  1. Popularity Poll for the Defense of the Titans Project

So would Scarf NOT count as an attack boosting item? I mean, according to the proposed rules, speed is considered an offensive stat, so an item that boosts that would be banned under Limitation 3, which I personally don't find... attractive? Whatever, I would like it made clear whether or not...
  2. Ask a Simple Question, Get a Simple Answer MK IV: Read the FAQ in the Opening Post

So I was playing a Sleep Talk Snorlax in game the other day and started spamming Rest Talk because I ran out of PP but I still couldn't attack. Apparently, while Sleep Talk won't REDUCE a move's PP it will not be able to use a move with NO PP. Is this a known mechanic? I couldn't find anything...
  3. NU CCAT 2: Step 1

    Moldbreaker for misdreavus.
  4. The Alpha Stages

I don't think boosting Cobalion with Volt Switch is bad at all. A 4x resist to SR and immunity to T-Spikes combined with the detrimental effects of Close Combat and Cobalion's high speed makes Volt Switch a pretty effective choice for a moveslot. Plus you can fake a Choice item and it hits...

  6. Project Mono-Type: Water

The only problem with not running Politoed is when facing a Drought team. Your STAB is effectively nullified and now those water weak pokes on the other side are that much harder to take down. Politoed has a lot more viable options than people give it credit for and does not need to be a liability.
  7. Get on the offense

I have to agree, but from the opposing side. Sub CM Jirachi on a Rain team with Water Pulse and Thunder will get the best of you as it has done to me several times. Mostly because you won't find out it's full moveset until it's already behind a Sub with one or two CMs up. It's other movesets...
  8. 5th Gen Move/Ability/Item Updates Project - Read Post #265

Quick nitpick. On the Double Team description is has Minimize as an equivalent. As of Gen V, Minimize raises Evasion by two stages instead of one, but has much poorer distribution.
  9. Machoke (GP 2/2)

If you look at the AC for both sets there are clear mentions of entry hazards. Especially the first set. I don't think jc104 was calling out blarajan on "just want[ing] to argue". He just wants people to read the entire skeleton before making comments on what to put in the full analysis. Clearly...
  10. Accelgor (Analysis) (GP 0/2)

Agreed with both sets of comments. Spikes should definitely be the first set with Substitute and Baton Pass at least AC if not direct slashes. While I do agree Yawn is an awesome move, I personally wouldn't use it over both Bug Buzz and U-turn.
  11. Sigilyph (Analysis) [QC 0/3]

Sorry to double post but I think Sigilyph is a really awesome Pokemon that needs some more attention. Its stats and movepool are far from terrible, and these two things combined with an awesome ability in Magic Guard make it a decent threat in not only OU, but UU as well. Again sorry for the...
  12. Drifblim [QC: 3/3] [GP: 2/2]

Oh I agree completely, I just missed you mentioning it earlier. My bad.
  13. Sigilyph (Analysis) [QC 0/3]

I'd like to suggest slashing Whirlwind with Stored Power on the Cosmic Power set. Even with Cosmic Power boosts, Stored Power isn't all that strong. Yes, you're complete Taunt bait but whatever, you're not doing anything anyway without getting some boosts in the first place. I ran that in OU and...
  14. Drifblim [QC: 3/3] [GP: 2/2]

Is Recycle worth a mention on the ChestoRest set? It might be kinda cool to get multiple Rests along with more speed boosts. It does require you to run only one attack though...
  15. Aggron (Analysis)

What about Sub/Hone Claws/Head Smash/Aqua Tail? It was discussed in the OU thread as being a neat set. The extra accuracy to Head Smash and Aqua Tail is pretty awesome. Also, Water/Rock coverage is pretty good, missing out on Empoleon and Water Absorb Pokemon that resist Rock (Quagsire...
  16. Bouffalant (Analysis)

Agreed. Being forced to switch during a turn of Trick Room is so much worse than burning one to get a Swords Dance off.
  17. Gallade (QC 3/3)

Ummmm isn't Gallade already being worked on by Berserker Lord? http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3449062
  18. Kingdra (Analysis) [GP 0/2]

Technically it can be. If a pokemon's able to learn a lot of bad moves it's movepool is large, but still lacking in terms of usable options. But yeah, Kingdra's movepool is pretty sub-par in general. Is Double Dance really not worthy of it's own set? It functions kinda like Double Boosting...
  19. Abomasnow [QC 3/3] [GP 2/2]

I tend to agree. Scarf will more than likely be switching in and out pretty often and with a weakness to Stealth Rock, Wood Hammer won't be doing Abomasnow any favors. However, I say no to Ice Shard on a Scarf set. It's gonna do diddly squat to the things you actually want to out-prioritize...
  20. Abomasnow [QC 3/3] [GP 2/2]

Why a Sassy nature for the first set? With two physical moves you can avoid the Speed drop and use a Careful nature instead. Also, I think Focus Punch deserves a mention on the first set. At least in AC. It can help with opposing Abomasnow and Registeel and other things that resist Blizzard. Of...
