  1. All Gens What are your favorite teams of all time?

Pre 2015 RBY team: Exeggutor (Stun Spore) Alakazam (Reflect) Chansey (Reflect, Seismic Toss, TWave) Lapras (Sing) Snorlax (Reflect, Rest) Tauros Eggy was a solid lead at the time, as Zam was a common opener. Zam was typically for taking sleep, but also useful for paralysis spreading. Once in...
  2. OU RBY OU Viability Ranking (2016 to 2020)

This does clarify some things for me, thank you. Couple of quick points though: Firstly, Golem has a better CH rate (if you're claiming bulkier is bulkier than this is also up for consideration?) Second, is it often a good move for Rhydon to Sub against a Seismic Toss user? Wouldn't EQ almost...
  3. OU RBY OU Viability Ranking (2016 to 2020)

That's a fair point, but it does happen. Regarding getting Golem in...Rhydon has the exact same problem, it just does a little more damage. I'm not claiming Golem is as good as Rhydon btw, but stats don't really give any info on how good Golem is. Lvl 99 Rhydon is only a little bit worse than...
  4. OU RBY OU Viability Ranking (2016 to 2020)

That's just nonsense though. Golem can still come in on Thunder Waves, Thunderbolts, Hyper Beams and Explosions and still does good damage to anything (just not as good as Rhydon). If you have Golem out and your opponent has their Eggy KO'd, what can they safely switch in? Naff all. Sure, Rhydon...
  5. OU RBY OU Viability Ranking (2016 to 2020)

It's also true that many pokes have contradictory roles. Gengar can't explode and then catch rival explosions, Zam can't realistically spread paralysis, take sleep and sweep. Probably he can only do 1. I guess the difference is that only Golem has a near identical pokemon to compare to. It...
  6. Other Tiers RBY Random Battles Hub

Sorry to revive an old thread, but are partial trapping moves implemented? I never see wrap, clamp etc. what gives?
  7. OU RBY OU Viability Ranking (2016 to 2020)

I don't think F tier should even exist. Parasect? Really? Is there ever any reason to use him? It's not even gaurenteed sleep, because all other sleepers outspeed him, several pokes outspeed and can OHKO, and if you're not leading with him most paralysed pokes can safely switch in.
  8. All Gens Ask a Simple Question, Get a Simple Answer Mark II (RoA edition)

Trying to find RBY probabilities for pokemon waking on each turn. (e.g. 20% chance first turn, 25% 2nd turn) Can anyone help me?
  9. Lower Tiers RBY OU/UU Cutoff Discussion Thread (2019)

    Pretty sure Explosion can't 2HKO :p
  10. Lower Tiers RBY OU/UU Cutoff Discussion Thread (2019)

Why would Victreebel be moved up if it's viable in UU? Isn't the point of an OU tier to provide bans for UU? The likes of Slowbro and Chansey aren't considered Uber after all.
  11. All Gens The "What if" thread - Topic #66 : Physical-Special split in ADV

It would be a significantly faster metagame, which would probably weaken things like spikes that need many turns to stack up. Screens are less viable, set up is significantly less viable. Slowly setting up a Curse Lax with Rest is now risky, for example. Snorlax is also generally worse, which is...
  12. Theme Teams and Check out my All Normal Team

Clefable really doesn't have the stats. Unpredictable, yes, but it can't really do anything well. In general I'd prefer Kangaskhan, but you don't have many options for T-wave and sleep, so perhaps Clefable is better in this specific case? I'd also consider Ice Beam Lax. You can stall pretty...
  13. OU RBY OU Viability Ranking (2016 to 2020)

Agreed on Nidos being rubbish, noone should ever use them. In a typical team 5 pokemon will have Super Effective moves against them, possibly even every pokemon. I'd also argue there's no reason to use Electrode. It's significantly less powerful than Jolteon and its movepool is just awful...
  14. OU Jolteon or Zapdos Analysis

It's not really a very good counter unless it's 1v1. Zapdos will just paralyse Jolteon, meaning the next pokemon (probably Tauros) will just EQ it to death. If Zapdos has Light Screen he can also reasonably fight 1v1. Jolteon is pretty good vs Slowbro, if you predict Rest (not too hard) you'd...
  15. Semi Invincibility Clause

Thanks, that seems like a pretty good summary of potential uses.
  16. Semi Invincibility Clause

Is there any reason to use dig instead of earthquake? As for fly... how many (viable) pokemon would use it? Possibly Articuno or Dragonite at a stretch? Seems pretty mediocre at best. I don't really see the point of this, as these moves aren't that great to start with.
  17. OU RBY OU Viability Ranking (2016 to 2020)

Zap vs Starmie is not a good comparison really, because it depends significantly on your opponent's team and current status. As for surprises, the main one for me is the significant gap between Golem and Rhydon. Can someone explain what changes to the metagame in the past few years have lead...
  18. Remove Sleep and Freeze Clause, and ban Reflect

Theoretically that sounds like a great idea. There is potential for abuse (if you're losing you have a new strategy to reset the game), which is concerning, but I think the probability of you getting a freeze and still losing obviously enough to try a 2nd freeze intentionally is pretty low. Even...
  19. Remove Sleep and Freeze Clause, and ban Reflect

I understand your argument, you don't have to keep reiterating it. My point is that convention and "what people are used to" should not be totally dismissed. It may irk you that we've ended up with something with a few very niche scenarios that aren't possible in game, but most people clearly...
  20. Remove Sleep and Freeze Clause, and ban Reflect

I know you don't think it's the same, because you think in black and white on this issue. The point is that if you have a tournament, there needs to be common ground on rules. People have accepted sleep clause even though it's technically not possible, because people don't see this as black and...
