You walk towards a familiar stone henge, having spotted a newly-built stone hut right beside it that is the residence of the Gym Leader. By now you're experienced in travelling to know that this region is unique in that their Gym Leaders come in all shapes, sizes and social classes - some living on cruise ships, others in cemeteries, yet others in.... Let's just say the Gym League here either has a tight and biased budget, is an eccentric bunch, or both.

As you walked closer to the henge, you remembered that these rocks simply jutted, or grew, out of the ground, and they've stood there for eons, without work of man. Even the beams above the pillars seemed to be molded, not placed. Until now, you still hadn't figured out how they endured for so long-

"The answer, of course, lies in languages. Hi, I'm Wukong. I assume you're here for the Badge?"

You nodded, heart still racing from the scare, almost couldn't take it, and his face splits into a grin, looking at your proud team standing right behind you.

"I bet you have all the team you need to win this, since this place seems to be as much your home turf as it is mine. Let's get started then!"

He ran ahead, touching a pillar as he crossed the threshold. The whole henge immediately glowed with.... Unown Runes?? So THAT'S why - now you've found out!

"Come on, let's have a blast! As long as we battle within the Unown Rock Henge, we'll be fine!"

Format
  • 5 vs 5 Doubles, GL B7P5
  • 96-hour DQ (once someone goes over that, I'll usually leave a VM asking them to look at it. If their recent activity is twice over the time, a straight no-warning DQ may be requested by opponent)
  • 2 Abilities
  • 2/5 Recoveries/Chills
  • 7 Substitutions per round (excluding KO subs of course)
  • 1 Mega-Evolution
  • Switch = OK
  • Items = MEGA-STONES ONLY
  • Turn Order = COIN-FLIP
Arena mechanics
  1. All Rock-types get Rock Head if they don't already have it.
  2. The move Rock Slide has 30% chance to summon Stealth Rock onto the field instead of the original 30% flinch chance.
  3. All defensive moves listed under Rock STAB gain +4 Priority instead of the original +1.
  4. No external rock, water, or grass sources.
  5. No seismic combos allowed.
  6. Camouflage turns user into Rock-type, Nature Power calls Ancient Power, and Secret Power may lower Speed by one (1) stage.

Leader ZhengTann
Stratagem - Erza (U)

A swordsman wields the blade with graceful precision, just as Erza uses her attacks with dangerous beauty. She walked in on one of Gray and Natsu’s brawls, and the resulting free-for-all wore on for half a day before Zheng can subdue her with a Pokeball. Unknowingly for her, that fight left a lasting impression on the two – they’re cautious almost to the point of fearful whenever in her company since then. Wendy and Charla looks up to her as a role model, though, and it was Erza who took care of them, even though she was newer to the family.

Chargestone Cave is the hallowed ground for all of Erza's ancestry, yet she decides that she will withhold her instincts to evolve for the sake of her family. Small but close-knit, everyone looks up to Erza as the big sister, even though her quirks with boys sometimes astonished the girls and make the shy ones (like Juvia and Wendy) blush. After a series of long, drawn out clashes with Mirajane, both of them seemed to have settled to a cordial relationship, mutually agreeing to avoid mentioning the past conflicts, opting instead to look after the girls together and knock the boys down a peg or two when they get too loud.

It wasn't until the strawberry cake event that Erza finally found the courage to overcome her fear. The truth was, she was scared of shouldering her responsibility being a full-grown Stratagem, relying more and more on the rest of the family despite the lads' deferment to her leadership and skills. Resolving to do whatever it takes to protect herself and those around her, she secretly learn how to manipulate the nature from Mirajane, and the two became very fast friends. Although, Mirajane seems to have picked up some of Erza's racy quirks as well...

Nature: Modest (+1 SpA, -1 Atk)

Type:
Rock type: Rock STAB; Adds an additional level of Priority (+0 to +1, +3 to +4 etc.) on naturally occurring level-up, egg, tutor, or TM attacks that increase only defense, special defense, or prevent damage (Full list: Acid Armor, Amnesia, Barrier, Defense Curl, Detect, Fast Guard, Harden, Iron Defense, Light Screen, Protect, Reflect, Skull Bash, Stockpile, Wide Guard, Withdraw). Reduced damage from all special attacks by 2 BAP during Sandstorm, immune to Sandstorm damage. Ignores Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Levitate
Type: Passive
This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading the all seismic moves. Earth Power will have 3 less BAP. Dig and Dive can still strike a Levitating Pokemon, but only if their user is over Size Class 4, has Levitate, is 3.5m or larger, or is a Flying-type. Other Ground moves can still hit.

Ability 2: Technician
Type: Passive
This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their attacks that normally deal 6 or below base damage to have their base damage multiplied by 1.5. The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) damage, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2).

Ability 3: Mold Breaker (Unlocked)
Type: Passive
Whenever this Pokemon attacks, it emits an invisible, blindingly quick pulse preceding the attack that disables the opponents natural abilities (e.g. Levitators plummet towards the ground before Earthquake hits, Volt Absorb will not absorb electric attacks, Clear Body does not prevent stat-drops, etc.)

Armaldo - Pantherlily (M)

Gajeel was the one who found Pantherlily's Claw Fossil discarded at the entrance of a mine. Seeing the Murkrow's penchant for it, Zheng decided to go to the nearest archaeological lab and revive it. Pantherlily and Gajeel have been quite attached to each other ever since. They share the same camaraderie towards each other as Natsu and Gray, but at least they didn't have the head-splitting rivalry that the other pair always do. Often after a training session, Gajeel would take Pantherlily up for flight trips, while the latter demonstrates the pleasure of submersion in water. The rest of the family often help Pantherlily too, since he's still much less comfortable on terrestrial environment - Wendy loved piggybacking him and Charla together, while the latter doesn't mind that much.

Pantherlily's much larger size now meant that he would no longer be the protected fossiling now, but a respected fighter in his own right. Swinging his claws with the strength of a shield bash, Pantherlily trains everyday by felling trees for firewood and clearing debris around the monastery backyard. Often in the evenings, the only sounds there are the rustling of his claws as no fallen leaf ever touches the ground.

Rias Gremory, "Princess of Crimson Ruin" - Tyrantrum (F)

Rias is born to a rare family - one in which both her parents were present to take care of her. Before her, they already had a son - who grew up, evolved, and went away to stake his own territory. Being the younger "princess", Rias enjoyed all the privileges - and hardships - that her life as a future empress has to offer, before a cataclysm caused the death of herself and her whole family millions of years before the time of humans.

Being resurrected by Zheng, she is given to and named by Tanner as her Trainer, who somehow also hold another Jaw Fossil that can't be revived - probably because the piece held remnants of both her parents. It is rumoured that Rias' brother walks the earth again this same era that she does, however Rias does not know where to find him.

Evolving into her grown form, Rias still continues the search for her brother. And then she met Issei, then a young Charmander who knew nothing much about the world except the fire in his belly.... Who is just one of her "peerage" of Pokemons, each with stories of their own. She decides that it is high time she declared herself King, and she readies herself for the challenges of her very own monarchy by training relentlessly.

Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpAtk) - caring but stern

Type:
Rock type: Rock STAB; Rias is fast on her mind to add an additional level of Priority on Protect. She also takes reduced damage from all special attacks by two (2) Base Attack Power during Sandstorm, and is immune to Sandstorm damage. Her natural magic can mold and build rocks, ignoring Arena restrictions on Rock attacks requiring an external rock source.
Dragon type: Dragon STAB; -1 BAP on incoming neutral attacks Dragon itself would resist. Her powerful will allows Thrash or Outrage to be undisrupted by oncoming damage.

Abilities:
Ability 1: Strong Jaw
Type: Passive
Rias' thick fang and massive jaws give her incredibly powerful biting attacks, increasing the BAP of all biting attacks by three (3) BAP. Full List: Bite, Crunch, Fire Fang, Ice Fang, Poison Fang, Thunder Fang.

Ability 2: Rock Head (Unlocked)
Type: Passive
Rias' body and willpower fortifies herself in battle, preventing it from taking recoil damage from moves such as Double-Edge, Flare Blitz, and Head Smash.

Vali Lucifer, "White Dragon Emperor" - Aerodactyl (M)

Born to a lineage of Aerodactyl, with lineages going back as far as time immemorial, Vali was one of the few exceptional case born with great potential. But only one of them. And so he struggled to rise far and above those before it, with the competitive spirit beyond what most would even comprehend. He would use every bit of strength at his disposal just to further his training, and to beat every strong opponent that not just stood in his way, but also those he actively seek out. Currently his long-term project involves resurrecting God to Its True Forme, and challenging it to combat.

Rock Type: Dragon STAB; Thrash or Outrage will not be disrupted by oncoming damage.

Flying Type: Dragon STAB; Thrash or Outrage will not be disrupted by oncoming damage.

Abilities:

Ability 2: Pressure
Type: Passive
Vali's lineage and raw power means his presence fills the air with intense anxiety, and any damaging or status attack launched at him would cost the his opponents two (2) more energy to perform without sufficient will to overcome his.

Ability 3: Unnerve (Hidden)
Type: Passive
The Pokemon's presence causes immense tension in the opponent, preventing them from eating a held Berry. Natural Gift may still be used.

Ability 4: Tough Claws (Mega-Evo only)

Omastar, Stratagem, Cradily, Tyrantrum, Mega-Crucibelle.
I was going to accuse you of going Mega-Aggron, but then you didn't have its Mega's profile. Still, effectively shutting down Armaldo and Aerodactyl by team-building alone, and a monotype team at that, proves I still have a looooong way to go. But I'm still gonna prove my worth!!

"Threat detected. Cannibalistic characteristics analysed. Initiate Independence Protocol."

"Fighting without my peerage still takes getting used to."
Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum, and Gogmagog's Left the Omastar.

Sending out Gigan the Kabutops and Susan the Tyrantrum.

"All hail the helix fossil, trapped beneath the dome!"

"You will learn why I am the first!"
Orders to come at a later date. Posting now to make this thread easier to find.

Gigan the Kabutops: [WEAK ARMOR OFF] Low Kick (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum) > Ice Beam (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum) > Low Kick (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum)
IF Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum is under the effects of a Protective/Evasive Maneuver, THEN Feint (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum) and push actions back.
IF Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum uses Bide, THEN change remaining actions to Screech (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum) > Toxic (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum) > Low Kick (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum)
IF Rias Gremory uses Dig, THEN Iron Defense and push actions back.

IF Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum is KOed, THEN Brick Break (Gogmagog's Left the Omastar) instead.

Susan the Tyrantrum: Dragon Claw (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum) > Ice Fang (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum) > Dragon Claw (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum)
IF Targeted with Outrage, THEN Bide instead.
IF Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum uses Bide, THEN change remaining actions to Thunder Fang (Gogmagog's Left the Omastar) > Toxic (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum) > Thunder Fang (Gogmagog's Left the Omastar)
IF Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum is underground, THEN Earthquake and push actions back.

IF Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum is KOed, THEN Thunder Fang (Gogmagog's Left the Omastar) instead.

Crap, I forgot this is 2 Abilities. Our Tyrantrums are okay, but I need to ditch Weak Armour on my Omastar. Do you want to do the same to your Kabutops, and perhaps revise orders? Sorry for the delays.

Let's give this a shot then.

"Shield protocol initiated."

"I don't intend to be the first. I only intend to be the best King."

Gogmagog's Left (Omastar): Reflect > Ice Beam (Susan-Tyrantrum) > Earth Power (Susan-Tyrantrum)

Rias Gremory (Tyrantrum): Dragon Claw > Outrage > Outrage, all @ Susan-Tyrantrum

Round 1
Reminder: This match began before the changes to Outrage were implemented, and as such those changes do not apply here.
Ref Ruling: akela's first sub on Tyrantrum is illegal. The target isn't chosen until the move is used because Outrage selects a random enemy to target.

Crap. Didn't fact-check and I ended up throwing too much too early. But I do have one thing to say... Neither Omastar nor Kabutops have Swift Swim. You can just reshuffle the order around, since it doesn't really affect much other than akela's Tyrantrum thawing out on A3 instead of A2.

Well, 3 actions versus a possible 5. Not good at all.

"Shield protocol failed to produce projected results. Cannot compute. Switching to offensive maneuvers."[/I]
Gogmagog's Left (Omastar): Ice Beam > Ice Beam > Earth Power, all @ Susan-Tyrantrum
IF Susan-Tyrantrum is KO'ed AND Gigan-Kabutops is under the evasive phase of Dive, THEN replace that action with Surf @ Gigan-Kabutops instead.
IF Susan-Tyrantrum is KO'ed, THEN replace all remaining actions with Earth Power @ Gigan-Kabutops instead.
IF Susan-Tyrantrum is under the effects of Protective-Evasive moves, THEN replace that action with Earth Power @ Gigan-Kabutops instead.
IF Susan-Tyrantrum would use Bide A1 AND Left-Omastar is the last to attack it A2, THEN replace A3 with Protect (self) instead.
IF Susan-Tyrantrum is under the evasive phase of a Damaging Evasive move, THEN replace that action with Earth Power @ Susan-Tyrantrum instead, pushing remaining queue back.

Rias Gremory (Tyrantrum): Outrage > Outrage > Protect (self)

Kabutops: Giga Drain (Gogmagog's Left the Omastar) > Mega Drain (Gogmagog's Left the Omastar) > Giga Drain (Gogmagog's Left the Omastar)
Susan the Tyrantrum: Dragon Claw (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum) > Ice Fang (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum) > Dragon Claw (Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum)
IF Rias Gremory the Tyrantrum is KO'd when you would Target it, THEN Thunder Fang (Gogmagog's Left the Omastar) instead.
