Was hoping for no Water-mons :( So this means I have to train an extra Cradily. Oh well, he shall be Gogmagog then.

Midsummer Lightyear - Mayday

Lyrics / Composing: Ashin
Performed by: 陈冰
Translation: Zt

(verse 1)

The destruction I'm proud of,
The banality I hate,
Reminded me which were the ones I love the most.

Let the midsummer frolic,
As the cruel future is banished,
Beyond the lightyears.

Now, let us

(chorus)

Abolish the rules,
Love without restraint,
Hold nothing back from ourselves,
And leave the future blank.

I won't turn back,
I won't turn aside,
I won't turn around,
I won't turn ever.

(verse 2)

Let the laws simplify
Let the order chaotify
These are the only youth times that I'd like

Let the midsummer frolic,
As the future is banished,
Beyond the lightyears.

Now let us

(chorus)

(bridge)

I desired, I raved, I wanted, I loved, and then,
I'll desire, I'll rave, I'll want, I'll love, but now,
A million MP3s,
And a million crazy lovers,
Can't diminish such an insignificant loneliness,

I desired, I raved, I wanted, I loved, and then,
I'll desire, I'll rave, I'll want, I'll love, but now,
When the midsummer's carnage,
Has reached beyond the lightyears,
Does growing up really means that our souls always rot?!

(chorus)

Alrighty then!

Matches are as follows;

1) Leethoof vs Dogfish44
Ref: Someoneelse

2) ZhengTann vs Dogfish44
Ref: Geodude6

IMPORTANT: The examiner will PM both refs in a single conversation, which will contain the examiner's team. When you have received the candidate's team, please respond as such in the PM. Once both teams are in, only then can you post threads.

ZhengTann and Leethoof, you have 1 week (That is, until this time on the 30th UTC) to send teams in - although we would rather have teams in as soon as is possible.

Leethoof got DQed.

Okay, a summing up of my thoughts with Frosty, for ZhengTann.

  • Aerodactyl was played poorly, and came out on it's worse matchup. Power Herb Sky Attack can be very powerful - but you were against slow Knock Off mons. Much better here would've been either Mega Aerodactyl spamming Fly & Sky Drop (Sky Drop in particular might've been enough to let Omastar in safely), or Tyrantrum, who could do Aero's job (Necturna handler), but would also be slow and heavy enough to not be mauled by Heavy Slam / Gyro Ball. I also didn't understand your subs round 1 - I was very close to having Necturna use Protect A1 to waste a Taunt.
  • Lunatone blindisded me - you played it well, and it was the main contributor to the two KOs you scored, thanks to Icy Wind and Pain Split. You might've been wise to use Blizzard over Ice Beam, as to ping Steelix, but then I'm not sure if you were overly worried by Wide Guard? Still, I'd have rather had Blizzard and a sub for Wide Guard than an Ice Beam with a P/E sub. To be honest, even though it caught me, I'm not sure if it should've came out so early, when I had an active ghost type and a benched Throh?
  • Cradily being switched in was appropriate - you needed Cradily in to prevent Lunatone being OHKOd before it could act (Although Luna could use Helping Hand regardless). That said, the biggest thing I don't understand is why you went for LO - at the time, I'd have argued that EBelt letting you Endure would've been stronger.
  • Tyrantrum should've been in earlier for my tastes - it handles all bar Steelix reasonably well, and Steelix doesn't actually do that much damage to it. The biggest thing I noticed was Draco Meteor - you had a more damaging Fire Fang, which also had Burn + Flinch chance. If you'd got either of those, then Azumarill would have to combo to KO Lunatone.
  • In general, ordering first I felt very little pressure. That's a big problem, because Rock Types are the masters of spamming Rock Slide and watching people cry - they're all about that first-order pressure. This resulted in your first orders feeling like you'd left gaping holes in then - no pressure gives me freedom to do evil things.
  • I note that you didn't use Omastar/Stratagem, both of whom are fast special attackers who can deal damage to Steelix (Itemless Stratagem's Fire Blast hits for 21.75, whilst Helix Fossil's Hydro Pump hits for 24). Both of these mons - especially if you supported them by disrupting Necturna - could've done a lot more work.

Okay, so there's a lot there. But I will also say that your second orders were usually effective, and Rock on a non-arena is generally going to suffer on a miraculous day.

Having talked with the resident Frosty, we've both agreed - we think you're good enough, and we think your mons are ready, but we also think you don't know what your rock types are capable of.

As such, we're going to say create an arena, get it approved from us, and then do a couple of practice matches. 2 or 3, just so you can get used to the mons you'll be using an awful lot in your future. After that you can Consider yourself the Rock Gym Leader and open your gym to distribute badges to the poors.

Go get 'em in Flying Leet - I will train a Bastiodon and name it after the Stratons (speaking of, what are SDS and akela's sigmons?). Also,
.... open your gym to distribute badges to the poors.
If that was my job, why can't we just start already? :(

EDIT: The line above is kind of a joke, in case people think of me as the kind of guy who only cracks mature jokes on IRC and is a totally serious person on forums.
