[OVERVIEW]
  • Galvantula is the strongest Sticky Web user in the tier and is able to threaten common hazard removers like Mantine and Gligar
  • It has a high speed tier and uses a strong STAB combination of Thunder and Bug Buzz.
  • It is relatively weak with only 92 Spatk meaning that it is reliant on Life Orb for good damage output.
  • Furthermore, it is frail with a mediocre defensive typing which means it struggles to switch in safely.

[SET]
name: LO Web Setter
move 1: Sticky Web
move 2: Thunder
move 3: Bug Buzz
move 4: Hidden Power Ice
item: Life Orb
ability: Compound Eyes
nature: Timid
evs: EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
========
  • Sticky Web is the main reason to use Galvantula and isused to slow down opposing grounded pokemon for the rest of the team
  • Thunder is the high power stab of choice, utilizing Compound Eyes to hit at a 91% accuracy rate.
  • Bug Buzz is Galvantula's secondary STAB and is used to hit grass types and other electric types.
  • Hidden power Ice is used to hit Gligar, a popular defogger, as well as preventing Galvantula from being set up bait to Dragon Dance Flygon.

Set Details
========
  • Life Orb is used to give Galvantula much needed power.
  • Max Speed and Max special attack are so that Galvantula hits as hard as possible and Timid Nature lets it outspeed Flygon and other base 100 Pokemon.
  • Compound Eyes gives Galvantula 91% accuracy Thunder.

Usage Tips
========
  • Because of its poor bulk, Galvantula needs to come in on predicted switches or weak attackers.
  • In most cases, you should try and set Sticky Web as soon as possible to give the rest of your team a speed advantage. After that is done, it is free to wall break.

  • In general it is a good idea to lead with Galvantula, unless you see something on the opposing team that can potentially outspeed and OHKO Galvantula. In that case it is better to find a later opportunity to set Sticky Web.

Team Options
========

  • Pair Galvantula with slow, hard hitters who can take advantage of Sticky Web like Nidoqueen, Hoopa and Honchkrow. Sticky Web allow these wallbreakers and sweepers to become more threatening as one of their biggest flaws,their speed, is mitigated.
  • As Flying type pokemon and Levitate users are immune to Sticky Web, use pokemon that can deal with common flying types like Swellow, such as Doublade, Aerodactyl, or Rhyperior.
  • Much of Galvantula's utility arises from keeping Sticky Web up throughout the entire game. Taunt users like Comfey and Mismagmius, and spinblockers like Jellicent, Dhelmise or other ghost types are recommended to help keep Sticky Web up.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Focus Sash for guaranteed Webs, but comes at the cost of a huge loss in power.
  • Energy Ball/Giga Drain to hit ground types, but comes at the cost of not hitting Gligar, a popular defogger.
  • Volt Switch can be used for momentum instead of Thunder or Hidden power ice but it means either losing its high power stab or a valuable coverage option respectively.

Checks and Counters
===================

  • **Nidoqueen**: Nidoqueen resists both Galvantula's Stabs and OHKO's Galvantula while Galvantula has only a low chance to 2hko with Hidden Power Ice.
  • **Dragalge** Dragalge is a strong wallbreaker that uses its typing to switch in comfortably on Galvantula and immediately threatens back with Adaptability boosted STAB attacks.
  • **Specially defensive walls**: Registeel, Diancie, Snorlax, Florges and most specially defensive walls can tank Galvantula's attacks and wall it completely.

(Slow) U-turn / Volt Switch are common ways of getting frail Pokémon in. Does the same apply here?

How soon? Does that mean you want to lead with Galvantula in most cases (in which case also mention when you don't want to leave)?

Banned deucer.
Not QC or anything but maybe you can add Defiant and Competitive users such as Braviary and Milotic as partners, since they can help scare off the use of Defog.

I forgot to mention this in my earlier post but rename the set to Sticky Web please

Do add Competitive Milotic in team options

add Bruxish to team options also alongside hoopa/honch/queen, add more threats in general. tyrantrum, specs garde, even salazzle since it benefits from scarfers like garde or hera getting slowed down
