If you know for certain that your opponent is bringing a team of Snorlax, Zapdos, Cloyster, Exeggutor, Gengar and Golem, but you don't know their movesets, how do you punish them? Bring Jynx? Really a GSC question but also RBY, for the hell of it.

Pokémon should have ended with Gen 2. The first generation was the original, the second was a true sequel, anything after that was just downhill.

There has not been a single "Past Gens" article since August, and not a single real old gens article (regarding RBY and GSC) since April. Is it because everything has been said and done, or more likely, because most writers don't care enough about these gens to write something?

It does not matter, Item Clause would not have won anyway. NeverUsed is the fashionable choice these days. Speaking of which, NeverUsed gets my vote.

I have never played a game of DPP, but I have read enough threads and articles to realize that Tyranitar is an integral part of the game, used for several different things. If banning Tyranitar is not the way to go, would banning the use of Tyranitar and Breloom on the same team be an idea, or...

To say Raikou trumps Zapdos as the Electric-type of choice in GSC is a misunderstanding at best.

Rhydon was always good, Gen 4 ruined it in several ways. Rhyferior was a mistake.

With Haunter banned, to which degree can Gastly fill the same role? It has the same useful typing and movepool, just lower stats. Does the Normal immunity and decent Special attacking power give it a niche, or is it simply too frail?

I looked at the earlier versions of this thread and it seems like the 19 S- and A-rank Pokémon listed here have been the standout for quite some time. In the first thread, after Snorlax and the Electrics, the 16 A-ranks are listed alphabetically without subranks, so there's no clear ranking...

Are there any emulators for RBY and/or GSC with trade functionality? If not, I will need three cartridges, two consoles and a proper link cable, but they are not to be found.

I assume Nidoqueen is some kind of mini-Nidoking here, whereas Qwilfish and Granbull are so high thanks to their access to Spikes and Heal Bell, respectively. What makes Slowbro, Dodrio and Scyther so good? Enlighten me.

Dragonite and Tyranitar are not banned on purpose, they just happen to evolve at level 55, which excludes them from any format played at level 50. Banning Snorlax would remove this even further from the GSC we know and love, but it seems like that's what you're going for in the first place.

I'm not sure if by GSC battle spot, you mean Crystal Battle Tower, but the idea sounds quite similar. Assuming level 50 for the Battle Tower format, there's not only an item clause, but also an in-built "banlist" on the cartridge (Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-oh and Celebi can only be used at lv. 70...

That's cool. I still think his arguments are good and valid, and item clause is a terrible idea.

I agree with everything Lavos says, and I don't even like him. Then again, I suppose it's up to personal preference. Would you rather play chess or toss dice?
