[OVERVIEW]
Kecleon holds its place in the NU tier as a reliable wallbreaker thanks to its spectacular coverage and movepool, along with its ability, Protean. These traits allow it to break past many common Normal-type checks, making Kecleon a great addition to Normal spam archetypes. Kecleon also sports the fourth strongest Sucker Punch in NU, which lets it deal with fast offensive Pokemon such as Manectric. However, Kecleon's abysmal Speed requires it to invest heavily in the stat simply to outspeed walls and forces it to rely on an only partially invested Sucker Punch to damage anything faster, making it nearly useless against faster teams. Kecleon also has subpar bulk, which makes opportunities to switch Kecleon in extremely rare, as even moderately powerful neutral attacks will leave a dent in it.

Moves
========
Fire Blast is Kecleon's strongest coverage move, allowing it to OHKO many defensive Pokemon, such as Steelix, Gourgeist, and Vileplume after Stealth Rock damage, and 2HKO bulky Poison-types like Garbodor and Weezing. Sucker Punch is a very strong priority move that aids Kecleon in deterring faster, frailer Pokemon that might attempt to revenge kill Kecleon. Iron Tail is a strong coverage move that allows Kecleon to break past Mega Audino, making Kecleon one of the best offensive checks to it. It also gives Kecleon a Steel typing, which has temporary defensive benefits. Knock Off is a reliable and spammable move providing Kecleon with the excellent utility of removing items such as Eviolite and Leftovers. Knock Off also hits Musharna and Lanturn hard, both of which might otherwise attempt to pivot into some of Kecleon's other attacks. Grass Knot allows Kecleon to beat Quagsire, Regirock, and Rhydon and also ensures that Omastar and Barbarcle are not able to set up on Kecleon. Stealth Rock is a great utility move that Kecleon can easily make use of due to the fact that it forces so many switches thanks to its raw power and coverage. Shadow Sneak is a priority move that allows Kecleon to act as a last ditch spinblocker, though Kecleon is unable to switch into Rapid Spin.
Set Details

116 Speed EVs allow Kecleon to outspeed Gourgeist-XL and not get burned by Will-O-Wisp. 200 EVs in Special Attack with a Life Orb and a Mild nature is enough to let Kecleon OHKO some switch-ins, such as Gourgeist-XL, Steelix, and Vileplume after Stealth Rock damage. The remaining 192 EVs are dumped into Attack, powering up physical moves immensely and allowing Sucker Punch to have a 75% chance to OHKO Swellow after Stealth Rock damage, as well as a good chance to 2HKO Mega Audino with Iron Tail.
Usage Tips
========
Kecleon is decently powerful and able to break down common defensive cores with its range of physical and special attacks. When facing offensive teams, Kecleon should be used more aggressively, predicting threats like Hariyama and using the appropriate coverage move. Due to its low Speed, Kecleon will mostly be using Sucker Punch to dole out damage to these teams. When facing balanced, slower teams, Kecleon needn't predict such threats, as these balance teams tend to carry slower Pokemon such as Mega Audino, Gourgeist, and Vileplume, all of which are outsped and dealt with by Kecleon. Kecleon can utilize Protean's ability to effectively create mind games, such as using Dark-type attacks on Psychic-type Pokemon in order to evade their STAB moves and clicking Fire Blast on Gourgeist-XL to avoid being burnt by Will-O-Wisp. Kecleon's physical frailty means that it should only be switched in on weaker special attacks, pivoted in via a slow VoltTurn, or brought in on a double switch. Kecleon's reliance on priority to hit anything faster means fast status users, such as Rotom and Mismagius, are able to avoid Sucker Punch and cripple Kecleon with Will-O-Wisp.
Team Options
========
Pokemon that appreciate defensive staples such as Audino and Steelix being severely weakened by Kecleon's various coverage options, such as Tauros, Archeops, Kangaskhan, and Swellow, make for good partners. Pokemon with access to speed control are also viable partners, as they are able to mitigate Kecleon's horrendous Speed stat, allowing Kecleon to fare much better against offensive teams, albeit only for a few turns. Slow Baton Pass and VoltTurn users are also great options to get Kecleon into battle, as they can bring Kecleon in after the opponent attacks so that Kecleon does not take damage; some Pokemon that can do this well are Pelipper and Lanturn. Hazard-stacking cores such as Garbodor + Steelix make for excellent partners because of the extra damage accumulated by the entry hazards they set, helping Kecleon assure KOs on certain targets such as Vileplume and Steelix. Omastar also makes for a great partner, as it has access to three entry hazards, and checks common threats to Kecleon, such as Archeops, Kangaskhan, physical Charizard, and Tauros. Mesprit and Audino are able to significantly slow down threats with Thunder Wave, and the former is able to support Kecleon with Healing Wish, should Kecleon acquire too much Life Orb recoil, and Stealth Rock so Kecleon can nab the KO on Vileplume, Steelix, and Swellow after Stealth Rock damage.

Other Options
=============
An Assault Vest and Power-Up Punch set with Knock Off, Sucker Punch, and Drain Punch is able to turn Kecleon into a bulky sweeper; this set also provides a good pivot into the likes of Magmortar and Charizard, but most physically defensive Pokemon are able to handle this set with relative ease, such as Garbodor. Another possible set would be a Life Orb set with Fake Out, Drain Punch, Shadow Sneak, and Sucker Punch, which is difficult for offensive teams to deal with. However, physically bulky Pokemon, such as Vileplume and Pelipper, can wall Kecleon; even Steelix and Rhydon can wall it despite Drain Punch being super effective. A Facade set is able to take advantage of burn and paralysis, both of which are commonly inflicted upon Kecleon, in order to give Kecleon a 140 Base Power attack that is able to dent many Pokemon. Kecleon's priority has the ability to threaten a variety of Pokemon out, allowing it to use Substitute on predicted switches. This allows it to avoid being revenge killed easily and can help prevent it from being hit with status. Kecleon has a colorful movepool but the coverage isn't usually worth it, since it doesn't provide much more than the main set. Thunder Punch and Rock Slide are the two most notable ones, being able to hit Pelipper and Charizard, respectively. Kecleon also has a decent support movepool with moves like Recover and Magic Coat, although Kecleon's low Speed and type changing can be easily exploited when not attacking, exposing it to Fighting- and Dark-type coverage specifically.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Physical Attackers**: Physical Pokemon such as Tauros, Hitmonchan, Malamar, and Zangoose can outspeed Kecleon and are able to take advantage of Kecleon's flawed Defense stat. Kecleon is also scared of faster priority moves such Sucker Punch, Ice Shard, and Fake Out, which can be seen on a multitude of Pokemon, such as Skuntank, Kangaskhan, and Abomasnow. Hitmonchan, Skuntank, Shiftry, and physical Combusken have an easier time against Kecleon, as they do not fear Sucker Punch.
**Mixed Defensive Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Hariyama, Musharna, Mantine, and Pelipper are all able to pivot in on Kecleon and force it to take Life Orb damage while they proceed to OHKO it or heal up and then KO Kecleon due to their good natural bulk. Musharna is able to take advantage of Kecleon that lack Knock Off by freely setting up Calm Mind and shrugging off the damage it takes with Moonlight, while Barrier variants are also able to beat Kecleon one-on-one. Mantine and Pelipper are able to come in on anything but Knock Off, and they can scare out Kecleon with the prospect of Scald burns, halving its Attack, and wearing it down extremely quickly. Bulky Charizard only fears the occasional Rock Slide, can Roost off damage from all of Kecleon's attacks, and can proceed to burn Kecleon with Will-O-Wisp or attack with a fast Acrobatics.
