  1. Smogon University PO Statistics — October 2011

Top 5 OU Usage are all staples of Rain teams, and the top lead overall being Politoed. Then again, 6-14 are all pretty regular in the Sand, apart from Jirachi perhaps? Seems that distributing auto-weather has certainly had a massive effect on the metagame from last gen (something we've known...
  2. Gen V Initial NU Metagame Thread

How about Slowking? Regenerator, good typing. Only real problem is that both are Sp Def orientated. Guess you could run Slowking as an attacker though, and a pivot to use with Roselia Rest-Cure
  3. Project Mono-Type: Water

With 252 Def investment, I think it reaches 350 Defense. Maybe not taking multiple hits, but since you outspeed Ferro one can 2HKO as long as you aren't switching INTO a PW. Also, since I've recently wiped my comp, I don't have my teams anymore, and can't remember if it was Modest or + Def...
  4. Entry Hazards

Something that has also had a major effect on hazard use across the gens is the introduction of the all powerful, TEAM PREVIEW. An example I'd like to draw you to is my Forretress in Ubers tier (I can provide an OU one if needed, but I've been playing Ubers recently). I run Toxic Spikes and...
  5. Project Mono-Type: Water

Something that I've found to be a pretty damn good Ferrothorn counter is one on my absolute favourite pokemon of all time: Slowbro. Depending on the teamplay, this guy can shut down Ferro for most of he game. High Defense and Low speed means less damage from Gyro Balls and Power Whips. Reliable...
  6. Toxic Spikes

One thing I have to admit that has improved the possibility of using Toxic Spikes this Gen is Battle Preview. One of the most annoying things back in 4th Gen was getting up 2 layers of TS, only to find that the opponent's team had nary a worry to them, or had a Poison-type ready to soak them...
  7. Project Mono-Type: Water

There are also other options for Stealth Rock-weak teams, one that I actually use in a number of my teams: stop it from coming on the field at all, via Magic Coat. The distribution of this move is varied, and only available to Gen IV pokemon. Here's a list: Ice Type: Jynx Flying Type...
  8. Black & White Battle Subway Records (now with gen. 4 records!)

Something I'd recommend, having used Manectric in competitive battling before, is to give Overheat a try - 140 BP is going to hit a LOT harder than Flamethrower. Sure the Sp Att drop sucks, but if you're using it as a one-off moves it's great. Try it! The set I used was this: Manectric @...
  9. Creative (and good) Movesets (READ THE OP FIRST)

How about this then to counter weather: Starmie @ Water Gem/Life Orb not sure about EVs, enough to outspeed Tyranitar/Nintales, rest in sp att Modest Hail Hydro Pump Thunder Rapid Spin This may look a little strange, but hear me out. This thing is a way to change weather, and then KO the auto...
  10. Stall, my love

Another enemy of stall teams is the Trick-Choice method. Trust me, people do NOT like their walls losing their item, especially Ferro-cent, Skarm and pink blobs united, and having it replaced with a choice scarf. I'd like to propose this pokemon, which I've used to quite some success as a lead...
  11. Gen V Initial NU Metagame Thread

Look, all the people that are hating on Hustle for 80% accuracy Choice Banded Outrages - many pokemon in OU and even Ubers happily use Choice Specs Hydro Pumps, which have the same accuracy as a Hustle-Outrage. SpecsToad being a prime example of this. Or how about Stone Edge? There are numerous...
  12. Challenge The Scramble Challenge - Mark 2

Sorry Jimera0, but I said I'd only use 4 pokemon. Unless I HAVE to use more, it will stay that way. Sounds like a cool pokemon though!
  13. Challenge The Scramble Challenge - Mark 2

So I'm feeling kinda bored, and thus have decided to start my first Scramble challenge! I'd like to have a relatively hard (not near impossible) one, on Ruby version. Just a few rules: 1) On an emulator, so no trading for evolving or version exclusives 2) No NFE 3) 2 available before the 3rd...
  14. Challenge The Scramble Challenge - Mark 2

TM13, take a Sandslash named AJ. When it's a Sandshrew, it thinks that it's AJ's one from the anime, and is super tough. Hence it can take water attacks with no worries, meaning that it needs to battle every water pokemon you fight until he evolves. Also, to evolve, he needs a 100 victories...
  15. Exploring the Glitchmon Metagame

I've actually used Me First with my Dugtrio, as a filler move. V-Create in teh sun hits HARD on Ursaring, never mind Duggy's below average attack. 180BP * sun boost (1.5) * Me First boost (1.5) = pain. And getting Machoke is also fun ;)
  16. Creative (and good) Movesets (READ THE OP FIRST)

Sorry buddy, but Bounce ain't legal with Moxie. Seems interesting otherwise - maybe EQ for coverage instead? I use a similar set, did alright for me but ended up switching for some better synergy
  17. Exploring the Glitchmon Metagame

Just had a stroke of inspiration, and checked something - Nincada can learn Mimic in gen 3. Therefore, doesn't that make it possible to have an Endeavour-Shedinja? Ie: Shendeavour@Focus Sash 255 Att, 255 Speed (No point in adding to the other stats) Adamant/Jolly Endeavour Extremespeed/Shadow...
  18. Gliscor

I run a Swords Dance/Facade/EQ/Aerial Ace set to catch people off guard. Against better players, they tend to overpredict expecting taunt/Protect, allowing me to hit hard and fast. shits all over Conkledurr ;) Just the set I've used in rotation with a protect/Toxic set.
  19. Honchkrow

Actually, Night Shade can be a useful move. When confronted by someone trying to set up subs on you with high defenses/resistant typing, also compatible with Moxie. Used Substitue/SP/Brave Bird/Night Shade to great success in UU a few months back, since been trying OU.
  20. Platinum/HG/SS Battle Frontier and DP Battle Tower Records

Dammit! The factory is the most aggravating thing ever!!!! Was progressing pretty nicely on a streak of 33, close to getting through the 5th wave. I currently have Garchomp 4, Zapdos 2 and Blastoise 4, up against a trainer with something random for the first pokemon, followed by Hippowdon 4 and...
