OU Serperior

p2

Banned deucer.
Here's the old grass snake.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Contrary is the biggest thing about it, essentially allowing it to gain a free +2 boost in Special Attack every time it uses its strongest STAB attack, Leaf Storm
  • It's pretty fast too, 113 Speed is pretty good and outpaces a good deal of notable threats such as the Mega Diancie, Landorus-I, Gengar, etc.
  • Its STAB is pretty decent to handle common Water and Ground-types such as Azumarill, Hippowdon, Tapu Fini, etc.
  • Its coverage is lacking but passable
  • It's modestly bulky and also has good utility moves such as Glare and Leech Seed that give it some usage in being slightly annoying as well
  • It's fast but still slower than other notable threats such as Pheromosa and Tapu Koko, which is disappointing
  • Is rather easy to wall with threats such as Heatran and Mega Venusaur, so it needs support to effectively sweep
  • Its typing gives it some pretty bad weaknesses and leaves it vulnerable to threats such as Weavile and Pheromosa
  • It's also pretty weak without any boosts, its SpA is quite meh
  • Because of this, it's far from invincible and needs support to be able to function at its best

[SET]
name: SubSeed
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Leech Seed
move 3: Leaf Storm
move 4: Hidden Power Fire
item: Leftovers
ability: Contrary
nature: Timid
evs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Substitute is pretty good for dodging status moves such as Toxic, but it also eases prediction against switch-ins and allows Serperior to play a bit more safely against faster threats if need be
  • Leech Seed is an annoying move that can drain a bit of HP from the opponent for recovery for Serp mention leech targets
  • Leaf Storm is a strong STAB move and it hits hard and gives a boost
  • HP Fire is for Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn, also hits bigs like Buzzwole and Pheromosa on a potential switch-in
  • HP Ground is also good since otherwise Serp can't do anything to Heatran
  • Hyper Beam with Normalium Z is a viable option since it can hit a potential Grass switch-in such as Mega Venusaur very hard without the recharge expense this is supposed to be for the offensive set
point of subseed is to beat things like tran/chans through subseeding, no point in hp ground here

Set Details
========
  • EV spread allows Serp to survive one Hydro Pump behind a Sub from Rotom-W, otherwise gives it a pretty good Sub number and the rest into Special Attack and Speed
  • Contrary is a given, considering that comprises Serperior's niche
  • Leftovers provides passive recovery

Usage Tips
========
  • This set is meant to be a massive annoyer with its access to Sub and Leech Seed, and high Speed
  • With such a set, it can hide behind a Sub and drain little bits of its opponent's HP every turn, giving it decent staying power
  • Keep it away from Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss (ie things that block Leech Seed and wall Serp)
  • Leaf Storm is a safe move to spam behind a Sub, and with its boosts Serp can become a pretty formidable threat if its counters are removed, so it can sweep well too in the late-game
  • Remove all of Serperior's counters as this set functions best late in the game.

Team Options
========
  • Tapu Bulu is a great choice since it provides Grassy Terrain, which is great for Serp to boost the power of Leaf Storm and give it additional passive recovery. It also has offensive sets that can lure in Heatran with Superpower or Brick Break
  • Landorus-T is a pretty good partner since it can take on threats such as M-Scizor (alright abr), Heatran, and to an extent some Pheromosa decently and sets up Rocks and U-turn no mentions of lando baiting in rotom-w like hell?
  • Fairies such as Togekiss and Azumarill can check Pheromosa and also take on some of Serp's answers such as Mega Venusaur and Heatran, respectively
  • Toxapex is also passable since it deals with Pheromosa well mantine too, its also not passive dix v tran.
  • Buzzwole is a decent teammate for luring in Heatran and also handling Pheromosa is it really a lure? it sounds like you're advocating fast buzzwole, which loses to phero.
  • Tapu Koko is also a workable teammate since it has U-turn/Volt Switch to provide momentum, not to mention it can deal with Tornadus-T, Skarm, Celesteela, and such decently and also has high Speed to revenge kill.
  • Heatran can set up Rocks and handle Steel-types and Genesect.
nothing for beating weavile? no general psychic type mentions for venu/amoong?

[SET]
name: Offensive
move 1: Leaf Storm
move 2: Hidden Power Fire
move 3: Glare / Dragon Pulse
move 4: Glare / Substitute / Taunt
item: Leftovers / Life Orb
ability: Contrary
nature: Timid
evs: 8 HP / 248 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Leaf Storm is strong, hits hard, good STAB, and boosts SpA via Contrary
  • Hidden Power Fire helps with Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and to an extent Amoonguss and Tangrowth
  • Glare can paralyze something that switches in to cripple them for the match
  • Dragon Pulse is decent because it has good neutral coverage and also hits Dragons such as Latis and Dragonite for extra good damage, though it's relatively weak
  • Giga Drain is a decently powerful STAB that works as recovery, works with LO
  • Taunt makes Serp into a pretty good stallbreaker by blocking status or recovery moves, and also preventing hazard setup
  • Synthesis can work alongside Substitute to keep Serp healthy consistently as reliable recovery
  • Knock Off works as a utility move to cripple switch-ins such as Heatran and Dragonite potentially
hp ground deserves a mention on this set tho

Set Details
========
  • The set invests 8 HP to allow Serperior to survive one Sacred Sword guaranteed from Keldeo even with Rocks taken into account
  • The rest is into SpA and Speed so Serp can sweep
  • Leftovers can provide passive recovery if needed, but Life Orb provides additional power which can help Serp hit harder, albeit at the cost of recoil. The latter works well with Giga Drain since Giga Drain provides some recovery to compensate

Usage Tips
========
  • This set is a late game cleaner first and foremost, so weaken potential counters such as Mega Venusaur, Heatran, and Celesteela before you try sweeping
  • With its good Speed and the threat of a Leaf Storm that also functions as a free NP, use Serp to threaten something like Hippowdon, mega Diancie, or Tapu Fini and either kill it off or force it out for a free "boost" opportunity
  • Spam Leaf Storm primarily since it hits hard and provides the +2 boost off the bat, Serp is relatively weak without boosts so Leaf Storm should be what you're relying on
  • That or you can use Glare as well to potentially cripple something that will switch into Serperior such as?, which gives Serp utility early/mid game with paralysis

Team Options
========
  • Tapu Bulu can work as a partner since it provides Grassy Terrain, not to mention BU sets can lure Heatran in and weaken it with Brick Break, or CB sets can also smash it with Superpower
  • Landorus-T can take on some of Serps checks such as Heatran and to an extent Pheromosa and set up Rocks and help Serp in with U-turn. It also deals with Scolipede and can check stuff like Buzzwole to some extent as well.
  • Buzzwole can take on Pheromosa well, and also lures in Heatran well with Superpower refer to point in the above set about "luring".
  • Azelf can also set up Rocks relatively quickly which helps, and it deals with Venusaur and Amoonguss to an extent ???
  • Scarf Garchomp can revenge stuff like Pheromosa and to some extent Tornadus-T
  • Tapu Koko is also a decent teammate since it handles Tornadus-T, Skarmory, and Celesteela pretty well and also provides momentum.
  • Heatran itself is a good teammate since it's reliable at setting up Rocks and handles Celesteela lacking eq, Skarm, Genesect, and such well.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========
  • This thing's movepool is so laughably small lol
  • It learns Synthesis which is good recovery I guess youve mentioned this in moves
  • Knock Off isn't a bad move and it's good for knocking items of and crippling threats, while it has good power you also mentioned this in moves, drop the mentions from above
  • Leaf Blade WOT
  • Oh and I guess it learns Dragon Tail i guess this has some kind of merit on spike stacking but can you highlight that at least

Checks and Counters
========

**Heatran** Heatran completely walls Serperior and can force it out or defeat it with Lava Plume or Fire Blast

**Bulky Grass-types** Bulky Grass-types such as Mega Venusaur, Amoonguss, and Tangrowth can wall Serperior with relative ease and defeat it with Sludge Bomb

**Faster Pokemon** Threats such as Weavile and Tornadus-T can outspeed Serperior and revenge kill it with their STAB moves. more examples

**Bug-types** Pokemon such as Genesect and Pheromosa can revenge kill Serperior or force it out and gain momentum via U-turn

where are fire types?

Not QC, but I got a couple things I think could be changed here: (changes in bold)

Remove Lando-I mention, it's banned, and Mega Diancie is unreleased
  • Its STAB is pretty decent to handle threaten to do a large amount of damage to (works better with Garchomp) common Water and Ground-types such as Azumarill, Hippowdon, Tapu Fini, etc. Replace Azumarill and Hippowdon with more relavent examples like Rotom-W and Defensive Garchomp
  • Its coverage is lacking but passable move this down to negatives and say it lacks coverage moves beyond Hidden Power and Dragon Pulse
  • It's modestly bulky and also has good utility moves such as Glare and Leech Seed that give it some usage in being slightly annoying as well
  • It's fast but still slower than other notable threats such as Pheromosa and Tapu Koko, which is disappointing you already mentioned its speed and getting outsped by the 2 fastest mons in the tier isn't really a negative imo
  • Is rather easy to wall with threats such as Heatran and Mega Venusaur, so it needs support to effectively sweep
  • Its typing gives it some pretty bad weaknesses and leaves it vulnerable to threats such as Weavile and Pheromosa
  • It's also pretty weak without any boosts, its SpA is quite meh repetitive
  • Because of this, it's far from invincible and needs support to be able to function at its best This is a blanket statement that can apply to pretty much any Pokemon
[SET]
name: SubSeed
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Leech Seed
move 3: Leaf Storm
move 4: Hidden Power Fire
item: Leftovers
ability: Contrary
nature: Timid
evs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Substitute is pretty good for dodging status moves such as Toxic, but it also eases prediction against switch-ins and allows Serperior to play a bit more safely against faster threats if need be
  • Leech Seed is an annoying move that can drain a bit of HP from the opponent for recovery for Serp
  • Leaf Storm is a strong STAB move and it hits hard and gives a boost
  • HP Fire is for Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn, also hits bigs like Buzzwole and Pheromosa on a potential switch-in you aren't hitting thing on the switch in with HP Fire, you're only using it as coverage after you've boosted your SpA, Leech Seed and Sub are the moves you use on predicted switches.
  • You could give Glare a passing mention since Sub+Glare+Leaf Storm+HP Fire can potentially be annoying and let you cheese past normal checks, but leave this up to QC
  • HP Ground is also good since otherwise Serp can't do anything to Heatran
  • Hyper Beam with Normalium Z is a viable option since it can hit a potential Grass switch-in such as Mega Venusaur very hard without the recharge expense Those 2 are for the offensive set mention
Set Details
========
  • EV spread allows Serp to survive one Hydro Pump behind a Sub from Rotom-W, otherwise gives it a pretty good Sub number and the rest into Special Attack and Speed mention Keldeo Benchmark even though you're a bit above it since it's nice to know
  • Contrary is a given, considering that comprises Serperior's niche
  • Leftovers provides passive recovery
  • Mention what speed and spatk evs are for ofc

Usage Tips
========
  • This set is meant to be a massive annoyer with its access to Sub and Leech Seed, and high Speed This is something that's more suited for moves than usage tips, mention how you can throw out subs or seed on switches when you would otherwise need to predict
  • Mention that HP Fire should be used mainly to eliminate Steel-types after boosting instead of a coverage move to use on switches most of the time.
  • With such a set, it can hide behind a Sub and drain little bits of its opponent's HP every turn, giving it decent staying power another general blanket statement
  • Remove all of Serperior's counters as this set functions best late in the game. saying that you need to remove all of something's counters applies to every Pokemon

Team Options
========
  • Tapu Bulu is a great choice since it provides Grassy Terrain, which is great for Serp to boost the power of Leaf Storm and give it additional passive recovery. It also has offensive sets that can lure in Heatran with Superpower or Brick Break
  • Landorus-T is a pretty good partner since it can take on threats such as M-Scizor, Heatran, and to an extent some Pheromosa decently and sets up Rocks and U-turn. Mention how Lando-T lures in bulky waters for you to set up on
  • Fairies such as Togekiss and Azumarill can check Pheromosa and also take on some of Serp's answers such as Mega Venusaur and Heatran, respectively
  • Toxapex is also passable since it deals with Pheromosa well Tapu Fini is probably a lot more relavent to mention here over Azu/Toge and Scarf Tapu Lele can take on Heatran/Mosa
  • Buzzwole is a decent teammate for luring in Heatran and also handling Pheromosa buzzwole should be bulky most of the time, so Tran outspeeds it
  • Tapu Koko is also a workable teammate since it has U-turn/Volt Switch to provide momentum, not to mention it can deal with Tornadus-T, Skarm, Celesteela, and such decently and also has high Speed to revenge kill. being a revenge killer doesn't really make it a good teammate persay and seems like extraneous informationo here
  • Heatran can set up Rocks and handle Steel-types and such as Genesect.

[SET]

move 3: Glare / Dragon Pulse
move 4: Glare / Substitute / Taunt

evs: 8 HP / 248 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Leaf Storm is strong, hits hard, good STAB, and boosts SpA via Contrary
  • Hidden Power Fire helps with Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and to an extent Amoonguss and Tangrowth it really doesn't deal with either of these, assuming Tang is AV
  • Glare can paralyze something that switches in to cripple them for the match
  • Dragon Pulse is decent because it has good neutral coverage and also hits Dragons such as Latis and Dragonite for extra good damage, though it's relatively weak You literally always use Leaf Storm over D Pulse unless ur trying to like OHKO Latios at +2
  • Giga Drain is a decently powerful STAB that works as recovery, works with LO mention more specifically that it can heal off LO recoil rather than just "works with"
  • Taunt makes Serp into a pretty good stallbreaker by blocking status or recovery moves, and also preventing hazard setup
  • Synthesis can work alongside Substitute to keep Serp healthy consistently as reliable recovery
  • Knock Off works as a utility move to cripple switch-ins such as Heatran and Dragonite potentially

Set Details
========
The latter works well with Giga Drain since Giga Drain provides some recovery to compensate mention miracle seed

Usage Tips
========
  • This set is a late game cleaner first and foremost, so weaken potential counters such as Mega Venusaur, Heatran, and Celesteela before you try sweeping
  • With its good Speed and the threat of a Leaf Storm that also functions as a free NP, use Serp to threaten something like Hippowdon, mega Diancie, or Tapu Fini and either kill it off or force it out for a free "boost" opportunity remove M Diancie mention
  • Spam Leaf Storm primarily since it hits hard and provides the +2 boost off the bat, Serp is relatively weak without boosts so Leaf Storm should be what you're relying on.
  • Mention that coverage should generally only be used after boosting similar to how i said earliere
  • That or you can use Glare as well to potentially cripple something that will switch into Serperior, which gives Serp utility early/mid game with paralysis

Team Options
========
  • Tapu Bulu can work as a partner since it provides Grassy Terrain, not to mention BU sets and it can lure Heatran in and weaken it with Brick Break, or CB sets can also smash it with Superpower
  • Landorus-T can take on some of Serps checks such as Heatran and to an extent Pheromosa and set up Rocks and help Serp in with U-turn. It also deals with Scolipede and can check stuff like Buzzwole to some extent as well. Mention it lures in Bulky Waters
  • Buzzwole can take on Pheromosa well, and also lures in Heatran well with Superpower
  • Azelf can also set up Rocks relatively quickly which helps, and it deals with Venusaur and Amoonguss to an extent not sure how notable azelf is but qc can decide this, also azelf runs SS so it cant really deal with venu or amoong at all
  • Scarf Garchomp can revenge stuff like Pheromosa and to some extent Tornadus-T if you want to mention a scarrf rkiller mention scarf tapu lele instead since it's actually got much more spammable STAB moves and can prevent priority like M Pins QA from rkilling Serp
  • Tapu Koko is also a decent teammate since it handles Tornadus-T, Skarmory, and Celesteela pretty well and also provides momentum.
  • Heatran itself is a good teammate since it's reliable at setting up Rocks and handles Celesteela, Skarm, Genesect, and such well.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========
  • This thing's movepool is so laughably small lol
  • It learns Synthesis which is good recovery I guess
  • Knock Off isn't a bad move and it's good for knocking items of and crippling threats, while it has good power this and synth are in moves, either remove move mentions or remove from down here
  • Leaf Blade
  • Oh and I guess it learns Dragon Tail not sure if this is even usable but if you want to mention it at least say what it does and why it's usually bad

Checks and Counters
========

**Heatran** Heatran completely walls Serperior and can force it out or defeat it with Lava Plume or Fire Blast rename to fire types so u can include crap like zardy and such

**Bulky Grass-types** Bulky Grass-types such as Mega Venusaur, Amoonguss, and Tangrowth can wall Serperior with relative ease and defeat it with Sludge Bomb Tang doesn't usually learn sludge bomb, so reword this so it makes more sense

**Faster Pokemon** Threats such as Weavile and Tornadus-T can outspeed Serperior and revenge kill it with their STAB moves.

**Bug-types** Pokemon such as Genesect and Pheromosa can revenge kill Serperior or force it out and gain momentum via U-turn

add on another section for scarfers since scarfers like landot, lele, and hoopa-u can pressure serp pretty hard, especially the offensive set
Also, for the sake of the GP team, please make this more formal in tone. Also, change this to the new format with asterisks instead of bullet points please and ty :]

That should be all for now, good luck with the analysis n_n

  • Contrary is a given, considering that comprises Serperior's niche with Leaf Storms that provide boosts
  • Leftovers provides passive recovery so it can do what? assume the person knows stuff like this

Usage Tips
========
  • This set is meant to be a massive annoyer with its access to Sub and Leech Seed, and high Speed specifically WHAT does it annoy: checks to offensive serperior such as Heatran
  • With such a set, it can hide behind a Sub and drain little bits of its opponent's HP every turn, giving it decent staying power
  • This is also useful to stall out opponents such as Chansey and Heatran which otherwise wall Serprior combine this with the "annoyer" point
  • Keep it away from Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss (ie things that block Leech Seed and wall Serp)
  • Leaf Storm is a safe move to spam behind a Sub, and with its boosts Serperior can become a pretty formidable threat if its counters are removed, so it can sweep well too in the late-game
  • Remove all of Serperior's counters as this set functions best late in the game. Combine this with the "keep it away from grass-types" point; also the fact that it is best in the late game is debatable but I would need qc to comment on this
  • Mention what you can set up a sub on, i.e. go for Leech Seed or Sub on the switch into Heatran

Team Options
========
  • Tapu Bulu is a great choice since it provides Grassy Terrain, which is great for Serp to boost the power of Leaf Storm and give it additional passive recovery. It also has offensive sets that can lure in Heatran with Superpower or Brick Break
  • Landorus-T is a pretty good partner since it can take on threats such as M-Scizor, Heatran, and to an extent some Pheromosa decently and sets up Rocks and U-turn, and also baits in Rotom-W which Serperior can use as bait
  • Fairies such as Togekiss and Azumarill can check Pheromosa and also take on some of Serp's answers such as Mega Venusaur and Heatran, respectively. Azumarill also deals with Weavile very well
  • Toxapex is also passable since it deals with Pheromosa well. Mantine is also great since it deals with both Heatran and Pheromosa well and has more offensive presence as well as Defog weird that you have a bunch of passive mons here for a mon that works better on offense / balance
  • Mega Scizor also has good priority to revenge kill Weavile, as well as Pheromosa. It can also use U-turn if need be to give Serperior an easier switch-in.
  • Buzzwole is a decent teammate for handling Pheromosa and Weavile
  • Tapu Koko is also a workable teammate since it has U-turn or Volt Switch to provide momentum, not to mention it can deal with Tornadus-T, Skarm, Celesteela, Greninja, Weavile, and such decently and also has high Speed to revenge kill.
  • Heatran can set up Rocks and handle Steel-types such as Scizor, Celesteela lacking Earthquake, Magearna and Ferrothorn specifically earth power tran is good for other tran
  • Mega Alakazam and Tapu Fini are also useful since they can defeat Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss or force them out while providing general offensive support tapu fini loses to venusaur and amoon although it can taunt / use nature's madness to annoy them
mention dugtrio

mention things that serp breaks for, and also dugtrio to trap heatran and chansey

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========
  • This thing's movepool is extremelly shallow with few to no options at all
  • Dragon Tail is decent on Spikes teams as a means of phazing and spreading damage
  • Light Screen and Reflect have merit as a means of reducing damage for frailer teams, and Serperior has enough speed to set them up reliably
  • Mirror Coat is an interesting move that can be used to deal heavy damage to strong special attackers such as Tapu Lele and Magearna

Checks and Counters
========

**Fire-types** Heatran completely walls Serperior and can force it out or defeat it with Lava Plume or Fire Blast. Other Fire-types such as Alolan Marowak, Mega Charizard Y, and Volcarona also deal with Serperior effectively, the latter also capable of boosting on Serperior with Quiver Dance provided it lacks Taunt.

**Bulky Grass-types** Bulky Grass-types such as Mega Venusaur, Amoonguss, and Tangrowth can wall Serperior with relative ease and defeat it with Sludge Bomb

**Faster Pokemon** Threats such as Weavile, Tornadus-T, and Pheromosa can outspeed Serperior and revenge kill it with their STAB moves.

add dragon-types that can use serp as setup bait but don't appreciate glare (salamence, etc.) and also bulky pokemon (chansey is still a really good check to it)

Wew lads it's been a while on this one too.

First off make sure to update the way the sets are formatted. They need to be in bullet point format.
Its STAB is pretty decent to handle common Water and Ground-types such as Azumarill, Hippowdon, Tapu Fini, etc.
I would potentially mention more common Pokemon in this list. I mean being honest I can't remember the last time I really saw an Azumarill. Hippowdon is rarer but I guess acceptable since Quagsire is even rarer. Maybe just handle some more relevant Pokemon here and we're okay.

You can add Dragonite to the Dragon-types. Rarer for sure, but has a niche to be useful.

Looks good otherwise.

Team Options

  • Mega Scizor also has good priority to revenge kill Weavile, as well as Pheromosa. It can also use U-turn if need be to give Serperior an easier switch-in.
  • Buzzwole is a decent teammate for handling Pheromosa and Weavile
You can condense these into 1 line. I'd also give hazard support more emphasis since SubSeed forces switches like crazy.

Offensive

  • The set invests 8 HP to allow Serperior to survive one Sacred Sword guaranteed from Keldeo even with Rocks taken into account
Unless i'm mistaken, this isn't true. It can always avoid the OHKO from Timid Specs Secret Sword.

  • Glare can paralyze a threat such as Tornadus-T or Pheromosa that switches in to cripple them for the match
There are better Glare targets than Pheromosa imo. It's not even in a good switch in since it gets wrecked by Leaf Storm (72.4 - 85.5%) and it's is worn down by Leech Seed. You could mention Pokemon like Scarf Jirachi, the Charizards and Volcarona.

  • Hidden Power Ice is a viable option as well to handle Salamence
Why not mention Dragonite and the other x4 weak Pokemon? (STAB Leaf Storm is weaker than x4 HP Ice)

Everything else looks good

GP 1/1
[OVERVIEW]
* Contrary is the biggest selling point about it Serperior, essentially allowing it to gain a free +2 boost in Special Attack every time it uses its strongest STAB attack, Leaf Storm.
* It's pretty fast, (AC) too; (SC) base 113 Speed is pretty good and lets it outpaces a good deal of notable threats such as Latios, Mega Metagross, Gengar, and Kartana, but it leaves it ultimately slower than other notable threats such as Tapu Koko and Pheromosa.
* Its STAB is pretty decent to handle common Water- (AH) and Ground-types such as Dugtrio, Rotom-W, Tapu Fini, and Tyranitar, etc.
* Its coverage is lacking but passable.
* It's modestly bulky and also has good utility moves such as Glare and Leech Seed that give it some usage in being slightly annoying as well.
* It's rather easy to wall with popular threats such as Heatran and Mega Venusaur, so it needs support to effectively sweep.
* Its typing gives it some pretty bad weaknesses and leaves it vulnerable to threats such as Weavile and Pheromosa.
* It's also pretty weak without any boosts, since its SpA Special Attack is quite average at best.

[SET]
name: SubSeed
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Leech Seed
move 3: Leaf Storm
move 4: Hidden Power Fire
item: Leftovers
ability: Contrary
nature: Timid
evs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
* Substitute is pretty good for dodging status moves such as Toxic, but it also eases prediction against switch-ins and allows Serperior to play a bit more safely against faster threats if need be.
* Leech Seed is an annoying move that can drain a bit of HP from the opponent for recovery for Serperior.
* Leaf Storm is a strong STAB move and it hits hard and that also gives a boost to Serperior's Special Attack.
* Hidden Power Fire is for Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn, and it also hits Bug-types like Buzzwole and Pheromosa.

Set Details
========
* The EV spread allows Serperior's Substitute (assumin you mean this) to survive one Hydro Pump from Rotom-W; (SC) behind a Substitute, otherwise, (AC) it gives it a pretty good HP number, (AC) and the rest is invested into Special Attack and Speed.
* Contrary is a given, considering that it comprises Serperior's niche with Leaf Storms that provide boosts.
* Leftovers provides passive recovery, (AC) which helps Serperior sustain enough HP to utilize Substitute repeatedly in the long run.

Usage Tips
========
* This set is meant to be a massive annoyer with its access to Substitute and Leech Seed (RC) and its high Speed, stalling out opponents foes such as Chansey and Heatran, (AC) which otherwise wall Serprior.
* With such a set, it can hide behind a Substitute and drain little bits of its opponent's foe's HP every turn, giving it decent staying power.
* Keep it away from Grass-types like Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss, which block Leech Seed and wall Serperior.
* Leaf Storm is a safe move to spam behind a Substitute, and with its boosts Serperior can become a pretty formidable threat if its counters are removed, so it can sweep well too in the late-game.

Team Options
========
* Tapu Bulu is a great choice, (AC) since it provides Grassy Terrain, which is great for Serperior to boost boosts the power of Leaf Storm and give it gives Serperior additional passive recovery. It also has offensive sets that can lure in surprise Heatran with Superpower or Brick Break.
* Landorus-T is a pretty good partner, (AC) since it can take on threats such as M-Scizor, Mega Scizor, Heatran, and to an extent some Pheromosa decently, (AC) and sets up Stealth Rock, (AC) and can bring Serperior in U-turn, and also baits in Rotom-W, (AC) which Serperior can use as setup bait.
* Stealth Rock and Spikes are especially useful, (AC) since this set can force switches a lot. Greninja, Garchomp, and Dugtrio all provide such entry hazards effectively.
* Fairies Fairy-types such as Togekiss and Azumarill can check Pheromosa and also take on some of Serperior's answers such as Mega Venusaur and Heatran, respectively. Azumarill also deals with Weavile very well.
* Mantine is also great, (AC) since it deals with both Heatran and Pheromosa well and has more offensive presence as well as Defog. (AP) Tapu Fini is also similarly is very good. (AP) as well
* Mega Scizor and Buzzwole can both handle Weavile and Pheromosa. Mega Scizor also has U-turn to be able to bring Serperior in more easily.
* Tapu Koko is also a workable teammate, (AC) since it has U-turn or Volt Switch to provide momentum, not to mention it can deal with the likes of Tornadus-T, Skarmory, Celesteela, Greninja, and Weavile, and such decently and also has high Speed to revenge kill.
* Heatran can set up Stealth Rock Rocks and handle Steel-types such as Scizor, Celesteela lacking Earthquake, Magearna, and Ferrothorn. It can also defeat opposing Heatran with Earth Power.
* Dugtrio is a great partner, (AC) since with Arena Trap, it can effectively trap and weaken Heatran and Chansey. It can also provide Stealth Rock support.
* Mega Alakazam and Tapu Lele are also useful, (AC) since they can defeat Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss or force them out while providing general offensive support.

[SET]
name: Offensive
move 1: Leaf Storm
move 2: Hidden Power Fire
move 3: Glare / Dragon Pulse
move 4: Glare / Substitute / Taunt
item: Leftovers / Life Orb
ability: Contrary
nature: Timid
evs: 8 HP / 248 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
* Leaf Storm is strong, hits hard, provides a good STAB move, and boosts SpA Serperior's Special Attack via Contrary.
* Hidden Power Fire helps with Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and to an extent Amoonguss and Tangrowth.
* Glare can paralyze a threat switch-in such as Tornadus-T, Choice Scarf Jirachi, or Volcarona that switches in to cripple them for the match.
* Dragon Pulse is decent because it has good neutral coverage and also hits Dragon-types such as Latios, Latias, and Dragonite for extra good damage, though it's relatively weak.
* Giga Drain is a decently powerful STAB attack that works as recovery, works with LO and pairs well with Life Orb.
* Taunt makes Serperior into a pretty good stallbreaker by blocking status or recovery moves (RC) and also preventing hazard setup. As such, Thus, it also helps in dealing with Chansey.
* Synthesis can work alongside Substitute as reliable recovery to keep Serperior consistently healthy.
* Knock Off works as a utility move to potentially cripple switch-ins such as Heatran and Dragonite potentially.
* Hidden Power Ground is also good, (AC) since otherwise Serperior can't do anything to Heatran.
* Hidden Power Ice is a viable option as well to handle Salamence, Gliscor, Dragonite, and Landorus-T.
* Hyper Beam with Normalium Z is a viable option, (AC) since it can hit a potential Grass switch-in such as Mega Venusaur very hard without the expense of the recharge turn

Set Details
========
* The set invests 8 HP to allow Serperior to survive one Sacred Sword guaranteed from Keldeo even with Stealth Rocks taken into account.
* The rest is invested into SpA Special Attack and Speed so Serperior can sweep.
* Leftovers can provide passive recovery if needed, but Life Orb provides additional power which that can help Serperior hit harder, albeit at the cost of recoil. The latter works well with Giga Drain, (AC) since Giga Drain provides some recovery to compensate.

Usage Tips
========
* This set is a late-game (AH) cleaner first and foremost, so weaken potential counters such as Mega Venusaur, Heatran, and Celesteela before you try sweeping.
* With its good Speed and the threat of a Leaf Storm that also functions as a free Nasty Plot, use Serperior to threaten something like Hippowdon or Tapu Fini and either kill it off KO it or force it out for a free "boost" opportunity.
* Leaf Storm should be used primarily the primary move used, (AC) since it hits hard and provides the +2 boost off the bat, and Serperior is relatively weak without boosts. so Leaf Storm should be what you're relying on
* That or You can use Glare as well to potentially cripple something that will switch into Serperior, (AC) such as Tornadus-T, which gives Serperior utility early/mid early- and mid-game with paralysis.

Team Options
========
* Tapu Bulu can work as a partner, (AC) since it provides Grassy Terrain, not to mention BU Bulk Up sets can lure Heatran in and weaken it (RC) or CB and Choice Band sets can also smash it with Superpower.
* Landorus-T can take on some of Serperior's checks such as Heatran and to an extent Pheromosa, (AC) and set up Rocks Stealth Rock, and help Serperior come in with U-turn. It also deals with Scolipede and can check stuff threats like Buzzwole to some extent as well, while it lures Rotom-W in, granting Serperior an easier opportunity to come in.
* Buzzwole can take on Pheromosa well.
* Azelf can also set up Stealth Rock Rocks relatively quickly. which helps
* Choice Scarf Garchomp can revenge kill threats like Pheromosa and to some extent Tornadus-T.
* Tapu Koko is also a decent teammate, (AC) since it handles Tornadus-T, Skarmory, Greninja, and Celesteela pretty well and also provides momentum.
* Ash-Greninja is a good teammate, (AC) since it can handle Mega Metagross and Heatran well (RC) and benefits from Serperior being able to take out Tapu Fini and the like.
* Volcarona is also a viable teammate that can clean and deal with Steel-types and Pheromosa well, while it appreciates Serperior's ability to deal with Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and Nihilego.
* Heatran itself is a good teammate, (AC) since it's reliable at setting up Rocks Stealth Rock and handles the likes of Celesteela lacking Earthquake (RC) and Skarmory, and such well.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========
* This thing's Serperior's movepool is extremely shallow with few to no options at all.
* Dragon Tail is decent on Spikes teams as a means of phazing and spreading damage.
* Light Screen and Reflect have merit as a means of reducing damage for frailer teams, and Serperior has enough speed to set them up reliably.
* Mirror Coat is an interesting move that can be used to deal heavy damage to strong special attackers such as Tapu Lele and Magearna.

Checks and Counters
========

**Fire-types**: (colons throughout) Heatran completely walls Serperior and can force it out or defeat it with Lava Plume or Fire Blast. Other Fire-types such as Alolan Marowak, Mega Charizard Y, and Volcarona also deal with Serperior effectively, with the latter also being capable of boosting on Serperior with Quiver Dance provided it lacks Taunt.

**Bulky Grass-types**: Bulky Grass-types such as Mega Venusaur, Amoonguss, and Tangrowth can wall Serperior with relative ease and defeat it with Sludge Bomb.

**Faster Pokemon**: Threats such as Weavile, Tornadus-T, and Pheromosa can outspeed Serperior and revenge kill it with their STAB moves.

**Dragon-types**: Mega Charizard X, Salamence, and Dragonite can use Serperior as setup bait to boost with Dragon Dance, but they don't appreciate being paralyzed by Glare.

**Specially Bulky Pokemon**: Chansey can check Serperior effectively due to its extremely high bulk. Celesteela, Magearna, and Ferrothorn also make for effective answers to Serperior due to resisting Leaf Storm
