Moves
========
- Rain Dance allows rain abusers to sweep, while Sunny Day allows sun abusers to sweep. Rain is very important for Pokemon like Ludicolo or Kabutops because it doubles their speed and gives them a strong boost to their Water STABs.
- Stealth Rock is to break Focus Sashes which is extremely important on Weather because a Sashed Pokemon can cripple one of your sweepers before they can do a lot.
- U-Turn can be used as momentum grab, allowing Mesprit to U-Turn on Pokemon like Combusken which likely will not stay in on Mesprit.
- Psychic is a STAB filler move so that Mesprit is not completely passive and can actually do something versus Pokemon such as Garbodor
========
- 252 HP EVs with 240 Defense EVs and a Bold nature allow Mesprit to come in on many physical attackers in the tier. The 16 leftover EV's go into speed to allow Mesprit to outspeed allow Adamant Aggron, 56 Speed Garbodor, and Lanturn.
- Damp Rock / Heat Rock allow Mesprit to keep up rain/sun longer.
- A defensive spread allows it to take on threats versus Rain such as Hitmonchan which can pressure Omastar and Kabutops with strong priority.
========
- Mesprit should usually set up rocks then Weather, but this can change with the situation. Sometimes you do this versus a very offensive team that lacks switch ins to Weather and getting weather up as soon as possible can possibly change the outcome of a game.
- It is sometimes best to preserve Mesprit for later in the game, as to set up rain again and make it more threatening.
- Sometimes it is not worth setting up rain at the risk of it getting outsped and taunted or gettings its weather rock knocked off.
- Stealth Rock + Weather on Mesprit is great for role compression, and Mesprit's bulk allows it to use both effectively while being hard to pressure.
- Mesprit can be used over other setters like Regirock because of its fighting resistance and ground immunity, which can be useful if using sweepers like Sawsbuck or Kabutops which appreciate the Fighting and Ground Resistance.
- Slow U-Turn with only a few Speed EV's is insanely good because it can bring in Rain threats safely most of the time, unless you have a slower opponent.
- U-Turning after setting up Weather can possibly be important because rain turns are very important, however hard switching is sometimes better because without Thunder Wave or much offensive presence Mesprit can be set up on
Team Options
========
- Rain Sweepers such as Ludicolo or Kabutops are best paired up with Mesprit because they can abuse the rain with Swift Swim and boosted STAB moves.
- Sun Sweepers such as Sawsbuck or Shiftry are good partners with Mesprit because they can abuse the sun with Chlorophyll and strong moves. Fire Types that abuse sun such as Charizard and Pyroar are good because they can hit extremely hard with Sun-boosted STAB moves.
- Fast Rain setters like Electrode are good because they can outspeed the whole metagame, as well as Liepard because Prankster Rain Dance is almost guaranteed Rain.
