Rise of the NFE! C$FP vs Dummy007 with a noob ref!

Looking out at the beautiful ASB Arena, it appears we have one avid spectator today (his name is Ted) for this quick little match, Dummy007 squaring off against C$FP!

2v2 Doubles
1 Day DQ
0 Recovery/ 0 Chills

Switch = Hammer Time
Items are on
All abilities can be used

The two competitors send out their fighters, and here they are:

C$FP's Duo:
Gears the Klang
Pimplup the Prinplup

Dummy007's Duo:
Boy 409 the Swadloon

WHOA! What the heck is going on? It appears that Dummy's Seedot is evolving! As a Nuzleaf, its new stats are:

Simon Heap the Nuzleaf

Nuzleaf will begin with only 80 EN

The match will go like this:
C$FP decides on which items to use
Dummy007 decides on which items to use, then orders his first actions
C$FP orders his actions
I ref

For easy reference, the order in which the pokes will go (based on Speed) is:

Simon Heap -> Pimplup -> Gears -> Boy 409

Trainers, begin the battle!

C$FP Jan 5th, 2012 8:00:50 PM

Hmmm, this may be a tough battle to win. I'll give Gears a Metal Coat and Pimplup a Life Orb.

Dummy007 Jan 5th, 2012 9:31:41 PM

(Note that, upon evolving, Simon Heap picks up Razor Leaf, Pound, Fake Out, and Torment as Level 25-or-lower moves.)

"Boy 409, take this Lucky Egg; Simon Heap, take an Exp. Share! We're going to need all the luck and exp. we can get to beat Klang..."

Summary:
Boy 409: Sunny Day -> Struggle Bug -> Razor Leaf; if Pimplup uses Rain Dance on Action 2, change Action 3 to Sunny Day
Simon Heap: Fake Out Gears -> Hidden Power Gears -> Torment Pimplup; if Gears uses Protect on Action 1, redirect Fake Out to Pimplup

C$FP Jan 5th, 2012 9:46:25 PM

"I love the smell of a couple of good battle items in the morning."

Pimplup: Ice Beam (Simon Heap) * 2, Icy Wind

Gears: Flash Cannon (Simon Heap), Gear Grind (Simon Heap), Flash Cannon (Simon Heap)
IF Simon Heap faints, THEN target Boy 409

Boring calcs and stuff:
...

And the battle has begun! Quick as a flash, Simon Heap, even without his brother's magical abilities, rushed forward and used Fake Out on Gears, obviously catching the Steel type off guard. Pimplup was quick to retaliate though, and struck Simon with a powerful Ice Beam! Boy 409 brought in some sunshine with Sunny Day while Gears could not do anything. Suddenly, Dummy's duo started getting a giant boost from Chlorophyll, and now are practically dancing around the arena at blistering speeds!

Simon then unleashes what power he does have, and it does massive damage bolstered by the Sun Boy 409 just gave. Boy 409 then sent out a vibration of Struggle Bug, which did not do much damage, but lowered the SpA of both Gears and Pimplup! However, the penguin pimp does what it did last time, majoring injuring the plant with a super-effective Ice Beam. Gears then uses his namesake to trap Simon and Grinds, almost knocking poor Simon off his feet.

Simon, seemingly already on low health, decided to Torment Pimplup. Boy 409 went on the offensive and fired multiple, Razor-sharp leaves at Pimplup, hitting the penguin for tons of damage with a critical hit, as well as hitting Gears hard too! The pimp then let out an icy-cold breath, and Dummy's duo slowed down a bit, almost to where they were before the Sun came up! Gears let out a powerful Flash Cannon, striking Simon square in the chest. The poor plant was rocketed back into the wall, crashing into it. It appears that the Nuzleaf is down...

BUT WAIT! This is amazing! Simon still has the strength to hold on, but I'm not sure how much more he can take...

Can Dummy007 turn this around, or will C$FP turn out to be victorious?!

Current Speed list:
Simon -> Pimplup -> Boy 409 -> Gears

Dummy007 Jan 6th, 2012 5:40:14 AM

Sunny Day activates Simon and Boy 409's Chlorophyll, meaning Boy 409 should have moved second on actions 2 and 3. Also, some of these calcs seem awfully high, especially Struggle Bug. (For comparison, for my Struggle Bug calc on Gears, I got (4 + 3 + 1*1.5 - 3*1.5) * 0.66 = 2.666 ~ 3 damage.)

waterwarrior Jan 6th, 2012 2:19:38 PM

Sorry about bad calcs, I used the damage calculator (dis one), not the long form.

EDIT: All done! If you look, you'll see that everyone has MUCH higher health now (EN stays the same of course). Updating prose. Also Dummy, for future calcs, you ADD 1.5 to the Atk/ Def bonus, not multiply

From what I understand, that means that a Rank 1 will receive a damage bonus equal to 1*1.5, a Rank 2 will receive a bonus equal to 2*1.5, a Rank 3 will receive 3*1.5, etc. So, as opposed to a Rank 3 getting 3 + 3*1.5 = 7.5, it would only get 3*1.5 = 4.5. Basically, the actual rank doesn't go into the calculation; only the bonus does.

Regardless...

(I'm assuming all of C$FP's attacks are directed at Simon Heap until he faints.)

"Let's take advantage of Boy 409's heightened speed!"

Summary:
Boy 409: Protect Simon Heap -> Razor Leaf -> Me First Gears
Simon Heap: Hidden Power + Hidden Power combo Gears -> Cool Down -> Hidden Power Gears

Dummy, stop being right about math stuffs. Thank you. Anyways, I'll just do that from this round on, its not a huge difference anyways.

Calcs and shit, yo:
...

Here we are at the second round! Immediately, Simon drew his inner power again and smacked Gears with a Sun-boosted, super-effective attack! Pimplup then pumped out a massive amount of water from his body, and Simon fell down! He couldn't take any more! Boy 409, seeing his partner fall, rushed up to Pimplup and bit down on him like a bug! Gears attempted to counter-attack by crushing the Swadloon in its gears, but the attack missed completely!

Pimplup, now the fastest thing on the field, stretched his body and let out a loud Yawn, but now Boy 409 seems tired too! Struggling to stay awake, Boy 409 pulled a bunch of leaves from the nearby trees and threw them at C$FP's side, hitting Pimplup right where it matters for a critical hit, as well as scoring damage on Gears. The Klang then shot out a massive ball of Steel-like energy, but thanks to its stat drop, Boy 409 is still able to hold strong!

Just as Pimplup began, he spat out yet another Hydro Pump, and Boy 409, even with the resist, is having trouble absorbing these hits! The Swadloon then used Me First to use Gear Grind on Gears himself, then Gears used Gear Grind too!

Current Speed list:
Pimplup -> Boy 409 -> Gears

Dummy007 Jan 7th, 2012 9:54:04 PM

How was Boy 409 slower than Pimplup? 42 * 2/3 * 2 = 56, 6 points faster than Pimplup.

C$FP Jan 7th, 2012 9:59:51 PM

I'm pretty sure the way the Speed boosts/drops work is that you multiply or divide by 1.75 for each stage (dividing in this case, as it's a drop).

waterwarrior Jan 7th, 2012 10:26:15 PM

C$FP is correct (sorta, he's right for -1 Speed, but it's different for other stages). Chlorophyll was x2, then Icy Wind divided the new total by 1.75, making it able to outspeed Gears, but not Pimplup.

Dummy007 Jan 7th, 2012 10:31:42 PM

The Referee Training Grounds give it as a 2/3 multiplier, but the SotG discussion said it was a 1.75 multiplier...that was then heavily argued about and left inconclusive. Assuming it is /1.75, I would like to request a redo of the last round because I made all my actions under the impression that Boy 409 would outspeed Pimplup (and by that I mean change Simon's combo to a single attack and change Boy 409's first action to Bug Bite Pimplup).

C$FP Jan 7th, 2012 10:36:08 PM

Yeah, I think that's fair. (The DAT says 1.75, and I don't think the referee training grounds is kept up to date. Example: that damage calculator waterwarrior had been using)

waterwarrior Jan 8th, 2012 10:28:14 AM

Both of you are in agreement? Awesome.

Made changes to Action 1, finally got in the remaining prose. Make your move Dummy!

Dummy007 Jan 9th, 2012 4:21:37 PM

"Well, I'm pretty much done for no matter what I do. gg, C$FP."

Summary:
Endure -> Flail Pimplup -> Flail Pimplup

C$FP Jan 9th, 2012 8:54:17 PM

Pimplup: Ice Beam, Icy Wind, Ice Beam

Gears: Toxic, Gear Grind, Gear Grind
IF Toxic misses, THEN use it again

waterwarrior Jan 9th, 2012 9:12:08 PM

EDIT: misunderstanding Torment LIKE A BOSS!

gimme a few minutes

C$FP Jan 9th, 2012 9:18:47 PM

I didn't use Ice Beam or Icy Wind last round, so it doesn't matter.

waterwarrior Jan 9th, 2012 9:54:26 PM

Thank you again for allowing me to ref this, it was a great game from both sides!

Its the FINAL CALCDOWN!
...

As we enter what appears to be the final round of our battle, Boy 409 stares down two opponents who have a lot of energy left! Trying to save his own butt, Boy 409 braces itself to endure any damaging attacks this round (insert Game of Thrones meme here). Pimplup draws in a cold breath and lets out an Ice Beam, dealing major damage to the falling Swadloon. Gears (somehow) decided to throw out some Toxic gunk at Boy, bypassing his Endure! Boy's drowsiness from Pimplup's previous Yawn finally kicks in, and Toxic is dealing damage as well!

Pimplup draws another cold breath, letting out an Icy Wind this time, knocking Boy 409 down to his last legs. With the effect from the Icy Wind, Gears is able to outspeed Boy and Grind it. It appears that Dummy's final mon will faint, but that Endure from last action won't let it! However, Endure can't cure all of its problems, and finally falls to its Toxic!

C$FP wins the match!
