[OVERVIEW]

• Phenomenal Steel/Fairy defensive typing that allows it to check Fairy, Dragon, Dark, Flying, and Psychic types which are all common in the Ubers metagame.
• Great 80/115/115 bulk which lets it survive many powerful hits on both sides of the spectrum and also possesses quite high 130 Special Attack alongside good coverage options which lets it also not be too passive.
• Great on Stall teams as it acts as a reliable answer to many special setup sweepers such as Xerneas, and Arceus-Dark with the use of Heart Swap.
• Is quite slow, which means that it will most likely always need to sustain a hit before performing an action.
• Does not have any form of reliable recovery, which means it needs to rely on niche option such as Pain Split on order to sustain itself.
• Lacks a form of wearing down opponents in Toxic, which means that it has a difficult time dealing with opposing Fire-types such as Primal Groudon and Ho-Oh due to the lack of options it has to counter them. This means that Magearna should always be paired with a partner that can deal with Fire-types such as Giratina-O or Arceus-Water.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

• Heart Swap allows Magearna to block setup sweepers from setting up and sweeping the team by exchanging stat boosts, especially from targets such as Geomancy Xerneas.
• Flash Cannon acts as a reliable Steel STAB option that allows Magearna to hit opposing Fairy and Rock types such as Xerneas and Rock-Arceus respectably.
• Fleur Cannon acts a powerful Fairy-STAB option that is able to deal great amount of damage against a majority of threats and compliments Heart Swap very well as it allows Magearna to pass the Special Attack drops onto the opposing foe.
• Pain Split acts as Magearna's only form of reliable recovery, and can actually gain a lot of HP back when facing high HP walls such as Lugia and Blissey.

Set Details
========

• Maximize HP and Special Defense to allow Magearna to be able to survive a special attack from a setup sweeper before using Heart Swap.
• Calm nature is used to maximize its Special Defense.
• Leftovers is used to provide as much sustainability as possible. Soul-Heart is also a great tool at gaining Special Attack boosts when a pokemon faints.

Usage Tips
========
  • Try to conserve Magearna's HP when facing threats such as Xerneas and Arceus-Dark, due to the fact that thhese setup sweepers can threaten to KO it after they gain a couple of boosts before Magearna can setup the Heart Swap.
  • Use Heart Swap after using Fleur Cannon to swap the Sp.Atk drop onto the opponent. Also do not use Heart Swap too frequently, as the opponent can predict it and capatilize on it by switching in on either Primal Groudon or Ho-Oh.
  • Since Magearna really cannot touch Fire-types such as Primal Groudon and Ho-Oh all to well, good double switching predictions is pivotal to not lose momentum.
  • Magearna is also quite passive, which is a flaw that the opponent can easily exploit by setting up hazards on it from things such as Deoxys-Speed and Ferrothorn. This means that pivoting out Magearna at the right moments is crucial as it dissalows your opponent from capitalizing on this flaw in a devastating way.

Team Options
========
  • Pokemon that are resist Fire-type attacks such as Primal Groudon, Ho-Oh, Arceus-Water, Arceus-Dragon, Arceus-Rock, Primal Kyogre, and Zygarde-C all serve as great partners for Magearna as they are able to synergize well it and can deal with its huge weakness to Fire-type foes.
  • A partner with a Ground immunity such as Lugia, Giratina-O or Yveltal could also be paired with Magearna to stop its checks such as Primal Groudon and Arceus-Ground from being a huge nuisance.
  • Stealth Rock support from Primal Groudon, or Excadrill can also be very important as it serves to weaken threats to Magearna such as Ho-Oh, Lugia, and even Primal Groudon.
  • Toxic users such as Arceus-Water, Lugia, and Blissey can also be great assets to Magearna as they can cripple and weaken Fire-types such as Primal Groudon and Ho-Oh, making Magearna's role a bit more easier to perform.

Other Options
=============
  • Volt Switch is another great option for Magearna that allows it to have momentum and be more of a bulky pivot which is great for bulkier teams to have, although this still does not allow it to switch out from Ground-types.
  • A set with Reflect can work with Magearna as it allows it to sustain itself from powerful physical attackers such as Zygarde-C and Arceus.
  • A Choice Specs set could also be used with Fleur Cannon, but Magearna is just too slow to actually pull of that set effectively.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Primal Groudon**: Primal Groudon is a great counter to Magearna as it resists both of Magearna's STAB options and is also immune to Volt Switch. Magearna's only option against Primal Groudon is to switch out as it really cannot do much against it.

**Fire-types**: Fire-types such as Ho-Oh and Reshiram resist both of Magearna's STAB attacks and can threaten it out with their own STAB Fire-type moves.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types such as Arceus-Ground, Excadrill and Zygarde-Complete also are an issue for Magearna due to them being faster then it and threatening to OHKO Magearna with their STAB Ground-type attacks.

**Physical Setup Sweepers**: Physical setup sweepers such as Arceus-Normal, Arceus-Ghost, Solgaleo, and Primal Groudon all do not care if Magearna steals their physical stat boosts, and can proceed to keep setting up on it.

**Ferrothorn**: Ferrothorn is able to sponge all of Megearna's attacks and be able to stall it out with Leech Seed and Protect. Ferrothorn can also setup layers of spikes on Magearna as well without an issue.

Flash Cannon should be the first slash in moveslot 3. Having a STAB move with more than 8 pp that hits Xern and Rockceus for super effective damage is better than T-Wave in a lot of situations ie when facing non-HO.

Fix the "Usage Tips" section. Right now it's entirely about Mega Lucario.

Add steel types to "Checks and Counters." Magearna can't do anything to Ferrothorn / Bronzong / etc. Remove Solgaleo from physical setup sweepers.

Specifically mention Giratina-O under "Team Options" (it can be under ground checks).

I think Volt Switch and Reflect are worth putting in OO. Volt Switch doesn't work on Ground-types obviously, but it can pivot out of things like Ho-Oh and Steel-types which can be useful. Reflect is a decent anti PDon move - while it doesn't hurt PDon itself, it makes it much easier for teammates to come in on it and limits its damage output for awhile.

Primal Kyogre can be added as a check, it can shrug off Fleur Cannon with its high special bulk and retaliate with Scald or Origin Pulse.

• Leftovers is used to provide as much sustainability as possible. Soul-Heart is also a great tool at gaining Special Attack boosts when KOing an opponent.

fyi magearna doesn't need to ko the opposing mon to get the boost, it just needs to be active when a mon faints (so if the opposing mon dies to burn mag still gets the boost)

Overview: Wouldn't focus too much on offensive options since Magearna isn't meant to be used as a bulky attacker, rather mention that 130 SpA allows it to easily dispose of the things it checks and can leave a dent in some switch-ins with Fleur Cannon. You should also mention that the lack of Toxic makes Magearna rather passive so it can struggle to fight back against its checks sometimes. Ho-Oh and Primal Groudon in particular come in on Magearna pretty easily and aside from chunking PDon for ~20% with Fleur Cannon there isn't much Magearna can do to either. This should be emphasized more - Magearna needs strong anti-Fire support.

I don't particularly like Thunder Wave here since it does nothing to Ground-types. Do what ZF said and put Flash Cannon first - Fleur Cannon only has 8 PP and you don't want to run out of it prematurely.

Usage Tips is pretty barren and could use a lot more information. Ways to pressure PDon/Ho-Oh through double switches is important. Magearna in general is pretty passive and Usage Tips should have some ideas on how to work around this.

Team Options needs a lot more work. Stealth Rock support is mandatory to help limit the damage Ho-Oh can do. I have no idea what the line "Pokemon that are immune to Fire-type attacks such as Primal Groudon and Ho-Oh synergize well with." even means - you should be mentioning solid answers to Fire-types like Arc-Water, Arc-Dragon. Arc-Ground, Zygarde-C, Primal Kyogre and Giratina-O. Another mon that can lure in and kill/Toxic PDon would also be a huge asset.

OO should probably just be Volt Switch/Reflect/Choice Specs. HP Fire can be mentioned to stop Ferrothorn from getting Spikes on it. Assault Vest is awful.

Primal Groudon should get its own bullet in Checks and Counters - Magearna has very limited options to harass it so this needs to be emphasized.

I was in the middle of making a post with the same sentiments as Fireburn - buff up the skeleton with his points + extra info as this is rather scarce for a skeleton thats gonna appear on site.

Question yourself - if you saw this on site (it will look EXACTLY like what is in the OP rn) would you gain anything useful from it? Treat it with the same information a full writeup would get as the only differences between our skeleton plans and what you saw on the ORAS dex is bullet points over full paragraphs and nothing else.

Overview: I would drop the coverage bullet and just mention it has good STAB options alongside good SpA to kill the stuff it checks. I don't think Magearna actually beats CM Lunala because of Roost so drop that mention.

Heart Swap bullet in moves should specify it is especially useful against Geomancy Xerneas.

You should mention in usage tips that Heart Swap should not be used too liberally, since it won't bother PDon or Ho-Oh switching in at all.

Giratina-O should be mentioned as a Ground immune partner. You should also mention specific Pokemon that can set up Stealth Rock.

For C&C, Reshiram can be added to Fire-types since Fleur Cannon can be tanked. Add Excadrill and Landorus-T to Ground-types. SD Ghostceus can be mentioned under physical setup sweepers. Also mention Ferrothorn as a counter since it can Spike all over Magearna and stall it out with Leech Seed.

Fix all this and I'll stamp.

The Ferrothorn bullet in C&C can be expanded to just Bulky Steel-types, since Klefki/Skarm can also Spike on Magearna, Celesteela harasses with Leech Seed, and Solgaleo is a good counter. Move Solgaleo from physical setup sweepers to here.

Rest looks fine now, QC 1/3

[OVERVIEW]

*Great on Stall teams as it acts as a reliable answer to many special setup sweepers such as Xerneas, and Arceus-Dark with the use of Heart Swap.

It's better on bulky offense / balance teams, stall teams have ample number of options to Xerneas and Arceus-Dark anyway.

Usage Tips
========

*Mention how Fleur Cannon should be used conservatively since it has only 8 PP.

Team Options
========

*On bulky offense teams, Yveltal can work well with Magearna as it shifts all of the momentum loss from Magearna.

A Choice Specs set could also be used with Fleur Cannon, but Magearna is just too slow to actually pull of that set effectively.
If you don't think a Pokemon can pull off a set, don't mention it in OO. Magearna has no offensive niche in Ubers, Choice Specs needs to be removed.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Physical Setup Sweepers**: Physical setup sweepers such as Arceus-Normal, Arceus-Ghost, (with recovery) Solgaleo, and Primal Groudon all do not care if Magearna steals their physical stat boosts, and can proceed to keep setting up on it.

Magearna can potentially detriment a chance of sweeping through attacking and using heart swap, however, if any offensive Arceus forme runs recovery, it's definitely hard walled by it.

*Yveltal with Heat Wave can lure Magearna and chunk it hard, especially since Magearna is considered as a hard wall to Yveltal. Players should be wary of this set.

Kindly implement the following, once you do you'll receive Gunner QC 2/3

This has sat around for too long with little writer activity towards it. I'm aware QC checking did take a bit to get to this stage, but after receiving 2 of them without any implementation or otherwise signs of life (last edited Jan 8th...) this will be reassigned.
