  1. Platinum/HG/SS Battle Frontier and DP Battle Tower Records

Why the leaderboards for the Platinum WiFi tower and the D/P WiFi tower kept separate? Aren't they exactly the same?
  2. CAP 6 CAP 6 - Concept Submissions

Trick Room and Gyro Ball punish high speed already, both in different ways.
  3. Lati@s Discussion Thread

Speaking of Magnezone, has it been brought up yet that Magnezone does a great job at cleaning up a lot of things hoping to take a Latios' Draco Meteor? Between the two of them, every type in the game is resisted, too. Obviously, the combination has its fair share of flaws, but I'm sure it could...
  4. CAP 6 CAP 6 - Concept Submissions

Name: A Wall Unlike Any Other Description: Wall-breaking has become extremely easy now, but this unique wall has more to it than just good defensive stats, whether this is through strange typing, ability, or anything else to hinder the conventional methods of wall-breaking. Okay, that's about...
  5. Double Battle Metagame.

Isn't Skill Swapping Pure Power onto yourself no more useful than using Swords Dance?
  6. Behold the game's best mixed sweeper. It's not who you think it is!

Magmortar is walled by things too; if it chooses HP Grass it's walled by Swampert and if it doesn't, by Dragonite. And though it would indeed be difficult to counter due to your never knowing which of the two moves it's running, LOCham can be just as unpredictable with its movepool. also you're...
  7. Behold the game's best mixed sweeper. It's not who you think it is!

I dunno. I really like the set, but off the top of my head, I thought of a couple of other things that could really handle the role pretty well without needing to split EVs. Skymin @ Life Orb Modest Nature 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 4 Special Defense - Seed Flare - Earth Power - Air Slash -...
  8. Ho-oh – Is it truly an Uber?

blasphemy1, do you really think people would use the Choice Band set? So many things are immune to Earthquake, and there are many Flash Fire pokémon around to absorb Sacred Fire. Getting a Ho-oh in unscathed is enough of an issue in the first place, so to have its efforts rendered completely...
  9. Ho-oh – Is it truly an Uber?

Only Tyranitar? This is the 6th most commonly move in the metagame we're talking about here. In OU alone, I've seen Stone Edges coming off Aerodactyl, Breloom (admittedly never going to try its luck), Dugtrio, Gyarados, Heracross, Lucario, Machamp (also not so good without Scarf), Mamoswine and...
  10. Ho-oh – Is it truly an Uber?

How is it significant that Heatran is beaten by ScarfTrio? Ho-oh shouldn't be compared to Heatran, and it could never take its place (aside from maybe the role of "something to switch into Fire Blasts"). Heatran switches in on a load of threats thanks to all its resistances and neutrality to SR...
  11. Ho-oh – Is it truly an Uber?

And where is your evidence for Ho-oh doing that to the metagame? Have you tested it before? Also, Scizor can OHKO Ho-oh with Quick Attack after SR, and Salamence can outspeed it and OHKO with Stone Edge. As for Skymin, Ho-oh isn't a safe switch for that either, as after a special defence drop...
  12. Ludicolo (SD) +

I think Rain Dance should be an option over Ice Punch. It's still rather bulky so it's a good candidate to set that up; have tested it myself. I used it with a Damp Rock but it appears to be clogged up enough with item choices as it is. It loses coverage on Grass types, but on Rain teams there...
  13. Pinsir v. Heracross: Has anything changed?

Along with the arguably better resistances Fighting typing gives Hera.
  14. Ho-oh – Is it truly an Uber?

Not really. the metagame gets dominated by a pokémon for a while (I expect the first couple of weeks of testing everybody would use it), but with counters at every turn Ho-oh will have trouble performing well for a while, so naturally its usage drops and the counters' probably does too. Then...
  15. Ho-oh – Is it truly an Uber?

This logic could easily apply to anything with Will-o-wisp, too. I think this has been brought up far too many times. Most times I've thought of a counter I've always had to take SF's huge burn rate into consideration, but if all the Ho-oh users would be depending on spamming Sacred Fire all day...
  16. Ho-oh – Is it truly an Uber?

If it has HP Grass different things can wall it. If HP Grass became standard, people would use different things to beat it. I can't really think of any unholy wall-smashing Ho-oh set that isn't inferior to Salamence in all but special defensive abilities and the ability to sometimes burn...
  17. Did Platinum improve this game?

Actually it doesn't counter Scizor and Skymin as well as you'd think... Not to burst your bubble or anything. If you can keep Stealth Rock off the field it at least works against Scizor. :P but I'm not one to disagree about it, of course!
  18. Pinsir v. Heracross: Has anything changed?

I don't think Pinsir has anything on Heracross, really. I've tried to use it, but every time Heracross has taken the position on the team before long. Sure, it beats Rotom, but unless Rotom was a huge problem for your team it wouldn't be necessary to put Pinsir in for just that one pokémon. As...
  19. Ho-oh – Is it truly an Uber?

What's new? Anyway, I don't like how you make such a blanket statement, especially not when it isn't backed up and is just some idea you threw into the thread. On the contrary, I'm of the believe it may take the metagame in a different direction for a while; suddenly things like Infernape...
  20. Ho-oh – Is it truly an Uber?

That one in eight chance of your counter being OHKOd after Stealth Rock is nothing to ignore, though. Especially not when if Ho-oh was used a lot as a counter people would just start running Quick Attack anyway and be done with it. Also I am fairly sure that Sandstorm damage occurs before...
