Heh all the CAPs are in the top 10, and 3 in the top 5, interesting... Not surprised to see Stratagem at #1, it's new and pretty good and everyone wants to use it. Rev at #2 isn't surprising either, first time I hopped onto the CAP server I was swept by one ?_?. I guess Salamence not being in the top 10 is a bit of a surprise to me. Thanks Doug and congrats on double star ;)

Thank you for all the hard work, but I kinda feel it was in vain. These stats further prove that we have almost no solid user base, as evidenced from Pyroak at #10 and Gastrodon at #40. X-Act is calculating the OU list as we speak, but I'd suggest that unless stats and battles pick up soon, CAP OU should be defined as standard OU plus the five CAP Pokemon.

Here's what the CAP OU list would look like if we took only the November stats into account:
OU Quota: 191 usages. Frequently-used Quota: 891 usages. CAP OU: Code:

Tennis, this just shows that there are less people on the server is all. Obviously, server regulars hold much more sway over stats on our server than on Smogon server simply because the ratio of server regulars to total usage is much higher. So if one of you whores a Pokemon for a week or so, it will be at the bottom of the OU list.
And Pyroak is so high because he is one of the reasons to come to the server. Why battle on CAP if you don't use the new Pokemon? (Don't say the people there, shush I'm talking competitive reasons). I do agree with using regular OU top 5 though, as it allows more people to be involved and creating a Pokemon to check other CAP Pokemon seems wrong. |
Thanks Doug/X-Act. This will really help with CaP6!

Interesting info, I did a quick comparision between this and last months standard OU list and found what was different between the two. The results are very interesting.
In Standard but not CaPs' Ou Alakazam Breloom Cresselia Donphan Dragonite Dusknoir Electivire Fortress Gallade Ninjask Jolteon Rotom H and W Snorlax Weavile Yanamega Non Caps in Cap but not in standard Rotam A Granted Im using last months list for standard, so its not a 100% comparision. |

Gastrodon is a bit more suppriseing but its not that bad really, it can be quite effective in some situations and 40 is not massively high. Really metagame changes must be expected when we start getting a good few CaP's into action. Sure we don't have anywhere near as many battles as SU but 2700+ on ladder and 2100+ Unrated is nothing to be disapointed with. Anyway for the stats I think that Strata will drop down a bit once the OMG NEW PKMN MUST TRY! thing wearns off and people start to see its not that hard to stop, but it should stay top 10 due to its speed and variability. HP Fly did not make it onto Zappy unfortuanatly, but maybe next time. Rev still almost always has the same set, with a few Ice Punchers or Shadow Punchers here and there. Interesting trends with Fidgit, top lead by quite a way and a very variable movepool. 12 moves made it to the stats with the most common, Earth Power, getting onto only 69% of movesets. *Checks Oak* :toast: yay 35% Toxic, much better than last time. |
The fact that fidgit continues to get used as a lead despite being stopped by basically every common one i don't get. As well as wish not being a standard move on it.
Good to see that technician is actually more used then levitate on strata, despite a lot of people myself including thinking it would be made redundant because of levitate. |
Lets see if I can justify those who got left out of CaP OU (thanks Kammen):
In Standard but not CaPs' OU Alakazam Revenged by Strata and many who whoudl use it could be inclined to pick Strata over it. Rev can kill with SS, Syclant outsped for most of the month, Oak could take its attacks, beats down Fidgit. Only just made normal OU. Not a surprise. Breloom Yea.. Loom really hates every CaP for a different reason. Not a surprise. Cresselia Wait what? Well Ant can 1KO after a TG (close with just LO), Rev can set up on it under some conditions, Oak stalls it to death (even CM). This is a bit unexpected as it is decent against some CaPs and a solid OU in normal, but oh well. Donphan Barely in normal OU. Rev/Oak/Ant/Strata setup on ot beat it. Dragonite Little odd but Oak can wall for a while as can some Rev. Strata and Ant may be able to revenge under some conditions. Dusknoir Revenankh all but replaced it. Electivire Walled very badly by Oak, never was that good in normal. Fortress Can't wall the top Physical threat (Rev) and is set up bait for it. Rev also blocks Rapid Spin. Fidgit can encore and set up on it, Oak can wall and 1KO. Many Strata have a fire attack. yea I can see this one. Gallade Flying attacks give it a hard time? Dunno about this one really. Never used/played against it much so I don't know what it has problems with. Ninjask Less noobs? Jolteon Walled by Rev/Oak/Fidgit. Strata may take its team spot as fast special sweeper. Rotom H and W We have Rotom A which includes these. Snorlax Rev/Strata/some Fidgit setup bait, Oak can normally cripple. Still I would expect it to scrape OU but evidently not. Weavile Oak walls, Strata revenges, Rev can set up on some sets. Tar is better for Pursuiting/sweeping normally. Yanamega Really? I always thought it would do decently in CaP.. Flying is such a good STAB here. I suppose Strata could avoid a 1KO and revenge it, Rev.. dunno really. I think Yan would win with flinchhax normally. Oak would be close, nether could switch in. Fidgit could hold it off for a few turns. And as we have less people we can't try out as many Pokemon as normal or switch teams as much. Therefore will will have more "backround noise" and our meta will appear more centralised. |

Overall, this is a problem. CaPs should not be overpowering, I think it's really time we start making CaPs on the premise that they have built-in weaknesses. Allowing standard pokemon to compete with them, rather than CaPs replacing them all together. I don't see a major problem with syclant's placement, and pyroak fits in perfectly, but in order to gain credibility, The Top 3 should not be dominated by CaPs. Congrats Doug and X-Act on admin. |

Heh, according to the moveset statistics I used my Trick Room team exactly 37 times this month, and my Stratagem team about 38 times.
|
I love the way Bulk Up and Hammer Arm's usages are so close

But Gallade is a strong sweeper with BU or SD and bears a Super Effective STAB attack against Revvy, sure you are not going to switch in on it but one on one I think it could come out on top. However thinking about it more Rev does generally outclass it as a part Fighting type Bulky stat upper, that may be the main reason for its decline. |
I wouldn't use Gallade on the CaP server not because it's outclassed by Revenankh, but because of Gallade's physical frailty. Even with a super effective STABbed move on Revenankh, Rev still comes out on top thanks to Shadow Sneak.
On the other hand, Rev can actually take super effective hits from something like Gallade thanks to the easy boosts from Bulk Up and its inherent bulkiness, even with little EV investment. |
Is it that physically frail? *checks* ahh.. 68/65 defences. I see the problem.
But still most Rev have little or no Atk investment and a 40 BP attack even with STAB is not that threatening. Gallade's 125 base attack Sword Dance, Bulk Up and STAB Psycho Cut would surely win most of the time. Nether could switch into the other (Rev could revenge a weakened SD Gal I suppose) but yea.. I doubt that 1 on 1 with no boost on ether side Rev would win. Edit: Now that I think more, maybe.. yea it could go ether way. *does calcs* |
I think Rev has an easier time coming in on Gallade than the other way around. Gallades runs Close Combat as its fighting move of chocie so if it gets a KO with it, it gets a defense drop on an already dismal defense, easy target for Rev, the problem gets even worse if its a life orb user.
Alternativly, Rev normally scores KOs with a few bulk ups on its belt and hammer arm, but the speed drop isnt going to hurt it against Glallade when its got Shadow Sneak. Plus with Leftovers as item of choice along with shed/rest, it will also probably be near full health against it as well. I think they look a lot close on paper than they do in practice. |

great work guys, thanks =)
in the context of cap 6 we have what we need for decentraliser assuming it wins. these stats aren't backed by a strong userbase but there are trends present. ttar+bliss+rev+stratagem seem like an obvious "big 4". hopefully this in't o/t though. Quote:
edit: hehe shoulda thought of that x) |
