Indeed, the Chicago trip was pretty amazing. Nice job summarizing skarm! Anyway, I suppose I'll include my rather dismal performance in the tournament.
Round One: Aeolus vs. Black Gangster Man
WELL! It's rather amazing that I even played since cook informed me that I in fact wasn't playing in that round, but was supposed to wait for the second group of brackets. Though, my unerring prudence forced me to check the bracket myself...and sure enough, I was playing. Way to fail cook.
So anyway
Turn one: I fucked up on the machine and couldn't enter my move within the 30 second time limit. As moronic as it sounds...it's pretty easy to do (skarm did it in one of his later battles, except with a much better outcome). So, the machine randomly chose an attack for me...sporing my own Snorlax. While my opponent Double Teams with Umbreon.
Turn two: I spore my opponents MissyD while Umbreon DT's again and Snorlax sleeps
Turn three: I Perish Song with Smeargle to prevent these DT's from screwing me over, while my opp BP's to a Crobat and Snorlax/Missy sleep.
Turn four: I do something meaningless with Smeargle while my opp does something even more pointless with his Crobat. Snorlax wakes up and OHKO's Missy with a well placed Shadow Ball.
Turn five: I endure with Smeargle...and SD with Lax...killing Crobat and Umbreon who my opp had sent out to replace the fallen Missy.
Turn six: I OHKO Rayquaza with a Mewtwo IB for the win.
A rather anti-climactic win, but it was a pretty cool comeback considering my team consisted of Smeargle, Sneasel, and Mewtwo after Snorlax was out of commission!
Round Two: Aeolus vs. cook
Well, the game starts and I opt for Obi mode since I doubted that he would lead Kabutops.
Turn one: I endure with Smeargle and SD with lax, KO'ing both this Kyogre and Mewtwo off the bat.
Turn two: I bring out Sneasel to replace Snorlax (to complete the Fake Out/Spore strategy) while cook brought out Snorlax and Shedinja. Under the 30 second time pressure...and unable to undo my move without risking another random move by the computer...I Fake Out the Snorlax and Spore the Sheddy. Now, of course Sheddy has Lum...so he wakes up and toxic's Smeargle to rob him of his last hit point.
Turn three: I bring in Mewtwo, still confident of my win despite my irrevocable blunder last turn. Anyway, I KO the Sheddy and begin to work on Snorlax with Mewtwo psychics...whilst cook Hyper Beams Mewtwo with lax.
Turn four: I further lower Snorlax's HP with attacks from both Sneasel and Mewtwo while Snorlax recharges .
This cycle continues for the next few turns with me lowering his HP enough to bring the lax into KO range on the next turn. HOWEVER, cook managed to score a critical on my Mewtwo on the would be penultimate turn of the match I should have won...wiping it out...along with my win which had been so certain to come on the next turn.
I was rather pissed for about 5 minutes...but I got over it!
Anyway the rest of the trip was a blast. Skarm now has the few pics that I had taken on my camera (he used his for most everything) so he can add them to his story as he sees fit. All-in-all, it was a really cool trip...from the wayward hitchhikers, to the ditzy waitress, to the hapless concierge, to the vacuous movie theater, to the 47 U-turns because (apparently) I can't fucking drive...it was a wild ride! You guys are going to have a blast in NYC.
p.s. Mikel, my name is Tony...none of this Anthony business.
