Mega Slowbro with Regenerator seems pretty cheap on paper.

There's nothing wrong with a doubles Mega and depending on its stats it can be useful in singles.

There's a difference between using an item like the ones you mentioned which are used to help the Pokemon against a variety of opponent and Rocky Helmet which is being run only for Mega Kanga and can put you at a disadvantage against pretty much anything else that is standard.

Couldn't they just mega evolve and crunch if they are expecting the a ghost leaving you with a Dragonite close to death(assuming rocks are up) against a Pokemon that outspeeds it?

Mandibuzz is probably going to rise once more people start to see its potential.
