Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Asking if poltergeist counts as a contact move. All of the serebii entries for new moves lists them as non contact which doesn’t make sense for quite a few of the physical ones.
I dunno if it was ever answered. Someone asked if stakeout worked on special moves now and after taking like 80 percent from a max overgrowth thievul in the battle tower because I thought I could switch in safely I’m gonna say that was definitely from the Stakeout ability. For reference I was...
Endure might be an option somewhere to actually deal with max moves
I also think sunny day might be good for sun teams and negating harmful weather after max ice or max rock has been used previously
Maybe I’m misremembering the circumstances but in my playthrough I *think* I was paralyzed by a static Pikachu using a normal type contact move on me while I made no contact. Again I’m not sure but thought it might be worth testing as a possible buff to the static ability.
So I was thinking of using boots shedinja to force a Dynamax to go for a specific coverage move. Endure would be better than protect against a dyna in this situation. Like if your up against gyra it has to airstream or uhhhh darkness (crunch). Does max guard go off the same mechanic of double...
I just tested Utility umbrella ingame using a damaged Umbreon holding the item. I sent in Umbreon after setting sandstorm and used moonlight. Only 25 percent was healed and I was buffeted by sandstorm. So as per usual. I’m guessing the item only negates damage boosts from weather while...
Can someone do a full rundown of utility umbrella? Does it negate bonus damage from weather ie water in rain? Does it negate sand force? Does it allow the holder to negate damage reduction ie using water in sun? Any hidden interaction with terrains? Etc.
So assuming Persian is in the Dex because the special meowth can be bred for regular meowths, what’s the deal with Cofagrigus being listed ? Regular yamask is not in the dex so is there a split evolution being indicated stemming from galarian yamask?
I was looking through the items txt dump trying to make sense of it before I realized it pretty much includes every item that has ever existed in the franchise. Soooo what I’m searching for in vain is the existence of an item that CLEARS EVs. I didn’t play sun/moon so I don’t know if there...
Wouldn't the simplest ban be against iron defense? It sounds silly, but we've banned specific moves all the time before and i does the job of necessitating a pass to Vaporeon before defense boosts occur. I doubt any other team archtype would miss it.
My point is the scolipede usually isnt doing offensive things. You could make this exact same type of team last gen substituting in Ninjask while still using a vaporeon for physical bulk. Hell, galewings didnt exist either.
One more thought, since the distinguishing characteristic between ninjask and scolipede in a baton pass chain is iron defense- is the culprit here that one move or the fact that weather was too overwhelming last gen for thenear exact same type of team to work?
OMG BAN IRON DEFENSE
Soooo you're admitting its usually in the best intetest to lead with smearg/scolipede? Because I notice that too with these teams, and there are ways to capitalise on that tendency. Its 1am so I may elaborate more tomorrow.
Plenty of us have been dicking around with the meta since netbattle, skarmbliss and curselax were a thing. Hell, I witnessed the new hotness that was a uu tier be born back on the og irc simulator. What has continually been annoying all that time is this idea you have the privelege of not...
In the context of baton pass what makes scolipede act any differently from ninjask other than iron defense? What is so different now that baton pass has become too good?
The sentiment I'm getting here is that with one addition (speed boost scolipede) baton pass is suddenly a force to be reckoned with for the first time ever? Because that's really the only differential from last gen where no one gave a shit about the playstyle. I've seen too much crying about...
Just conjecturing, noivern isn't a bad mon in OU, and infiltrator is a good ability that can be clutch at getting behind subs before the special defense boosts occur.
