Smogon Shoddy Server Statistics - February 2009
The nice thing about the month-end falling on the weekend, means I was able to get the February stats collected in record time! Do not expect such prompt service all the time -- but it is kinda nice to see this stuff as quickly as possible. Particularly now that we have the Latios test coming to a close over the next few days, and we just kicked off the new UU ladder earlier today.
I see several things that stand out from the basic usage stats, but here are my two biggest observations:
But, enough of my impressions... I'll post more later, after I've had a chance to wade through all this in more detail. I encourage the rest of you stat junkies to do the same. Happy stat hunting! ------------------------------------- These stats were gathered from 305,669 individual battles that were fought during the month of February on the Smogon Shoddy Battle Server. Usage and Leads are listed in the posts directly below this one. doug
hey doug you rock |
awesome job Doug, impressive as always =)
|
Doug, you are better than... I don't even know. Something really awesome.
Parasect is number 29, I'm so proud |
Amazing as usual Doug, nice to see them so quickly. =)
|
Ninjask is being used waaaaaay too much. I'm suprised Magnezone wasn't higher tbh, but I have been seeing it less.
Thanks Doug <3_<3 |
Doug for MVP! Latias graces the boards at no. 9. Sounds right with T-tar and scizor being so high.
Ape really has showed no signs of slowing down even with Latias inducted to OU. I guess that thing's not so uber afterall. Oh, here's a little argument I want to put forth: 1. Mamo being under e-vire in today's metagame. 2. Ambipom at 13th as a lead. therefore 3. People are idiots. |
Thanks a lot Doug :)
Ninjask high in leads always surprises me since I never seem to see one.. Not much else that I didn't expect though. |
Choice Band Scizor is literally everywhere lol, which brings to question: Why wasn't CB U-Turn Scizor used much more often before Platinum? Bullet Punch is huge, but U-Turn is really the main move of the set imo and we did have Quick Attack back then.
|
The most interesting thing I see immediately is that lucario is only number 20 on the suspect ladder.
Why is that? Plenty of latios doesn't seem something that would be all that threatening to a lucario. Interesting also that infernape remained firm at number 6, despite the introduction of latias. In January Infernape was in 16.49% of all teams; in Febuary in 17.65%. This means it is actually increasing, interestingly enough. EDIT: I was correct about Mamo usage when I made a comment in the metagame analysis thread; on suspect it was 16th. EDIT: I can read... I'm surprised no one pointed this out to me: "lucario is only number 20 on the suspect ladder" Where the heck did I get that from? |
Wow, this was so much faster than January's stats, probably because that was the first time you did the teammate stuff.
Anyway, nice job on this stuff! Edit: Omg Donphan is finally 51! Took Milotic a while... Edit #2: Wait, nvm. That's only because Latias came in. Looks like Donphan is still "50". |
As always, Doug impresses me. I think we'd have to wait until Friday or so for the statistics.
About the lists, holy shit, Scizor is used on THIRTY per cent of the teams? Thank God he didn't get the "so-much needed Rock move" the old Smogon analysis mentioned, lol. |
I'm suprised that Gyarados is so high up, I don't see him anywhere near as often as I see Blissey. And I'm really suprised Blissey isn't higher on Suspect, I think I've fought like four battles that didn't have her.
Thanks, its always great seeing these topics. |
Should be interesting to see UU leads in March, considering that 1, 2, and 4 are banned now.
|
Hah so Jirachi's (and Infernape's) lead usage finally beat out Azelf in the Suspect environment. Strange how U-Turn is only like 28.8% used on Jirachi though...
|
I think its worth pointing out that, with a few exceptions, the top 10 OUs in standard generally match the top 10 OUs in suspect. Scizor, Salamence, Gyarados, Tyranitar, Blissey, Heatran, and even Infernape are still present in the top, and obviously Metagross and Jirachi to deal with Latios, number 1.
|
lol @ the 6% of Scizor with Swarm on suspect.
also regarding the suspect statistics I was a bit surprised so many Gyarados were holding lefties. The power boost from LO can really make a difference when it comes to things like 2HKOing HP electric-less Vaporeon and OHKOing metagross/jirachi and latios after a DD. |
Well bulky Dos is making a comeback, also the Rest Sleep Talk set was used quite a bit (I know I used it)
|
woo umbreon number 49!
There are 49 pokemon in the OU tier. Umbreon for OU! My shoddy hasnt worked since the middle of january, ive been pissed off. Also, good job old UU! top spots retaken! |
This is AMAZING!
|
Quote:
U-Turn/Brick Break/Quick Attack (now Bullet Punch) is pretty cool against it |
Thanks for the statistics doug ^_^
|
I can't believe Gengar still gets so much usage with Scizor being the most used pokemon in OU.
Where's the love for the Rotoms? |
