LC Axew

[OVERVIEW]

With a high base Attack, decent Speed, and access to Dragon Dance, Axew is able to sweep teams once given the chance to set up. Unfortunately, it struggles against Fairy- and Steel-types when locked into Outrage, though they're vulnerable to Axew's coverage moves. Due to Axew's lack of bulk, powerful offensive Pokemon such as Mienfoo and Vullaby make it hard for it to set up. Because of these factors, even at +1 Axew is often unable to sweep until late-game after the opposing team has been weakened.

[SET]
name: Dragon Dance Sweeper
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Outrage / Dual Chop
move 3: Superpower
move 4: Iron Tail / Poison Jab
item: Eviolite
ability: Mold Breaker
nature: Jolly / Adamant
evs: 68 HP / 220 Atk / 220 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Dragon Dance gives Axew the power and speed needed to get through walls and revenge killers, and after two to three boosts it will turn Axew into a fast physical sweeper. Outrage is a powerful Dragon-type STAB move, and at +1 it has a chance to OHKO Vullaby after Stealth Rock, as well as a guaranteed 2HKO on Timburr after Stealth Rock. Dual Chop is an option over Outrage if you don't wish to be locked into a move, and is a great way to get past Focus Sash users. It should be noted, however, that Dual Chop is rather weak even at +1 and requires multiple boosts to break bulkier threats like Vullaby. Superpower is a reliable way to take on Steel-types, especially Pawniard and Magnemite, which are both guaranteed to be OHKOed. Iron Tail is used against Fairy-types. It will always 2HKO Spritzee after Stealth Rock has been set up, OHKOes Cottonee at +1, and has a chance to OHKO Snubbull at +1 after Stealth Rock. The only downside about Iron Tail is its low accuracy. Poison Jab is a more reliable alternative, that has a guaranteed 2HKO on Snubbull at +1 after Stealth Rock and also OHKOes Cottonee.

Set Details
========

Axew lacks in both Defense and Special Defense; Eviolite is needed to raise Axew's bulk, allowing Axew to survive a High Jump Kick from Choice Scarf Mienfoo and a Psychic from non-Life Orb Abra. The EV spread is pretty standard for a sweeper. Maximized EVs in Attack and Speed allow Axew to hit as hard as possible and outpace the likes of Corphish and Magnemite. After a boost from Dragon Dance, Axew's power increases. A +1 Jolly Axew can outspeed some Choice Scarf Pokemon, such as Scraggy and Magnemite. Alternatively Adamant will increase Axew's Attack and can let it OHKO Pokemon such as Omanyte, which Jolly Axew can only 2HKO, but Axew will still be vulnerable to a few Choice Scarf users such as Rufflet (which can outspeed it) and Vullaby (which Speed ties). Mold Breaker is used to bypass defensive abilities like Sturdy and Solid Rock, giving Axew an easier time cleaning up.

Usage Tips
========

Axew is best used as a late-game sweeper when its checks have been weakened or removed. Using Superpower too much may prevent Axew from sweeping effectively, as Axew sorely needs its Attack boosts to have a reasonable shot at OHKOing enemies. Dragon Dance should only be used when Axew has an opening to set up or when there's a chance Axew will be able to take a hit. Examples of Pokemon that can be set up on by Axew would be Stunky and Lileep. Also, if Axew is locked into Outrage against something that resists it such as a Steel-type, Axew won't be able to do much damage and is prone to being counterattacked. When a Fairy-type is switched in to nullify Outrage, Axew will be able to use Iron Tail after Outrage has been blocked. However, if a Fairy-type comes in for a revenge kill, they're still able to get a free hit on Axew. Superpower can be used to hit a predicted Steel-type switch-in, and Poison Jab can be used to hit Fairy switch-ins. Axew should also be wary of priority on the opponent's team when attempting a sweep and has to look out for super effective coverage from Pokemon like Staryu and Timburr.

Team Options
========

Diglett is an exceptional partner for Axew because its ability Arena Trap allows it to trap Steel-types and OHKO them with Earthquake. Axew benefits from having entry hazards up because they punish switching and aid Axew in sweeping. Good examples of hazard setters are Drilbur and Pawniard. Drilbur is also great for handling Steel-types, while Pawniard is good for threatening Fairy-types. Axew also benefits from Knock Off users, which are able to remove Eviolite and thus allowing Axew to sweep better. A good example of Knock Off user is Alolan Grimer. In addition to Knock Off support, Cottonee and Stunky can provide Axew with Memento support. Ice-types are really troublesome for Axew, so having a Pokemon that can go up against them is really important. Good examples of Pokemon that check Ice-types are Ponyta and Slowpoke. Bulky Pokemon are great teammates as well because Axew lacks bulk. Example of bulky pokemon that can support Axew include Chinchou to handle Ice-type moves and Mareanie or Foongus to handle Fairy-types. Mudbray and Onix are also great Ground-types to handle opposing Steel-types. Fighting-types such as Timburr and Mienfoo are major threats to Steel-types as well.

[STRAGETY COMMENTS]
Other Options
==========

Choice Scarf is an option, since it makes Axew a immediate threat and capable of revenge killing. However, this set lacks sweeping capabilities because Axew is locked into one move. Using Life Orb will increase Axew's Attack, but it will chip away at Axew's health in the process, making Axew quite frail on top of losing Eviolite. Dragon Claw is an option because it has a Base Power of 80 and no drawbacks. However, unfortunately even at +3 Axew can't OHKO Mienfoo, and unlike Outrage, Dragon Claw 2HKOes Staryu. Facade can let Axew potentially set up on Ponyta and Scald users such as Chinchou. Taunt can let Axew set up on Foongus, not allowing it to use Spore. Focus Sash is another option, allowing Axew to survive a super effective hit and set up with Dragon Dance. Substitute is also an option, since it helps Axew avoid status; unfortunately, it makes Axew lose out on important coverage. Lum Berry can get around status, and if Axew lasts long enough, it can also cure Axew from Outrage confusion, but this will leave Axew very frail. Steelium Z allows for Axew to OHKO Spritzee at +1, Cottonee at +0, and Snubbull at +1 and never misses. The loss of Eviolite's bulk can be troublesome, however.

Checks and Counters
===========

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types such as Spritzee and Snubbull are immune to Axew's Dragon-type moves and can easily take a Superpower. However, they have to be careful of Iron Tail or Poison Jab.

**Priority**: Axew suffers greatly to Sucker Punch Pokemon like Pawniard, which can be an issue. Croagunk's Vacuum Wave and Zigzagoon's Extreme Speed are threatening as well.

**Steel-types**: Axew's only move to go up against Steel-types is Superpower, and Superpower will decreases Axew's Attack and Defense by 1.

**Ice-type Moves**: There are a lot of Pokemon with good Ice-type coverage moves. Offensive Staryu can 2HKO Axew with Ice Beam, and bulky Water-types such as Chinchou have access to Ice Beam as well.

**Status**: Axew doesn't like being burned, paralyzed, or poisoned, since burn halves Axew's Attack, paralysis lowers its Speed, and poison chips away at its health, completely stopping Axew from sweeping effectively.

AM check, this does not count as QC, and you don't have to implement this if you don't agree.

Overview
------------
  • Start off with mentioning the role Axew fulfills for teams (Dragon Dance sweeper), as that is the reason people will want to keep reading.
  • Merge some bullet points. It seems like you interrupt your points in the middle in your current first and third bullet point.
  • Positives first! So mention how its good Attack, decent Speed and access to Dragon Dance allow it to potentially sweep a team.
Set
------------
name: Dragon Dance Sweeper
move 1: Dragon Dance
move 2: Outrage / Dragon Claw
move 3: Superpower
move 4: Iron Tail / Poison Jab
item: Eviolite
ability: Mold Breaker
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 68 HP/ 220 Atk/ 220 Spe

Remove bullet points here
Put spaces between slashes.
Switch the slashing of Iron Tail and Poison Jab

Moves
------------
  • Mention how Iron Tail always 2HKOes Spritzee after Stealth Rock, OHKOes Cottonee at +1 and has a change to OHKO Snubbull at +1 after Stealth Rock.
  • Mention how Poison Jab is more reliable than Iron Tail due to Iron Tail's low accuracy.
Set Details (change formatting)
------------
  • Mention how the increased bulk from Eviolite gives Axew an easier time setting up.
  • Jolly Axew DOES NOT outspeed Choice Scarf Mienfoo and Chinchou. It speed ties with both if they are Adamant/Modest, and is outsped if they are Jolly/Timid. In stead mention Scarf Scraggy and Magnemite here.
  • Mention that Mold Breaker is used to bypass defensive abilities like Sturdy and Solid Rock, giving Axew an easier time cleaning up.
Usage Tips
------------
  • The first point should be that Axew should be preserved until the late game in order to set up a Dragon Dance and then clean a team after its counters have been removed.
Team Options
------------
  • This needs to be expanded a lot. You constantly mention that Fairy- and Steel-types counter Axew, so mention that Pokemon that beat those are useful. For example, Poison-types such as Foongus and Mareanie deal with Fairy-types, while Ground-types such as Mudbray and Diglett or Fighting-types like Mienfoo and Timburr can deal with Steel-types.
  • Give examples of hazard setters. Drilbur and Pawniard are good. Also mention that Drilbur can take on Steel-types and Pawniard threatens Fairy-types.
  • Give example of Knock Off users. Once again, Pawniard is good here because it deals with Fairy-types, while Mienfoo and Timburr are nice to also deal with Steel-types.

Other Options
------------
  • The Choice Scarf set should absolutely be the first point here. Mention how it can be a threat immediately and can revenge kill, but it lacks the power to sweep.
  • Also mention Choice Band as an option.
  • Mention Substitute to avoid status, but it will make Axew lose out on important coverage.
Checks & Counters
------------
  • First mention why Fairy-types counter Axew: 'Fairy-types such as Spritzee and Snubbul are immune to Axew's Dragon-type moves and can easily take a Superpower, though they have to be careful of Iron Tail or Poison Jab'
  • Change the priority point to 'Revenge killers' and also mention faster Choice Scarfers, such as Mienfoo and Chinchou.
  • Hail teams are not common. Change this to focus on Ice-type coverage moves.
  • Make a point about status. Axew hates being Burned or Paralysed, as it completely stops its sweep.
Pretty nice job overall!

Overview:
  • Axew plays a great role in the meta as a sweeper.
Remove this because Axew isn't actually that relevant :(

Set:
Axew really needs a strong STAB move to have a reasonable shot at sweeping (+3 Dragon Claw doesn't OHKO slowfoo from full, for example). Make Outrage first (discussed with Fiend and he agrees now), and replace Dragon Claw with Dual Chop because it gets past Sash users. Mention that Dual Chop is often too weak to sweep with until there are no Eviolite-holding Pokemon left.
Move Dragon Claw to OO.
I'd switch Adamant and Jolly as well, the 24 Speed tier is fairly important. Reflect this change in the set details.

Moves:
Switch the descriptions of Superpower and Iron Tail/Poison Jab to reflect their order in the set.

Usage Tips:
  • You don't want Axew being locked in Outrage, when there's a steel type such as Pawniard on the field due to the fact that Axew suffers from a stab sucker punch from pawniard. Overall if Axew is locked into Outrage no damage will be done and axew will eventually be confused from outrage.
I think what you mean is, if Axew is locked into Outrage against something that resists it, Axew won't be doing much damage and is prone to counterattack.

  • If a fairy type is switch in to nullify your outrage, this will allow axew to use poison jab after Outrage has been blocked or Iron tail if your choice was Iron tail.
Mention that if they come in on the revenge-kill, they still get a free hit in.

Team Options:
Emphasize Diglett as a teammate for its ability to trap Steel-types instead of just checking them.

Other Options:
Mention Life Orb Axew is quite frail.
Again, mention Dragon Claw.
Mention Facade to potentially set up on Ponyta and Scald users.
Mention Taunt to potentially set up on Foongus.
Mention Lum Berry to get around status, and if Axew lasts long enough, Outrage confusion, but that it leaves Axew very frail.

Overview
* It really isn't necessary giving us Axew's base Attack and Speed, since we can see Axew's stats at the top of the page when reading its analysis.
* You don't touch on Axew's poor bulk enough imo. That's a huge flaw when using Axew, so I'd talk about some threatening Pokemon that its poor bulk leaves it susceptible to, like Mienfoo or Vullaby.
* You should also mention that because of Axew's bulk, it often struggles to find set up opportunities.
* There's a lot of rephrasing that should be done here. The grammar's a little poor in some places. I think you should add a comma onto the end of "However they do have to fear Superpower" and replace the sentence you have afterward with something like "though Axew doesn't appreciate the drop in attack after using the move."

Set
Fine

Moves
* Take out the sentence you have about Outrage's downside in being locked onto the move and getting confused. This can be added to the sentence that follows, like this: "Dual Chop is an option over outrage if you don't wish to be locked onto a move, and is great.... what you have already."
* You should rephrase your sentence regarding dual chop's downside. The way you phrase it makes it sound like we should have no incentive to use Dual Chop on Axew. Say something like, "It should be noted, however, that Dual Chop is rather weak when boosted and requires multiple boosts to break bulkier threats."
* Give examples of steel types that you can hit with Superpower, and how hard you hit them after a boost as well.
* Again, you have a lot of grammatical errors within these sentences. Patch this up, it's a little confusing reading some areas of this section.

Set Details
* You don't need to say that it has overall mediocre stats at the beginning. Just say that Axew lacks in its Defenses and that Eviolite helps to give it some needed bulk. Other stats don't come into play with eviolite, so why mention them?
* Give us some examples of hits that Axew can survive with an eviolite.
* What do you mean Axew is allowed to have a clean sweep with its EVs? I'd remove this, as it doesn't really have clean sweeps just because of its EVs. Instead, say something like "Maximized EVs in Attack and Speed allow Axew to hit as hard as possible and outpace the likes of *list some examples of pokemon axew's speed allows it to outpace*"
* You say that with an Adamant nature, Axew's vulnerable to more threats. How? Elaborate on this a little more by giving examples of scarfers that it outspeeds or speed ties it when its running Adamant that it doesn't when its jolly, like Vullaby, which speed ties Jolly variants, and Amaura, which speed ties Adamant variants.
* Remove 'Not only that' in you Mold Breaker sentence
* Say Choice Scarf Magnemite and Scraggy, not just scarf Magnemite. It's mandatory that you don't shorten the names of items, newer players may not understand when reading

Usage Tips
* Remove the first two sentences and replace them with something along the lines of "Axew is best used as a late game sweeper when its checks have been weakened or removed." It sounds better this way.
* Don't say using Superpower too 'early.' Replace the word early with too much.
* Give examples of pokemon that Axew is able to set up on (things thats attacks its able to live or defensive pokes that don't threaten it)
* Add that Superpower should be used when predicting a switch into a Steel-type, and that Iron Tail or Poison Jab should be used when predicting a switch into a Fairy-type.
* Say that Axew should be wary of priority on the opponent's team when attempting a sweep.
* Say tha Axew also has to look out for super effective coverage from stuff like Staryu and Timburr.

Team Options
* Don't mention Diglett twice. Say 'ground types such as Mudbray and *another ground type threat*' since Diglett has a specific mention as a good partner.
* Change Pawniard as your knock off example to Alolan Grimer, since you've already mentioned Pawn and Alolan Grimer's still a good example.
* Give examples of mons that can provide Axew with memento support.
* You need to talk about some Ice-type checks, as Ice-type attacks are really troublesome for Axew. Examples include Slowpoke, Staryu and Ponyta.

Other Options
Everything here is fine

Checks and Counters
* You need to include more examples of priority attacks that threaten Axew. Croagunk's Vacuum Wave and Zigzagoon's Extreme Speed are good examples.
* Remove the 'that aren't ice type' part of your first sentence in ice type attacks, since the word coverage already suggests that these mons aren't of the ice type. Also remove the "not making it easy to just use superpower" part.

I'd like to see this before I give you 3/3, so implement your changes then let me know so I can look at it and hopefully stamp it.

I'd like to see this before I give you 3/3, so implement your changes then let me know so I can look at it and hopefully stamp it.
I'll implement them when i get back from school.

* Under Team Options, just add that alongside Knock Off support Cottonee can provide Axew with Memento support and use another example.
* Under Checks and Counters, elaborate on why Axew hates the forms of status you mentioned. Its attack is halved by Burns, Paralysis halves its speed and Poison puts it on a timer.

Implement these last couple of checks and give yourself 3/3

[OVERVIEW]

With a high base Attack, decent Speed, (AC) and access to Dragon Dance, (comma) Axew is able to sweep teams once given the chance to set up. But Unfortunately, (AC) it struggles against Fairy- and Steel-types when locked into Outrage, though they're vulnerable to Axew's coverage moves. Also Due to Axew's lack of bulk, (AC) powerful offensive Pokemon such as Mienfoo and Vullaby can deal a great amount of damage to Axew, making make it harder for Axew to set up. Because of these factors, even at +1 Axew is often too weak unable to sweep until late-game after the opposing team has been weakened.

Moves
========

Dragon Dance gives Axew the power and speed needed to get through walls and revenge killers, and after two to three boosts. (remove) it It will turn Axew into a fast physical sweeper. Outrage is a powerful Dragon type-STAB move and at +1 has a chance to OHKO Vullaby after Stealth Rocks, and has a guaranteed 2HKO on Timburr at +1 after Stealth Rocks. Dual Chop is an option over Outrage if you don't wish to be locked into a move, and is a great way to get past Focus Sash users. It should be noted, however, that Dual Chop is rather weak even at +1 when boosted and requires multiple boosts to break bulkier threats which ones, like Vullaby?. Superpower is a reliable way to go up against Steel-types, (AC) . Examples of steels types that are vulnerable to Superpower are such as Pawniard and Magnemite which are both guaranteed to be OHKOed by the likes of Superpower. Iron Tail is a good option to go up used against Fairy-types. An Iron Tail will always 2HKO Spritzee after Stealth Rocks has been set up, (AC). Also OHKOes a Cottonee at +1, and has a chance to OHKO Snubbull at +1 after Stealth Rock. The only downside about Iron Tail is its low accuracy. Making Poison Jab is a more reliable alternative, since Poison Jab has a guaranteed 2HKO on Snubbull at +1 after Stealth Rocks and also OHKOes Cottonee.

Set Details
========

Axew lacks in both Defense and Special Defense; (SC) So Eviolite is needed to raise Axew's bulk, making it more easier for Axew to set up, allowing Axew to survive a High Jump Kick from Choice Scarf Mienfoo and a Psychic from Focus sash non-Life Orb Abra. The EV spread is pretty standard for this set, since Axew is a sweeper. Maximized EVs in Attack and Speed allow Axew to hit as hard as possible and outpace the likes of Corphish and Magnemite. (period) After a boost from Dragon Dance this will increase Axew power Axew's power increases even more. A +1 Jolly Axew can outspeed some Choice Scarf Pokemons, such as Choice Scarf Scraggy and Magnemite. Adamant will increase Axew's Attack, What can Adamant KO that Jolly can't? this is key but Axew will still be vulnerable to a few threats from Choice Scarf users such as Rufflet (which can outspeed it) and has a speed tie with Choice Scarf Vullaby (which Speed ties). Mold Breaker is used to bypass defensive abilities like Sturdy and Solid Rock, (comma) giving Giving Axew an easier time cleaning up.

Usage Tips
========

Axew is best used as a late-game sweeper when its checks have been weakened or removed. Also Using Superpower too much may prevent Axew from sweeping effectively, (AC) as Axew sorely needs its Attack boosts to have a reasonable shot at OHKOing enemies. Dragon Dance should only be used when Axew has an opening to set up or when there's a chance Axew will live be able to take a hit. (period) Examples of Pokemon that can be set up on by Axew would be Stunky and Lileep. Also, (AC) if Axew is locked into Outrage against something that resists it such as a Steel-types, (comma) Axew won't be able to do much damage and is prone to being counter attacked. When a Fairy-type is switched in to nullify Outrage, this will allow Axew will be able to use Iron Tail after Outrage has been blocked. But if a Fairy-type comes in for a revenge kill, they're still able to get a free hit on Axew. Also Superpower can be used to hit a predicted predict a Steel-type switch-in and Poison Jab can be used to predict hit Fairy switch-ins. Axew should also be wary of priority on the opponent's team when attempting a sweep and has to look out for super effective coverage from Pokemon like Staryu and Timburr.

Team Options
========

Diglett is an exceptional partner for Axew because with the ability Arena Trap it can trap Steel-types, (RC) and OHKO steel with it's Ground-type STAB move them with Earthquake. Axew benefits from having entry hazards up because it they will give Axew momentum punish switching and gives the possibility aid Axew in sweeping to sweep. Good examples of hazard setters that can support Axew, is are Drilbur and Pawniard. Drilbur is also great for handling Steel-types while Pawniard is good for threatening Fairy-types. Axew also benefits from Knock Off users,(comma) which Who are able to remove Eviolite and thus allowing Axew to sweep better. A good example of a knock Off user is Alola Grimer. Cottonee is also a good Knock Off partner because it spreads Knock Off to make key Pokemons frailer. Every Knock Off Pokemon can do this Alongside Knock Off support Cottonee and Stunky can provide Axew with Memento support. Also Ice-types are really troublesome for Axew, so having a Pokemon that can go up against them is really important. (period) Good examples of Pokemon that check Ice-types are Ponyta, (RC) and Slowpoke. Bulky Pokemons are great teammates as well, (AC) due since Axew lacks bulk and thus puts its team in danger when it must switch out. Example of bulky Pokemon that can support Axew, (RC) would be Chinchou to take handle Ice-type moves and Mareanie or even Foongus to handle Fairy-types. Mudbray and Onix are also great Ground-types to handle Steel-type attacks. Fighting-types such as Timburr and Mienfoo are are major threats to Steel as well.

Other Options
==========

Choice Scarf is an option since its makes Axew a immediate threat and good for capable of revenge killing. But this set lacks sweeping capabilities since because Axew is locked into one move. Using Life Orb will increase Axew's Attack, spacing allowing Axew to hit more harder, the only issue is Life Orb but will chip away at Axew's health in the process, also making Axew quite frail on top of losing Eviolite. Dragon Claw is an option because of it has a Base Power of 80, (RC) and no drawbacks. But unfortunately even +3 Axew can't OHKO a slow Mienfoo and unlike Outrage, Dragon Claw can't OHKO a 2HKO Staryu but instead 2HKOes it. Facade can let Axew potentially set up on Ponyta and Scald users such as Chinchou. Taunt is a option because it can potentially let Axew set up on Foongus, not allowing it to use Spore. Focus Sash is another option, (AC) allowing Axew to survive a super effective hit and being able to set up with Dragon Dance. Substitute is also an option since it avoids helps Axew avoid status. But unfortunately, (AC) it makes Axew lose out on important coverage. Lum Berry can get around status, and, (AC) if Axew lasts long enough, (comma) Lum Berry can also cure Axew from Outrage confusion, but this will leave Axew very frail. Steelium Z allows for Axew to OHKO Spritzee at +1, Cottonee at +0, and Snubbull at +1. It also doesn't miss and never misses. The loss of Eviolite's bulk can be troublesome however.

Checks and Counters
===========

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types such as Spritzee and Snubbull are immune to Axew's Dragon-type moves and can easily take a Superpower. Though However, they have to be careful of Iron Tail or Poison Jab.

**Priority**: Axew suffers greatly to Sucker Punch Pokemons like Pawniard, which can be an issue. Croagunk's Vacuum Wave and Zigzagoon's Extreme Speed are threatening as well.

**Steel-types**: Axew's only move to go up against Steel-types is Superpower, and Superpower will later weaken axew since superpower decreases decrease Axew's the Attack and Defense by 1.
space
**Ice-type Moves**: They're There are a lot of Pokemons with good Ice-type coverage moves. Offensive Staryu can 2HKO Axew with Ice Beam, and bulky Water-types such as Chinchou can become a problem for Axew since Chinchou has have access to Ice Beam as well.

**Status**: Axew doesn't like being burned, paralyzed, (AC) or poisoned, since burn halves Axew's Attack, paralysis lowers its Speed, (AC) and poison chips away at its health, (comma) completely stopping Axew from sweeping effectively.
