[OVERVIEW]

Landorus-T provides great utility and power that allow it to serve a variety of roles on a team, such as revenge killing or checking the many powerful physical attackers in the format. Intimidate and a great typing both offensively and defensively make Landorus-T an excellent pivot, which helps it switch into many threats and maintain momentum for its team thanks to U-turn. Coverage moves such as Superpower and Knock Off also allow it to beat major threats such as Mega Kangaskhan and Gengar. Landorus-T can also utilize a defensive support-oriented set as a result of its typing and Intimidate, which is very useful in a format dominated by physical attackers. However, a crippling Ice-type weakness means that checking Landorus-T isn't difficult, and many common threats such as Cresselia, Suicune, Thundurus, Blaziken, and Greninja are known to carry Ice-type moves for it. Landorus-T competes with Garchomp as a wallbreaker and setup sweeper, which is generally a better user of Swords Dance and Choice Band than Landorus-T thanks to its superior Speed and coverage. It also competes with Hippowdon on defensive sets, which has reliable recovery and Yawn to prevent it from being setup bait. Furthermore, Landorus-T's most common and effective set utilizes Choice Scarf, which means it can often be played around, which is particularly dangerous because locking into Earthquake gives a free switch in to many dangerous Flying-types and Levitate Pokemon.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Earthquake is a powerful STAB move with fantastic coverage that is effective for cleaning late-game, especially if the opponent lacks switch-ins to Ground-type moves. U-turn allows Landorus-T to pivot out safely against bad matchups, since Landorus-T often forces switches thanks to Intimidate and its great Attack stat. Knock Off can also capitalize on forced switches by removing items from threats such as Porygon2 or even opposing Landorus-T, which otherwise safely switch into Landorus-T. Knock Off gives Landorus-T a way to hit Gengar as well without needing to guess whether or not Gengar will Mega Evolve. Superpower has a chance to OHKO Mega Kangaskhan and also hits Ferrothorn harder than Earthquake. It can also OHKO Mamoswine, though Mamoswine commonly runs Focus Sash and OHKOes Landorus-T with Ice Shard if it hasn't been affected by Intimidate. Rock-type coverage complements STAB Earthquake well, preventing Flying-types from freely switching in. Rock Slide is preferred for its accuracy and flinch chance, while Stone Edge allows Landorus-T to beat bulkier Thundurus reliably at the cost of lower accuracy. Stone Edge's lower accuracy can be very undesirable if using Landorus-T as a Talonflame check, though. Rock Tomb is also an option that doesn't give up as much momentum as Rock Slide or Stone Edge if an enemy switches into it, since it can help a teammate outspeed a faster foe, though the Speed drop doesn't help Landorus-T much.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed investment allows Landorus-T to hit as hard and fast as possible, while the leftover EVs are placed in HP. Choice Scarf allows Landorus-T to function as an effective revenge killer and pivot, hitting a comfortable Speed tier that outspeeds nearly all unboosted threats. Intimidate allows Landorus-T to switch into the many physical attackers in the format more comfortably, increasing its effectiveness as a pivot. An Adamant nature is preferred for the extra power and is necessary for the chance to OHKO Mega Kangaskhan, and the power in general allows Landorus-T to revenge kill and clean more effectively late-game. Alternatively, a Jolly nature allows Landorus-T to outspeed Adamant Mega Charizard X after a Dragon Dance and prevents Life Orb Blaziken from outspeeding it after one Speed Boost, though Adamant is generally better unless outspeeding these threats is preferable.

Usage Tips
========

Landorus-T is a very effective pivot, so it functions well as a lead. If the opponent lacks Mamoswine or if you don't know what to lead with, leading with Landorus-T is generally safe, since it can U-turn out of most unfavorable matchups. Avoid locking into Earthquake early as well, especially if the opponent might have a dangerous Flying-type such as Talonflame or Mega Salamence. A great defensive typing and Intimidate also mean that Landorus-T can often find several opportunities to switch in throughout the battle, which can help regain momentum. Bringing Landorus-T in after a teammate has been KOed is also effective, as this allows it to gain momentum or revenge kill a foe. Cleaning up late-game is also possible, since Landorus-T has great Attack, which is made easier if the opponent lacks any Ground-immune Pokemon, though removing threats immune to Ground-type moves should always be a priority regardless. Landorus-T has difficulty breaking through defensive teams, though, especially when locked into one move, so you're usually better off not bringing it against bulkier teams.

Team Options
========

Suicune covers Landorus-T's Ice- and Water-type weaknesses while Landorus-T is immune to Electric-type moves. Suicune also appreciates the Intimidate support to handle physical attackers more effectively. Mega Gengar can trap Cresselia, which is a threat for Landorus-T, since it often runs Ice Beam to beat Landorus-T, and Landorus-T usually can't beat Cresselia on its own anyway. Setup sweepers appreciate Intimidate support from Landorus-T; Blaziken, Mega Charizard X, Talonflame, Scizor, and Mega Kangaskhan all have an easier time setting up against a weakened physical attacker. Landorus-T also has an easier time cleaning up afterwards if its partner couldn't finish the job. Scizor in particular also creates an effective VoltTurn core with Landorus-T and appreciates its ability to threaten opposing Fire-types, which otherwise switch into Scizor easily. Electric-types such as Thundurus, Zapdos, Raikou, Rotom-W, and Mega Manectric can handle the Water-types that threaten Landorus-T. Rotom-W, Raikou, or Mega Manectric can form an effective VoltTurn core with Landorus-T while Rotom-W can also handle Ice-type moves, whereas Thundurus and Zapdos appreciate having a partner that can switch into Ground-types they can't deal with such as Excadrill with Sand Rush active. Ferrothorn is a reliable partner for pivoting into, since Iron Barbs and Rocky Helmet can punish physical attackers even further, and it can reliably deal with Water-types.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Earthquake provides Landorus-T with a powerful and accurate STAB move that still does a lot of damage uninvested. U-turn allows it to pivot out of difficult matchups more effectively and maintain momentum after setting Stealth Rock, which provides useful support for offensive sweepers such as Volcarona and Blaziken that can't deal with Talonflame. Not all teams need this Stealth Rock support, though, so Knock Off can be used instead for the utility of removing a foe's item. While Stealth Rock deters Talonflame from switching in, Rock Tomb can be used to prevent Talonflame from attempting to set up on Landorus-T while also lowering the Speed of any foe switching in, making it easier for Landorus-T or a teammate to deal with it. Rock Slide offers more power at the cost of accuracy if the speed control isn't necessary, though Rock Tomb is generally a better option. If covering Talonflame is not a concern, Knock Off and Stealth Rock can be used together.

Set Details
========

The given EVs maximize physical bulk while ensuring that Landorus-T outspeeds Garchomp after Rock Tomb. An Impish nature is used in order to check physical attackers better, such as the aforementioned Garchomp, Mega Kangaskhan, and Mega Blaziken. Investing more in Speed allows Landorus-T to outspeed various threats after Rock Tomb at the cost of bulk; 60 Speed EVs allow Landorus-T to outspeed everything up to base 110 Speed after Rock Tomb, while 92 Speed EVs allow it to outspeed Pokemon with up to base 115 Speed after Rock Tomb. Intimidate complements Landorus-T's bulk, allowing it to comfortably switch into most physical attackers without taking too much damage. Rocky Helmet punishes physical attackers further and allows Landorus-T to function as a safe switch-in to Mega Kangaskhan.

Usage Tips
========

This set works well as a lead to try to set Stealth Rock as early as possible and is effective at forcing switches because an opponent is likely to expect Landorus-T to be running Choice Scarf. Landorus-T wants to force as many switches as possible to rack up more Stealth Rock damage, so using U-turn after setting Stealth Rock helps Landorus-T wear down the opposing team, as it can often force another switch while maintaining momentum. When setting Stealth Rock is not necessary, Landorus-T still functions as an effective switch-in to physical attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Blaziken, punishing them with Rocky Helmet damage as well as lowering their Attack. Landorus-T can switch into physical attackers very liberally thanks to Intimidate and its great defensive typing, though its lack of recovery means that it usually can't handle entire teams by itself. If Landorus-T is necessary to check a specific threat, avoid switching it in too much, since it needs to remain healthy in order to check stronger physical attackers such as Mega Charizard X and Talonflame effectively. Landorus-T's lack of recovery or means to threaten defensive foes such as Cresselia and Slowbro make it a liability against defensive teams, so it's generally better to avoid bringing it against such teams.

Team Options
========

Landorus-T appreciates teammates that can beat leads with Ice-type moves such as Mamoswine and Greninja, so Conkeldurr and bulky Water-types are effective teammates. Bulky Water-types such as Suicune also appreciate Intimidate support and switch into Water- and Ice-type moves for Landorus-T, while Landorus-T can switch into Electric-type moves. Suicune can also set up with Calm Mind and Substitute against defensive threats that Landorus-T can't deal with. Electric-types such as Rotom-W, Zapdos, Raikou, and Mega Manectric can deal with opposing bulky Water-types that Landorus-T struggles to beat. Raikou and Mega Manectric also appreciate having a teammate that can come in on Ground-type moves, and the latter outspeeds Greninja after Mega Evolving. Fire-types such as Blaziken, Talonflame, and Mega Charizard X appreciate Landorus-T's ability to switch into Ground- and Rock-type moves. They also appreciate Landorus-T's ability to wear down foes through Rocky Helmet damage and Stealth Rock in order to sweep more effectively. However, the added weakness to Water-types can be problematic. Landorus-T pairs well with sweepers in general, including Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Lucario, and Mega Mawile, due to its great defensive typing and ability to wear down foes. All three of these also struggle with Mega Blaziken and Garchomp to some extent, and Landorus-T deals with both reasonably well.

evs: 164 HP / 252 Atk / 92 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Earthquake is a powerful STAB move that does huge damage to anything that doesn't resist it. U-turn allows Landorus-T to function as an effective pivot and escape difficult matchups, which works well with the switches that it often forces. Knock Off allows Landorus-T to punish switches by removing the foe's item and lets it hit Gengar and Cresselia harder. Superpower can be used to hit Mega Kangaskhan and Ferrothorn harder and has a chance to OHKO the former with an Adamant nature. Rock Tomb is effective for lowering the Speed of a switch-in so that Landorus-T can beat an otherwise faster foe itself, which helps mitigate Landorus-T's otherwise average Speed. Stone Edge is much more powerful at the cost of being less accurate, and it notably allows Landorus-T to beat bulky Thundurus more reliably. Rock Slide is a middle ground option that's more accurate than Stone Edge while still being more powerful than Rock Tomb. The flinch chance can also get Landorus-T out of tight situations.

Set Details
========

The given EVs allow Landorus-T to hit as hard as possible while allowing it to outspeed all Pokemon up to base 115 Speed after Rock Tomb. The remaining EVs are placed in HP to increase Landorus-T's bulk to help it survive stronger special attacks, such as Hidden Power Ice from Life Orb Thundurus and Overheat from Timid Mega Charizard Y. If a faster Landorus-T is preferred, a spread of 252 Atk / 28 SpD / 228 Spe should be used so that Life Orb Thundurus can't OHKO Landorus-T with Hidden Power Ice. Assault Vest allows Landorus-T to function as pivot with mixed bulk combined with Intimidate reducing a foe's Attack. This is effective at luring common users of Hidden Power Ice that otherwise can OHKO Landorus-T. An Adamant nature boosts Landorus-T's Attack further and is preferred, since it can use Rock Tomb to help it outspeed foes regardless. A Jolly nature doesn't help Landorus-T outspeed many threats, though it does allow it to outspeed Adamant Mega Charizard X, Modest Volcarona, and Timid Rotom-W and Rotom-H.

Usage Tips
========

Assault Vest Landorus-T has the bulk to switch into both physical and special attackers, so it functions as an effective pivot. Landorus-T is a tank, so it should take advantage of its great typing and mixed bulk in order to switch into threats and retaliate with its strong attacks. Many threats rely on strong special attacks to beat Landorus-T because they aren't affected by Intimidate, so Assault Vest is effective for letting it surprise these special attackers. This includes common users of Hidden Power Ice such as Thundurus, Volcarona, and Life Orb Blaziken, as well as generally powerful special attackers like Hydreigon and Sylveon. Most opponents expect Choice Scarf from Landorus-T, so bluffing that set can be particularly effective against Flying-types such as Dragonite and Talonflame that think they have a free turn to set up after switching into Earthquake. This also makes Landorus-T a safe lead, since Choice Scarf Landorus-T is also commonly used as a lead and is effective at forcing switches.

Team Options
========

Bulky Water-types such as Suicune and Rotom-W are effective partners that can deal with Water- and Ice-types for Landorus-T and appreciate having a partner to help them take physical attacks better as well as threaten Electric-types. Paralysis support is very useful for Landorus-T due to its average Speed, especially if you're not running Rock Tomb. Thundurus, Serperior, Ferrothorn, and Zapdos are all effective partners that can offer this support. They're also all effective against bulky Water-types that give Landorus-T a difficult time. Mega Kangaskhan appreciates having a teammate that can beat Fighting-types such as Blaziken, and Assault Vest allows Landorus-T to switch into special Mega Lucario more effectively. Strong setup sweepers such as Talonflame, Mega Blaziken, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Mawile appreciate Landorus-T's ability to switch into threats such as Thundurus and Heatran, with the former three all dealing with Ferrothorn and Skarmory. Landorus-T can also use U-turn after a faster foe attacks to let them come in safely, especially if Landorus-T forgoes Speed investment. This Landorus-T is effective as part of a VoltTurn core thanks to its bulk, so common users of Volt Switch and U-turn such as Rotom-W, Scizor, Mega Manectric, and Raikou pair well with it.

[SET]
name: Offensive Stealth Rock
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Rock Tomb
move 4: Explosion / U-turn / Knock Off / Superpower
item: Focus Sash
ability: Intimidate
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Stealth Rock allows Landorus-T to support powerful setup sweepers that appreciate its ability to break Focus Sash and rack up extra damage, which is generally easy to set up thanks to Focus Sash. Earthquake is Landorus-T's main STAB move, usually dealing a lot of damage when unresisted. Rock Tomb is primarily used for its ability to lower the foe's Speed, but if Focus Sash is still intact, the combination of Rock Tomb and Earthquake can disrupt faster foes like Greninja. Rock Tomb also does significant damage to Flying-types such as Talonflame, Thundurus, Charizard, and Salamence. Explosion is a last-resort option that is best used after Focus Sash has been broken, dealing huge damage to anything that doesn't resist it while allowing a teammate to come in on the next turn without taking damage. U-turn can get Landorus-T out of difficult situations with certain leads such as Breloom and Rotom-W and is generally useful or scouting if you wish to preserve Landorus-T for later in the game. Knock Off removes problematic items such as Rocky Helmet and Eviolite and hits Gengar hard, while Superpower can be used to hit Mega Kangaskhan.

Set Details
========

Focus Sash might appear unnecessary considering Landorus-T's impressive bulk, but it nearly guarantees that you can set up Stealth Rock against any common lead other than Mamoswine. Focus Sash is also useful for revenge killing foes that Landorus-T normally can't beat, such as Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, and Greninja. Maximum Attack and Speed investment with an Adamant nature is ideal for the most power, and with a Focus Sash there's little need for defensive investment, since setting Stealth Rock is the primary goal of this set. However, a Jolly nature can be used in order to outspeed neutral-natured Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Charizard X, and Volcarona.

Usage Tips
========

Setting up Stealth Rock is often the main priority, especially if you need it for certain sweepers to take down Talonflame, but saving Landorus-T for later can also be advantageous to safely revenge kill a foe. While Landorus-T is still useful beyond the utility of its Focus Sash, Mamoswine leads are a huge issue, so benching Landorus-T is fine if you see it at Team Preview. If running U-turn, make sure to capitalize on the momentum it provides, because Landorus-T forces a lot of switches. It's also useful for getting sweepers in safely, especially after setting Stealth Rock, since this might force another switch and rack up more damage. If running Explosion, don't be afraid to use it immediately after setting Stealth Rock if it can put a sweeper in the position to clean up quickly.

Team Options
========

This Landorus-T set is best paired with setup sweepers, since they greatly appreciate the Stealth Rock damage and surprise KOs that Landorus-T can get for them. Examples of effective partners include Mega Kangaskhan, which appreciates the residual damage to deal with Cresselia and Suicune, and Mega Lucario, which can KO Talonflame with +2 Extreme Speed. Mega Blaziken also loves Stealth Rock to bring down Talonflame, and Mega Charizard X can set up on bulky Water-types that often switch into Landorus-T. Breloom and Mamoswine are both problematic leads for Landorus-T, so teammates that can deal with them are ideal. Rotom-W helps a lot with Mamoswine, Safety Goggles Aegislash completely walls Breloom, and Mega Venusaur deals with both of them thanks to Thick Fat and an immunity to Spore. While Ferrothorn is weak to Fighting-type moves, it can help check Breloom with a combination of Iron Barbs damage and Gyro Ball.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Swords Dance can be used with a Focus Sash to let Landorus-T function as a sweeper, though its Speed is lacking for a sweeper and still leaves it vulnerable to being revenge killed. Choice Band allows Landorus-T to function as a powerful wallbreaker thanks to its huge Attack and decent Speed. However, it is generally outclassed by Garchomp, which has a better Speed tier and usable secondary STAB moves. Toxic can be used on the defensive set in order to cripple other walls such as Cresselia and Hippowdon that otherwise don't mind switching into Landorus-T. Landorus-T has an acceptable base 105 Special Attack to utilize Hidden Power Ice, which can be an effective lure, since Landorus-T usually can't do much to an opposing Landorus-T. It can also surprise Garchomp and Mega Salamence, though it has no other targets beyond them. Yache Berry can be used to survive Ice-type coverage moves such as Hidden Power Ice from Thundurus and Ice Punch from Tyranitar, though unless you wish to run Stealth Rock, Assault Vest is generally better. Fissure can be used on Assault Vest sets and defensive sets to punish bulky threats that might otherwise be able to switch in completely safely, such as Suicune, Ferrothorn, and Porygon2, though it's difficult to fit it on a set.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Suicune, Rotom-W, and Mega Slowbro can take anything from Landorus-T and retaliate with their respective Water-type STAB moves or even Ice Beam. Rotom-W in particular is immune to Earthquake and doesn't fear anything from Landorus-T except losing its item to Knock Off.

**Ice-type Move Users**: Ice-type moves are very common on many top threats for dealing with Garchomp, so Landorus-T has a difficult time against common users of these moves. Bulky Water-types, Cresselia, Greninja, Mamoswine, Zapdos, Thundurus, Porygon2, Gengar, and even Blaziken are all viable users of Ice-type moves that can beat Landorus-T. However, more offensive threats often hit Landorus-T's Special Defense, so they must be wary of Assault Vest variants.

**Mega Heracross**: Mega Heracross resists all of Landorus-T's common moves bar Rock-type moves and is generally bulky enough to switch into and 2HKO offensive variants with Rock Blast or Bullet Seed. Unlike many physical attackers, it also doesn't fear Rocky Helmet, since neither move makes contact.

**Physical Walls**: While Landorus-T has a huge Attack stat, it has trouble breaking through physically bulky threats because it rarely runs boosting moves or items. Cresselia, Porygon2, Gliscor, Mega Venusaur, Skarmory, Hippowdon, Ferrothorn, and even opposing Landorus-T can be difficult for Landorus-T to break through unless they've been weakened already. However, Porygon2 and Ferrothorn must be wary of switching into Superpower.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Landorus-T often relies on Intimidate to check physical attackers, but it has no way to take powerful speical attacks if it doesn't have an Assault Vest. Mixed Mega Salamence, Serperior, and Hydreigon can all give Landorus-T a difficult time, especially Choice Scarf variants that are locked into the wrong move. Locking into Earthquake can also give the likes of Latios and Mega Charizard Y an easy turn to hit Landorus-T hard.

I'd make sash a set since it has 11% usage from last season, and Explosion and Intimidate is pretty unique among SR Sash Ground mons.

Alright this took awhile to get all ready, but after all this time and a week of gradually writing, it's time for this to finally get into QC. I actually decided to keep Sash Landorus-T in Other Options for now, mainly because I've still not really ever seen Sash and cant say said he's never seen it either. We'll see what others have to say about it though.

[OVERVIEW]

-Competes with Garchomp as a wallbreaker and setup sweeper, which is generally better with Swords Dance and Choice Band than Landorus-T.
Thanks to coverage options like Fire Fang, and the ability to hit through sash users with Dual Chop.
Also competes Hippowdon as a defensive Ground-type, which has better typing, bulk and has a momentum breaking move in Yawn. And on top of that, has access to reliable recovery.
Landorus-T is somewhat vulnerable to burn than other physical threats, whether it's their immunity to WOW, or the ability to go mixed, or even due to their likelihood of having Lum Berry or Substitute or maybe Facade.

[SET]

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

When you talk about Superpower also note how it OHKOs Mamoswine (assuming non-sash or Choice Scarf variants).

Usage Tips
========

-Landorus-T is a very pivot, so it functions very well as a lead.
Is it just me or does this part sound very weird. (Easy fix though.)
Knock Off is safer on Mega Gengar than Earthquake if you predict wrongly you lock yourself into EQ.
Bench Landorus-T against defensive teams since it has little hope in breaking past those while being locked into a single move and being a status magnet as it is.

[SET]
name: Defensive

252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spe
Minor alternative if you're into fancy spreads. 20 EVs in Speed allows you to outspeed Garchomp after Rock Tomb. 236 EVs in Defense will still hit a "jump" thanks to Impish nature, the rest goes to HP.

Usage Tips
========

Once again, Landorus-T has no means of dealing with bulkier teams due to lack of investment in Attack, no boosting moves or reliable recovery. Therefore -> Bench.

Team Options
========

When you talk about Suicune in Team Options, also mention that Suicune can set up on defensive threats that Landorus-T cannot touch.

[SET]
name: Assault Vest

Usage Tips
========

Make a mention of a special attacker or two that you can deal with, to make things clear. Surely Landorus-T won't be able to take random Ice Beams even with vest and it'll still be vulnerable as ever to Scald burns. But certainly you can beat Raikou, and with HP investment, even survived Specs boosted HP Ice.

Team Options
========

Talonflame is good here also. Helps you deal with Steel-types that you struggle with, such as Ferrothorn and Skarmory. Priority Brave Bird is always nice against Fighting-types (Mega Heracross).
There are plenty of solid team options here so nothing much to add. If you feel the need to expand some of these sections when you write it up, just add more details to the specific teammates like how Serperior beats Hippowdon, Rotom-W and Raikou helps you muscle past all the defensive threats with ease, in return Landorus-T helps switch into Talonflame and bulky physical attackers.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Hidden Power Ice is cool given how Landorus-T has a usable 105 Special Attack, and doesn’t have much to hit other bulky Ground-types with. (However, usage has been pretty low in every season, maybe the difficulty in getting a legit one on cart.)
Yache Berry is high enough for Other Options mention (hovering at around 3-4% in the recent season). You can live certain Ice Punch better (something which Assault Vest can't provide). It's kind of like how Tyranitar benefits from both Chople Berry and Assault Vest, but in different ways, if you know what I mean.

Checks and Counters
===================

Mega Venusaur, Gliscor, Mega Sableye, Mega Heracross, Will-O-Wisp, Air Balloon (Aegislash), Levitate.

So me and Psynergy talked for a bit, and since he doesn't really have experience with the sash set, I said I could write it (Yes I know I'm doing a of stuff right now, but sash Landorus-T is simple and I'd argue covering Landorus-T fully is more important than Articuno and Mega Venusaur). However, we're not sure if I should just make a separate thread or just post it here and let Psynergy copy + paste it into the analysis, thoughts?

The PS convo for reference.

[15:56:48] @Theorymon: about sash Landorus-T
[15:57:12] @Theorymon: since its been the #4 item pretty consistently, I do think it should be added. However if you have no experience with it
[15:57:17] @Theorymon: I could quickly write it up if you wanted me to
[15:57:27] @Theorymon: since honestly its more important than Articuno and Mega Venusaur imo lol
[15:57:32] @Theorymon: (and its also very simple)
[15:59:03] @Psynergy: idk I don't really like sash at all
[15:59:10] @Psynergy: if you want to write it up though go ahead imo
[15:59:42] @Theorymon: ok!
[16:00:20] @Theorymon: I just feel like it should be covered when its that common is all. hm tho should I write it up for you're thread
[16:00:29] @Theorymon: or make a seperate thread
[16:00:34] @Theorymon: I forget how C&C handles that kind of stuff now
[16:01:06] @Theorymon: in the past it was just submitted in the thread
[16:01:23] @Psynergy: yeah I think that might be easier
[16:01:39] @Psynergy: especially since I'm in the process of writing the rest of it right now
[16:01:52] @Theorymon: so want me to make a seperate thread for now?
[16:02:23] @Psynergy: this actually might be something worth bringing up with the other QC members
[16:02:34] @Psynergy: to see what they think we should do
[16:03:26] @Theorymon: ok

Psynergy , I wrote the Skeleton for sash Landorus-T! BTW I imagine you and cant say haven't seen it because its usage has gone down the past few seasons (Guessing its because of Mamoswine), but it still has almost 11% usage (which is a bit low but not unseen) and is still very usable imo!

-Stealth Rock is the main reason to use this set, and sash means it sets it up most of the time.

-Earthquake is the main STAB.

-Rock Tomb goes especially well with this set cuz if you still have sash intact, you can use Rock Tomb + EQ to screw up certain mons like Greninja. Also smacks Talonflame, Thundurus, Charizard, and Salamence.

-Explosion is a hail marry that you can use when your sash is gone, having 100 BP more than Earthquake.

-U-turn gets you out of hairy situations with certain leads such as Breloom or Rotom-W. Great for scouting too.

-Knock Off gets rid of annoying stuff like Rocky Helmets and Eviolites and hits Gengar the hardest, while Superpower does a ton to Mega Kangaskhan.

Set Details
========

-Sash may seem strange considering Landorus-T's bulk, but it damn near gurantees SR set up unless you face Mamoswine. Also great for revenge killing stuff Landorus-T normally can't, such as Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, Greninja.

-Adamant max Speed and Attack for best offensive power. Can use Jolly to outspeed Adamant Mega Kangaskhan, MCX, and Modest Volcarona though.

Usage Tips
========

-Setting up SR is a big priority most of the time (especially if you need it for certain sweepers to smash through Talonflame), but theres no harm in saving Landorus-T for later to get clutch revenge kills.

-While Landorus-T is still useful with no sash intact, SR Mamoswine leads are huge bastards so benching Landorus-T is ok if you suspect them at team preview.

-If you have U-turn, use it a lot since Landorus-T forces a lot of switches and its great for getting sweepers in (especially if you get SR set up).

-If you have Explosion, don't be afraid to SR + Boom if you think that's gonna put a sweeper in the position to clean up.

Team Options
========

-Pair this with sweepers, they love SR and surprise kills Landorus-T can get. Good examples include Mega Kangaskhan (easier tot take down Cresselia and Suicune with SR), Mega Lucario (lets +2 ExtremeSpeed own Talonflame after SR), Blaziken / Mega Blaziken (loves SR, watch out for Water-types tho), Megazard X (owns Water-types which is cool).

-You'll want something for Breloom and Mamoswine, which are problematic leads. Rotom-W helps a lot with Mamoswine. Can use Mega Venusaur to screw with both of them, Safety Goggles Aegislash if you really hate Breloom. Ferrothorn can help check Breloom cuz of iron barns + gyro ball.

Alright, not so busy anymore so I got most everything including the new set implemented. There's a few details I didn't add, like some of the points about it hating status/burns since that feels like common sense for a physical attacker. I also personally wouldn't use Air Balloon Aegislash as my Lando-T check since that only really annoys Scarf Lando-T locked into EQ, and I think that's implied by the point about being careful locking into EQ anyway.

I also mentioned the 20 Speed Lando-T in Set Details for now since I know GP usually doesn't like speed creep in the main set and because outspeeding Garchomp doesn't help that much. Also added 60 Speed Lando-T to outpace Base 110s after the drop.

[OVERVIEW]

+ Intimidate and good typing both offensively and defensively makes it an excellent pivot
+ Landorus-T can also run a defensive support oriented set as a result if its typing and Intimidate, which is very useful in a format dominated by physical attackers
+ Huge Attack stat and decent Speed tier for a revenge killer
+ Useful coverage moves like Superpower and Knock Off lets it beat threats such as Mega Kangaskhan, and Gengar without the mindgames of whether or not it Mega Evolves.
- x4 Ice weakness sucks and many threats such as Cresselia, Suicune, Thundurus, Blaziken, and Greninja are known to carry Ice moves for it.
- Competes with Garchomp as a wallbreaker and setup sweeper, which is generally better with Swords Dance and Choice Band than Landorus-T thanks to its superior Speed and coverage.
- Also competes with Hippowdon defensively, which has reliable recovery and Yawn to prevent it from being setup bait.
- Landorus-T's most common and effective set utilizes Choice Scarf, which means it can often be played around, especially since locking into Earthquake gives a free switch-in to many dangerous Flying-types and Levitate Pokemon.

I think you should talk about U-Turn in the overview, probably when you mention useful moves. U-turn is another big part of what sets lando-t apart from other ground types imo, the momentum you can get from it is huge.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Knock Off / Superpower
move 4: Rock Tomb / Rock Slide / Stone Edge I feel like Rock Slide should go over Rock Tomb on this set, maybe even SE before Rock Tomb. Idk what you need to slow down when you have scarf. If theres good specific targets for it that im not thinking about then maybe keep it though.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Earthquake is a powerful STAB move with fantastic coverage, which is effective for cleaning late-game especially if the opponent lacks switch-ins to Ground moves.
  • U-turn allows Landorus-T to pivot out safely against bad matchups, since Landorus-T often forces switches thanks to Intimidate and its great Attack stat.
  • Knock Off can also capitalize on forced switches by removing items as well as giving Landorus-T a way to hit Gengar without guessing whether or not it will Mega Evolve. I'd mention some examples of items that are really good to knock off, like sitrus berry from thund/rotoms and eviolites.
  • Superpower has a chance to OHKO Mega Kangaskhan and also hits Ferrothorn harder than Earthquake. It can also OHKO Mamoswine, though Mamoswine commonly runs Focus Sash and OHKOs Landorus-T with Ice Shard if it hasn't been Intimidated.
  • Rock-type coverage complements STAB Earthquake, preventing Flying-types from freely switching in. Rock Tomb and Rock Slide are preferred for accuracy, with the former providing Speed control and the latter providing a decent flinch chance and slightly more power.
  • Stone Edge can be used to beat bulkier Thundurus reliably, but the lower accuracy can be very undesirable if using Landorus-T as a Talonflame check.

Usage Tips
========

  • Landorus-T is a very effective pivot, so it functions well as a lead. If the opponent lacks Mamoswine or if you don't know what to lead, leading with Landorus-T is generally safe since it can U-turn out of most unfavorable matchups.
  • Avoid locking into Earthquake early, especially if the opponent might have a dangerous Flying-type such as Talonflame or Mega Salamence. Even against M <- i think you forgot to finish this sentence
  • A great defensive typing and Intimidate also means that Landorus-T can often find several opportunities to switch in throughout the battle, which can help regain momentum.
  • Bringing Landorus-T in after a teammate has been KOed is also effective, as this allows it to gain momentum or revenge kill a foe.
  • Cleaning up late-game is also possible since Landorus-T has great Attack, made easier if the foe lacks any Ground immunities. i'd mention if they do have ground immunities you should try to prioritize taking those out with teammates/rock coverage if you plan on using lando as a late game finisher.
  • Landorus-T has difficulty breaking through defensive teams, especially when locked into one move, so you're usually better off not bring it against bulkier teams.
[SET]
name: Defensive
move 1: Earthquake
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Stealth Rock / Knock Off
move 4: Rock Tomb / Rock Slide(is rock slide really worth it on defensive sets? i feel like the extra damage isnt that important with no atk investment as opposed to speed control) / Knock Off
item: Rocky Helmet
ability: Intimidate
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe

Set Details
========

  • Maximum HP and Defense investment with an Impish nature makes Landorus-T as physically bulky as possible in order to check physical attackers better (i'd mention some examples here like mega kang and blaziken). The leftover EVs are placed in Speed to guarantee that Landorus-T outspeeds Jolly Mega Kangaskhan after Rock Tomb.
  • EVs can be taken out of Defense(i think taking out EVs in HP would be better) and placed in Speed to allow Landorus-T to outspeed various threats after Rock Tomb; 20 Speed EVs allow Landorus-T to outspeed Garchomp, while 60 Speed EVs allow it to outspeed everything up to Base 110 Speed.
  • Intimidate complements Landorus-T's bulk, allowing it to comfortably switch into most physical attackers without taking too much damage.
  • Rocky Helmet punishes physical attackers further and allows Landorus-T to function as a safe switch-in to Mega Kangaskhan.

Usage Tips
========

  • This set works well as a lead to try and set Stealth Rock as early as possible, and is effective at forcing switches since an opponent is likely to expect Choice Scarf Landorus-T.
  • When setting Stealth Rock is not necessary, Landorus-T still functions as an effective switch-in to physical attackers such as Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Blaziken, punishing them with Rocky Helmet damage as well as lowering their Attack.
  • Landorus-T can switch into physical attackers very liberally thanks to Intimidate and its great defensive typing, though its lack of recovery means that it can't handle entire teams by itself.
  • If Landorus-T is necessary to check a specific threat, avoid switching it in liberally since it needs to remain healthy in order to effectively check stronger physical attackers such as Mega Charizard X and Talonflame.
  • Landorus-T's lack of recovery or means to threaten defensive foes such as Cresselia and Slowbro make it a liability against defensive teams, so it's generally better to avoid bring it against such teams.
i'd try to make a mention of using u-turn effectively. when stealth rocks are up and you u-turn on predicted switches its really nice since you can sometimes force them to switch twice racking up a lot of SR damage while gaining momentum.

Team Options
========

  • Landorus-T appreciates teammates that can beat leads with Ice-type moves such as Mamoswine and Greninja, so Conkeldurr or bulky Water-types are effective teammates.
  • Bulky Water-types such as Suicune also appreciate Intimidate support and it can switch into Water- and Ice-type moves for Landorus-T, while Landorus-T can switch into Electric-type moves. Suicune can also set up with Calm Mind and Substitute against defensive threats that Landorus-T can't deal with.
  • Electric-types such as Rotom-W, Zapdos, Raikou, Rotom-W, and Mega Manectric can deal with opposing bulky Water-types that Landorus-T struggles with. Raikou and Mega Manectric also appreciates having a teammate that can come in on Ground-type moves, while the latter outspeeds Greninja after Mega Evolution.
  • Fire-types such as Blaziken, Talonflame, and Mega Charizard X appreciate Landorus-T's ability to switch into Ground- and Rock-type moves. They also appreciate Landorus-T's ability to wear down foes through Rocky Helmet damage and Stealth Rock in order to sweep more effectively. However, the added weakness to Water-types can be problematic.
  • Landorus-T pairs well with sweepers in general, including Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Lucario, and Mega Mawile, due to its great defensive typing and ability to wear down foes. i'd also mention that lando can deal with blaziken and garchomp really well, pokemon that all three of those have some trouble dealing with

[SET]
name: Assault Vest

Team Options
========

  • Bulky Water-types such as Suicune and Rotom-W are effective partners that can deal with Water- and Ice-types for Landorus-T, which also appreciate having a partner to help them take physical attacks better as well as threaten Electric-types.
  • Paralysis support is very useful for Landorus-T due to its slightly below average Speed, especially if you're not running Rock Tomb. Thundurus, Serperior, Ferrothorn, and Zapdos are all effective partners that can offer this support. They're also all effective against bulky Water-types which give Landorus-T a difficult time.
  • Mega Kangaskhan appreciates having a teammate that can beat Fighting-types such as Blaziken, and Assault Vest allows Landorus-T to more effectively switch into special Mega Lucario.
  • Strong setup sweepers such as Talonflame, Mega Blaziken, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Mawile appreciate having a sturdy switch-in like Landorus-T(i'd put some examples here of common mons you'd want to switch lando in on), with the former three all dealing with Ferrothorn and Skarmory. Landorus-T can also U-turn after a faster foe attacks to let them come in safely, especially if Landorus-T forgoes Speed investment.
  • This Landorus-T is effective as part of a VoltTurn core, so common users of Volt Switch and U-turn such as Rotom-W, Scizor, Mega Manectric and Raikou pair well with Landorus-T.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Swords Dance can be used with a Focus Sash to let Landorus-T function as a sweeper, though its Speed is lacking for a sweeper and this still leaves it vulnerable to being revenge killed.
  • Choice Band allows Landorus-T to function as a powerful wallbreaker thanks to its huge Attack and decent Speed. However, this is generally outclassed by Garchomp which has a better Speed tier and usable secondary STAB.
  • Toxic can be used on the defensive set in order to cripple other walls such as Cresselia or Hippowdon that otherwise don't mind switching into Landorus-T.
  • Landorus-T has an acceptable Base 105 Special Attack to utilize Hidden Power Ice, which can be an effective lure since Landorus-T usually can't do much to an opposing Landorus-T. It can also surprise Garchomp and Mega Salamence though it has no other targets beyond them.
  • Yache Berry can be used to survive Ice-type coverage moves such as Hidden Power Ice from Thundurus or Ice Punch from Tyranitar, though unless you wish to run Stealth Rock, Assault Vest is generally better.
maybe add fissure? it sees pretty little use but OHKO moves are always pretty ok, it could maybe work on AV/helmet sets as a way to punish p2/cune/ferro switchins.
sorry for the big delay on this. just have a few comments in bold, nice job man.

Implemented, thanks NOVED! I personally like Rock Tomb on Scarf since it covers several bases against Talonflame while still keeping some momentum for its teammate if they switch out. I'll see what others think though. I also like the option of Rock Slide on the Defensive set since Lando-T is decently fast for a defensive mon so it can flinch stuff in an emergency, and Rock Slide chips against stuff a little better. Unlike Rock Tomb it's also a guaranteed 2HKO on 252 HP Talon if it Wisps you in case it's a situation where it might be able to stall you with some lucky rolls, whereas Rock Tomb is a roll (like 40% iirc). Made extra note that Rock Tomb is generally better though, but more thoughts on that would be nice.

Now this is all written up so this is ready for the final check. I know Theorymon you've said you're not sure if it's okay to QC something you've written a set skeleton for though tagging you just in case. Also tagging cant say Demantoid Hulavuta DragonWhale

I think Rock Tomb should be dropped from the Scarf set, I get that it catches switchins and makes it easier for a slower teammate to come in and do work, but it kinda defeats the purpose of the Scarf (hit hard and fast) and if you want speed control you should be using a bulkier Lando anyway...

Defensive should have 20 speed to get by Garchomp after a Rock Tomb so you aren't 2HKOed before actually beating them.

Are AssVest sets usually fast? I haven't seen many so I honestly don't know, but I thought they'd be slower with more bulk.

Everything else looks great. 3/3

I'd run atleast enough bulk to live this and 2HKO with Rock Tomb.

I looked into it more but couldn't find a lot of consistency among AV spreads so I wasn't sure what to list as the spread. 28 SpD is all you need for LO Thundurus HP Ice (Modest Scarf Rotom-W Hydro Pump is also 6.3% chance to OHKO but you don't 1v1 that), but I feel like a bulky spread might want more bulk than just that. 92 Spe hits everything up to positive base 115 Pokemon after Rock Tomb as well which is a useful benchmark, so 136 HP / 252 Att / 28 SpD / 92 Spe works, otherwise I'll just put 252 Att / 28 SpD / 228 Spe there for now. I will wait on thoughts on this before sending this to get GP checked though.

As for the other mentions, I was going to remove Rock Tomb despite my disagreement on it, but while researching AV Lando-T spreads on the S16 teams, I actually did see Rock Tomb on Scarf Lando-T up there and not just Stone Edge and Rock Slide variants. Given that Rock Tomb is the most common Rock-type move on Lando-T in general I still think it has merit it in being mentioned on Scarf. I could just remove the Rock Tomb slash from the main set and still keep the brief mention in the Moves section if that's better (that's currently what I've changed there) but I still don't agree with removing it completely.

Also edited the Helmet Lando-T EVs, we've talked about it already but I did note that most of the Helmet ones last season did have at least 20 Speed (oddly enough the highest rated Lando-T team last season actually ran no Speed Helmet so I guess he didn't care about Chomp), but yeah this was a discussion we had like last month and I was too lazy to edit it until you checked this.

Once this all gets settled I'll get this sent to GP so that Lando-T can finally get finished up.

Psynergy yeah I'm fine with removing the slash but keeping Rock Tomb mentioned in moves on Scarf. I like the first spread you came up with for AV (136 HP / 252 Att / 28 SpD / 92 Spe) so use that imo

What's the point of running that Special Defense investment when you are investing into HP anyway?
That is a fair point, we don't really need that SpDef if we invest in HP.

Made it a 164 HP / 252 Att / 92 Spe spread instead and mentioned the 28 SpD in Set Details if you want a faster Lando-T instead, so this should be ready now.

[OVERVIEW]

Landorus-T provides great utility and power that allows it to serve a variety of roles on a team, such as revenge killing or checking the many powerful physical attackers in the format. Intimidate and a great typing both offensively and defensively make Landorus-T an excellent pivot, which helps it switch into many threats and maintain momentum for its team thanks to U-turn. Coverage moves such as Superpower and Knock Off also allow it beat major threats such as Mega Kangaskhan and Gengar. Landorus-T can also utilize a defensive support-oriented(+hyphen) set as a result if of its typing and Intimidate, which is very useful in a format dominated by physical attackers. However, a crippling Ice-type(+hyphen) weakness means that checking Landorus-T isn't difficult, and many common threats such as Cresselia, Suicune, Thundurus, Blaziken, and Greninja are known to carry Ice-type(+hyphen) moves for it. Furthermore, Landorus-T's most common and effective set utilizes Choice Scarf, which means it can often be played around, which is particularly dangerous since because locking into Earthquake gives a free switch-in to many dangerous Flying-types and Levitate Pokemon.

Moves
========

Earthquake is a powerful STAB move with fantastic coverage, which is effective for cleaning late-game especially if the opponent lacks switch-ins to Ground-type(+hyphen) moves. Knock Off gives Landorus-T a way to hit Gengar as well,(-comma) without needing to guess whether or not Gengar will Mega Evolve. Superpower has a chance to OHKO Mega Kangaskhan and also hits Ferrothorn harder than Earthquake. It can also OHKO Mamoswine, though Mamoswine commonly runs Focus Sash and OHKOes Landorus-T with Ice Shard if it hasn't been Intimidated. Rock-type coverage complements STAB Earthquake well, preventing Flying-types from freely switching in. Rock Slide is preferred for its accuracy and the chance to flinch the foe, while Stone Edge allows Landorus-T to beat bulkier Thundurus reliably at the cost of lower accuracy. Stone Edge's lower accuracy can be very undesirable if using Landorus-T as a Talonflame check though. Rock Tomb is also an option that doesn't give up as much momentum as Rock Slide or Stone Edge if an opponent switches into it,(+comma) since it can help a teammate outspeed a faster foe, though the Speed drop doesn't help Landorus-T much.

Set Details
========

Intimidate is the only ability for Landorus-T, but this allows it to switch into the many physical attackers in the format more comfortably, increasing its effectiveness as a pivot. An Adamant nature is preferred for the extra power and is necessary for the chance to OHKO Mega Kangaskhan, and the power in general allows Landorus-T to revenge kill and clean more effectively late-game. A Jolly nature allows Landorus-T to outspeed Adamant Mega Charizard X after a Dragon Dance and prevents Life Orb Blaziken from outspeeding it after one Speed Boost, though Adamant is generally better unless outspeeding these threats is preferable.

Usage Tips
========

Landorus-T is a very effective pivot, so it functions well as a lead. If the opponent lacks Mamoswine or if you don't know what to lead with, leading with Landorus-T is generally safe,(+comma) since it can U-turn out of most unfavorable matchups. Avoid locking into Earthquake early as well, especially if the opponent might have a dangerous Flying-type such as Talonflame or Mega Salamence. A great defensive typing and Intimidate also means that Landorus-T can often find several opportunities to switch in throughout the battle, which can help regain momentum. Bringing Landorus-T in after a teammate has been KOed is also effective, as this allows it to gain momentum or revenge kill a foe. Cleaning up late-game is also possible,(+comma) since Landorus-T has great Attack, which is made easier if the foe lacks any Ground-type(+hyphen) immunities, though removing threats immune to Ground-type should always be a priority regardless. Landorus-T has difficulty breaking through defensive teams though, especially when locked into one move, so you're usually better off not bring it against bulkier teams.

Team Options
========

Suicune covers Landorus-T's Ice-(+hyphen) and Water-type(+hyphen) weaknesses while Landorus-T is immune to Electric-type moves. Suicune also appreciates the Intimidate support to handle physical attackers more effectively. Mega Gengar can trap Cresselia,(+comma) which is a threat for Landorus-T, since it usually can't beat Cresselia on its own and it often runs Ice Beam to beat Landorus-T. Setup sweepers appreciate Intimidate support from Landorus-T; Blaziken, Mega Charizard X, Talonflame, Scizor, and Mega Kangaskhan all have an easier time setting up against an Intimidated physical attacker. Landorus-T also has an easier time cleaning up afterwards if its partner couldn't finish the job. Scizor in particular also creates and effective VoltTurn core with Landorus-T and appreciates its ability to threaten opposing Fire-types, which otherwise switch into Scizor easily. Ferrothorn is a reliable partner for U-turning into, since Iron Barbs and Rocky Helmet can punish physical attackers even further, and it can reliably deal with Water-types.

Moves
========

Earthquake provides Landorus-T with a powerful and accurate STAB move that still does a lot of damage uninvested. U-turn allows it to pivot out of difficult matchups more effectively and maintain momentum after setting Stealth Rock, which provides useful support for offensive sweepers such as Volcarona and Blaziken that hate (fighting? facing?) Talonflame. Not all teams need this Stealth Rock support though, so Knock Off can be used instead for the utility of removing a foe's item. While Stealth Rock deters Talonflame, Rock Tomb can be used to prevent Talonflame from attempting to set up on Landorus-T while also lowering the Speed of any foe switching in, making it easier for Landorus-T or a teammate to deal with it. Rock Slide offers more power at the cost of accuracy if the speed control isn't necessary, though Rock Tomb is generally a better option. If covering Talonflame is not a concern, Knock Off and Stealth Rock can be used together.

Set Details
========

The given EVs maximize physical bulk while ensuring that Landorus-T outspeeds Garchomp after Rock Tomb. An Impish nature is used in order to check physical attackers better, such as the aforementioned Garchomp, and Mega Kangaskhan,(+comma) and Mega Blaziken. Investing in more Speed allows Landorus-T to outspeed various threats after Rock Tomb,(-comma) at the cost of bulk; 60 Speed EVs allows Landorus-T to outspeed everything up to Base base 110 Speed after Rock Tomb, while 92 Speed EVs allows it to outspeed Pokemon with up to Base base 115 Pokemon Speed after Rock Tomb. Intimidate complements Landorus-T's bulk, allowing it to comfortably switch into most physical attackers without taking too much damage. Rocky Helmet punishes physical attackers further and allows Landorus-T to function as a safe switch-in to Mega Kangaskhan.

Usage Tips
========

This set works well as a lead to try and set Stealth Rock as early as possible,(-comma) and is effective at forcing switches since because an opponent is likely to expect Landorus-T to be running Choice Scarf. Landorus-T wants to force as many switches as possible to rack up more Stealth Rock damage, so using U-turn after setting Stealth Rock helps Landorus-T wear down the opposing team,(+comma) since as it can often force another switch,(-comma) while maintaining momentum. If Landorus-T is necessary to check a specific threat, avoid switching it in liberally, since it needs to remain healthy in order to effectively check stronger physical attackers such as Mega Charizard X and Talonflame. Landorus-T's lack of recovery or means to threaten defensive foes such as Cresselia and Slowbro make it a liability against defensive teams, so it's generally better to avoid bringing it against such teams.

Team Options
========

Landorus-T appreciates teammates that can beat leads with Ice-type moves such as Mamoswine and Greninja, so Conkeldurr or bulky Water-types are effective teammates. Electric-types such as Rotom-W, Zapdos, Raikou, Rotom-W,(-comma) and Mega Manectric can deal with opposing bulky Water-types that Landorus-T struggles to beat. Raikou and Mega Manectric also appreciate having a teammate that can come in on Ground-type moves, while and the latter outspeeds Greninja after Mega Evolving.

Moves
========

Earthquake is a powerful STAB move that does huge damage to anything that doesn't resist it. U-turn allows Landorus-T to function as an effective pivot and escape difficult matchups, which works well against the switches that it often forces. Knock Off allows Landorus-T to punish switches by removing the foe's item and lets it hit Gengar and Cresselia harder. Superpower can be used to hit Mega Kangaskhan and Ferrothorn harder and has a chance to OHKO the former with an Adamant nature. Rock Tomb is effective for lowering the Speed of a switch-in so that Landorus-T can beat an otherwise faster foe itself, which helps Landorus-T's otherwise average Speed. Stone Edge is much more powerful at the cost of being more inaccurate, though this allows Landorus-T to beat bulky Thundurus more reliably. Rock Slide is a middle ground option that's more accurate than Stone Edge while still being more powerful than Rock Tomb. The chance to flinch an opponent can also get Landorus-T out of tight situations.

Set Details
========

The given EVs allow Landorus-T to hit as hard as possible,(-comma) while allowing it to outspeed all Pokemon up to Base base 115 Speed after Rock Tomb. The remaining EVs are placed in HP to increase Landorus-T's bulk to helps it survive stronger special attacks, such as Hidden Power Ice from Life Orb Thundurus or Overheat from Timid Mega Charizard Y. If a faster Landorus-T is preferred, a spread of 252 Att Atk / 28 SpD / 228 Spe should be used so that Life Orb Thundurus can't OHKO Landorus-T with Hidden Power Ice. Assault Vest allows Landorus-T to function as pivot with mixed bulk combined with Intimidate reducing a foe's Attack. This is effective at luring common users of Hidden Power Ice that otherwise can OHKO Landorus-T. An Adamant nature boosts Landorus-T's Attack further and is preferred,(+comma) since it can use Rock Tomb to help it outspeed foes regardless. A Jolly nature doesn't help Landorus-T outspeed many threats, though it does allow it to outspeed Adamant Mega Charizard X, Modest Volcarona, and Timid Rotom-A.

Usage Tips
========

Assault Vest Landorus-T has the bulk to switch into both physical and special attackers, so it functions as an effective pivot. Landorus-T is a tank, so it should take advantage of its great typing and mixed bulk in order to switch into threats and retaliate with its strong attacks. Many threats rely on strong special attacks to beat Landorus-T since because they aren't affected by Intimidate, so Assault Vest is effective for letting it surprise these special attackers. This includes common users of Hiddden Power Ice such as Thundurus, Volcarona, and Life Orb Blaziken, as well as generally powerful special attackers like Hydreigon and Sylveon. Most opponents expect Choice Scarf from Landorus-T, so bluffing Choice Scarf can be particularly effective against Flying-types such as Dragonite and Talonflame that think they have a free turn to set up after switching into Earthquake. This also makes Landorus-T a safe lead,(+comma) since Choice Scarf Landorus-T is also commonly used as a lead, which is effective at forcing switches.

Team Options
========

Bulky Water-types such as Suicune and Rotom-W are effective partners that can deal with Water- and Ice-types for Landorus-T,(-comma) which also and appreciate having a partner to help them take physical attacks better as well as threaten Electric-types. Paralysis support is very useful for Landorus-T due to its average Speed, especially if you're not running Rock Tomb. Thundurus, Serperior, Ferrothorn, and Zapdos are all effective partners that can offer this support. They're also all effective against bulky Water-types which that give Landorus-T a difficult time. Mega Kangaskhan appreciates having a teammate that can beat Fighting-types such as Blaziken, and Assault Vest allows Landorus-T to more effectively switch into special Mega Lucario. Strong setup sweepers such as Talonflame, Mega Blaziken, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Mawile appreciate Landorus-T's ability to switch into threats such as Thundurus and Heatran, with the former three all dealing with Ferrothorn and Skarmory. Landorus-T can also U-turn after a faster foe attacks to let them come in safely, especially if Landorus-T forgoes Speed investment. This Landorus-T is effective as part of a VoltTurn core thanks to its bulk, so common users of Volt Switch and U-turn such as Rotom-W, Scizor, Mega Manectric,(+comma) and Raikou pair well with Landorus-T.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Stealth Rock allows Landorus-T to support powerful setup sweepers that appreciate the ability to break Focus Sash and rack up extra damage, which is generally easy to set up thanks to Focus Sash. Earthquake is Landorus-T's main STAB move, dealing a lot of damage to most unresisted threats. Explosion is a last resort that is best used after Focus Sash has been used, dealing huge damage to anything that doesn't resist it while allowing a teammate to come in on the next turn without taking damage. U-turn can get Landorus-T out of difficult situations with certain leads such as Breloom or Rotom-W,(-comma) and is generally useful or scouting if you wish to preserve Landorus-T for later in the game. Knock Off removes problematic items such as Rocky Helmet and Eviolite and hits Gengar hard, while Superpower can be used to hit Mega Kangaskhan.

Set Details
========

Focus Sash might appear unnecessary considering Landorus-T's impressive bulk, but it nearly guarantees that you can set set up Stealth Rock against any common lead other than Mamoswine. Focus Sash is also useful for revenge killing foes that Landorus-T normally can't beat, such as Mega Charizard Y, Volcarona, and Greninja. Maximum Attack and Speed investment with an Adamant nature(+space)is ideal for the most power, and with a Focus Sash there's little need for defensive investment,(+comma) since setting Stealth Rock is the primary goal of this set. However, a Jolly nature can be used in order to outspeed Adamant Mega Kangaskhan, Adamant Mega Charizard X, and Modest Volcarona.

Usage Tips
========

Setting up Stealth Rock is often the main priority, especially if you need it for certain sweepers to take down Talonflame, but saving Landorus-T for later can also be advantageous to safely revenge kill a foe. While Landorus-T is still useful beyond the utility of its Focus Sash, Mamoswine leads are a huge issue,(+comma) so benching Landorus-T is fine if you see them it (I presume you are referring to Mamoswine in the team preview here) at team preview. If running U-turn, make sure to capitalize on the momentum it provides since because Landorus-T forces a lot of switches. It's also useful for getting sweepers in safely, especially after setting Stealth Rock,(+comma) since this might force another switch and rack up more damage. If running Explosion, don't be afraid to explode immediately after setting Stealth Rock if it can put a sweeper in the position to clean up quickly.

Team Options
========

This Landorus-T set is best paired with setup sweepers, since they great appreciate the Stealth Rock damage and surprise KOs that Landorus-T can get for them. Rotom-W helps a lot with Mamoswine, Safety Goggles Aegislash completely walls Breloom, and Mega Venusaur deals with both of them thanks to Thick Fat and immunity to Spore. While Ferrothorn is weak to Fighting-type(+hyphen) moves, it can help check Breloom with a combination of Iron Barbs damage and Gyro Ball.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Swords Dance can be used with a Focus Sash to let Landorus-T function as a sweeper, though its Speed is lacking for a sweeper and this still leaves it vulnerable to being revenge killed. Choice Band allows Landorus-T to function as a powerful wallbreaker thanks to its huge Attack and decent Speed. However, this it is generally outclassed by Garchomp,(+comma) which has a better Speed tier and usable secondary STAB moves. Toxic can be used on the defensive set in order to cripple other walls such as Cresselia or Hippowdon that otherwise don't mind switching into Landorus-T without much trouble. Landorus-T has an acceptable Base base 105 Special Attack to utilize Hidden Power Ice, which can be an effective lure,(+comma) since Landorus-T usually can't do much to an opposing Landorus-T. It can also surprise Garchomp and Mega Salamence,(+comma) though it has no other targets beyond them. Yache Berry can be used to survive Ice-type coverage moves such as Hidden Power Ice from Thundurus or Ice Punch from Tyranitar, though unless you wish to run Stealth Rock, Assault Vest is generally better. Fissure can be used on Assault Vest sets and defensive sets to punish bulky threats that might otherwise be completely safe to switch in, such as Suicune, Ferrothorn, and Porygon2, though it's difficult to fit it on a set.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Suicune, Rotom-W, and Mega Slowbro can take anything from Landorus-T and retaliate with their respective Water-type STABs moves or even Ice Beam. Rotom-W in particular is immune to Earthquake, can still burn Assault Vest variants, and doesn't fear anything from Landorus-T except losing its item to Knock Off.

**Ice-type Moves**: Ice-type moves are very common on many top threats for dealing with Garchomp, so Landorus-T has a difficult time against common users of these moves. Bulky Water-types, Cresselia, Greninja, Mamoswine, Zapdos, Thundurus, Porygon2, Gengar, and even Blaziken are all viable users of Ice-type moves that can beat Landorus-T. However, more offensive threats must be wary of Assault Vest variants since because they often hit Landorus-T's Special Defense.

**Mega Heracross**: Mega Heracross resists all of Landorus-T's common moves bar Rock-type moves and is generally bulky enough to switch and 2HKO offensive variants with Rock Blast or Bullet Seed. Unlike many physical attackers, it also doesn't fear Rocky Helmet since neither move makes contact.

**Physical Walls**: While Landorus-T has a huge Attack stat, it has trouble breaking through physically bulky threats since because it rarely runs boosting moves or items. Cresselia, Porygon2, Gliscor, Mega Venusaur, Skarmory, Hippowdon, Ferrothorn, and even opposing Landorus-T can be difficult for Landorus-T to break through unless they've been weakened already. However, Porygon2 and Ferrothorn don't enjoy switching into Superpower,(+comma) so it can still break through physically bulky foes if you aren't careful. (I don't think "if you aren't careful" is really necessary here. What is there to be careful of if it can break through these two physically bulky foes?)

**Strong Special Attackers**: Landorus-T often relies on Intimidate to check physical attackers, but it has no way to deal with special attackers if it doesn't have an Assault Vest,(+comma) so it has trouble dealing taking powerful special attacks. Special Mega Salamence, Serperior, and Hydreigon can all give Landorus-T a difficult time, especially Choice Scarf variants that locked into the wrong move. Locking into Earthquake can also give the likes of Latios and Mega Charizard Y an easy turn to hit Landorus-T hard.

[OVERVIEW]

Landorus-T provides great utility and power that allows allow it to serve a variety of roles on a team, such as revenge killing or checking the many powerful physical attackers in the format. Furthermore, Landorus-T's most common and effective set utilizes Choice Scarf, which means it can often be played around, which is particularly dangerous because locking into Earthquake gives a free switch in (RH) to many dangerous Flying-types and Levitate Pokemon.

Moves
========

Earthquake is a powerful STAB move with fantastic coverage, which that is effective for cleaning late-game especially if the opponent lacks switch-ins to Ground-type moves. It can also OHKO Mamoswine, though Mamoswine commonly runs Focus Sash and OHKOes Landorus-T with Ice Shard if it hasn't been affected by Intimidated. Rock-type coverage complements STAB Earthquake well, preventing Flying-types from freely switching in. Rock Slide is preferred for its accuracy and the flinch chance to flinch the foe, while Stone Edge allows Landorus-T to beat bulkier Thundurus reliably at the cost of lower accuracy. Stone Edge's lower accuracy can be very undesirable if using Landorus-T as a Talonflame check, (AC) though. Rock Tomb is also an option that doesn't give up as much momentum as Rock Slide or Stone Edge if an opponent enemy switches into it, since it can help a teammate outspeed a faster foe, though the Speed drop doesn't help Landorus-T much.

Set Details
========

Intimidate is the only ability for Landorus-T, but allows it Landorus-T to switch into the many physical attackers in the format more comfortably, increasing its effectiveness as a pivot. An Adamant nature is preferred for the extra power and is necessary for the chance to OHKO Mega Kangaskhan, and the power in general allows Landorus-T to revenge kill and clean more effectively late-game. Alternatively, (AC) a Jolly nature allows Landorus-T to outspeed Adamant Mega Charizard X after a Dragon Dance and prevents Life Orb Blaziken from outspeeding it after one Speed Boost, though Adamant is generally better unless outspeeding these threats is preferable.

Usage Tips
========

Cleaning up late-game is also possible, since Landorus-T has great Attack, which is made easier if the foe lacks any Ground-type immunities Ground-immune Pokemon, though removing threats immune to Ground-type should always be a priority regardless. Landorus-T has difficulty breaking through defensive teams, (AC) though, especially when locked into one move, so you're usually better off not bring it against bulkier teams.

Team Options
========

Suicune covers Landorus-T's Ice- and Water-type weaknesses while Landorus-T is immune to Electric-type moves. Suicune also appreciates the Intimidate support to handle physical attackers more effectively. Mega Gengar can trap Cresselia, which is a threat for Landorus-T, since it usually can't beat Cresselia on its own and it often runs Ice Beam to beat Landorus-T. Setup sweepers appreciate Intimidate support from Landorus-T; Blaziken, Mega Charizard X, Talonflame, Scizor, and Mega Kangaskhan all have an easier time setting up against an Intimidated weakened physical attacker. Ferrothorn is a reliable partner for U-turning into, since Iron Barbs and Rocky Helmet can punish physical attackers even further, and it can reliably deal with Water-types.

Not all teams need this Stealth Rock support, (AC) though, so Knock Off can be used instead for the utility of removing a foe's item. While Stealth Rock deters Talonflame (from switching in?), Rock Tomb can be used to prevent Talonflame from attempting to set up on Landorus-T while also lowering the Speed of any foe switching in, making it easier for Landorus-T or a teammate to deal with it. Rock Slide offers more power at the cost of accuracy if the speed control isn't necessary, though Rock Tomb is generally a better option. If covering Talonflame is not a concern, Knock Off and Stealth Rock can be used together.

This Landorus-T is effective as part of a VoltTurn core thanks to its bulk, so common users of Volt Switch and U-turn such as Rotom-W, Scizor, Mega Manectric, and Raikou pair well with Landorus-T it.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock allows Landorus-T to support powerful setup sweepers that appreciate the its ability to break Focus Sash and rack up extra damage, which is generally easy to set up thanks to Focus Sash. Earthquake is Landorus-T's main STAB move, usually dealing a lot of damage to most when unresisted threats. Explosion is a last-resort (AH) option that is best used after Focus Sash has been used, (or broken? "used" seems to imply knocked down to 1hp specifically) dealing huge damage to anything that doesn't resist it while allowing a teammate to come in on the next turn without taking damage. U-turn can get Landorus-T out of difficult situations with certain leads such as Breloom or and Rotom-W and is generally useful or scouting if you wish to preserve Landorus-T for later in the game. Knock Off removes problematic items such as Rocky Helmet and Eviolite and hits Gengar hard, while Superpower can be used to hit Mega Kangaskhan.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed investment with an Adamant nature is ideal for the most power, and with a Focus Sash there's little need for defensive investment, since setting Stealth Rock is the primary goal of this set. However, a Jolly nature can be used in order to outspeed Adamant Mega Kangaskhan, Adamant Mega Charizard X, and Modest Volcarona.

Usage Tips
========

If running U-turn, make sure to capitalize on the momentum it provides, (AC) because Landorus-T forces a lot of switches. It's also useful for getting sweepers in safely, especially after setting Stealth Rock, since this might force another switch and rack up more damage. If running Explosion, don't be afraid to explode use it immediately after setting Stealth Rock if it can put a sweeper in the position to clean up quickly.

Team Options
========

This Landorus-T set is best paired with setup sweepers, since they great appreciate the Stealth Rock damage and surprise KOs that Landorus-T can get for them.

=============

Toxic can be used on the defensive set in order to cripple other walls such as Cresselia or and Hippowdon that otherwise don't mind switching into Landorus-T without much trouble. Yache Berry can be used to survive Ice-type coverage moves such as Hidden Power Ice from Thundurus or and Ice Punch from Tyranitar, though unless you wish to run Stealth Rock, Assault Vest is generally better. Fissure can be used on Assault Vest sets and defensive sets to punish bulky threats that might otherwise be completely safe able to switch in completely safely, such as Suicune, Ferrothorn, and Porygon2, though it's difficult to fit it on a set.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Suicune, Rotom-W, and Mega Slowbro can take anything from Landorus-T and retaliate with their respective Water-type STAB moves or even Ice Beam. Rotom-W in particular is immune to Earthquake, can still burn Assault Vest variants, and doesn't fear anything from Landorus-T except losing its item to Knock Off.

However, more offensive threats must be wary of Assault Vest variants because they often hit Landorus-T's Special Defense.

**Mega Heracross**: Mega Heracross resists all of Landorus-T's common moves bar Rock-type moves and is generally bulky enough to switch and 2HKO offensive variants with Rock Blast or Bullet Seed. Unlike many physical attackers, it also doesn't fear Rocky Helmet, (AC) since neither move makes contact.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Landorus-T often relies on Intimidate to check physical attackers, but it has no way to deal with special attackers take powerful speical attacks if it doesn't have an Assault Vest, so it has trouble taking powerful special attacks. (or change "so" to "as" and keep it as is but bleh) Mixed Mega Salamence, Serperior, and Hydreigon can all give Landorus-T a difficult time, especially Choice Scarf variants that are locked into the wrong move. Locking into Earthquake can also give the likes of Latios and Mega Charizard Y an easy turn to hit Landorus-T hard.

Moves
========

Earthquake is a powerful STAB move with fantastic coverage that is effective for cleaning late-game, (AC) especially if the opponent lacks switch-ins to Ground-type moves.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Cleaning up late-game is also possible, since Landorus-T has great Attack, which is made easier if the foe opponent lacks any Ground-immune Pokemon, though removing threats immune to Ground-type moves should always be a priority regardless. Landorus-T has difficulty breaking through defensive teams, though, especially when locked into one move, so you're usually better off not bringing it against bulkier teams.

Team Options
========

Suicune covers Landorus-T's Ice- and Water-type weaknesses while Landorus-T is immune to Electric-type moves. Suicune also appreciates the Intimidate support to handle physical attackers more effectively. Mega Gengar can trap Cresselia, which is a threat for Landorus-T, since it usually can't beat Cresselia on its own and it often runs Ice Beam to beat Landorus-T, and Landorus-T usually can't beat Cresselia on its own anyway. (Had a little trouble with this one, but there were too many uses of "it") Setup sweepers appreciate Intimidate support from Landorus-T; Blaziken, Mega Charizard X, Talonflame, Scizor, and Mega Kangaskhan all have an easier time setting up against a weakened physical attacker. Ferrothorn is a reliable partner for U-turning pivoting into, since Iron Barbs and Rocky Helmet can punish physical attackers even further, and it can reliably deal with Water-types.

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

This set works well as a lead to try and to set Stealth Rock as early as possible and is effective at forcing switches because an opponent is likely to expect Landorus-T to be running Choice Scarf. If Landorus-T is necessary to check a specific threat, avoid switching it in liberally too much, (repetition) since it needs to remain healthy in order to effectively check stronger physical attackers such as Mega Charizard X and Talonflame effectively. (subjective) Landorus-T's lack of recovery or means to threaten defensive foes such as Cresselia and Slowbro make it a liability against defensive teams, so it's generally better to avoid bringing it against such teams.

Team Options
========

Moves
========

Stone Edge is much more powerful at the cost of being less more inaccurate, and it notably allows Landorus-T to beat bulky Thundurus more reliably. Rock Slide is a middle ground option that's more accurate than Stone Edge while still being more powerful than Rock Tomb. The flinch chance can also get Landorus-T out of tight situations.

Set Details
========

A Jolly nature doesn't help Landorus-T outspeed many threats, though it does allow it to outspeed Adamant Mega Charizard X, Modest Volcarona, and Timid Rotom-A. (I thought this term died after DPP. You should probably specify the Rotom formes anyway.)

Usage Tips
========

========

Mega Kangaskhan appreciates having a teammate that can beat Fighting-types such as Blaziken, and Assault Vest allows Landorus-T to more effectively switch into special Mega Lucario more effectively. (subjective) Strong setup sweepers such as Talonflame, Mega Blaziken, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Mawile appreciate Landorus-T's ability to switch into threats such as Thundurus and Heatran, with the former three all dealing with Ferrothorn and Skarmory.

Back from vacation so I went ahead and implemented all of the above, the general "neutral-natured" mention instead of specifying nature on all separate Pokemon does flows more smoothly imo

I was also told Rotom-A was acceptable use in a previous analysis but I changed that to "Rotom-W and Rotom-H."

But yeah, that should about wrap up the Landorus-T analysis. As kamikaze said, it really is about time.
