I generally like sweeping a playing field nice and clean of hazards before I set my own, actually. Defog's just peachy for that, especially on a Pokemon that can swat hazard setters. Bonus: The Evasion Down means slapping something silly with Hydro Pump or the like is all the sweeter. Empoleon...

I came for the Klefki, but stayed for the Eject Button info. Fascinating, I had no idea that it countered the switch-out effect of U-Turn and Volt Switch. It's a tactic a lot of tanks might well find useful.

Plus, until it's back up there's likely some breedable/breed-chain moves that we don't know yet, although at least it'll be reasonably easy to see if anything new is added to a Pokemon's movelist.

Scalding them does help in that regard, even if it's not as reliable a way of padding one's defenses as a WoW burn is. It's also notable as being able to carry Knock Off as well, making it an interesting mix of tricks. If you were -really- desperate to surefire debuff, it can have Featherdance...

If you're going to "button up" with Aegislash, Weakness Policy works surprisingly well in Doubles. Having it Dance on turn 1 while you lob a Bulldoze at the field with it's partner means it's -1 speed (like it cares) and +4 ATK with minimal damage taken. Cue smashing things with +4 S. Sneak/+4...

Of course, that wasn't so much a ban as it was simply returning them both to their previous tier- that is, they were Uber in Gen 5 and went right back there after a quick review showed nothing had changed, other than possibly making them more dangerous than before. At least Gengar got a break...

The second was meant in a slight tinge of sadness regarding Smogon's reactions. The first Pokemon on the chopping block have been Mega Gengar and likely now Mega Kangaskhan as well- Pokemon so "improved" they're being booted out of OU and into Ubers. Especially one that was RU/NU last generation...

Poor Mega-K. It hits hard enough and is bulky enough that basically, what small weak points it has vary by moveset. Basically, most matchups involve a trade at best to disable/kill the thing...that is, by Kangaskhan punching something that deals passive damage/gets it burnt/f's with it setting...

+4 STAB Aqua Jet tends to make an impression on anyone. Heck, at +4 you can easily go mixed with Shell Smash/Ice Beam/Aqua Jet/Stone Edge or the like.

And of course, Mega Gengar is now banned from OU, meaning if Mega-K stays in OU, that's one less potential counter. Oldschool Gengar might still be able to do the trick, of course- it's just going to have trouble surviving the punishment to get there. Burning Kangaskhan, one way or another...

Leavanny gets Overcoat as it's Hidden Ability. You're immune to Sandstorm damage, get dropped to 1HP by Stone Edge, then proceed to hit back with +2 Leaf Blade if it's not Scarfed. If he outspeeds you on the SD, you know it's Scarfed and you switch out knowing he's just gonna Edge again for the...

Leavanny also gets Sticky Web, and you could in theory go with Sash + Sword Dance/Leaf Blade/Sticky Web/X-Scissor (or random 4th move). Dance if you see Tyranitar, a +2 Leaf Blade will make an impression and/or make it want to hard switch to avoid the hit. If it's Scarfed to outspeed Leavanny...

This actually isn't a bad combination- especially since Gengar can duck back out after trapping/killing anything Galvantula lured in to clear hazards and re-establish them. Swarm with Focus Sash tends to give you the chance to get in one really good shot (at least) later on if it's something...

I admit I had forgotten about Smeargle. You gotta wonder how many new moves are going to breed chain through that painter Pokemon- I suppose it's appropriate given the region is all artiste. :)

With Klefki, you also get the option to Foul Play for good measure- which takes advantage of what'll be at least a +2'd Aegislash if it's dumb enough to try and hit you through the Swagfusion, or wear down anything that comes in on the hard switchout. Given Klefki's typing, it might just plain...

It'd work, but Klefki does it better, IMHO. Scrafty doesn't appreciate a +1/+3 Sacred Sword (after Intimidate + Swagger, depending on whether SD/Weakness Policy triggers) hit much and Klefki can soak that kind of punishment up much more easily.

When one Pokemon can make Cof look that good, you know it's scary. On the other hand, stealing Kangskhan's Parental Bond makes other Pokemon look terrifying as well. (or having a Pokemon that can "borrow" it like Alakazam with Role Play) Mismagius might well get away with that, too. It can...

Right. Crunch lets you maul slower WoW users, possibly before they get a burn off. The unpredictable part of Mega-K is which 4 moves it ends up with. Although, for example, if you can survive that Sucker Punch and use Weakness Policy, a +2 Sacred Sword WILL slash Mega-K into knockout...

Also, note that Weakness Policy can be triggered by an attack from one of your own Pokemon in Doubles. Fire off a spread move that does the job from a faster Pokemon, then let the WP'd Pokemon cut loose in turn. Aegislash loves this in Shield Form- I often have one of my other Pokemon Earthquake...

Anything fast enough to get a burn in past the smackdown Mega-K will deliver is worth it, since it can't Sucker Punch for priority, and if it's a Ghost Type, it can't Fake Out either- only accept the status effect and have someone else deal with it. Choice Scarf Rotom-H is nice along those lines...
