[OVERVIEW]

Victreebel's main niche in NU is being one of the best sun sweepers in the tier. With fantastic wallbreaking capabilities thanks to its very high Special Attack stat and great overall coverage with STAB moves in Solar Beam and Sludge Bomb, it's a staple on almost every sun team. It also has access to Weather Ball, a very strong Fire-type move in the sun that hits Pokemon that its STAB moves can't. What separates Victreebel from other sun sweepers like Exeggutor is that it can outspeed a large portion of Choice Scarf Pokemon under the sun without running a Timid nature, thus allowing it to have more power. However, Victreebel cannot function outside of sun due to its lackluster Speed and defenses, which leave it susceptible to common priority moves such as Bullet Punch, Fake Out, Ice Shard, and Sucker Punch.

[SET]
name: Chlorophyll Sweeper
move 1: Solar Beam

move 3: Weather Ball
move 4: Sleep Powder
item: Life Orb
ability: Chlorophyll
nature: Modest
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Solar Beam is Victreebel's preferred Grass-type STAB move, as it has no downside besides the fact that it must be used when sun is active. Sludge Bomb allows Victreebel to hit Fairy- and Fire-types that its other moves can't like Mega Audino, Clefairy, Charizard, and Ninetales. It's also the only move that Victreebel can use outside of sun. Weather Ball is Victreebel's coverage move, giving it a 100 Base Power Fire-type move when used under the sun that hits Steel- and Poison-types like Klinklang and Garbodor, which don't care about both of Victreebel's STAB moves. Lastly, Sleep Powder is used to put Pokemon to sleep and allow Victreebel to subsequently launch strong attacks or potentially get sun up again if it has faded. It also allows Victreebel to play around Sucker Punch users like Kangaskhan by shutting them down completely.

Set Details
========

Life Orb gives a nice boost to Victreebel's overall power and allows it to make full use of its great coverage by switching between its STAB moves and Weather Ball. Cholorophyll is the only viable ability, as Victreebel's only niche in NU is to be a sun sweeper, and if its ability isn't activated, it's borderline useless. A Modest nature gives Victreebel another boost to its power, allowing it to OHKO or 2HKO most foes. Running a Timid nature is an option to outspeed Choice Scarf Scyther and Pyroar, but it comes with a significant decrease in power and doesn't let Victreebel outspeed enough relevant Pokemon, so it's usually not recommended. Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment allows Victreebel to dish out as much damage as possible while also outspeeding most Pokemon under the sun.

Usage Tips
========

Setting up Sunny Day before bringing in Victreebel is crucial to its effectiveness as a sun sweeper. Try to utilize the five to eight turns that Sunny Day provides very efficiently with Victreebel, as every turn counts. Try to use Sleep Powder against Pokemon that Victreebel can't OHKO such as Garbodor, Skuntank, and Assault Vest Hariyama and Magmortar, as there's a good chance Victreebel will get KOed back if it can't OHKO the foe due to its generally low defenses.

Team Options
========

The most important teammates for Victreebel are Sunny Day setters such as Liepard, Mesprit, and Regirock. Entry hazard setters such as Regirock and Mesprit can provide Stealth Rock, which can break potential Focus Sashes and further increase the chances of pulling off a sweep with Victreebel; these two in particular can also set up Sunny Day. Mesprit in particular can provide a variety of support roles and the ability to weaken common switch-ins to Victreebel such as Hariyama, Weezing, and Garbodor. It also has the ability to bring in Victreebel safely with U-turn or heal it late-game with Healing Wish. Other sun sweepers and Fire-types such as Exeggutor, Shiftry, and Charizard can take advantage of the sun with their abilities or use boosted Fire-type STAB moves to break through Steel-types. Shiftry can easily lure and KO Skuntank, one of Victreebel's most reliable checks, with Explosion. Lastly, a fast, non-weather-dependent Pokemon such as Tauros, Archeops, or Choice Scarf Sawk allows the team to regain momentum in case sun fades away.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Giga Drain is usable over Solar Beam to help recover damage from Life Orb recoil and entry hazards. Knock Off and Sucker Punch are also viable options over a coverage move, as Knock Off removes the foe's item and Sucker Punch can provide priority for Victreebel. A fully physical set is an option considering it's backed by an impressive 105 Attack stat, but Victreebel lacks any good physical Poison-type STAB moves. A mixed set is also an option by running Power Whip to defeat the Pokemon Victreebel lures in like Hariyama. Encore, Growth, and Sunny Day are all options for the fourth slot. Encore can be used to disrupt Pokemon like Kangaskhan and Hariyama that want to stall sun out with Fake Out and KO Victreebel with other priority moves. Growth can allow Victreebel to double both of its attacking stats in the sun, though using this move is not recommended with Victreebel's frailty. Sunny Day can allow Victreebel to set up its own sun or support its teammates with it.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Specially defensive Pokemon such as Sliggoo and Assault Vest Hariyama and Magmortar can easily take on Victreebel due to their boosted Special Defense. Magmortar and Sliggoo in particular are immune to Sleep Powder due to their abilities, and Hariyama can stall out sun turns with the use of Fake Out as well. Musharna can also stall out Victreebel's sun with the use of Moonlight and Calm Mind.

**Poison-types**: Poison-type Pokemon such as Skuntank and Garbodor resist both of Victreebel's STAB moves and can OHKO it in return, though they should be wary of Sleep Powder so that they don't become severely crippled.

**Weather Setters**: Snow Warning users such as Abomasnow and Aurorus can immediately get rid of sun with their ability. Other Pokemon that can set weather such as Prankster Rain Dance Liepard can also stop Victreebel from sweeping.

**Strong Priority**: Strong priority moves like Sucker Punch, Fake Out, and Ice Shard from Pokemon such as Kangaskhan, Hariyama, and Abomasnow can easily wear down Victreebel.

You talk about Knock Off and Sucker Punch being selling points for Victreebel in the Overview, but they aren't mentioned until Other Options and these options are quite rare in the first place (like 20% of Victreebel use Sucker Punch and 5% use Knock Off). I would remove their mentions from the Overview and just emphasise in that section that STAB Sludge Bomb and a much stronger Fire-type attack are Victreebel's selling points over Exeggutor, not to mention its superior Speed that lets it beat faster Scarfers without having to use a Timid nature. Sludge Bomb in particular is good for breaking past Mega Audino and Clefairy, which can usually tank Sun attacks and paralyze their sweepers.

In Team Options, mention having a fast, non-weather dependent mon is handy in case Sunny Day runs out (like if they stall it out with Kangaskhan) and you need to regain some offensive momentum before switching to another setter. Scarf Sawk is pretty goodfor this, but just about any Choice Scarf user, or something like Archeops, would be fine.

In Other Options, when talking about a full physical set, also mention that Leaf Blade or Power Whip can be used on a special attacking set to lure Hariyama. 0 Atk Life Orb Victreebel Leaf Blade vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Hariyama: 199-234 (46.3 - 54.5%) -- 97.7% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock, while 0 Atk Life Orb Victreebel Power Whip vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Hariyama: 263-309 (61.3 - 72%). While you should probably be using Exeggutor or Charizard to deal with Hariyama, being able to actually lure it is nice and is one of the best uses of Victreebel's weird stat distribution. Mention that Encore also exists, and you can use it to lock down certain responses (such as Hariyama by locking it into Fake Out) and get free turns to set up Sun again or wallop something with Sludge Bomb.

In Checks and Counters, change Assault Vest Users to Specially Defensive Pokemon or something. Sliggoo can take on Victreebel just fine without an Assault Vest. Also make sure to mention that Poison-types really don't like taking Weather Ball in the Sun. Also, perhaps turn "Hail Users" into "Weather Changers" or something, as Prankster Liepard with Rain Dance can also stop Victreebel's sweep if you're facing a Rain team (this is small so it's optional). Also, in priority attacks, make sure to mention Ice Shard users like Abomasnow!!! and Piloswine, as they do a ton of damage.

Good job! QC 1/3

Implemented, thanks!

Overview

Don't bring up its attack stat as the set given only uses special moves. Don't directly mention the base stats too because they will already show up right above on the dex. Note that Sleep Powder lets it play around Sucker Punch mind games by completely shutting the Pokemon down.

Moves

Same thing as above note Sleep Powder messes with Sucker Punch dudes with the exception of Shiftry. Personally I'm not a fan of Growth so just deslash it and keep it as moves mention: Victreebel finds very little opportunities to set up Growth and the extra power is overkill a lot of time.

Team Options

Mention how Mesprit is particularly effective because it can weaken Hariyama, Weezing, and Garbodor, bring in Victreebel with U-turn or bring it back to full with Healing Wish.

Checks and Counters

Note that Magmortar and Sliggoo are very good checks thanks to their immunity to Sleep Powder with their respective abilities. Musharna should be added here because it can actually stall Victreebel out because of the Sun increasing the amount of HP Musharna recovers with Moonlight and in return it takes Victreebel out with Psychic or uses it to set up Calm Mind after sun is stalled out.

Just wanted to say that I completely agree with Growth not being slash worthy. The amount of time you actually get to sweep with Growth is usually so small that it's often better to just fire off an extra attack or Sleep Powder instead. Also, mention Ice Shard in the Overview too as Victreebel is actually weak to it.

Moves

Note that Sludge Bomb is the only move Victreebel can use when Sun is not present and also hits Fire-types such as Charizard, Ninetales, and Magmortar. Change the mention of Mega Audino to Fairy types since it also hits Clefairy. Give examples of Fire and Steel types when talking about Weather Ball.

Usage Tips

Victreebel's only viable set in NU is a sun sweeper,
This is really obvious information and doesn't tell me how to use the Pokemon. The usage tip should be direct and clear to the point and mainly about using Victreebel. Something like "setting up sun with a teammate before sending in Victreebel is crucial" sounds better imo.
Only use Weather Ball if Sunny Day is up, as if it's not up it doesn't have the same effects.
Ehhh... this is also pretty obvious, you're just talking about game mechanics here.
Try to use Sleep Powder against Pokemon that Victreebel can't OHKO, as there's a good chance Victreebel will get KO'd back if it can't OHKO the opponent due to its frailty.
Give examples here.
Take a look at whats up on the current dex pages usage tips or something else since this section seems a bit lacking.

Team Options

Mention that Shiftry can lure in Skuntank with Explosion, a very reliable check to Victreebel.
Fire types, as well as Sawk (which I disagree with removing, Scarf Sawk is a pretty solid cleaner for offense) which are common on Sun teams are also good teammates since they rip through Steel types which 100% wall Victreebel outside of sun, which is a useful asset.

C&C

Mention that Garbodor is heavily crippled by Sleep Powder and so is Skuntank, but it commnly runs Lum Berry to circumvent this.

  • Mention what Timid lets it outspeed (I can't think of what off the top of my head so check the NU Speed Tiers for this)
  • I don't think Sawk counts as a fast mon, I would mention things like Tauros here first
  • Mention Growth in OO since its still semi-viable and still better than niche choices such as fully physical
  • Also mention Sunny Day in OO since it can also set up its own sun and support its teammates / sweep on its own
Implement and QC 3/3

Giga Drain is usable over Solar Beam to help recover off damage from Life Orb recoil as well as chip damage from and hazards. Knock Off and Sucker Punch are also viable options over a coverage move, (AC) as Knock Off removes the foes foe's item and Sucker Punch can provide priority for Victreebel. A full fully physical set is an option when its considering it's backed by an impressive 105 attack Attack stat, but it Victreebel lacks any good Poison-type STAB moves. Going mixed Mixed ("going mixed" is technically correct. The best way to fix this would be to use "A mixed set") is also an option by running Power Whip to defeat the Pokemon Victreebel lures in and hit common switch-ins like Hariyama. Encore, Growth, and Sunny Day are [Remove Space] all options for the 4th fourth slot. Encore is can be used to lock disrupt Pokemon like Kangaskhan and Hariyama that want to stall sun out with Fake Out and KO Victreebel with other priority moves like Kangaskhan or Hariyama. [Using "like Kangaskhan or Hariyama" here implies that they are the priority moves.] Growth can allow Victreebel to double both of its attacking stats in the sun, but its usually hard to set up due to Victreebel's frailty so it's not recommended though using this move is not recommended with Victreebel's frailty. Sunny Day can allow Victreebel to set up its own sun up or support its teammates with it.

Musharna can also (no, "also" is right) stall out Victreebel's sun with the use of Moonlight and Calm Mind.

**Poison-types**: Poison-type Pokemon such as Skuntank and Garbodor resist both of Victreebel's STAB moves and can OHKO it (leave "it") back in return, though they should be wary of Sleep Powder so that they don't become severely crippled.

**Weather Setters**: Snow Warning users such as Abomasnow and Aurorus can immediately get rid of Sun sun with their ability. Other Pokemon that can set weather such as Prankster Rain Dance Liepard can also stop Victreebel from sweeping.

[OVERVIEW]

Victreebel's mainstay in NU is being one of the best sun sweepers in NU. With fantastic wall breaking capabilities due to its very high Special Attack stat and great overall coverage with STAB moves in Solar Beam and Sludge Bomb, its it's a staple on almost every sun team. It also has access to Weather Ball, a very strong Fire-type move in the sun that hits Pokemon that its STAB moves can't. What separates Victreebel from other sun sweepers such as like Exeggutor is that it can outspeed a large portion of Choice Scarfed Pokemon under the sun without running Timid nature, thus allowing it to have more power in its attack. Although it does it have this quality, Victreebel cannot function outside of sun due to its lackluster natural Speed and Defenses defenses. Due to these defenses, they leave Victreebel is left susceptible to common priority moves such as Bullet Punch, Fake Out, Ice Shard, and Sucker Punch.

Moves

Solarbeam Solar Beam is Victreebel's preferred hard hitting and spammable Grass-type STAB move, as it has no downside besides the fact that it must be used when Sunny Day is active. Sludge Bomb is its a Poison-type STAB move, allowing it to hit Fairy- and Fire-types which its other moves can't like Mega Audino, Clefairy, Charizard, and Ninetales. It's also the only move that Victreebel can use outside of sun. Weather Ball is used as Victreebel's coverage move, which combined with sun, gives it a 100 BP Base Power Fire-type move that hits Steel- and Poison-types such as like Klinklang and Garbodor,[AC] that which wall both of Victreebel's STAB moves. Lastly, Sleep Powder is used to put Pokemon to sleep and proceed to get a free turn to fire off strong attacks or potentially get Sun sun up again if it has faded. It also allows Victreebel to play around Sucker Punch users by shutting it them down completely. [This sentence doesn't make sense. When you used "it", you referred to Victreebel. Victeebel is shutting itself down? I changed "it" to "them", assuming you meant Victreebel shuts down the Sucker Punch users.]

Set Details
========

Life Orb gives a nice boost to Victreebel's overall power, while also allowing it to switch to one of its great coverage moves. [What coverage move? You didn't explain your reasoning here.] Cholorophyll is the obvious only viable ability, as Victreebel's only niche in NU is to be a sun sweeper, and if its ability isn't activated it's borderline useless. A Modest Nature nature gives Victreebel another boost to its power, allowing it to OHKO or 2HKO as many Pokemon as possible most foes. [Using "as many Pokemon as possible" here doesn't quite work. I worked it around a little.] Running a Timid Nature nature is in an option to outspeed the likes of Scarf Scyther and Pyroar, but it comes with a significant decrease in power and it doesn't outspeed enough relevant Pokemon, so it's usually not recommended. Maximum Special Attack and Speed investment allow Victreebel to dish out as much damage as possible while also outspeeding most Pokemon under the sun.

Usage Tips
========

Setting up Sunny Day before bringing in Victreebel is crucial to its effectiveness as a sun sweeper. Try to utilize the 5-8 turns that Sunny Day provides very efficiently with Victreebel, as every turn is crucial counts. Try to use Sleep Powder against Pokemon that Victreebel can't OHKO such as Garbodor, Skuntank, or Assault Vest Hariyama and Magmortar, as there's a good chance Victreebel will get KO'd KOed back if it can't OHKO the opponent due to its natural generally low defenses.

Lastly, a fast, non-weather-dependent (add second hyphen) Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Sawk, Tauros, or Archeops (probs move Sawk to the back for clarity if that's the only CS user; at least CS Tauros makes some sense in my mostly uninformed mind) allows the team to regain momentum in case sun fades away.

Other Options
=============

===================

**Strong Priority**: (colon) Strong priority moves like Sucker Punch, Fake Out, and Ice Shard from Pokemon such as Kangaskhan, Hariyama, and Abomasnow can easily wear down Victreebel.
implemented, thanks! this is done now
