RU Porygon2

[OVERVIEW]

Porygon2 has a solid niche on bulky offense teams, as it can spread paralysis with Thunder Wave and check a group of anti-offense Pokemon that no other Pokemon can, including Sharpedo, Swellow, Speed Boost Yanmega, and various Dragon Dance users such as Flygon and Feraligatr. It is one of the bulkiest walls thanks to its defensive stats alongside Eviolite and a solid Normal typing, which also lets it decently check many wallbreakers, such as Nidoqueen, Gardevoir, Roserade, and Mega Glalie. Porygon2 also has access to many good moves to help it at its job such as Thunder Wave, Foul Play, and the BoltBeam combination. Its ability Trace, which has decent utility in general, allows Porygon2 to copy abilities, such as Slowbro and Slowking's Regenerator, Nidoqueen's Sheer Force, Mantine's Water Absorb, Alolan Persian's Fur Coat, and Kommo-o's Bulletproof. Despite these perks, Porygon2 can be handled due to its reliance on Eviolite, which makes it weak to Knock Off, and its inability to use Leftovers, which makes it easily worn down by entry hazards and other form of residual damage. It's also weak to Fighting-types, namely Heracross, Pangoro, Virizion, and Kommo-o, which are very common and can easily beat Porygon2.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Recover is used to maintain Porygon2's longevity so that it's a consistent blanket check throughout the battle. Thunder Wave is used for some speed control, crippling fast threats such as Zoroark, Salazzle, and Virizion by halving their Speed stat. Ice Beam hits Dragon-, Grass-, Ground-, and Flying-types such as Tyrantrum, Venusaur, Gligar, and Swellow for super effective damage, and Thunderbolt hits Water-types such as Mantine and Feraligatr super effectively and most Ice-resistant Pokemon for neutral damage. Alternatively, Foul Play is a reliable move that significantly damages many of the physical attackers in the tier, such as Mega Glalie, Escavalier, and Doublade, as well as threatening other physical setup sweepers. Tri Attack can be used instead of Thunderbolt to hit a bit harder, but Porygon2 gets walled by Steel-types and Mantine without Thunderbolt. Toxic can be used instead of Thunder Wave to cripple bulkier Pokemon such as Cresselia, Mantine, and Slowbro.

Set Details
========

252 HP EVs maximize Porygon2's overall bulk, and 152 Special Defense EVs and a Calm nature allow Porygon2 to check most special attackers in the tier such as Nidoqueen, Choice Specs Zoroark, Choice Specs Swellow, and Moltres, as well as being able to stomach a +2 Acid Downpour from Salazzle. The remaining 104 EVs are put in Defense to increase physical bulk a bit, allowing it to check Sharpedo, Flygon, Honckrow, and Cloyster. The defense EVs in particular are very useful in allowing Porygon2 to stomach Adamant Flygon's Devastating Drake after Stealth Rock and KO back with Ice Beam. Eviolite makes Porygon2 bulkier, increasing both its defensive stats. Trace is Porygon2's best ability, as it allows it to copy the foe's ability. Download can be used instead of Trace to at times get a +1 boost in Special Attack and hit harder, but Trace has better overall utility.

Usage Tips
========

Porygon2 should avoid Knock Off and Trick at all costs, as it becomes far less useful without its Eviolite. Porygon2 can use its bulk to tank a hit from strong attackers such as Feraligatr and Gardevoir and cripple it with Toxic or Thunder Wave. Pivot Porygon2 into special attackers such as Nidoqueen, Dragalge, and Swellow; however, make sure you keep it healthy to ensure its ability to check threats and pivot. Use Trace to take advantage of the foe's ability, such as by switching into Kommo-o's Focus Blast and taking no damage by copying Kommo-o's Bulletproof; switching into Shaymin and recovering from status with Natural Cure; and switching into Slowbro and recovering HP with Regenerator. Porygon2 can also use Trace to spot Zoroark, as it can't copy Illusion. Keep Porygon2 away from status ailments, as Toxic reduces its staying power and wears it down, and paralysis can make it lose a turn of recovery and prevent it from outspeeding Pokemon such as Rhyperior. As Porygon2 lacks passive recovery, it should avoid switching in when there are entry hazards on its side of the field.

Team Options
========

As Porygon2 is useless without its Eviolite, it needs Knock Off and Trick switch-ins; Z-Crystal holders, Fighting-types, and Fairy-types such as Z-Heal Bell Diancie, Flame Orb Heracross, and Florges are good examples of them. Checks to Fighting-types, such as Florges, Gligar, and Slowbro, patch up Porygon2's weakness to them. A Heal Bell user such as Florges, Umbreon, and Diancie is needed, as Porygon2 is easily crippled by status. Jellicent is a decent stallbreaker that can act as a reliable check to bulky setup sweepers such as Snorlax, Reuniclus, and Cresselia and can switch into Fighting-type attacks. Doublade is also a decent check to Snorlax and Fighting-types, in general, and appreciates Porygon2's ability to switch into special attackers, but both are weak to Knock Off. Wallbreakers such as Shaymin and Moltres are appreciated, as Porygon2 struggles to break past walls and bulky teams. Nidoqueen and Roserade are two grounded Poison-types that can absorb Toxic Spikes and set entry hazards to pressure the opponent, as Porygon2 forces switches.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

An offensively oriented set with the ability Download; the moves Tri Attack, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, and Recover; and 84 EVs in Speed to outspeed Mantine with investment in Special Attack stat can be run. A Trick Room set can be used with Download; it struggles to beat most balanced teams but has a good matchup against offensive teams. A Z-Conversion set with Download makes a good alternative to the offensive and Trick Room sets if you want to run Porygon2 offensively, but it isn't recommended. Magic Coat bounces back entry hazards and status such as Mantine's Toxic, but using it requires careful prediction.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Knock Off Users**: As Porygon2 relies heavily on Eviolite to tank attacks, it loses much of its tanking ability if hit by Knock Off from the likes of Heracross, Donphan, and Zoroark.

**Fighting-types**: There are plenty of Fighting-types in the metagame. Heracross, Virizion, Pangoro, and Kommo-o can hit Porygon2 for super effective damage, although Virizion and Kommo-o can't switch safely on Ice Beam, and most of them are crippled by paralysis.

**Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers beat Porygon2 easily. Choice Band Bruxish and Choice Band Tyrantrum 2HKO Porygon2, Shaymin can use Seed Flare to drop Porygon2's Special Defense and 2HKO it at -2, and Choice Specs Gardevoir can easily break though Porygon2 with Focus Blast.

**Bulky Steel-types**: Bulky Steel-types such as Ferroseed, Registeel, and Bronzong can wall Porygon2 and proceed to cripple it or set up on it.

**Setup Sweepers**: Pokemon that do not mind Toxic or Thunder Wave, such as Calm Mind Reuniclus, Curse Snorlax, Calm Mind Espeon, and Substitute variants of Cresselia, can all use Porygon2 as setup bait

for set details specify that the given spdef evs live +2 z-sludge wave from salazzle after twave (after which it can twave it), while dumping the rest in def for more overall bulk. dont rewrite your sentence, just add that tidbit about z-sludge wave

replace analytic in set details with download and mention how it can be an annoyance with a +1 spatk boost

such as Z Stone holders, and fighting- and fairy-types such as Florges and Flame Orb.
and flame orb? e.e

z-heal bell diancie could see a mention there i guess? although neutrality to fighting kinda sucks

replace togetic mention w/ gligar

mention an offensive download set w/ 3 atks (boltbeam tri attack) and recover in OO with enough speed for mantine or possibly something faster

in c&c kommo and virizion might wanna be careful of eating an ice beam. mention pangoro

good job QC approved 1/3

Ok so for the 1st point in overview there you should mention specific targets. nidoqueen, sharpedo, flygon, and goodra are good things to put there. maybe u can think of more.

Remove the Espeon mention from team options. also for team options in general, I don't really mind what you have there right now, its good, but I'm assuming you'll expand on the things you have there now by explaining exactly why they're good teammates to have, cuz the current info you have is very barren. its ok tho since its in skeleton but I just wanna make sure.

Possibly add Jellicent there also. it beats the bulky setup sweepers (curselax, cm reun, what have you) reliably and can function as a makeshift fighting check. mention how doublade does ok in checking curselax too

Banned deucer.
mention in the overview that p2 is quite good on bulky offense. you usually use it on those teams to twave stuff and check anti-offense mons, so it's ideal that this is mentioned.

deslash tox bc twave is just really important on it on the kinds of teams u use it on.

also slash foul play with tbolt; it's good for stuff like doublade, escav, and glalie

Entry Hazards cripple Porygon2 and prevent it from being able to check Pokemon throughout the battle, hazard removers such as Mantine, Donphan, and Gligar backup is greatly aprreciated.
remove this since hazards aren't that bad for a mon that's not weak to them and has recovery. if we listed it for p2, we'd have to list it for just about everything.

**Bulky Steel-types**: Bulky Steel-types such as Ferroseed, Escavalier and Doublade can wall Porygon2 and proceed to cripple it or setup on it.
remove this and other mention of escav in checks and counters bc with foul play, it beats the latter two or at least change doublade and escav to registeel and bronzong

the rest is decent, so provided you get the above qc 2/3

[Overview]

- Speed Boost is kind of irrelevant for P2 to Trace. Nidoqueen's Sheer Force is important, especially considering P2 checks it quite well, so replace Speed Boost mention with this.

[Checks and Counters]

- Replace Sneasel with Zoroark under Knock Off users since Zoro can also disguise itself as something Porygon2 doesn't fear to lure it in (and it's more relevant)
- Mention Escavalier under Wallbreakers or Steel-types. It's one of the best in each category due to not fearing paralysis much as well as the fact it can threaten with Knock Off as well if it doesn't want to risk a Megahorn miss for some reason
- Note that Substitute variants of Calm Mind Cresselia (not as common as Moonlight variants) can easily use Porygon2 as setup fodder as long as it dodges status on the switch in

Make these adjustments and consider this QC Approved 3/3

[OVERVIEW]

Porygon2 has a solid niche in on bulky offense teams, as it can spread paralysis with Thunder Wave and check Pokemon that threaten offense Offensive teams. It is one of the bulkiest walls thanks to its defensive stats coupled to the possibility of running with Eviolite, (RC) with alongside a solid Normal typing, Porygon2 is able to which lets it decently check decently a big portion of the tier, such as Flygon, Sharpedo, Nidoqueen, Goodra, Swellow, Roserade, Moltres, and Yanmega. (are these all relevant? maybe remove one or two; list is a bit too long) And Also, it has access to many good moves, such as Thunder Wave, Toxic, Foul Play, (AC) and the BoltBeam combination "BoltBeam", making it even better (too generic; what do these moves do? i assume thunder wave and toxic allow it to provide support?). Adding to that, Its ability, (RC) Trace, which has a decent utility in general, making allows Porygon2 able to copy opponent's abilities, such as Slowbro and Slowking's Regenerator, Nidoqueen's Sheer Force, Mantine and Seismitoad's Water Absorb, Alolan Persian's Fur Coat, and Kommo-o's Bullet Proof, and take advantage of them, such as Slowbro and Slowking's Regenerator, Nidoqueen's Sheer Force, Mantine and Seismitoad's Water Absorb, Persian-Alola's Fur Coat and Kommo-o's Bulletproof. (flow) Despite all those good points, Porygon2 can be handled due to its reliance on its Eviolite, which makes it weak to Knock Off, and due to its its inability to use Leftovers, (AC) which makes its easily worn down by entry hazards stack. It's also weak to Fighting-types, namely Heracross, Pangoro, Virizion and Kommo-o, which are very present common and can easily beat Porygon2.

Recover is used to maintain Porygon2's longevity to be a so that it's a consistent blanket check throughout the battle. Thunder Wave is runned used for some speed control, as it cripples fast threats such as Zoroark, Salazzle, and Virizion by halving their Speed stat. Ice Beam is the first coverage move, which hits Dragon-, Grass-, Ground-, and Flying-types for super effective damage (this is cool but unless you mention key examples or why it's relevant that it hits said types, you're just stating basic type effectiveness), while and Thunderbolt, the second coverage move, hits Water-types super effectively (same thing here) and most of the types that resist Ice Beam with most Ice-resistant Pokemon for neutral damage. Alternatively, (AC) Foul Play is a reliable move that causes a lot of damages to many of the physical attackers in the tier, such as Mega Glalie, Escavalier, and Doublade, as well as threatening other physical setup sweepers. Tri Attack can be used instead of Thunderbolt to hit a bit harder, but Porygon2 gets walled by Steel-types and Mantine without Thunderbolt. Toxic can be used instead of Thudner Thunder Wave to cripples cripple more bulkier Pokemons, such as Cresselia, Mantine, (AC) and Slowbro.

Set Details

252 HP EVs are put in HP stat in order to maximize Porygon2's overall bulk, (AC) while and 152 Special Defense EVs and a Calm nature allows allow Porygon2 to check most special attackers in the tier such as Nidoqueen, Choice Specs Zoroark, Choice Specs Swellow, and Moltres, as well as being able to stomach a +2 Z-Sludge Wave from Salazzle. The remaining 104 EVs are put in Defense to keep a bit of physical bulk, allowing it to check Sharpedo, Flygon, Honckrow, and Cloyster. Eviolite is what makes Porygon2 that bulky, as it increases its both defensive stats. Trace is Porygon2's best ability, as it allows it to copy opponent the foe's ability. Download can be used instead of Trace to catch a +1 boost in Special Attack and hit harder, but Trace has a better overall utility.

Usage Tips
========

Porygon2 should avoid Knock Off and Trick at any cost, as it becomes a deadweight without its Eviolite. Pivot Porygon2 into special attackers such as Nidoqueen, Dragalge, and Swellow.(RP) ; (SC) however, make sure you keep it healthy to ensure its ability to check threats and pivot. Use Trace to take advantage of opponent the foe's ability, as it allows it to such as by switching into Kommo-o's Focus Blast and take taking no damage from Focus Blast by copying Kommo-o's Bulletproof,(RC) ; (SC) and switching into Shaymin and recovering from status by switching into Shaymin and tracing with Natural Cure,(RC) ;(SC) and switching into Slowbro and recovering its HP by tracing Slowbro's with Regenerator (hopefully this sounds better). Porygon2 can also use Trace to spot Zoroark, as it can't copy Illusion. Keep it away from status ailments, as Toxic reduces it's its staying power and wears it down,(RC) and paralysis can make it loses lose a turn of recovering and not able to prevent it from outspeeding Pokemons Pokemon such as Rhyperior. As Porygon2 lacks passive recovery, it should avoid switch-on switching in when there's there are entry hazards on its field. Pivot Porygon2 into special attackers such as Nidoqueen, Dragalge, and Swellow. (moved this to a more relevant place)

Team Options

As Porygon2 is useless without its Eviolite, (AC) it needs Knock Off and Trick switch-in's switch-ins backup,(RC) ; (SC) Z-Stone (AH) holders, and Fighting-types, (AC) and Fairy-types such as Florges, Z-Heal Bell Diancie, (AC) and Flame Orb Heracross, (AC) and Florges are good examples of them. Fighting-types Checks to Fighting-types, such as Florges, Gligar, and Slowbro, to patch up Porygon2's weakness to them Fighting-types in the current metagame. (don't refer to the "current" metagame, as it can change) Heal Bell users such as Florges, Umbreon, and Diancie are needed, as Porygon2 is easily crippled by status. Jellicent is a decent stallbreaker that can act as a reliable check to Pokemon such as Snorlax, Reuniclus, and Cresselia (what do these pokemon share in common? are they bulky pokemon that porygon2 struggles against? "Pokemon" is just too vague, replace it with something more specific), as well as being able to and can switch into Fighting-type attacks. Doublade is also a decent check to Snorlax and Fighting-types in general, (RC) and appreciates Porygon2's ability to switch into special attackers, but both are weak to Knock Off. Wallbreakers, such as Shaymin and Moltres, are appreciated, as Porygon2 struggles to break past walls and bulky teams. Nidoqueen and Roserade are two grounded Poison-types that can absorb Toxic Spikes and set hazards to pressure the opponent, as Porygon2 forces switches.

An offensively oriented set with Download and Tri Attack, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, and Recover with 84 EVs in Speed stat to outspeed Mantine and below and investement investment in Special Attack stat can be ran. A Trick Room set can be used with Download,(RC) ; (SC) it struggles to beat most balanced teams but has a good match-up against offensive teams. A Z-Conversion set with Download as ability can makes a good alternative to the offensive and Trick Room sets if you want to run Porygon2 offensively, but it ain't isn't recommanded recommended. amcheck; the grammar wasn't that good :( so I did make quite a few changes. I might have changed a bit too much but I'm sure that they improve flow, but let me know if you have any questions about my changes. also, I'd recommend you implement this check because it'll help the next GPer go over this :)

Set Details
========

Eviolite makes Porygon2 more bulky bulkier, (ac) increasing both its defensive stats. Trace is Porygon2's best ability, as it allows it to copy the foe's ability. Download can be used instead of Trace to (at times? since it's not a guaranteed thing like it's implied right now) get a +1 boost in Special Attack and hit harder, but Trace has better overall utility.

Usage Tips
========

Porygon2 should avoid Knock Off and Trick at all costs, as it becomes deadweight without its Eviolite.

========

Heal Bell users such as Florges, Umbreon, and Diancie are needed (most teams don't really run multiple clerics, so if that's what you're going for, change to "A Heal Bell user such as Florges, Umbreon, and Diancie is needed), as Porygon2 is easily crippled by status. Jellicent is a decent stallbreaker that can act as a reliable check to bulky setup sweepers such as Snorlax, Reuniclus, and Cresselia and can switch into Fighting-type attacks. Doublade is also a decent check to Snorlax and Fighting-types, (ac) in general, (ac) and appreciates Porygon2's ability to switch into special attackers, but both are weak to Knock Off.

Other Options
=============

An offensively oriented set with the ability Download; (semicolon) the moves and Tri Attack, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, and Recover; (semicolon) with and 84 EVs in Speed to outspeed Mantine and with investment in Special Attack stat can be ran run.

===================
