    My speed control, not yours.

In case anyone was wondering how well this team can do: I managed to get #5 on the VGC2017 ladder before I started taking multiple losses. Still looking for ways to improve. I'll give it another couple of days before i reset and start on a new team.

    My speed control, not yours.

Hey all. A while back I put together my first in-game competitive VGC team. And it did ok, but I hit a pretty solid wall around 1650 that I just couldn't break through. After spending a ton of time on Showdown tinkering with other ideas, I finally came back to this team with some new insight and...

Online Competition Battle of Alola [POST YOUR RESULTS!]

Came in at 11th in US... I was at 1762 right before my last match... That High Horsepower miss was the deciding factor between being ranked 3rd and 11th... geez it was tightly packed there. Edit: Oh, and the big win I mentioned was vs #8 in the world. woop! side note: where do we get our BP...

Online Competition Battle of Alola [POST YOUR RESULTS!]

Actually same here. I have been using sims like shoddybattle and showdown off-and-on for years. But this is my first gen actually doing breeding/EV training in the actual game. It's weirdly theraputic and less stressful than shotgunning battles over and over on showdown. Less burn-out too. I'm...

Online Competition Battle of Alola [POST YOUR RESULTS!]

Battle for Alola report! Just finished my battles. I did okay. 33-12 Final with a point ranking of 1750-something (im not sure where to check since i cant go for more battles). My highest ranking was 1796. My best win was vs an 1870. I used Pyukumuku and Shiinotic which threw some people off...

    Pokémon Tapu Koko

I chose hasty for consistency. As a sweeper I'm not spending time thinking about what kind of hits I want to stay in and tank. While Naive is technically a lower BST drop, it means the hits i do take on the special side hurt a lot more than the physical ones. Ultimately, it doesn't matter THAT...

    Pokémon Tapu Koko

Ok, refined the Tapunium Koko set. "Tapunium Koko" Tapu Koko @ Tapunium Z Ability: Electric Surge EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe Hasty Nature - Wild Charge - Brave Bird - Hidden Power [Ice] - Nature's Madness Tapu Koko is probably the only really good Nature's Madness user. While it may seem...

First team back in competitive play

So I am a long-time veteran to Pokemon and the online variants. But it has been a year or so since I played competitively and I don't own a 3DS so I haven't played XY... so that means I'm coming in really fresh. I've been tinkering and learning for a couple days and I've got a fairly decent team...

    Project Mono-Type: Psychic

***updated second post*** sorry for the delay, was away for the holiday. Thank you for being so active over the last week and keeping this thread thriving. The discussion here is really great, and I'm really starting to see some people thinking outside the box which is exactly what Project...

    Uxie (Defensive Momentum Grabber)

If your team can't handle Breloom, something is wrong besides Uxie. Though, I will admit you need to take special care of Subbers. A phazer is recommended. This is not a standalone pokemon, it is for momentum and annoying only, without the proper team with it, it can't do much on its own.

    Project Mono-Type: Psychic

I can see the possibility of a trick room team working, but it also a high-maintenance team type, which is pretty difficult for a mono-team to pull off. TTar and other pursuiters will love coming in on expected Trick Rooms. Not saying that it's not doable, just it will have to be able to ensure...

    Project Mono-Type: Psychic

Our next type for discussion is Psychic! Psychic has had a tough ride since the introduction of Dark and Steel in Gen2, but Gen 5 has blessed the psychic type with many more options and skills that enable it to have a sturdy foothold in the metagame. Phase 1: General Type Discussion Benefits...

    Project Mono-Type: Psychic

The biggest challenge in entering into the vastly deep metagame of competitive pokemon is the idea of team creation. Who's the best? Does the team mesh? Are there any glaring weaknesses to a team? How do you overcome the current top competitors? No matter if you are new to the...
