One of the scariest team comps I saw was curse toxic orb flareon + focus sash trick room espeon. I saw it twice, and both times Flareon completely swept me. I also got swept by resttalk curse return Sylveon one since I was running toxic stall.

Just want to quickly confirm before I lock my battle box - Pokemon below level 30 will be raised to 30 temporarily, right?

Can I hazard a guess? One of my friends is using Choice Specs Pixilate Hyper Beam Sylveon. OHKOs everything that isn't Flareon, defensive Sylveon, or specially defensive Vaporeon. Also hits hard with Moonblast if you don't like the charge turn.

Hm okay, I'll keep that in mind thanks. By the way, would anyone be available for some practice battles right now? My friend code is 3411-2321-4441. =)

This thing starts in 10 hours, right? Say I delay registering my battle box until Saturday, do I lose out on anything? I currently have one Pokemon left to raise, and am considering rebreeding Espeon for HP Bug over Dazzling Gleam. When you factor in the lengthy process of shiny hatching (for...

So it seems that despite having the second reply to the voter ID thread, the Shuckle suspect has come and gone without me. Not that my vote would've made a difference to anything, but this does really send a strong symbolic message that I am not wanted here. Not that this is anything new - I...

Thanks for clarifying. Guess I'm spending a bunch on time in /r/SVExchange over the next few days XD

Just a quick question, since my friends and I have found the wording of the eligibility section a bit unclear: Are all Kalos-born Eevees allowed, or only ones for which you are the OT?

If Shuckle has been weakened, it probably means you already have webs up, allowing you greater options at checking and revenge killing Exploud anyway. I, however, have been running a stall Shuckle w/o webs. It's my best check to specs wallbreakers (I'm running specially defensive), as well as...

As much as removing Shuckle's Web support makes Exploud a much lesser threat (since you can actually revenge kill it), the ban also removes the best Exploud check in the tier. Like Registeel, Shuckle really doesn't care about Boomburst, however it has two other perks. Thanks to surf being weaker...

Funnily enough, I do actually believe that Shuckle is the optimal choice for my team. Its main job is to be a general nuisance. It knocks off items, applies toxic, and provides Stealth Rock support, all while tanking hits very well with a typing which complements my team decently. While each...

If I google "viable," the first dictionary definition I get is "capable of working successfully; feasible." If a team wins games on the ladder, then it is viable for use on the ladder, by definition. If you feel the ladder is of a low quality (what exactly do you have to compare to, by the...

If it wins a substantial number of battles, it's viable by definition. I'm guessing that team was viable due to countering the meta of the day.

As I outlined in my first post on this thread (quoted above), there is an important distinction to be made between Shuckle and Froslass. Froslass had one standard set with no variation other than to counter other Froslass (I did hear about a mental herb shadow ball Froslass once, lol). Taking...

Metagame NP: RU Stage 2.5: Kids (READ POST #265)

Throughout this thread, I have seen no arguments that support an outright and complete ban of Shuckle. It seems to be the consensus of the community that Shuckle makes Sticky Web offense broken and should be banned for that reason, but every argument for banning Shuckle in this thread would be...

You guys could try Archeops, particularly as a lead. It OHKOes non-sturdy Shuckle with Stone Edge (assuming 252/0 Shuckle, which seems to be the norm as people are talking about the increasing speed investment). Even if the opposing shuckle is sturdy, you will easily 2HKO barring the curse of...

    The Baton Pass Effect

As almost everyone already knows, Baton Pass has been a contentious issue in the OU metagame for a long time, leading to its eventual ban last week. During May, Baton Pass finally caught on, and its popularity vastly altered the May usage statistics, causing several previously common OU threats...

I also want to make a quick point about the 3:1 win ratio requirement - you may be blocking off some of the highest level players. As you play more games, it becomes harder to maintain such a high win ratio, since the matchmaking system puts you up against stronger opponents. As an example, when...
