I've been trying him out banded. He has just enough of a movepool and U-turn to make use of it, plus great speed and decent attack. Can't decide what I like more, Limber to switch into all the thunder waves, or Mold Breaker to deal with sturdies. Generally going with a moveset of HJK, U-Turn...

Kinda sucks malamar has no chance in OU. I'm hoping he'll be relevant in UU or RU, I think he has potential to be really scary there.

His low speed and lack of resistances really let him down. I swear by assault vest on him though, it works perfectly in conjunction with superpower. He's also worth using to me solely to laugh at Smogonsword.

Is there anything that can outspeed Mega Kangaroo and will-o-wisp, while switching into return or earthquake?

I've been using Crobat mostly with Taunt/Roost/Defog/Brave Bird. And holding a lum berry. Lum berry is to stop t-wave that makes him nearly useless, and to let him be a stop to the treacherous Boobookeys. Brave bird lets him stop sub users, especially trevenant and perish gengar. Taunt stops...

I carry a scarfed Stone Edge user just for charizard Y.

The biggest problem is that Acrobatics is by far its best flying stab, but it's difficult to use without a gem, or at least less effective and unreliable. Unburden would have perfect synergy with it, making him a raging death machine after a single swords dance. He sadly doesn't get EQ to use...

I've had some decent results with passing speed to it and having it hold an Assault Vest. still dies like a bitch to bug, and has no recovery, and doesn't hit quite hard enough. Poor guy is gonna be RU at best.

That's still a ridiculous disadvantage. and he just doesn't have anything to use Unburden with otherwise.

Is it even possible to use Hawlucha effectively until Flying Gem comes out? Gamefreak for some reason only wanted to give him acrobatics as a useable flying move.
