth Rock

Crawdaunt @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off
- Crabhammer
- Ice Beam

Sharpedo @ Sharpedonite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Crunch
- Waterfall
- Protect
- Ice Fang

CREATIVITY: 4 / 5
What makes the team warrant a good score in this criterion is the insurmountable amount of Water-types. Each Pokemon in your team has subtle, unorthodox, yet interesting modifications to take down threats such as Rindo Berry + Mirror Coat Swampert, Shell Smash Cloyster with Explosion and Hydro Pump, and Agility Feraligatr, among others.

USE OF INGREDIENT: 5 / 5
Of course, it's Mono-Water. And you literally use all of the secret ingredients very nicely, and not just slapped for the sake of essence; the team worked altogether.

EFFECTIVENESS: 8 / 10
For an offensive Mono-Water team like this, you manage to cover threats especially coming from the bane every mono-Water teams suffer: Electric- and Grass-type Pokemon. Poliwrath aside, one of the only problems found in this team upon further examination is Whimsicott which would Encore every set-up move; better tread carefully when there is such a Pokemon in the opposing team. Otherwise, as proven in the ladder, it's a very solid team despite your losses to two of the Iron Chefs, and you gave Cyndequil credit where credit is due.

SCORE: 17 / 20
BONUS: 0
(won vs. Iron Chef Hogg; lost vs. Iron Chef Euphonos and Iron Chef NV)
TOTAL SCORE: 17

  • vs. Iron Chef Hogg - WIN
  • vs. Iron Chef Euphonos - LOSS
  • vs. Iron Chef NV - LOSS

Episode 9: #FlashbackFriday: Healing Factor [won by Manipulative]

At least two of the Pokemon in the team must contain the ability Regenerator.

Chef Manipulative, after seeing the secret ingredient, immediately brought up Assault Vest Reuniclus with Future Sight to the team. Then, he incorporated the concept to Volt Switch + U-turn as the pressure exerted from these moves would be of great help along with Reuniclus's Future Sight. From there, he selected Mienshao, Mega Beedrill, and Heliolisk, being the bearers of Volt Switch + U-turn, with the former's added Regenerator bonus. Finally, the last two slots were devoted to Pokemon who can compress roles very well, which ended up in Diancie and Gligar. Diancie offered the team a check to Fire and Dragon attacks, a Stealth rock setter, and a cleric with Heal Bell. Gligar, on the other hand, offered the team an immunity to Volt Switch + U-turn combo, a hazard remover through Defog, a check to multiple threats such as Cobalion, Toxicroak, and Mega Beedrill, and another contributor of VoltTurn. Iron Chef Euphonos selected this team to be a recipient for the Best-Tasting Dish as the VoltTurn concept along with the Regenerator core selection gave a modern twist to the more traditional Stall builds.

Reuniclus @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 144 HP / 112 SpA / 252 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Future Sight
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

Mienshao @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- High Jump Kick
- Stone Edge
- Knock Off

Beedrill-Mega @ Beedrillite
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Poison Jab
- Knock Off
- Protect
- U-turn

Heliolisk @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hyper Voice
- Grass Knot

Diancie @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Def / 16 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Heal Bell
- Stealth Rock

Gligar @ Eviolite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Defog

CREATIVITY: 3 / 5
This is one team where standard sets are again expected as knowing you from the previous episodes, but you managed to get out of the box and use Swords Dance Mienshao. While the rest of the team is standard fare (except for Assault Vest Reuniclus which is still uncommon), a decent score is given in this criterion.

USE OF INGREDIENT: 5 / 5
This is the team where you broke the boundary of building a decent Regenerator-related team, provided Regenerator cores are leaned towards Stall. You provided a fresh twist to the Regenerator cores by splashing VoltTurn into the team, and you managed to pull them off very well (which will also be reflective to the Effectiveness criterion as well!).

EFFECTIVENESS: 8 / 10
The team is very solid, but upon further examination lies one glaring flaw: your team doesn't have a prompt answer against Offensive Water Pokemon (such as Dragon Dance Gyarados and Rain Dance Mega Swampert). The defensive core of Diancie + Gligar made it extremely weak to those things; the only way that it could do is to exert pressure to prevent from setting up, which, knowing you, you could pull it off (or, you could use Choice Scarf on Heliolisk because it will outrun every offensive Water Pokemon, at the expense of power, though). This team is definitely worth a contender in the Overall Winner position, and you deserve it. Well done!

SCORE: 16 / 20

Lost to challenger xVarsity! HP Ice Zapdos proved to be too threatening to my team. GG.

EDIT: Challenger Nightingales had some serious trouble with Life Orb Galvantula, and my offense managed to break through despite an early game freeze and late game Thunder miss. GG.

The second challenger is Nightingales, who struggle for supremacy after xVarsity's dominant performance. However, her battle against Iron Chef Euphonos didn't manage to redeem herself from the two losses she got against Iron Chefs LilOu and Hogg. The battle exhibited hax on both sides, but ultimately, Iron Chef Euphonos managed to pull off a key critical hit to one of her Pokemon that sealed the game.

LESS THAN 24 HOURS REMAINING.

Those who are still yet to submit their dishes to the Chairman, you still have until that time limit to do so, and issue a challenge to any of the Iron Chefs.

Those who have submitted their teams but haven't issued a challenge to any of the Iron Chefs, please do so within this time frame.
I'm looking for you, malinowski, LotusHOV, and eaglehawk.

Lol, sorry for the double post.
