I built this team around Scarf Tini + Haze Fini. I thought it would be funny to Haze all of V-Create's negative effects and punch multiple times with V-Create, but that has never actually happened in practice. Haze is just a necessary move with Snorlaxes around so that's an added bonus. Tectonic Rage Lando is a nice way to get rid of Ttar and Heatrans, which annoy Victini. You should probably use Mence over Pinsir but I'm sick of the meta and want something fun.

It's 3-0 in ssnl atm:

I had in my head that voting ended at midnight instead of noon, oops! Lolk and Checkmater are tied, but with my vote Checkmater wins the week! His team and description will be added to the Hall of Fame.

This week, we'll be building around Aegislash! With a set of handy resistances, pseudo-base 720 stats, and a decent movepool with strong STAB attacks and support moves like Wide Guard and Substitute, Aegislash is rarely deadweight. However, the availability of Z-Moves has made its Wide Guard set less effective due to its inability to be a solid stop to Pokemon like Zygarde, Volcarona, and Landorus-T, simply getting taken out by their attacks while it tries to protect an ally. Still, resisting Fairy, Flying, and Rock type attacks is quite helpful in this metagame, and it is decently versatile in its moves, item choices, and EV Spreads.

Deadline of building is Tuesday, May 23rd at noon EST!

  • mega charizard y and aeigslash have general good synergy type wise, wide guard shields from rock slide, both benefit from tailwind
  • zapdos was added to make it a tailwind team, since i already have 3 medium-low speed pokemon with its addition. it's also another reliable landorus answer
  • tapu fini was added because i feel its one of the water types that doesnt mind sun too much, and allows me to reset terrain. beats heatran
  • zyguard makes a good core with zapdos and tapu fini, gives me more heatran checks, offering more spread, speed control and set up along the way, added to the solid resists of dragon type
  • hoopa abused tailwind excellently, and dents general trick room setters since i seem to be running a bit short on some checks for trick room

I wanted a more offensive Aegislash but WP required it to get hit by a super-effective attack first, so I instead went with Life Orb to get that boost without any prior damage necessary. Mamoswine's takes care of Lando-T, MegaMence, and Heatran pretty nicely, especially with Ice Shard to clean up KOs. With AV, Mamoswin can survive Modest max Sp Atk Z Eruption Heatran and Modest max Sp Atk MegaZard Y Overheat. I wanted some terrain and a fast attacker that could cover for Water types, so I went with Electrium Z Tapu Koko, which nukes everything that doesn't resist. It has Taunt for Trick Room. Gyarados is a nice Intimidate user, and making it Mega gives it a more desirable damage output, a Ghost resist, and a check against opposing Aegislash. Shaymin-Sky cleans up all of the Pokemon Koko can't. Blaziken was the last Pokemon added because I wanted Fighting coverage, needed quick Grass coverage, and wanted a Grass-Fire-Water core. Very hyper offensive team. EDIT: This team has now won a DOU tournament. Don't know if that means much.

From a teambuilding process standpoint, this is a more of an incidental team with Aegislash than one that is built around one. Still, the team showcases Aegislash's utility with Wide Guard and great defensive typing. Zapdos Fini is so good it was the initial concepts of the team, as the rest of the team revolves around trying to counteract their Zapdos / Fini checks such as Snorlax into a tough spot with the firepower. The goal of the team was in two parts: to be a bulky offensive team that has strong firepower to break vs. the Zapdos Fini Snorlax type of teams, yet still has a decent defensive backbone to soak damage vs. Psyspam Hyper Offense. Aegislash lets me check those Psyspam teams with the help of Fini and Charizard.

Corkscrew Crash on Aegislash is unconventional but threatens Tyranitar and Snorlax much more than a simple Flash Cannon, and allows me 3 options to bring Snorlax down from above 50%, effectively ignoring the berry. Wide Guard has good synergy with the Fire-types that appreciate the counterplay to Muddy Water / Rock Slide / Earthquake.

Easily one of my finest creations and my most succesful attempt at wielding the pex. Chip damage is the name of the game and the idea is get up hazards and chip things down until they're in range of dying to hoopa+friends under trick room. Pex does no damage but can support the team in a pinch, t spikes are also cash. Chansey soaks up them hits all day while zard dishes out clean damage in and out of TR. Sub toxic aegis is super lit and is nice for lax/zapdos/assorted bulky shit hanging around these parts. Lando is really fat to take on opposing lando and the stray fighting-type/hoopa that threaten me. I swear this shit isnt as bad as it looks, i have really used it before.
