[DYAE R5] Losers' Finals: Mowtom vs zarator

Hello, everyone, to the final match of the DYAE tournament! It has been a long journey to this moment, full of hard fought battles. Now, in this place, two great trainers will clash in order to see which one is worthy to take home a powerful legend.

We'll get to them in a moment, but first, we have to take a look at the rules:

The Rules
- 4v4 Singles
- 3 Day DQ Time. 3 Warnings. WILL DQ if you exceed DQ 4 times.
- Infinite Recoveries/Chills per Pokémon.
- 3 Substitutions per player excluding KO Substitutions.
- 0 Mega Evolutions
- Switch = OK
- Abilities = ALL
- Items = ON
- Arena: ASB Tournament Arena
- MID-BATTLE EVOLUTION IS FORBIDDEN
Now, let's take a look at the two participants:

Mowtom

Kanto [Primeape] (F)

Type: Fighting
  • Fighting STAB; ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.
Abilities:
Vital Spirit / Anger Point / Defiant (Unlocked)
  • This Pokemon has a high vitality and alertness making it immune to sleep induced by other Pokemon. Its normal state of sleeplessness makes it take 1 less damage and energy/action from Ghost Curse. If it is put to sleep by a Pokemon with Mold Breaker, it will wake up the next action. If a Pokemon with Vital Spirit also has Insomnia, its Defense and Special Defense each is increased by one (1) Rank permanently, and its BRT is increased by two (2) ranks.
  • When struck with a critical hit, this Pokemon becomes enraged and its Attack rises to maximum (Stage 6). However, its Attack will drop up to two (2) stages at the end of each round instead of one (1) stage until it reaches the current natural stage.
  • The Pokemon has a deep sense of honor, and whenever one of its stats are decreased by an opponent's Attack or Ability, its Attack increases by two (2) stages. This boost may not reset towards its natural stage the round this ability is triggered.

Abilities:
Intimidate / Quick Feet / Rattled (Unlocked)
  • When this Pokemon initially goes out into the battlefield, it generates an intimidating roar or war cry that shakes all opponents on the battlefield, reducing their Attack stage (and adjusting the natural stage) by one (1). If an opponent switches in a new Pokemon, Intimidate can be activated again as a Command, and will affect all opponents.
    • Command: Activate Intimidate - 5 En - Lowers all foes' Attack (and adjusting the natural stage) by one (1) stage. Only usable if a foe entered play this round.
  • This Pokemon feels a sense of anxiety when afflicted with a status condition and its speed increases by 50% (x1.5). Although it can still be fully paralyzed, it will not suffer the Speed drop.

Two very, very, VERY good battlers. Zarator has gotten rid of his curse, and Mowtom has been beating people left and right. You all know about them already, so I won't bore you with history lessons. Team wise, I think Zarator has a slight edge. BUT I'm so rusty I may not even know what I'm talking about, so let's just get this started.

"Uhh...isn't this tournament using old sig items? I'm absolutely positive that I've used Rare Candy Yanmega last round, after the creation of the Relic Crown."

... yes it is. Sooooooo I screwed up. Zarator is having a Link Cable instead of Dueling Gloves (a sig item for a sig item, and one that can't be considered counterteaming). So, zarator , please send out now.

It's time to get this started!
zarator leads with his obvious lead Pokémon, Ampibom, who is tricky, fast and hard hitting enough to make it hard for anyone to order first against it.
... Unless you have a counter. Fighting-types apparently hit hard enough to send him packing, as seen by the massive amount of damage he takes from those moves. Curiously enough, Kanto would have lost the damage race if it had not been for a critical hit. You know, mentioning what could go wrong tends to make things go wrong, according to TV, movies, novels AND personal experience.

So yeah, zarator is now facing a +6 Atk Primeape, and none of his Pokémon particularly likes taking a hit from that. Will he able to use what he has at hand to stop Kanto from punching a huge hole in his team?

Ah, good old Endure + Rest.
Mowtom managed to get the first KO of the match. However, he did so barely, even with a matchup advantage.

And the battle between nameless Pokemon and those with simple-to-come-up-with names continues! This time, though, both players decide that they'd be better off with a different matchup, and this ends up with both of them revealing their whole team! Now, there will be no more surprises about who will come in to fight, and matchup control will be even more important with no real backup emergency plan to fall back on Pokémon wise.

Anyway, this round is the classic "Imprison the subs and then use your D/E moves" round. It would have been interesting if a freeze had happened, but alas, it didn't. The difference in damage taken is not very big, though, and zarator can't switch AND orders first, so IMO Mowtom has an advantage. But, who knows? Maybe zarator can make this work.

Meh, I'm dumb and stuff.
Granbull Intimidated!
-1 Atk Trevenant

Action 1
Trevenant used Imprison!
Dig, Protect and Substitute were imprisoned!
-8 EN

Johto used Ice Punch!
Crit (<= 625) = 2545: NO
(8 + 10 - 4.5) * 1.5 = 20.25 Dmg
Freeze (= 1000) = 5553: NO
-6 EN

Action 2
Trevenant vanished!

Johto used Crunch!
But it missed!
-6 EN

Trevenant used Phantom Force!
Crit (<= 625) = 7967: NO
(9 + 3 + 9 - 4.5 - 2) = 14.5 Dmg
-11 EN

Johto's Rattled activated!
+1 Spe

Action 3
Granbull used Ice Punch!
Crit (<= 625) = 9086: NO
(8 + 10 - 4.5) * 1.5 = 20.25 Dmg
Freeze (= 1000) = 6505: NO
-6 EN

Trevenant vanished!
Trevenant used Phantom Force!
Crit (<= 625) = 7967: NO
(9 + 3 + 9 - 4.5 - 2) = 14.5 Dmg
-15 EN

Totals:
Johto: -29 HP, -18 EN
Trevenant: -41 HP (40.5), -34 EN

Ofc I can make this work

Ingrain - Leech Seed - Poison Jab
If Granbull uses Taunt and isn't Taunted, replace your respective action with Magic Coat and push your actions back
If Granbull uses Lovely Kiss and isn't asleep, replace your respective action with Magic Coat and push your actions back
If you have less than 30 HP when you are to act on A3, replace your action with Pain Split

Mowtom

I'm truly still meta, enjoy this acronym!

"Johto should get a Rattled boost A2 and so be faster A3 tavok. I suspect this changes zarator's orders. Also it says this battle is 4v4 at the top."
