BW VGC '10 usage statistics

Here's a glimpse at what the future VGC may look like or for anyone interested in what Pokemon were used during the course of the recent tourney in the 5th Gen GS Cup tier on Skarmbliss server. Thanks to Ryuzaki for providing the statistics.
http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/pokemon/382.png#1. (38.79 %)
None other than Kyogre topped the usage charts sporting massively powerful Rain Boosted attacks.
http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/pokemon/460-f.png#2. (35.36 %)
Abomasnow who does reasonably well against Kyogre and allows 100% accurate Blizzard for itself and many other attackers comes in at second.
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-bw/evo/483.png#3. (33.26 %)
Incredibly versatile with great typing and bulk, it can perform many roles from Trick Room to firing off monstrously powerful Dragon Gem Draco Meteors.

Considering Species clause, Giratina is technically at 4th. Massive Bulk, Ghost/Dragon typing granting immunity to Fake Out, to a lesser extent Explosion, and handy resistances, including Water, appear to carry it a long way.
http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/pokemon/484.png#4. (21.58 %)
Not Kyogre's best match up. Palkia is also incredibly versatile capable of Trick Room, Haban Berry attacker, and is the fastest, strongest uber with access to the incredibly powerful Dragon Gem Draco Meteor.

I'm a little surprised Hitmontop wasn't higher, Wide Guard allows it to block the attacks of many popular pokemon including Groudon, Kyogre, Aboma, and it still seems like a great Fake Out/Intimidate supporter to me. The three new Ubers all had relatively low usage with kyurem only making a mere 0.33%. Maybe these new forms will step it up for what Nintendo dubbed the most powerful Dragon on Earth...

* were the Pokemon on Sixonesix's final team.

I feel funny knowing that I only used one of the most used mons on that list. It's interesting, although you have to consider new formes for mons being given in the new games as well as potential move tutor moves! These things could change the meta entirely. However, according to this, Kyogre might be the most popular thing again if the meta is like 2010.

Is it likely that VGC 13 will have the same rules as 10 did? If so I'm gonna be so hyped!!

I don't think there's been any official indication in any direction, but I think it's likely since the metagame would get kind of stale if they did (mostly) the same thing two years in a row.

I find myself suprised with where Zekrom stands. Scarf that thing and watch Kyogre tremble in fear...

These statistics aren't too surprising this early. Its going to be interesting now with team preview revealing your choice of uber. People will most likely pack 3 ubers and 3 non ubers. 2010 has always been my favorite. It'll be interesting to see how a b/w 2010 vgc would be.

Don't even need to scarf it. More of the high ranking teams used Groudon, I bet.

# 155 - Magikarp (0.04 %)

# 194 - Rhyperior (0.02 %) (Aka one of the best Trick Room mons that exists)

...
What the hell is this

Dimsun Jun 13th, 2012 1:00:42 PM

Flail Magikarp is stronger then rhyperior when Kyogre and Hitmontop are two of the most common mons in the meta obviously.

Really looking forward to VGC '13 being like this, it was fun using ubers in '10. Like the infamous top/ogre lead...

You really must treat Giratina and Giratina O as two separate species. I realize that because of the VGC rules you can only have one or the other on your team, but putting their usage together like that doesn't really accurately match how people are using them. They're two completely different pokemon. Different abilities, different base stats. Lots of people used Giratinas and lots of people used Giratina Os, but they really weren't the same at all. The only people that would run a Giratina with 252 Atk would Scarf it. I don't recall hearing of anyone using a Giratina O with much bulk.

sandman Jun 13th, 2012 3:58:33 PM

I really like to have them together for that reason though because of species Clause, you can't have both on your team. I kind of think of formes as just different variations/sets a Pokemon can run. Regardless you can see their separate usage in the actual statistics.
