[WIN] Raging Shore (Normal) - Eternal Drifter and ZhengTann

While you were resting into your cabins on the ship, some unexpected rumors coming from outside put you on guard. Not long after, you hear a sailor yelling "We're under attack! The Bright Hope is under attack!". As you rush out on the deck, you see Wallace holding off the assault of several enraged Pokemon.
"Good of you to have come!", he says with an alarmed tone. "We're in jeopardy! Several swarms of hostile Pokemon are surrounding the ship! I've never seen anything like...". He doesn't make in time to finish speaking that a frenzied Archeops is upon him. The champion stares in fear as the prehistoric bird is about to strike him, but then, just in time, a blast of blue energy takes out the foe.
"Wallace!", shouts Lorien, running towards the group. "Is everything ok?". As the champion nods, the mysterious man turns his attention on you. "Whoever leaded this assault is not an ordinary Trainer. You must find the head of this charge, and seize it before the enemy overcomes the ship's resistance!".

You nod in agreement and leap beyond the ship, skipping the enemy lines and landing on the shore. As you look around yourselves, though, a voice suddenly calls you.
"You're not going anywhere, New Dawn filth! The Plan must not be interrupted!".
You make just in time to avoid the foe as he pounces upon you. You take one moment to study the strange creature.

"Who are you?", you ask, on your guard. "Are you the one behind this attack?".
"I'm not here to answer your puny questions", the creature sharply replies. "We're on a strict timetable, and no one can be allowed to interfere!"

For the sake of the Plan, you and your meddlesome allies must die!

ZhengTann:
Elfman the Camerupt w/Cameruptite
Camerupt - Elfman (M)

"Hey mon," is probably Elfman's QOTD, all day, everyday. His easy-going attitude is reflective of his species' nature - slowly pacing on with the simple pleasures of daily life. Or so it seems. Elfman is as stubborn as they come - in fact, he got into a tussle with Natsu just because they wanted to cross the same (outer) side of the ledge. It took Gray's help to wrestle him down (a fact all but Gray is unhappy about) but Zheng's capture brought him into the family. Being slow to anger doesn't mean Elfman is slow on the uptake, but it does mean that he's slow to cooldown after he gets really riled up.

Having a family to be with changes Elfman - he is becoming more and more a stolid guardian than a laid-back jock. Steadfast to the point of tactless, he will not give way if he feels that his family is threatened. He is especially protective of Mirajane, and will often go out of his way to help her in any way perceived possible.

Being able to mega-evolve is something Elfman cherish. For one thing, he actually can take life at a slower pace because of that. For another, he punched harder, meaning he can force his opponents to dance for him, per se, but eventually they'll have to duke it out like "real mons" if they want to win.

Nature: Quiet (+1 SpAtk, -15% Speed, -10% evasion)

Type:
Fire type: Fire STAB; immune to burn status.

Ground type: Ground STAB; immune to Sandstorm. Ignores Arena restrictions on Dig and Seismic Attacks for Arenas in which any land mass exists, Evasive Digging reduced from 6 per action Energy Cost to 5 per action.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Magma Armour
Type: Passive
Elfman has a strong, heated armor that makes it incapable of being frozen. His armor also reduces the Base Attack Power of all incoming attacks by one (1).

Ability 2: Solid Rock
Type: Passive
Elfman’s solid body and durable constitution causes the Base Attack Power of incoming super-effective attacks to be reduced by two (2).

Ability 3: Anger Point (DW Unlocked)
Type: Passive
When struck with a critical hit, Elfman becomes enraged and its Attack rises to maximum (Stage 6). However, his Attack will drop up to two (2) stages at the end of each round instead of one (1) stage until it reaches the Pokemon's natural Attack stage. Critical hits from self-targeting moves do not activate Anger Point.

Ability 4: Sheer Force (Mega-Evo)
At default, Elfman energizes all his attacks with a secondary effect (These are damaging moves that either lower the target's stats, raise the user's stats, or inflict a status condition on the target). That way, the Base Attack Power of every move with a secondary effect increases by two (2), but they will never have their usual secondary effect. When toggled, no effect.

Laxus the Eelektross w/Expert Belt
Glyph of Flamethrower: Reduces the threat generated by Flamethrower by 50%
Laxus - Eelektross (M)

Misunderstood since he had memory about his gender and sexuality, Laxus often feels angry at the world. At capture, he felt that only Zheng was non-judgemental to him, and more important, his anger. Yet, he still often lashes out at the people he loved because he's angry with himself for being weak. And he tries to be stronger by projecting his will upon others. Erza and Mirajane are the two who'd stand up to his reckless tantrums, not allowing him to hurt himself or those around him.

Nature: Quiet (+ SpA, -15% Speed, -10% Evasion)

Type:
Electric type: Electric STAB; immune to paralysis status.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Levitate
Type: Passive
Laxus naturally floats above the earth when released, evading the Ground moves Bulldoze, Earthquake, Fissure, and Magnitude. Earth Power will have three (3) less Base Attack Power. Dig and Dive can strike a Levitating Pokemon if their user is over Size Class 4, has Levitate, is 3.5m or larger, or is a Flying-type. Otherwise Dig and Dive will miss. Ground moves can still hit.

(Pst. I think you have the wrong Syclant. I think Normal's supposed to be closer to 1350 HP. Wish us luck, and good luck with the Raid exam!)

I think angels already fear to tread here- Wait, does that mean we have to rush instead of waltz in? Also, in case it isn't obvious, I'd want the Sheer Force that goes +2 BAP on all my Camerupt's attacks.

"Time for a real fight, mon!"

"Bring it on, popsicle bug!"
Elfman (Camerupt w/ Cameruptite): [Mega-Evolve] Flamthrower > Fire Blast, both @ Syclant

Round 1:
Syclant, going at a lightning pace, slams Laxus with a powerful slam. Meanwhile, Goumon and Rakka set up by burning Syclant and setting up the sun, while Elfman, now mega evolved, takes the Syclant's attention with a powerful fire attack.

Once the setup is done, the team prepares to begin their assault. Syclant however, starts tearing into Elfman, shouting:

You are going to leave in pieces!

The Camerupt takes a surprising amount of damage, but that's nothing compared to the fiery assaults of the team. The flurry of fire attacks does significant, though not horrific, damage to the bug. The team is a long way away from defeating Syclant, but they have made good progress.

Posting tonight. Just a note though, due to a slight mistake on attack slates, I had Syclant instead use Pin Missile A2, so Camerupt gained some hp. Let me know if this changes anything.

Round 2:
With the sun shining behind their backs, the team unleashes a fiery assault against Syclant. It, in turn, continues to attack Camerupt, and the effects of the repeated attacks are starting to show. However, it seems to sense that the battle is not going in its favor, and quickly changes tactics.

It jumps back from the team, and suddenly starts spinning on itself in a whirlwind of claws!

Syclant: Spirits of Rage! Come to my aid!

As if that was not enough, a giant sea creature bursts out of the water, ready to strike at the team.

This is either going to be a "Let's Get Dangerous" moment, or an "Idiot Ball" moment.

"..... OY, WHAT ARE YOU FALLING ASLEEP FOR?!?!"
Elfman (Camerupt w/ Cameruptite): Rest > Chill
IF Elfman is NOT asleep A2 AND Gyarados did not use Bounce A2, THEN replace A2 with Ancient Power @ Gyarados instead.

Laxus (Eelektross w/ Expert Belt): Thunderbolt > Thunder Punch, both @ Gyarados
IF Gyarados would use Bounce, THEN replace that action with Thunder instead, pushing remaining queue back.

I hope this works.

Note to self: Get Taunt and Feint on Houndoom.

Houndoom:
Action 1: Will-O-Wisp (Gyarados)
Action 2: Mimic (Laxus: Thunderbolt)

IF Gyarados uses Bounce action 1, use Mimic (Laxus: Thunder) action 2 instead.

Delphox:
Action 1: Grass Knot (Gyarados)
Action 2: Role Play (Camerupt)

Round 3:
The team swiftly turns their attention to the Gyarados. Goumon starts by burning it, and then Rakka and Laxus strike at it. Camerupt, attempting to restore some health, tries to take a nap, but it and the rest of the team are disturbed by Syclant's icy whirlwind, while Gyarados nails Rakka with a powerful rocky attack.

Laxus's electric assaults soon grab the sea creature's attention though, and he rams Laxus with a powerful attack. Goumon and Rakka finish setting up while Camerupt recovers more HP. Unfortunately, the team is suffering serious damage from the whirlwind, and Gyarados is still standing.

Running a quick calculation... I think we wasted an action with Mimic. Still, as long as we don't waste many more...

Houndoom uses Fire Blast (13 Damage), Delphox Chills to be safe (since most other options would be to no benefit), Eelektross uses Thunderbolt (32 Damage), Gyarados falls (exactly 45 damage), Camerupt rests, and we go all out on the second action. A Heat Wave from Houndoom and a Fire Blast from Delphox both deal about 87.75 damage. Flamethrower from Eelektross and Heat Wave from Camerupt that action deal 85 damage, for a total of about 172 damage this round. Whirlwind won't activate again until we get into the 300's, I think, and this round should put the enemy at 592 HP remaining.

Note that we only get two more rounds of sun after this, which will cut into our firepower when it goes out.

Houndoom:
Action 1: Fire Blast (Gyarados)
Action 2: Flamethrower (Gyarados)

KO: IF Gyarados is KOed when you are to act, use Will-O-Wisp (Syclant) that action.

Delphox:
Action 1: Chill
Action 2: Fire Blast (Syclant)

"... -Hmm what, what did I miss, mon?"

"Nothing - just that you're being molested all over by that fox witch."
Elfman (Camerupt w/ Cameruptite): Chill > Heat Wave (Syclant)
IF Elfman is NOT asleep A1, THEN replace A1 with Ancient Power @ Gyarados instead.

Laxus (Eelektross w/ Expert Belt): Thunderbolt (Gyarados) > Flamethrower (Syclant)

Round 4:
Under the team's mighty blows, the Gyarados falls, but not before it lands a ferocious hit on Laxus. Syclant, seeing that his minion has fallen, springs out of the whirlwind to punch the sleeping Elfman. The force of the punch wakes up the Camerupt, and his teammates come together to launch fiery attacks at the enemy, one of which burns the Syclant again. The icy bug is still as tenacious as ever, and while the team is relatively healthy, Laxus is clearly starting to show signs of weariness.

(Syclant is Burned, not Gyarados, and Camerupt should no longer be resting)

Houndoom:
Action 1: Fire Blast (Syclant)
Action 2: Heat Wave

Delphox:
Action 1: Heat Wave
Action 2: Fire Blast (Syclant)

Let me see:
Houndoom Fire Blast: 47.25
Delphox Flamethrower: 38.25

Electross (Fire Punch): 29 Damage
Camerupt (Fire Blast): 52 Damage

Burn: 2 Damage

Action 1 Total: 168.5 Damage (Assuming no misses) (459/1350 (34%))

Houndoom Heat Wave: 45 (414 Left, 30 +2/3% Left, Whirlwind?)
Delphox Heat Wave: 40.5 (373.5 Left, 27 +2/3% Left, Whirlwind)

Electross (Flamethrower): 35 Damage (338.5 Left, 25%)
Camerupt (Heat Wave): 50 Damage (288.5 Left, 21%)

Burn: 2 Damage

We can get into Whirlwind this round, if we get lucky and you don't miss. Depending on when we get into whirlwind, though, determines how much damage we deal. Next round will be the last of the sun, and so I will want to extend Whirlwind just long enough to put the sun back up.

Maxim - sorry for being terribly late, but can I ask for the weekend? I kinda want ED to change his Flamethrowers to Heat Waves for that one extra BAP.

ED - given that in R2, Syclant let us shave all the way to 57% before Whirlwinding, I'd say we can shave down to 21% here and now. Eelektross is not going to last too long against Gyarados though, unless we juggle threat between Houndoom as well?

"Okay, this Syclant has been weirder than most others. What's with that whirlwind cocoon?"

"Maybe it doesn't want to be abused in its sleep."
Elfman (Camerupt w/ Cameruptite): Flamethrower > Heat Wave, both @ Syclant

Laxus (Eelektross w/ Expert Belt): Fire Punch > Flamethrower, both @ Syclant

Round 5:
Syclant quickly slices Camerupt with a sharp Stone Edge, but the team retaliates with a brutal torrent of flame. After firing some pins at Elfman, Syclant comes to the conclusion that its tactics are not working, and jumps back from the party, shouting:

Syclant: Spirits of Rage! Come to my aid!

Another ferocious Gyarados answers Syclant's call, and stares down the party. Worse, the team's sunlight seems close to vanishing.

(Ref Note: If the totals seem slightly different, it's because I fixed some issues with STAB energy and Solar Power in some of the previous rounds. Houndoom and Delphox got 2 energy, Camerupt got 1 energy, and Houndoom took 2 damage)

Syclant heals from burn!

Houndoom:
Action 1: Thunderbolt (Gyarados)
Action 2: Fire Blast (Gyarados)

Delphox:
Action 1: Will-O-Wisp (Gyarados)
Action 2: Grass Knot (Gyarados)

(Thunderbolt: 14.25)
(Will-O-Wisp: 2, Reduce Earthquake risk)

(Fire Blast: 13)
(Grass Knot: 11)
(Burn: 2)

Assuming no crits or misses on my end, I should deal about 42 damage this round. That should leave you with about 78 health to deal with. Due to the sun going out at the end of the round, I have a plan for my next round:

Plan said:
Houndoom:
Next Action 1: Thunderbolt (Gyarados) (14 Damage)
Next Action 2: Fire Blast (Syclant) (47 Damage)

Delphox:
Next Action 1: Sunny Day
Next Action 2: Fire Blast (Syclant) (38 Damage) (208 Health left)
So, in actuality, you have closer to 64 health to get through in three actions. Depending on whether or not you want Eelektross to gain threat, Thunderbolt deals 32 damage, so using that either Action 1 or 2 this round would go a long way towards finishing Gyarados off on schedule, with either Eelektross or Camerupt striking the finishing blow next round (ideally Eelektross, so Camerupt can possibly sneak in an additional hit on Syclant action 1).

Also, Whirlwind is going to do some damage to us:
Houndoom: 14 Damage
Delphox: 13.365 Damage (Due to one more action of Magma Armor)
Camerupt: 16 Damage
Eelektross: 21 Damage

Nothing we can do about it, but something to keep in mind.

If we were to round down every non-precedent damage:

- Thunderbolt deals 21 damage (4x SE and Solar Power)
- Houndoom grabs threat and gets targeted A1
- Thunderbolt deals 32 damage
- Ancient Power deals 15 damage
- WoW deals 2 damage (70 damage A1)

- Fire Blast does 13 damage
- Grass Knot does 10 damage
- Eelektross takes damage D:
- Thunder Punch deals 29 damage (122 damage total, KO-ing Gyarados)

Well, time to play another wild card...!

"You better not slink off for a nap this time."

"Couldn't sleep even if I wanted to now, mon."
Elfman (Camerupt w/ Cameruptite): Ancient Power > Ember, both @ Gyarados
IF Gyarados would use Bounce, THEN replace that action with Focus Energy instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Gyarados is KO'ed, THEN replace that action with Focus Energy instead.

Laxus (Eelektross w/ Expert Belt): Thunderbolt > Thunder Punch, both @ Gyarados
IF Gyarados would use Bounce, THEN replace that action with Thunder instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Gyarados has 27 HP or less left, THEN replace that action with Volt Switch instead.
