  1. SS OU The Widening Gyre

Hmm, interesting. If I can't have Teleport on Blissey, I probably could use the fourth spot for Stealth Rock or Aromatherapy; putting SR on Blissey would let me free up a slot on Swampert, though I'm not sure what I would use it for. EDIT: A threat that's come up a few times now is Hawlucha; I...
  2. SS OU The Widening Gyre

Thanks for the review! Scarf vs. Specs on Dragapult - I was worried about sweepers like Dragonite or Volcarona after they get 1 Dragon/Quiver Dance off, but getting the OHKO on Spectrier is probably more important, yeah. Cinderace instead of Volcarona - interesting thought, I've definitely been...
  3. SS OU The Widening Gyre

Named because two-thirds of the team has U-turn or Flip Turn. I recently got back into battling after a long hiatus; I last played in Gen 5. This team reflects my thinking from that era, with a heavy emphasis on hazards and maintaining momentum with U-turn/Flip Turn. Swampert @ Leftovers...
  4. Smogon Simple Questions & Suggestions Thread

Is there a way to read previous versions (pre-Crown Tundra) of SwSh analyses? I'm just getting back into the game, I was last around in gen 5, and I'm trying to get an overview of the meta/common strategies.
  5. The Dark Horse Project

Can we use either the Suspect ladder or current OU for getting in the Hall of Fame? Pocket EDIT: current OU :0
  6. Gen V Balanced Hackmons

Freeze Shock wasn't taking a turn to charge when Assist selected it.
  7. BW2 General Metagame Discussion Thread

Roserade still can't run Spikes+Sleep Powder by my reckoning...they're still incompatible egg moves.
  8. Creative (and good) Movesets Mk II (READ THE OP FIRST)

Taunt and Superpower are the primary slashes on LO Tornadus-T already...it's not like using them here is new. Your math's off. If rocks are up, Genesect OHKO's Tornadus-T with Ice Beam/Thunderbolt even without a boost; obviously, at +1 SpA Genesect murders Tornadus-T. As for the other way...
  9. Creative (and good) Movesets Mk II (READ THE OP FIRST)

The biggest issue I see with this is that it doesn't give Tornadus-T any real benefit over the usual LO set, aside from a stronger U-turn and the lack of dependence on rain. Moving from special to physical for your STAB doesn't help you with any of the usual Tornadus-T counters/checks like...
  10. Victini

I checked the usage stats; from the suspect test last month, it was about 30% each for Band and Scarf, with another ~10% using Life Orb.
  11. Pokemon of the Week #7 Dragonite

I'm interested to hear how people have been using Dnite in the Genesect era. Looking at last months Suspect stats, Dnite was down at #16, with ~11% usage. Most of that was DDnite; I'm surprised to see so many people still used it with ScarfSect around.
  12. Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

I'd put Sharpedo in C tier. It definitely seems like it It's got the crippling flaws of being incredibly fragile, incredibly vulnerable to priority, and being walled by too many things. It's definitely inferior to the other physical sweepers in B-rank, stuff like Gyarados and Lucario.
  13. Conkeldurr

Yeah, it would. Focus Punch is -3 priority; Roar/Whirlwind are -6.
  14. Roserade

I tried using Roserade as a spiker on my Dark Horse team, and was not impressed. Sure, it can take water hits well, but it gets murdered by Ice/Flying attacks that are pretty common. The poison typing doesn't help, since with its terrible Def it's not taking even resisted fighting attacks well.
  15. The Dark Horse Project

The team I've been using is SR Terrakion/tobes' trapper Tran/RD Kingdra/Specs Zoroark/Spiker Roserade/ScarfMence. Well, Roserade hasn't been working out so well...doesn't work too well as a wall, can't take even resisted physical hits well, doesn't beat common spinners...I'm switching to...
  16. Pokémon you underachieve with

If I have to rely on getting 2 DDs off, I'm...somewhat less than impressed. As I said; as a pure Dancer, it's outclassed by Mence, DDnite...hell, probably Haxorus.
  17. The Dark Horse Project

Updated my post...this team's been rather interesting. Kingdra's a beast, and can easily sweep through entire teams; Roserade's been useful, and the power of Specs Zoroark is impressive. I'm using an odd sort of dual-weather team; no auto-weather, but both RD Kingdra and Sunny Day Heatran...
  18. Pokémon you underachieve with

I've just never figured out how to use Gyarados well. Straight DD sets are outclassed by actual dragons, SubDD sets just seem far too fragile between the weakness to SR and having to use up more HP on Subs, RestTalk ruins momentum...I've never managed to use him even decently.
  19. Simple Questions & Simple Answers & General Resources (OU Edition) MK II

LO Mamoswine w/ Superpower isn't a true sweeper, but it can punch through teams late game, and easily covers those three. Gliscor dies horribly to Ice attacks, Ferrothorn takes 71.02 - 84.09% from the first Superpower and can be finished off with Icicle Crash/Ice Shard, Poison Heal Breloom...
  20. Simple Questions & Simple Answers & General Resources (OU Edition) MK II

Thanks for the info. Also, just checking something - 252+ Cloyster after a Shell Smash hits 524, so 180+ with Venusaur still outspeeds in the sun, right? And the extra speed would go to outrunning: -Scarf Jolteon -Scarf Tornadus-T -Scarf Alakazam -Scarf Dugtrio -Scarf Starmie none of...
