  1. (WIP) Let's Go In-Game Tierlist

An ingame tier list does not assume a speedrun, but it does assume an efficient playthrough. Spending an hour to catch one Pokemon with negligible advantages (if any) over Pokemon who do not require any time investment (starter Eevee, Kaputops, etc) is the antithesis of efficiency. From the...
  2. (WIP) Let's Go In-Game Tierlist

The entire game can be beaten in just over 3 hours. Spending an hour to get one Pokemon is a time sink, not a timer saver.
  3. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

Zygarde should generally OHKO with an X-Attack boosted Rock Slide/Continential Crush, but Rock Slide isn't available until after beating Guzma 2, meaning you'll only be able to take advantage of that strategy the third time. ZyDog is also at OHKO risk from First Impression if it doesn't have a...
  4. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

Every Guzma fight in a nutshell. Because the tier list assumes set battles, you need to be a good lead to do well in battles or else you're taking hits whenever you switch. Dugtrio is not a good lead, and doesn't like taking hits. Plumeria's Salazzle also outspeeds it (Hasty nature, 31 speed IV...
  5. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

Because the game has been datamined, we have enemy stats here: http://pastebin.com/vkaZNTra I wanted to use these to get a snapshot of Pokemon offense, so I used a damage calculator to plug in a pretty neutral enemy Pokemon (Gladion's Type Null at Level 38 which has 0 EVs, 95 base stats in...
  6. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

The hypothesis of my argument is that Popplio, with x-items, performs better than any other Pokemon, also with x-items. You still need a strong base Pokemon to take advantage of x-items. I will point you to the failed routing of Litten and Huge Power Marill speedruns, who were deemed to not...
  7. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

X-items give +2 to stats in this game, are cheap and have priority. It is inefficient not to use them. See above post. Popplio often had only a 2-3 level lead over its opposition, and ended up approximately even leveled by mid-lategame. Factually wrong. See the speedrun for Yellow...
  8. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

Are you going to show me video evidence of another Pokemon beating the game in an efficient run then? The video I posted was of somebody beating the game in under six hours. I've argued with people on here in the past, and while a speedrun may be taking the idea of efficiency to an extreme, the...
  9. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

Popplio is by far the best starter. I've been bugging ColonelM to move him to top. He is the only starter who has demonstrated the ability to completely solo the game, including the Lurantis and Vikavolt fights: https://www.twitch.tv/eekcast/v/107262403 You can nickpick about Popplio's level...
  10. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

Recovery moves are barely a positive for any Pokemon given that items have priority healing and heal above 50%.... Using U-turn on 70 base attack without STAB as a main selling point is also puzzling. It has about the same "usefulness" as Fake Out (ie. not much)
  11. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

I haven't verified myself, but serebii seems to imply that the egg moves are set: http://www.serebii.net/sunmoon/qrscanner.shtml
  12. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

Scald is an 80 BP STAB with a great secondary effect that Wingull has access to incredibly early via TM (I am assuming Lvl 17). Here is when each non-Legendary Pokemon in A tier gets access to an >80 BP STAB (for TMs, I have assumed Pokemon are the same level as the highest leveled trainer...
  13. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

It's stuck with 60 BP STABs until Lvl 38 without the bulk to keep it going until its offense catches up. I can't see that being A-tier material at all.
  14. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

It gets access to Grass Pledge in Hau'oli City, around when it's Level 17 or so. An 80 BP STAB. Its main selling point ingame is STAB Scald w/rain boost.
  15. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

It becomes competent far too late in the game. Really only once it gets Leaf Blade...level 44
  16. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

It's still early, but I can't see Rowlet being anything but the worst of the three starters. Grass is a terrible ingame type. It's resisted by 7 types and weak to 5. Two of those types in both categories being poison and flying, both common as hell.
  17. How do I use it?

    How do I use it?
  18. Sun / Moon In-Game Tier List

I haven't played yet, but I'm pretty sure Pikipek is top tier due to high attack, good STABs throughout the game (Beak Blast!), and passable speed/bulk. Plus you get it early. I know some people here hate when I bring up speedruns, but I know some players are speculating it could be used in a...
  19. ORAS In-game Tier List - Read Post #324

It would be nice if Celever showed some initiative by laying out clear guidelines for the tier list, rather than passive aggressively "liking" posts that disagree with me. The most prominent Pokemon speedrunner out there right now (Werster) beat the game with a 4:48 on his first playthrough...
  20. ORAS In-game Tier List - Read Post #324

Even still, if (all hypothetically) Tentacruel is in B tier, and requires a 30 minute diversion to sufficiently compete with the other Pokemon in B tier, then it really should be reflected by a tier gap. The other Pokemon in B tier would be able to accomplish what Tentacruel does without...
