Other ORAS OU Viability Ranking Thread - Check post #2359

Yeah, Id second this. Imo its definately an S worthy mon. Few downsides, excellent utility with sr and uturn, the ability to go defensive or scarf (or even rock polish, if youre crazy like that), and being able to beat/wall common mons like terrak and exca make it an amazing glue for any team...

I don't mean to detract from your overall point, but my god that first replay... leaving Latias in on Clefable latias using ice beam on clefable switching infernape into clefable (???) sacking megagross (his best msharpedo check) to chomp, for no reason switching infernape into clefable AGAIN...

I feel like at this point it would be more productive to just theorymon the meta after MMence's ban. Will Pinsir stop getting shit on by mence become viable again? Will Ice Sharders like Mamo and Weavile fall out of favor? What effect with MAltaria, MTile, MLatias, etc. have without Rayquaza's...

Someone else stated on another thread (can't find it right now) that Latios is really a "luxury" mega; that is, you slap it on your team when you realize you don't really have/need a specific mega. Really you use it b/c the lack of LO recoil makes up for the slight loss in power. I agree that...

Item Mega Stones: Use on Multiple Pokemon

I'd find it more viable to just use two mons who could possibly mega, ex. AV Ttar + Chomp. You could play the Chomp like it's scarfed, then mega up late game to clean up.

Pokémon The Eternal Flower (or: Floette-E)

I wasn't using it as a wall; I was just showing that it only 3HKOS MVenu with psychic, a type you generally don't want to be locked into...
  8. Gehenna

Pokémon The Eternal Flower (or: Floette-E)

0 SpA Mega Venusaur Sludge Bomb vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Floette-E: 186-222 (59.8 - 71.3%) 252 SpA Floette-E Psychic vs. 252 HP / 188 SpD Mega Venusaur: 140-166 (38.4 - 45.6%) Well, that's kind of disappointing. Not really seeing the potential in this thing since it can't use Eviolite.

Other Don't use that, use this [XY OU Edition]

Echoing these, isn't Mirror Coat kind of redundant with Taunt? I'd slash Psycho Boost on that, that at least gives you an answer to MVenu.

Pokémon The Eternal Flower (or: Floette-E)

like many people have said here, i don't consider light of ruin worth it at all on any set that isn't scarfed. i think a cm set of cm/moonblast/hp fire/psychic will be its best set.

Celebi QC (1/3) QC Rejected (2/3)

may want to mention that this thing is an excellent switch-in to twave thundurus, which things like manaphy and azumarill really appreciate. they can also both take on heatran, ttar, etc. 252 SpA Thundurus Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Celebi: 128-152 (37.5% - 44.5%) - guaranteed 3HKO 252+...
  12. Gehenna

    Pokémon Diancie

This thing seems like it has potential to be one of the best Trick Room users; a set of TR/SR/Diamond Storm/Moonblast seems like it'd work really well. Also, I bet you get this thing by taking Carbink somewhere or using an item on him.
  13. Gehenna

Pokémon The Eternal Flower (or: Floette-E)

Eviolite will really determine if this thing is going to be good or not; 74/128 bulk is good, however it's not the fastest thing and is frail on the Defensive side.

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

This completely imo, swagger + foul play just brings too much luck into the game. By the way people, this is not a slippery slope. There is a clear line between a shitty gimmick strategy and a "roll the dice" strategy such as this. The distinction should be made against strategies which are both...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

Swagger has no competitive value (at least in OU, don't play lower tiers), and I believe most people here on Smogon are in favor of avoiding complex bans if a simpler solution exists (ban Swagger).

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

My god, there are so many troll posts in this thread. Anyways, by all means, ban Swagger if this is really an issue (haven't ran into it yet in XY OU). Reminds me of the Moody debate from early in the B/W meta. I think the key question here is, "does swagplay do more harm than good?" While it's...

    Other Good Cores

I just don't see the appeal of M-Amph, it's way too slow to really do anything and it seems to me that M-Venu + Rotom-W would be a better core, especially if you're looking for a slow volt switch.

For the "Conclusion Reached" mons, is there somewhere I can see the major talking points on them; like, for example, is Latios A tier because it's still a very good offensive mon, or is it NOT A+ tier because of Fairies and the recent popularilzation of Darks (I hope I'm making sense)?
