    XY NU Theorymon Discussion

Accelgor is gonna be a great revenge killer in NU this gen. His main STAB move, Bug Buzz, goes through subs now; he's the second fastest Pokemon in the tier behind Ninjask, and he has a solid 100 base SpA stat by NU standards, with good coverage options in Giga Drain/Energy Ball, Focus Blast...

Mergemons XY - Diancie, Hoopa, and Volcanion are Legal

Carbink looks like he'd be a fun little supporter or annoyer in this metagame, thanks to getting a reliable recovery move in Synthesis. For notable moves, he gets Roar, Stockpile, and Will-o-Wisp from Camerupt, and Leech Seed, Infestation, and Synthesis from Carnivine.

    Pokémon Diancie

Exactly. Same goes for Diggersby. Like you say, though, Diancie will probably shine the most in Sandstorm teams. Her secondary fairy typing really is a great boon in that it lets her shrug off the common Bug and Fighting attacks that Tyranitar hates taking.

    Pokémon Diancie

I think you guys are prejudging Diancie way too much. We don't even know what event moves she will be getting for her American or European distribution yet (i'd lol so hard if Diancie was Japanese only, wouldn't put it past GF at all to do something like that to us). Additionally, Diancie will...

    XY NU Theorymon Discussion

Weezing isn't as crippled by Knock Off as Roselia is, and has better physical bulk plus an immunity to Ground moves over Garbodor. I do agree about Weezing's 4MSS, though. 5th Gen Weezing was already strapped for move slots as-is.

For the last move, probably Encore or Roost. Emolga's main purpose is to be annoying with U-Turn/Volt Switch shenanigans and support his team mates. I think Emolga would be better off Baton Passing Agility boosts than Tailwind, though. Still, having a fast, untauntable Thunder Wave is really...

    XY UU Viability Ranking Thread

I've never done this before, so hopefully I'm doing this right, but I'd like to nominate Lickilicky for B-/C+ rank. He's the third biggest Wish passer in the tier behind Alomomola and Wigglytuff, but unlike the two aforementioned Pokes, Lickilicky operates as a bulky mixed wall. However, the...

    Pokémon Diancie

I agree. Going by the calcs above, the cute rock checks quite a few of UU's top tier Pokemon, and most of those calcs don't show Diancie with any defense investment for the stat the respective attack is targeting. However, she will have trouble switching into Darmanitan and Chandelure if they're...

    XY UU Viability Ranking Thread

Reuniclus is a real pain to take down because the majority of its counters/checks are locked away in OU for now. This gen's UU environment is quite kind to him. I think Jirachi's the only commonly used Pokemon who can deal with it 100% of the time, though Mega Houndoom can beat him so long as he...

    XY NU Theorymon Discussion

For the most part, Ariados is outclassed as a Sticky Web setter by Leavanny, but Ariados does have a useful poison-typing and is the only NU Sticky Web user to get Toxic Spikes. Depends on what your team wants/needs.

Dusclops relies on Night Shade to deal damage, and he's seen in UU semi frequently. Cue in the laughter over people using Dusclops in UU.

Ah, forgot about our fighting chipmunk friend! Looks like I won't get a chance to try that out, though, with Crawdaunt out of the tier and all.

Omastar is also a hard check to Entei. It would take Entei 5 or 6 uses of Sacred Fire or Extremespeed to kill Omastar, while Omastar can 1HKO back with Surf. Only Stone Miss has a chance to 2HKO, provided it doesn't miss either time and Entei isn't choicelocked into any of his other moves...

    UU Simple Questions Thread

From my experience with this gen's UU so far, Poliwrath is still a great hard check to Crawdaunt. He's immune to Crawdaunt's water STAB, resists his dark STAB, and can phaze him out with Circle Throw. Intimidate Qwilfish cripples Crawdaunt pretty well, too, whittling him down with Thunder Wave...

    XY UU Viability Ranking Thread

I'm very, very new to UU, but from my limited experience in the tier Cofagrigus and Mismagius are not comparable despite the same typing. Mismagius is built for late-game cleaning, while Cofagrigus is usually used as a set-up sweeper. Mismagius is also significantly faster than Coffin and...

    XY NU Theorymon Discussion

What really bums me out about Togetic is her reliance on eviolite. Musharna doesn't need to rely on her item to fulfill her role, while Togetic does. And Knock Off seems to be everywhere this gen. (Togetic is still cuter, though) Sadly, Togetic only has a 2x resist to grass, but the...

    XY NU Theorymon Discussion

That's definitely true. Has there been any indication yet as to whether NU will be a Defog-heavy metagame? Purugly's viability pretty much hinges on the presence of that one move.

    XY NU Theorymon Discussion

Good set idea! I think Purugly greatly benefits from the ability to switch moves. There's nothing stopping the opponent from switching their defogger out to a steel or ghost type after an anticipated Return, so Life Orb is probably the best item for him (though the extra power boost from Choice...

    XY NU Theorymon Discussion

This is a really interesting set idea. I never thought to use Pawniard in NU. I'll have to experiment with him once the XY NU tier is finalized. Speaking of fellow Defiant users, how about Purugly? What sets Purugly apart from Pawniard and Primeape is its amazing speed stat by NU standards, as...
