    Pokémon Houndoom

How about Venusaur? Chlorophyll Venusaur can still wreck things under the sun, and it can take any Water or Fighting type moves Houndoom may fear. Furthermore, it can put a potential counter to sleep. In return, Houndoom can handle all Fire, Ice, and Psychic type moves that make Venu shudder...

np: NU Stage 3 - Riders on the Storm

Wait, Serperior doesn't get Synthesis or Aromatherapy. Meganium and Vileplume do, and neither of them get Taunt or Glare.

np: NU Stage 1 - Welcome to Heartbreak

How does Meganium fare in this tier? I figure it can work well as a support Pokemon. It's slower than Serperior, but it's bulkier and it also gets screens. It has Aromatherapy for status (particularly to counter TSpikes) and reliable recovery in Synthesis. I figure with guys like Magmortar and...

    Sun Discussion Thread

Meganium can also summon the sun with a Heat Rock, Synthesis and Screen support increasing her already nice bulk. Is Leaf Guard released yet? That would make her completely invulnerable to status, which is kinda nice. She's not used very often, less so as a whether inducer, so there's the...

    Sun Discussion Thread

What about Meganium as a support option? Sun teams hate status and Meganium has Aromatherapy to get rid of it. She also gets a buffed up Synthesis in the sun (which aids her longetivity,) has pretty good bulk and, to a lesser degree, has access to Reflect/Light Screen. Though maybe Serperior...

    Venusaur

Not to mention that you have the Sp. Defense drop with Energy Ball which, while not consistent, is always nice when it happens.
  7. Envoy.of.Water

    Venusaur

What about non-Chlorophyll Venusaur? What can they do to stand out in this metagame? Access to Power Whip is nice, for sure, but do the old Gen IV sets still apply to Gen V? Or will Overgrow Venusaur have to think more creatively in order to stand out?
  8. Envoy.of.Water

    Venusaur

So what tier are we predicting for Venusaur this gen? UU? BL? OU?
  9. Envoy.of.Water

    Dragonite

How does Dragonite compare to all the other pseudos this gen?
  10. Envoy.of.Water

    Houndoom

So what tier are we predicting Houndoom will fall in this gen? UU again?
  11. Envoy.of.Water

    Swampert

So what tier are we predicting Swampert will fall in this generation? OU again?
  12. Envoy.of.Water

    Venusaur

Still holding out for a later event that gives away female only Starters.
  13. Envoy.of.Water

    Venusaur

So these are some impressions I've gotten from Gen V Venusaur: 1. It seems like it suffers from four-slot syndrome. If it could wield [insert Grass move of choice]/Sludge Bomb/HP Fire/Growth/Sleep Powder/[insert healing move of choice], it would be much more powerful. 2. Is it just me, or is...
  14. Envoy.of.Water

    Serperior

Crappy stat distribution, awful movepool and bad typing? Honestly, Jaroda only has one base stat above the 100 mark, and that's it's speed. Everything else is quite subpar. It's overall defenses (what he's built for) are weaker than Meganium's by five points each. It's offenses are laugable...
  15. Envoy.of.Water

    Venusaur

You could run all three in a set that included Sludge Bomb, HP Fire, [insert Grass move here] and Growth. This would of course mean that you'd have to forego EQ/Sleep Powder/Synthesis though. It really depends on what you need him to cover for your team.
  16. Envoy.of.Water

    Venusaur

Grass and Poison cover every type in the game at least neutrally with the exceptions of Steel and Poison. This means that with EQ, you have theoretically perfect neutral coverage. Of course, then there's practice which is a completely different thing. Levitating Poison or Steel types like...
  17. Envoy.of.Water

    Venusaur

I just realized all the buffs Venusaur gets under the sun. Double Synthesis recovery, Growth's boost doubles it's attack and Sp. attack (an SD and a NP boost in one go) and it's speed is also doubled with Chlorophyll. Damn, this thing is a beast under direct sunlight. Not quite as effective...
  18. Envoy.of.Water

    Serperior

Venusaur and Roserade have STAB Sludge Bomb, as do Vileplume, Victreebel and Morobareru, Meganium ties with it, Ludicolo can use Ice Beam, Breloom has Spore and strong Focus Punches (not to mention Poison Heal and Substitues of his own), Tropius has STAB Flying type moves, Leafeon will KO it...
  19. Envoy.of.Water

    Charizard

Except with SR up, many players could opt for just taking Charizard out (since it just lost half it's HP switching in) instead of switching
  20. Envoy.of.Water

    Venusaur

And it can use Sludge Bomb to take out the Grass types that plague rain teams while also resisting their STAB.
