Jinzha, the big updates thing is just a fad. Scramble challenge started with only people posting when they finished their challenges, or the odd small update if the challenger was bored and had nothing better to do.
This fad will die down soon. There was a recent fad to try and out-saidst Treadshot A1. Some tried, all failed, fad over.
Just play the game as you like, and report back when you finish. Anything else is optional. Actuallly, since we're not the law, even the 'report back' part is optional. We're not going to hunt you down or anything. ;)
