    Liepard

Liepard is a cool pokémon, but I don't think that justifies putting it in a team when other, better pokémons can have that spot. If you must use Liepard, I would recommend using it as a Scout, with U-Turn, Thunder Wave, Substitute and Foul Play.

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Always nice to hear second opinions. Let's leave it at that, and move on to discuss something else (still nothing new to discuss here).

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Please add something new to the discussion if you want to continue it :) 1 on 1 Steelix vs Heatran leaves Steelix the victor, unless Heatran carries Air Balloon. Entry Hazards are not a factor in turn 1.

    Arcanine and Milotic Calming Sweep

I'd say the weak points for Arcanine is both his speed and his typing, making him vulnerable to entry hazards, and too slow to deal with most threats. He needs support if he is to get anything done. Let's keep the rest of the discussion at another place, this is not the thread for it :)

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

I think you are right on most points, but as I already mentioned, he can function against a handful of pokemons in the tier, such as Heatran and Jolteon. My team had problems with Jolteon for example, a problem that Steelix fixed. Also, his strength is not in 1 on 1's, but rather in SR/Roar...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

I really don't think we are getting anywhere now :) I appreciate the debate, but I have said everything I wanted to say. Every pokemon has a list of threats that can defeat them.

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

I know the weaknesses of Steelix well enough to know that some moves do significant damage to him, but that can be said for any pokemon. I can't see how that is an argument. Also, there is absolutely no reason to keep Steelix out in the open against pokemons that threat him, which is why he...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Alright, so we are not stopping the discussion? All I'm saying is that on my team, Steelix does the job quite good, with a little prediction and the right support. You guys make it sound like Steelix has to be able to kill and counter a bunch of poke's, but that's not what I use it for at...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

I didn't mention it because it looks cool, but because I think it has some viability. Have a look at Steelix's defense stat and tell me if it resist it ;) I have used it, and found it to be a great supporter. I think all the advantages/weaknesses have been mentioned now, so there is no reason...

Hippowdon doesn't resist Icicle Spear from Cloyster, nor does it resist the rest of the multiturn moves, just to clear that.

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Steelix isn't meant to kill opponents 1 on 1, he's better off using Roar to increase the damage from SR. He can almost always survive 1 hit with Sturdy, and resist many of the multiturn moves that tends to be a problem for Sturdy users. Like most pokemons, the effectiveness of Steelix depends...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Trinitrotoluene - Skarmory may be immune to ground attacks, but Steelix trade that for an immunity to Electric, including the popular Volt Switch and Thunder Wave. My examples of Gengar and Aerodactyl was to mention a few leads that it can beat. Steelix are meant to be used as one of the...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Alright, here's a few strong points for Steelix compared to Skarmory. I'm not saying that either one is better, but I think they have different advantages. * Steelix is bulkier than Skarmory. His defenses and HP are much better than Skarmory. * He is immune to Electric, but vulnerable to...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Steelix is not meant to stick around when the special sweepers enter. He can be a lead and do the job pretty good. He has nice synergy with other pokemons in OU (such as Jellicent), making it easy to get him out if a predicted special attack is heading his way. Also, he is very easy to get back...

Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Seeing some of the pokemons mentioned here, I'd vote for a mention of Steelix. He more or less guarantees SR, and has the ability to use Roar/Dragon Tail along with it, causing havoc for unprepared teams. With Sturdy, he is impossible to kill with 1 hit, and is immune to Toxic Spikes while...

    Metagross Lead

First thing I think about is that in my experience, Metagross was weak against a lot of leads. He can be 1hko'ed by strong fire and ground attacks, but is otherwise alright I suppose. Don't bother with Charge Beam on Jolteon, he won't survive any attacks. I would put a Choice Spec on him...

    Simple Sweep

I agree with Lasers - Salamence would be nice as a revenge killer - you definately need one in the fast paced OU metagame. Not sure about the attacks on Sally. You need more powerful attacks, like Earthquake, if you make him your revenge killer. You rely a lot upon boosting moves instead of...

Big, Bulky and Beautiful (First timer)

Alright, made some adjustments, and things have improved. Weather teams are still my weakness. Tried out Giga Drain but Shadow Ball had more uses. I replaced Volcarona with Arcanine, and have been really pleased with him. He's still weak to entry hazards, but he manages to get a few punches in...
