Togetic [QC 3/3] [GP 2/2]

QC: DTC, EonX, Spirit

GP: piikachuu, P Squared

[OVERVIEW]

Togetic is generally used as a bulky Fairy- and Flying-type, as it sports high defensive stats aside from having a decent Special Attack. Its defensive typing allows it to check Fighting-types such as Hitmonlee and Medicham, Dark-types such as Scrafty, Spiritomb, and Malamar, and Dragon-types like Flygon. Togetic is a nice defensive pivot, as it has access to moves such as Roost and Baton Pass and can also act as a cleric with Heal Bell. It is able to easily switch in on Flygon and prevent it from doing anything, making it the best answer for it in the tier. Eviolite further enhances its Defense and Special Defense; however, it makes Togetic severely crippled by Knock Off, which is troublesome because many of the Pokemon Togetic switches into utilize Knock Off. Furthermore, Togetic's typing leaves it vulnerable to common offensive types such as Steel-types like Magneton, Rock-types like Aerodactyl, and Rhyperior, Electric-types like Jolteon, and Ice-types like Sneasel and Mega Glalie, as well as leaving Togetic weak to Stealth Rock.

Moves
========

Nasty Plot works well with Baton Pass for passing Special Attack, though it can also be used to power up Togetic's own Dazzling Gleam or Fire Blast. Baton Pass can be used to switch to another teammate with or without boosts in order to gain momentum, and it also allows Togetic to act as a pivot. Dazzling Gleam acts as Togetic's STAB move and hits Dark- and Fighting-types super effectively, while Fire Blast can be used alternatively to hit Steel-types like Magneton, Registeel, and Escavalier super effectively. Finally, Roost allows for Togetic to maintain longevity and heal off damage taken.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP and Defense EVs are extremely important to maximize bulk and let Togetic check physical attackers whose attacks it resists such as Scrafty, Hitmonlee, Medicham, and Spiritomb. The rest of the EVs are invested in Special Defense for increased bulk. An Eviolite increases Togetic's bulk as well. Super Luck is the preferred ability, as it increases the rate of critical hits; however, Serene Grace should be used on Fire Blast variants, as it increases the chance of a burn. A Bold nature is used to increase Togetic's bulk, and the Speed IVs are reduced to 30 for a slower Baton Pass against base 40s like Rhyperior, invested Slowking, and invested Spiritomb.

Usage Tips
========

Try to get rid Stealth Rock before switching Togetic in, as it takes 25 percent upon switching in. Aim to switch into moves that it resists and weak coverage moves that hit it neutrally to maintain health, as you need Togetic throughout the battle to check many threats. Togetic can take Dark-type moves, but be wary not to switch it into Knock Off, as it significantly reduces Togetic's bulk. It is not recommended to switch into status moves, as you need Togetic to check Pokemon and remain healthy. Do not pass Nasty Plot boosts until special walls, such as Diancie and Registeel, are weakened or fainted.

Team Options
========

Special attackers that appreciate a Special Attack boost such as Delphox, Meloetta, and Accelgor can be great partners for Togetic. Flygon especially is a beneficial partner, as offensive Defog variants run special moves, meaning that Flygon can take advantage of the Nasty Plot boosts Togetic can pass to pressure common special walls, such as Diancie and Registeel, with a +2 Life Orb-boosted Earth Power. Hazard removers such as Blastoise and Flygon are needed to get rid of Stealth Rock, as hazards pressure Togetic. Strong physical attackers that can take on specially defensive walls like Diancie and Registeel are of the utmost importance, as they allow special attackers to eventually clean up with a Nasty Plot boost. Pokemon that can hit Steel-types like Magneton and Escavalier super effectively help Togetic spam its STAB moves more freely. Examples of these Pokemon include Emboar and Houndoom.

Moves
========

Roost is a primary move on Togetic used to maintain longevity and let it act as a consistent check to Fighting- and Dark-types. Thunder Wave can be used to cripple faster Pokemon such as Medicham and Hitmonlee and helps Togetic check Pokemon that try to set up on it. Dazzling Gleam works as Togetic's STAB move and hits Dark- and Fighting-types super effectively. Heal Bell allows Togetic to act as a cleric, while Baton Pass can be used to pivot to other Pokemon when predicting a switch and for momentum.

Set Details
========

252 HP and 252 Defense EVs maximize Togetic's bulk and allow Togetic to check Pokemon such as Scrafty, Hitmonlee, Medicham, and Spiritomb. A Bold nature assists in increasing Togetic's bulk, while the remaining EVs are invested in Special Defense for additional bulk. Furthermore, an Eviolite is used to increase Togetic's defensive stats. Super Luck increases the chance to land critical hits.

Usage Tips
========

This Togetic set is most effective when used on semi-stall or balance builds. Try to remove hazards before switching in Togetic due to its weakness to them. Aim to switch into resisted moves or weak coverage moves, as Togetic is needed throughout the battle to act as a check to a variety of threats. Be wary of Knock Off because many of the Pokemon Togetic checks, such as Hitmonlee and Gurdurr, carry this move. Be cautious of status ailments on non-Heal Bell variants because Togetic relies on its bulk and poison or burn can be very crippling.

Team Options
========

Hazard removers such as Flygon and Blastoise are generally appreciated to mitigate Togetic's weakness to Stealth Rock. Strong physical attackers that take on specially defensive walls, such as Medicham, Sneasel, and Mega Glalie, are great partners alongside Togetic. Pokemon that get rid of Steel-types, such as Emboar and Virizion, are great partners for Togetic and allow it to freely use Dazzling Gleam. Pokemon crippled by status, such as Alomomola and Venusaur, work very well with Togetic thanks to its Heal Bell support. Pokemon that can switch in to absorb Knock Off are needed, as Togetic relies heavily on its item.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
=============

Defog is a possibility, although due to Togetic's weakness to Stealth Rock, it's not recommended, as Flygon and Blastoise are superior methods of hazard removal. Wish + Protect can be used, although Alomomola and Aromatisse are generally preferred as Wish passers due to their greater HP. A specially defensive variant can be used to check Houndoom, Delphox, and Meloetta, although it is a relatively weak check and physically defensive variants check more foes. An offensive set with Nasty Plot, Fire Blast, Dazzling Gleam and Roost can be used; however, it often lacks the power and Speed to clean up late game. Encore can be used on the support set to stop Pokemon that use Togetic as setup bait.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Residual Damage**: Stealth Rock takes 25 percent from Togetic's HP each time it switches in and therefore limits its longevity. Status ailments can be a problem because of how Togetic is consistently needed as a check, and non-Heal Bell variants should be wary of this.

**Knock Off and Trick**: Knock Off can limit Togetic's longevity by a lot, as Togetic relies on Eviolite for bulk. Trick users like Medicham and Delphox should be played around with caution because Choice items will severely cripple Togetic.

**Taunt Users**: Taunt users like Jellicent can severely cripple Togetic, as its only attacking moves are Dazzling Gleam and Fire Blast.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Strong special attackers like Hoopa, Mega Camerupt, and Venusaur threaten Togetic a lot, and it should not be switched in on these Pokemon. Mega Camerupt is particularly dangerous due to its immunity to Thunder Wave and resistances to Dazzling Gleam and Fire Blast. It can heavily damage the Baton Pass set before Togetic is able to use Baton Pass, or it can use Toxic it if predicts Togetic to hard switch.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types can wall and severely damage Togetic with their STAB moves. Magneton in particular isn't vulnerable to Toxic and Thunder Wave. However, Steel-types are vulnerable to a +2 Fire Blast; therefore, Magneton should be the only Steel-type blindly switched into it if you suspect Togetic to use Baton Pass and Nasty Plot, unless Dazzling Gleam has been revealed. Flygon and Scrafty can lure Togetic in and suprise it with their Steel-type coverage.

**Rock-types**: Rock-types such as Rhyperior and Aerodactyl are threatening to Togetic, and it should not stay in on these Pokemon due to their hard-hitting STAB moves. Furthermore, Rhyperior is not vulnerable to Thunder Wave.

**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Jolteon and Manectric can hit Togetic with super effective Electric-type STAB moves. Electric-types are also not vulnerable to Thunder Wave and can take advantage of it through Lightning Rod and Volt Absorb.

**Poison-types**: Pokemon like Drapion and Venusaur should be feared because of their Poison-type STAB moves, which hit Togetic super effectively. However, Venusaur fears Thunder Wave, as it needs its Speed to work efficiently, and Drapion can be worn down by Dazzling Gleam.

**Ice-types**: Togetic should not stay in on Sneasel and Mega Glalie because of its weakness to their Ice-type STAB moves. However, in dire situations, Togetic can stay in on Sneasel and hit it with Dazzling Gleam, as it survives one Icicle Crash.

"Special defense and physical defense are greatly enhanced with eviolite, however it makes it severely prone to knock off" - add, ", which is troublesome because many of the Pokemon Togetic switches into utilize Knock Off."

serene grace should be the ability when togetic is using fire blast for more burns, so slash serene grace after super luck on the first set.

"Should not be used as a Knock Off switch in as is heavily reliant on eviolite" - i don't like this usage tip that much because hitmonlee, scrafty and gurdurr can easily knock off togetic on the switch, and togetic is a nice answer to these mons. just say be weary of knock off

in c&c mention mega steelix isn't vulernable to twave/toxic

when you mention electric-types and rhyperior in c&c, mention they aren't vulnerable to thunder wave

this looks pretty good otherwise, but the grammar could use a lot of work. look over the analysis again to fix some of the basic grammar errors, and GP will help out later with this too. QC 1/3

I added the suggestions and fixed most of the grammar [Capitalized the Pokemon names, move names, stats (ex: Special Defense), fixed type names (ice types to Ice-types) and changed a few of the awkwardly words sentences]

Thanks for the qc

[Overview]

- Stress how easily it comes in on Flygon and keeps it from doing much offensively. Togetic is, bar none, the best answer to Flygon in the tier regardless of the set

[NastyPass]

- Maybe change it to Nasty Plot + Baton Pass? It's easy for veteran players to know what NastyPass means right off the bat, but newer players probably won't. Up to you on this one tho
- Mention reducing Speed IVs to 30 for a slower Baton Pass vs stuff like Spiritomb, Rhyperior, and invested Slowkings.
- Make special note of Flygon in team options. Offensive Defog variants run special moves and can pressure the most common special walls with +2 Life Orb Earth Powers.

[Pivot / Support]

- I would just name it Support. It's not always going to have Baton Pass and it'll always have T-Wave at least.

[Other Options]

- Note that Togetic's low HP makes it an even less desirable Wish user than Aromatisse

[Checks and Counters]

- Mega Camerupt in particular is dangerous because it's immune to Thunder Wave, resists Gleam and Fire Blast, and can heavily damage the NastyPass set before it can Baton Pass out to something or Toxic it if it's predicting Togetic to hard switch.
- Note that Steel-types are vulnerable to +2 Fire Blast, thus Magneton is really the only Steel-type that should blindly be switched into Togetic if you suspect NastyPass unless Gleam has already been revealed
- Venusaur doesn't exactly appreciate Thunder Wave stripping it of its decent Speed and Drapion can be worn down by repeated Dazzling Gleams. Good answers, but make sure to note Togetic's ways of dealing with them on the switch
- Togetic can stay in on Sneasel to hit it with Dazzling Gleam in dire situations as it survives one Icicle Crash.
- In Steel-types, mention Steel-type coverage from the likes of Scrafty and Flygon to lure in Togetic for serious damage

Make these changes (you can wait to implement these until write-up) and QC Approved 2/3

Thanks for the QC :), I implemented the changes and changed from bullet points to paragraphs.

For Mega Camerupt should I give it its own point for Checks and Counters or just give it a more detailed mention in Special Attackers? (Right now, I gave a bigger mention in the Special Attackers Category)

Nasty Plot works well with Baton Pass in for passing Special Attack boosts to another Pokemon, though it can also be used to boost Togetic's Special Attack to power up Dazzling Gleam or Fire Blast. Moves
========

Roost is a primary move on Togetic used to maintain longevity and let it act as a consistent check to Fighting-types and Dark-types. Thunder Wave can be used to cripple faster Pokemon such as Medicham and Hitmonlee and helps it Togetic check Pokemon that try to set up on it. Dazzling Gleam works as Togetic's STAB move and hits Dark- and Fighting-types super effectively. Heal Bell allows for Togetic to act as a cleric and clear status off other Pokemon and itself, while Baton Pass can be used to pivot to other Pokemon when predicting a switch and for momentum.

Set Details
========

An odd HP number is used so that Togetic can come in on Stealth Rock five times instead of four. 248 HP and 252 Defense EVs maximize Togetic's bulk and allow Togetic to checks the Pokemon Togetic is resists such as Scrafty, Hitmonlee, Medicham, and Spiritomb. A Bold Nnature also increases Togetic's bulk. The remaining EVs are invested in Special Defense for additional bulk. An Eviolite is used to increase Togetic's bulk. Super Luck is the primary ability used in this set, as it increases chance to land critical hits.

Usage Tips
========

========

Hazard removers such as Flygon and Blastoise are generally appreciated to mitigate Togetic's weakness to Stealth Rock. Strong physical attackers that take on specially defensive walls, i.e. such as Registeel and Diancie, are great partners alongside Togetic. Examples include Medicham, Sneasel and Mega-Glalie. Pokemon that get rid of Steel-types like Magneton and Escavalier are great partners for Togetic and allow it to freely use Dazzling Gleam. Examples include Emboar and Virizion (for both of these change it to "Strong physical attackers that take on specially defensive walls, such as Medicham, Sneasel, and Mega Glalie, are great...." and "Pokemon that get rid of Steel-types, such as Emboar and Virizion, are great..."). Bulky teammates that appreciate Heal Bell support such as Alomomola and offensive Pokemon like Venusaur that are crippled by Thunder Wave work very well with Togetic (Pokemon crippled by status, such as Alomomola and Venusaur, work very well with Togetic thanks to its Heal Bell support."). Pokemon that can switch in(space)to absorb Knock Off are needed, as Togetic relies heavily on its item.

Other Options
=============

Defog is a possibility,(AC) although due to Togetic's weakness to Stealth Rock, it's not recommended, as Flygon and Blastoise are superior methods of hazard removal. Wish + Protect can be used,(AC) although Alomomola and Aromatisse are generally preferred as Wish passers due to their greater HP. A specially defensive variant can be used to check Houndoom, Delphox,(AC) and Meloetta, although it is a relatively weak check and physically Ddefensive variants check more. An offensive set consisting of Nasty Plot, Fire Blast, Dazzling Gleam,(AC) and Roost can be used (but why isn't it). Encore can be used on the support set to stop Pokemon that use Togetic as setup bait.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Residual Damage**: Each time Togetic switches in, it takes 25 percent from Stealth Rock and therefore limits its longevity. Status ailments can be a problem because of how Togetic is consistently needed as a check, and non-Heal Bell variants should be wary of this.

**Knock Off and Trick**: Knock Off can limit the Togetic's longevity by a lot, as Togetic relies on Eviolite for bulk. Trick users like Medicham and Delphox should be played around with caution because Choiced items will severely cripple Togetic.

**Taunt Users**: Taunt Uusers like Jellicent can severely cripple Togetic, as its only attacking moves are Dazzling Gleam and Fire Blast.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Strong special attackers like Hoopa, Mega Camerupt, and Venusaur threaten Togetic a lot, and it should not be switched in on these Pokemon. Mega Camerupt is particularly dangerous due to its immunity to Thunder Wave and resistance to Dazzling Gleam and Fire Blast. It can heavily damage the Baton Pass set before Togetic is able to use Baton Pass, or Toxic it if predicts Togetic to hard switch.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types can wall and severely damage Togetic with their STAB moves, such as Magneton's Flash Cannon. Magneton in particular isn't vulnerable to Toxic and Thunder-(hyphen)Wave. Steel-type coverage from Flygon and Scrafty can lure Togetic in with their Steel-type coverage. (if you want to mention this, move it to the end of this paragraph) However, Steel-types are vulnerable to a +2 Fire Blast, therefore Magneton should be the only Steel-type blindly switched into it if you suspect Togetic to use Baton Pass and Nasty Plot, unless Dazzling Gleam has been revealed.

**Rock-types**: Rock-types such as Rhyperior and Aerodactyl are threatening to Togetic, and it should not stay in on these Pokemon due to their hard-hitting STAB moves. Furthermore, Rhyperior is not vulnerable to Thunder Wave.

**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Jolteon and Manectric can hit tTogetic with special super effective Electric-type STAB moves, which can be very damaging for Togetic.

However, Venusaur fears Thunder Wave, as it needs its Speed to work more efficiently, and Drapion can be worn down by Dazzling Gleam.

**Ice-types**: Togetic should not stay in on Sneasel and Mega-(hyphen)Glalie because of its weakness to their Ice-type STAB moves. However, Iin dire situations, Togetic can stay in on Sneasel and hit it with Dazzling Gleam as it survives one Icicle Crash.

its not fantastic, but its ok

[OVERVIEW]

Togetic is generally used as a bulky Fairy- and Flying-type, as it sports high defensive stats aside from having with a decent Special Attack. Its defensive typing allows it to check; (RSC) Fighting-types such as Hitmonlee and Medicham, Dark-types such as Scrafty, Spiritomb, and Malamar, and Dragon-types like Flygon. Togetic is a nice defensive pivot, as it has access to moves such as Roost and Baton Pass while it and can also act as a cleric with Heal Bell. Togetic It is able to easily switch in on Flygon and prevent it from doing anything, making it the best answer for it in the tier. Its access to Eviolite further enhances its Defense and Special Defense; however, it makes Togetic severely prone to crippled by Knock Off, which is troublesome because many of the Pokemon Togetic switches into utilize Knock Off. Furthermore, Togetic's typing leaves it vulnerable to common offensive types such as Steel-types like Magneton, Rock-types like Aerodactyl, (AC) and Rhyperior, Electric-types like Jolteon, and Ice-types like Sneasel and Mega Glalie, as well as leaving and also leave Togetic weak to Stealth Rock.

Moves

Nasty Plot works well with Baton Pass for passing Special Attack boosts to another Pokemon, though it can also be used to boost Togetic's Special Attack to power up Togetic's own Dazzling Gleam or Fire Blast.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP and Defense EVs are extremely important to maximize bulk and let Togetic check physical attackers whose attacks that it resists such as Scrafty, Hitmonlee, Medicham, and Spiritomb. The rest of the EVs are invested in Special Defense for increased bulk. An Eviolite increases Togetic's bulk as well. Super Luck is the preferred ability, (AC) as it increases the rate of critical hits; however, Serene Grace should be used on Fire Blast variants, as it increases the chance of a burn. A Bold nature is used to increase Togetic's bulk, and the Speed IVs are reduced to 30 for a slower Baton Pass against base 40s like Spiritomb, Rhyperior, and invested Slowking.

Usage Tips
========

Try to get rid Stealth Rock before switching Togetic in, (AC) as it takes 25 percent upon switching in.

========

Special attackers that appreciate a Special Attack boost such as Delphox, Meloetta, and Accelgor can be great partners for Togetic. Flygon is especially is a beneficial partner, as offensive Defog variants run special moves, meaning that Flygon can take advantage of the Nasty Plot boosts Togetic can pass to pressure common special walls, such as Diancie and Registeel, with a +2 Life Orb-boosted Earth Power. Pokemon that can hit Steel-types like Magneton and Escavalier super effectively help Togetic to spam its STAB moves more freely. Examples of these Pokemon include Emboar and Houndoom.

didn't catch this but minor nitpick

"Speed IVs are reduced to 30 for a slower Baton Pass against base 40s like Spiritomb, Rhyperior, and invested Slowking."

say invested Spiritomb since Spiritomb is base 35.
