New Rules
[OVERVIEW]
Diancie is a very solid Mega right now due to its effectiveness as a mixed attacker. Not only does it boast a great offensive typing that allows it to deal with many relevant threats such as Charizard Y and Latios but it also possess a great ability in Magic Bounce which prevents status moves like Will-O-Wisp, Spore and Thunder Wave shutting down Diancie. It also has a great speed tier that outpaces a large portion of the meta. Additionally Diancie also has a great spread move in Diamond Storm that has great sweeping potential combined with the defense boosts provided. However after Mega evolution Diancie is very prone to intimidate. This is because the attack drop limits its offensive pressure. However this can be prevented before Mega Evolution with its ability Clear Body. A terrible speed tier before Mega Evolution combined with its poor defensive typing that offers many weaknesses often forces a protect turn 1. Due to Mega Diancie having to run maximum speed, it has fewer EVs to split between its attacking stats, causing both of them to fall slightly short of their potential. Diancie is also very frail considering its 50HP which often finds it hard to take non-resisted hits. Unfortunately Diancie also loses to currently the most popular Pokemon, Landorus, and its most popular set, choice scarf.

Moves
===========
Diamond storm is a powerful spread move which can easily threaten Fire-types and Flying-types such as Talonflame and Thundurus, as well as being able to boost its Defense stat for every pokemon it hits on the field, which helps it stay alive. This can make it more difficult to revenge kill. Even after 1 Defense boost Diancie is able to survive an Earthquake from Landorus-Therian. Moonblast threatens Dragon-types such as Hydreigon and Latios that normally wouldn't take as much as damage from Diamond Storm or Earth Power. It also hits fighting types for super effective damage, such as Keldeo and Scrafty. Earth Power allows Diancie to be able to beat Steel-types such as Heatran which it normally wouldn't do with Diamond Storm. It also helps it beat opposing rock types, such as other Diancie. Protect is a staple move in Doubles, allowing it to protect itself while your partner deals with the threat, to stall out field conditions, or to outspeed threats upon Mega Evolution, like Keldeo or Hydreigon.

Set Details
=============
Possessing Clear Body as its pre-mega ability allows Diancie to ignore Intimidate users such as Landorus-T and Gyarados, as well as the secondary effects from moves like Snarl and Icy Wind. 48 Special attack allows it to score a KO on Bisharp with Earth Power, 252 speed outspeeds Keldeo and Hydreigon and speed ties Latios, leftover EVs put in attack to deal as much damage as possible with its main move, Diamond Storm. Hasty is selected over Naive to allow Mega Diancie to survive an Earth Power from Heatran, Kyurem-B, or opposing Mega Diancie.

Usage Tips
==============
Mega Diancie can be used as a late game cleaner because of its offensive capabilities and its speed once all its checks are gone. Normally Diancie is forced to protect turn of lead to gain its speed advantage the next turn. Mega Diancie is also an effective lead to allow it to Mega Evolve so it can reflect status moves later on in the game. Mega Diancie should be using Diamond storm whenever possible unless Moonblast or Earth Power will do more as it allows it to gain defense boosts, damage the other target and punish switch-ins. Postponing Mega evolution can be helpful in some situations to able it to switch into Icy winds or Snarls later on in the game.

Team Options
================
Jirachi offers redirection with Follow Me and synergizes well with Diancie's weaknesses. It can also allow it to mega evolve with out using protect. Amoonguss is a different redirector with Rage Powder, which takes little damage from Azumarill, which in combination with Jirachi can give Diancie a bad time. However rage powder does not redirect grass type moves, which Diancie is weak to. Therefore Jirachi is usually preffered. Defiant and Competitive users, such as Bisharp and Milotic , have the ability to discourage Landorus or any Intimidate switch ins. Fire-types, like Heatran, Talonflame and Blaziken, are almost necessary parters due to their ability to threaten Grass types, like Ferrothorn, Amoonguss, and Steel-types, like Jirachi and Aegislash, which easily take hits from Diancie and can KO back with Stab attacks. Volcarona is also useful as it offers grass coverage to hit waters for super effective damage and outspeeds Landorus after one boost from Quiver Dance. Dark-types, such as Hydreigon, Hoopa and Darkrai, can also act as secondary checks to many common steels that threaten Diancie. Ice, and Water-type Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Kyurem-Black and Keldeo can deal with Landorus-Therian, which threatens Diancie and hinder it's sweeping potential with Intimidate. Grass, or Electric-types such as Ferrothorn, Serperior, Virizion, Rotom-Wash and Thundurus are good partners because they can beat bulky Water-types such as Suicune and Rotom-Wash, which would normally annoy Diancie due to its inability to deal sufficient damage and fearing a KO back.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS}
Other Options
==================
Diancie prefers keeping its coverage moves as it now can hit basically every threat. Substitute is an option to become extremely threatening and difficult to break, however that does drop a much needed coverage move. Always drop Moonblast or Earth Power as Diamond Storm is a crucial move on Diancie. Diancie can be run with Weakness Policy or Life Orb as an offensive Trick Room setter to take advantage of its low base 50 Speed. This set runs Trick Room / Diamond Storm / Moonblast / Protect, but is usually outclassed by many other Trick Room setters since it isn't immune to Taunt, Spore, or Fake Out - all common stops to setting Trick Room.

Checks and Counters
==================
**Typing Advantage**: Steel-types such as Jirachi, Aegislash and Mega Metagross and Water-types that are not weak to Diancie's vast coverage such as Suicune and Jellicent can be annoying to Mega Diancie as Diancie has trouble KOing them. Diancie also finds it hard to beat Grass types and often gets KOed back. Landorus-Therian can KO or deal a large amount of damage to Diancie with Earthquake, depending on how many defense boosts Diancie has.

**Speed Control**: When Mega Diancie does not have the advantage of going first due to Trick Room or an opposing Tailwind, its frailty is exacerbated due to having to take hits before it can attack. Due to this, it can struggle to perform as effectively as it normally would should the opponent set some form of speed control.

**Speed**: Choice Scarf users such as Kyurem-Black Landorus-Therian and Genesect have teh ability to outspeed and KO Diancie. Deoxys- Attack also has the ability to outspeed Diancie and Ko with its stab attack, Psycho Boost. Mega Aerodactyl also outspeeds and KOes with Aqua Tail if no defense boosts are present.

**Intimidate**: After Mega evolution, Intimidate users such as Landorus-T and Scrafty can annoy Mega Diancie by lowering its Attack.

Overview
  • dont say stuff like "the best mega evolution right now" because that could easily change over time. it would be appropriate, however, to say that it is pretty darn good.
Moves
  • mention the fact that diamond storm's defense boosts stack for both opponents hit on the field. at a cool 50% chance to boost its defense stat for each opponent being hit, it becomes somewhat difficult to revenge kill it.
  • for example, after just one defense boost, diancie can survive an earthquake from landorus (252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. +1 0 HP / 0- Def Mega Diancie: 200-236 (82.9 - 97.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO)
  • this makes it a very spammable move and therefore diancie's main stab attack.
  • moonblast is needed for coverage against fighting types also, most notably keldeo and scrafty
  • make emphasis that protect is needed on diancie in order to allow it to grab the mega speed boost safely
Set Details
  • diancie can ohko keldeo with 0 spatk investment. 48 spa is only to secure the ohko on bisharp with earth power.
  • hasty is nice to use on diancie over naive not only because the defense boosts make up for it, but it also lets it lets diancie live a heatran's earth power
  • its not the best advice to say that nonmega diancie is good against icy wind, as a lot of icy wind users kill diancie anyway. see: jirachi, politoed, milotic.
Usage Tips
  • i wouldnt stay nonmega just because someone has an intimidator either. most intimidators (landorus & gyarados) would just outspeed and do a big damage on it. the way to beat intimidators with diancie is to threaten them with a teammate, but save this for team options.
  • staying nonmega against trick room makes sense i guess, but since you arent going to be outspeeding most trick room attackers, say that this is so you can retain diancie's greater bulk when not mega.
  • u already said this point about thunder wave and taunt in the overview. besides, no one is going to use thunder wave or taunt against a diancie.
Team Options
  • fire types (talonflame, blaziken, heatran) should almost always be paired with diancie, as they are the pokemon that most concisely deal with steel types that diancie cannot handle well, such as jirachi and aegislash. they also beat grass types like ferrothorn and amoonguss. that being said, when talking about killing steel types, reword it to reflect this.
  • fighting types arent instrumental to checking steels because diancie already has heatran and bisharp covered, and diancie being both ground weak and conflicting with some of landorus's roles (thundurus check, kangaskhan check) doesnt make it a go-to partner. basically, just remove fighting types and ground types from partners that beat steels and emphasize fire types
  • dark types like hydreigon, darkrai, hoopa-u, are also great for functioning as secondary checks to the aforementioned steels.
  • add more examples here for landorus checks. also, kyurem doesnt have to be scarfed in order to be a landorus check. include bisharp and milotic for their defiant and competitive abilities, which discourages landorus from switching in.
  • give more examples of mons that beat bulky water types. serperior, virizion, and rotom-w could all be added.
Checks & Counters
  • aegislash is another prominent steel type that diancie struggles with and should be mentioned.
  • pretty much any water type can check diancie as long as it isnt weak to diancie's coverage, like how keldeo is weak to moonblast. that being said, rotom-w and azumarill could be added here.
  • grass types also deserve a mention here: serperior, amoonguss, virizion, and breloom all threaten diancie greatly with their stabs.
  • landorus-therian should also be noted in typing advantage for its ability to either ohko or do massive damage depending on how many defense boosts diancie has accrued
  • make a new tag called **Speed Control**. in this tag, you should mention tailwind and trick room, they do not belong in speed.
  • in **Speed**, include deoxys-a for its ability to outspeed and ohko it with its stab.

once you implement this, its
1/3

Yay first analysis! Overall pretty good work, but you're missing a few details that really help flesh out the analysis.

Overview:
  • Since many Thundurus these days are offensive with Flash Cannon, you probably shouldn't list it in "relevant threats Mega Diancie beats". Change to Mega Charizard Y.
  • Its speed tier pre-Mega Evolving isn't awkward - it's terrible. Hitting 218 max means any Washtom that are even slightly invested in speed will move first.
  • "Can fall short on some koes and be KOd back due to mixed ev spread" is a little bit awkward and I'm not sure I know what you're saying - try "Due to Mega Diancie having to run maximum speed, it has fewer EVs to split between its attacking stats, causing both of them to fall slightly short of their potential" if that's what you mean.
  • "Very frail" is overstating it slightly - after a couple defense boosts Mega Diancie can actually be somewhat difficult to break. Just remove the word "very" and I think you're good though.
  • Point out that it loses to the most common Pokemon/set in the tier - that's overview worthy imo (in case there's any confusion - I'm talking about Choice Scarf Landorus-T)
  • Having access to Diamond Storm is also something that really makes Diancie stand out - a high powered, STAB, spread move with a 50% chance to raise one of Mega Diancie's lower stats is a huge boon to its viability. Point out why and how Diamond Storm helps it wherever you think works best.

Set:
  • Don't forget the [SET] tag above the set itself
  • Moonblast should be the second move, swap it with Earth Power

Moves:
  • Capitalize "Earthquake" when you're talking about the Defense boosts.
  • Swap the bullet points of Moonblast and Earth Power to reflect the above change
  • Point out that Moonblast is a secondary STAB option, and also swap Latios mention with Keldeo - Latios takes more than half from a Diamond Storm
  • Earth Power is primarily for Steels, but also for Rock-types like opposing Mega Diancie.

Set Details:
  • You don't need to specify what Diancite does - it's presumed to be common knowledge, so remove that bullet point.
  • That second bullet point is a rather incomplete sentence. Try this: "Possessing Clear Body as its pre-mega ability allows Diancie to ignore Intimidate users such as Landorus-T and Gyarados, as well as the secondary effects from moves like Snarl and Icy Wind."
  • Capitalize "Earth Power", and instead of saying that max speed allows it to speed tie with Latios, say that it "at least speed ties with all base 110 Pokemon, including Latios". Also, capitalize "Attack" when you're talking about the stat.
  • Dumping into Attack doesn't allow Mega Diancie to "gain maximum damage" with Diamond Storm, I'd say it allows Mega Diancie to "deal as much damage as possible with its main move, Diamond Storm"
  • The boosts you discuss in the last bullet point aren't *on* Diamond Storm, they're *from* Diamond Storm
  • The second sentence on the last bullet point should read something like this: "Hasty is also chosen over Naive to allow Mega Diancie to survive an Earth Power from Heatran, Kyurem-B, or opposing Mega Diancie"
  • 56 Atk / 200 SpA / 252 Spe with a Hasty Nature is an alternate spread that allows Mega Diancie to always 2HKO Mega Kangaskhan with Moonblast, as well as guaranteeing the Moonblast OHKO on Latios, at the cost of some power behind Diamond Storm.

Usage Tips:
  • Mega Diancie isn't always used as a lead, so instead of saying that it's forced to use Protect Turn 1, say that it's forced to use Protect its first turn on the field. However, point out that Mega Diancie works well as a lead because it can get the Mega Evolution off early and become a switch in to status moves for later in the game.
  • Talk about Diamond Storm boosts here - if Mega Diancie is going to outspeed and OHKO a threat with either Diamond Storm or Moonblast, it should use Diamond Storm for the damage on the other threat still on the field as well as the possibility of Defense boosts. Basically, Mega Diancie should be using Diamond Storm unless it needs Moonblast or Earth Power for a specific threat or to get around Wide Guard.
  • Since Mega Diancie has Clear Body pre-Mega, you may choose to postpone Mega Evolution to avoid Intimidate or Snarl/Icy Wind drops later in the game if Mega Diancie isn't needed early-game.

Team Options:
  • Jirachi can also allow Mega Diancie to Mega Evolve without needing to click Protect.
  • Point out that Amoonguss can't redirect Grass-type attackers, which Mega Diancie is weak to, and that's why Jirachi is commonly chosen over Amoonguss.
  • Capitalize "Competitive" and switch the Bisharp and Milotic mentions to correlate with the order that their abilities are mentioned. Also, it doesn't just discourage Lando-T switchins but any Intimidate switch-in (maybe Gyarados is worth talking about?)
  • Include Volcarona in the list of Fire-types you have, especially since with Giga Drain it can beat many Water-types too, and outspeeds Scarf Lando-T after one boost.
  • "Pokemon" not "Pokemons" when you're talking about Ice- and Water-types. Also, no comma after "Ice-", and capitalize Intimidate.
  • Similarly, no comma after "Grass-"
  • Replace the Jellicent mention with Rotom-W, since it's much more common. Also, bulky Waters don't just annoy Mega Diancie, they threaten it

Other Options:
  • Specify that Sub would be run over either Earth Power or Moonblast, never Diamond Storm.
  • Diancie can be run with Weakness Policy or Life Orb as an offensive Trick Room setter to take advantage of its low base 50 Speed. This set runs Trick Room / Diamond Storm / Moonblast / Protect, but is usually outclassed by many other Trick Room setters since it isn't immune to Taunt, Spore, or Fake Out - all common stops to setting Trick Room.

Checks and Counters:
  • Capitalize Water-types (sorry about all this capitalization stuff, GP would definitely catch it, it just bugs me)
  • "KOed", not "Ko'ed" when you're talking about Grass-types
  • Landorus-T sentence needs *KO and *Earthquake
  • Your speed control sentence is slightly misleading - try this if you like it: "When Mega Diancie does not have the advantage of going first due to Trick Room or an opposing Tailwind, its frailty is exacerbated due to having to take hits before it can attack. Due to this, it can struggle to perform as effectively as it normally would should the opponent set some form of speed control."
  • Scarfers should also include Genesect, and it's a little more drastic "annoying to deal with", they outspeed and OHKO. Also, Mega Aerodactyl should be mentioned in the sentence about Deo-A since it has access to Aqua Tail. (*KO with Psycho Boost)
  • "Attack" should be capitalized in the point about Intimidate.

This is a lot, so to be certain, I'm going to ask you to tag me before you start writing so that I can give everything one last look over before giving out 2/3.
